Bible Verse of The Day – 12-18-15

Luke 12:6 (NKJV) 6 “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God.

In March of this year my Dad had to go in for heart surgery. He was 80 years old. Being the age that he was made me realize that this could possibly be it for him. He has always been a very strong man. He had never been hospitalized his entire life. This was a big thing for our family.

The day came and my Dad was taken in for the surgery. As we sat in the waiting area, we heard a call for code blue come over the intercom. It was my Dad. My heart sank, and I was beyond knowing what to do or say. But deep within me I had this strength and a peace that kept me calm. It held me up. I knew God was in control, no matter what the outcome was.

He made it through that surgery and began to recover, only to find out that he needed two more surgeries, back to back. They had found cancer in his body, and his carotid artery was 99% clogged. For the natural mind, it was more than I could handle.

It was a trying time for our family. But one of the things that helped us the most was being together. No fighting, no bickering, no arguing, no criticizing; just simply being there, holding on to each other and our faith in Almighty God.

As we celebrated his 81st birthday today, he opened his gifts and played a CD, listening to the song “His eye is on the Sparrow.”

God watches over us. Rest in Him today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-17-15

Matthew 9:18 (NKJV) 18 While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.”

Worshiping Christ in the midst of a storm shows God our faith in Him. This man worshiped Jesus, even though he was facing a very hard situation. He did not underestimate the power of Christ. Instead, he sought after Him.

Are we going to let things just fall off today, or are we going to worship Jesus, grab His hand and let Him bring life back into our dying situation?

Luke 1:49 (NKJV) 49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.

Get up today and worship His Holy name, Jesus our Lord. He will bring us victory! Amen.

Our prayers are with you and we are here if you need to talk or you need prayer.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-16-15

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV) 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

In everything that we do, there is one motive that is pure; Love.

Love can overcome racism, bigotry, sexism, greed, envy, adultery, anger, selfishness, poverty and so many other things that we wrestle with or are affected by in our lives.

So much time and energy is wasted on trying to find solutions for many of life’s problems. But God has already shown us the right way… the Perfect way; Love.

Love will always put others first. Love will cause us to reach out to others in need. Love will cause us to see past a person’s sin or shortcomings and give to them, even if they don’t deserve it.

Love will keep us from judging someone based on their clothing, their attitude, their physical appearance, their race or their ethnicity.

Love overcomes fear. Love overcomes doubt. Love overcomes suspicion. Love overcomes cynicism.

If we could live our lives and leave only one thing behind as a legacy, let it be this; Love.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-15-15

Luke 10:38-42 (NKJV) 38 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”

Martha welcomed Jesus into her home. But while He was there, she was busy serving and became worried and troubled. However, her sister Mary sat at His feet and listened to Him.

Even though on the surface it looked like Martha was doing what was good, it was referred to as a distraction. Because, at this particular time, she should have been taking a break from her serving to sit with Jesus and listen.

Can we get distracted in our serving? Yes. We can get off track if we are not careful in balancing our time.

This happens quite frequently. And this is why so many people get burned out and give up. We need to stay balanced in our serving.

How do we do this? We choose to give God first place, even before our serving. Jesus’ response to Martha was that Mary was doing what was needed.

Luke 10: 41-42 (NKJV) 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

This is how we get rid of worrying and troubles, by spending time in prayer and listening.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-14-15

Galatians 5:26 (NKJV) 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Envy. It’s something we’re warned against many times throughout the word of God.

But there seems to be more envy in the church today than there has ever been. Some of this is due to the ways of the world creeping into our lives. There are so many “shiny objects” that try to catch our attention.

Technology has given rise to so many things that are fun to use and grab our attention. If we’re not careful, we can lust after things and envy those around us who have the latest and the greatest stuff.

There’s also a teaching in the church that has increased envy in the body of Christ. It’s called the prosperity gospel.

The prosperity message infers that God wants us all to be extremely wealthy. It teaches that the word of God shows us how, if our faith is strong, we can do things that will cause money to be attracted to us.

This is heresy. Yes, God wants us to have strong faith. Yes, God wants us to learn to walk by faith in every aspect of our lives. And, no, God doesn’t want us to live in debt or poverty. Debt is a form of slavery.

But no, He does not intend for all of us to walk in some sort of “super faith” that causes money to be attracted to us. Because, in reality, this teaching isn’t really about faith. It’s about presumption and poor choices.

So many times we hear that we should just “take that step of faith” and buy something or make a major decision in our lives, because God can’t bless us if we don’t exhibit faith.

This is dangerous, since it never really teaches the difference between faith and presumption.

Faith causes us to move because God has told us to do so. Presumption will cause us to move and hope that God will clean up the mess if our choice was a mistake, because God had never told us to move to begin with.

Move carefully. Seek God in every choice that is made. We can’t let presumption replace faith.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-12-15

Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV) 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

According to the Webster dictionary the definition for Immanuel is Messiah.

I remember as a young girl, I would go to Sunday school because my parents made me get on that bus every Sunday.

I was just going through the motions, doing what I was told to do. My heart was as bad as the rest of the world. The only difference between me and my friends was that I was going to Sunday school and they weren’t.

One Sunday while the Pastor was preaching, God touched my heart and I believed! I believed everything that Pastor was sharing about Jesus Christ. I believed He gave His life for me. I knew He came to save me and I needed to take the step and let Him.

I opened my heart that day to Him and let Him help me. I became His and He became mine.

Our relationship grows each day. Some days I’m tired and He knows it and some days I’m on fire! But no matter what, He is always waiting for me. Even when I’m having an off day, He waits.

How blessed we are that someone has such great love for us.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

He is our Messiah! Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-11-15

Genesis 50:20 (NKJV) 20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

These are words that were spoken by Joseph, as he faced his brothers; the brothers who sold him into slavery many years earlier. What they did, they did with evil intent. But God turned it around and used it for good.

There are many reading this who are facing situations that are hard. Some may be facing the toughest things they’ve ever faced in their lives. You may feel like darkness has closed in on you and you can see no light at all.

But know this. What the enemy has intended for evil, God can work for good.

It might feel like absolutely nothing good can come from your situation, the chaos you feel, the hurt and the pain that you’re struggling with. You can see nothing good, anywhere.

But when we are at our lowest, looking up, God already has a plan in the works. We just need to stick with Him and walk with Him so He can bring it to pass.

That is the hard part. That is the part that so many of us get wrong, because we get tired, frustrated and scared, and we give up too soon.

We can tell you from personal experiences that those times when we are about to throw in the towel and take things into our own hands are exactly when God has moved on our behalf, and turned what looked like catastrophes into victories.

So hold fast to God. Cling to His word. And remember that where the enemy sows evil, distress and chaos, God will bring healing, peace and joy, if we don’t give up.

Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV) 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-10-15

Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV) 24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Jesus is an example of a true friend. He listens to us and hears us even when all others turn us away. He helps us through things even when it was us that brought on the problem.

I have a dear brother who needs healing and deliverance. He is in his 40’s and has been in and out of the hospital 3 times this year. Each time he seems to be getting worse. His liver is very bad due to drinking excessively. It is severely damaged and not functioning properly to get rid of the toxins in his body.

Today, as I drove him around to run errands, I just felt like I needed to be his friend. I didn’t need to be looking down at him because he has hurt himself in such a way, or telling him what he did wrong. He just needed a good friend, someone to be there because they care.

Sometimes being a friend means to just be there by their side, no matter what happens or what they have done; To love them and help them even if we don’t see eye to eye on everything.

The balance in this is that we must pray and let God lead us as to who needs help, where and when.

Proverbs 17:17 (NKJV) 17 A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.

Be that friend that God call us to be as He leads us.

Bible verse of The Day – 12-9-15

Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It seems that the world has been turned upside down in the last few years.

Not everyone agrees on exactly what the cause might be, but everyone can agree that the world is a different place than it was even just 10 – 15 years ago.

Seeing everything that’s happening with terrorism, civil unrest in so many countries and economic upheaval across the globe can cause us to live in fear, if we’re not careful.

But as we press in and draw near to God, we can rest assured that no matter what happens, nothing can pull us away from God and His love for us.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…

So if fear tries to grip you, or if you begin to doubt that God is still in control, remember that He never changes, and He will never leave us or forsake us.

Malachi 3:6 (NKJV) 6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change…

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV) 6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Trust Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-8-15

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

In all your ways, acknowledge Him.

That’s a section of these verses that seems to get skipped over too often, while people focus on the first of the two verses.

The words “in all your ways acknowledge Him” are just as important as the rest of them, since acknowledging Him (submitting ourselves to Him) is critical to Him being able to direct our paths and bless us.

We spend so much time “chasing after God” and trying to put all the pieces of this great puzzle together. And in doing so, we tend to make things so much more complicated than they need to be.

God is big. There’s no doubt about that. And the things He does are intricately woven, which can make them seem very complicated. But as we begin to submit ourselves to Him, and humble ourselves, we will see His grace working in our lives.

Proverbs 3:34 (NKJV) 34 Surely He scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble.

This doesn’t mean that we can’t ask God questions, or that we have to understand everything about Him. But it means that no matter what comes our way, we can humble ourselves before Him and trust Him, even when we might not understand everything that’s going on.

That is true humility.

And humility is the key to growing in God and seeing our lives take shape as a believer.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-7-15

John 10:14-15 (NKJV) 14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

The love that Jesus Christ has for us is beyond our comprehension. He laid down His life for us. What a selfless, beautiful love He has for us.

He doesn’t want us to pull away from Him just because we are not perfect or because we can’t seem to get it right at times. He knows our struggles and the weaknesses we have in certain areas.

He doesn’t look at where we have been or the things we have been involved in. He wants our heart and for us to love Him back.

Are we in bondage today? Are we a slave to unrighteous living?

Take a step toward God. His arms are open to us and He wants us to come home to Him. He wants to set us free from the bondage that holds us back from the beautiful relationship He has for us.

He loved us first, just as we are!

1 John 4:19 (NKJV) 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

Come home. Papa loves us more than we could ever imagine.
