Bible Verse of The Day – 1-20-17

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

There is no rest when we find ourselves struggling from day to day with finances. It can pull on our relationship with God, our family, and any other relationships we may have.

The heaviness of it can cause us to lose our desire to fight or to keep going. Depression, negativity and loneliness can set in, making us feel like we are in a constant battle that we can never win.

How do we win this battle? How long will it take to feel like we are above and not beneath?

Many people have financial issues. Why? Because, there are very few that grow up being taught how to properly handle finances; How to save, how to give, how to spend, etc.

There is a lack of preparation and teaching in the home when it comes to how to properly handle our finances.

God’s word teaches us His principles regarding money.

He makes us think about what place money holds in our heart. Is it first place? Is it second place, or third etc.?

Only we can answer this. When we figure out what place money holds, then we can begin, because this very important question will tell us where the change needs to come in.

Matthew 6:21 (NKJV) 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

If we want to fully serve Jesus, we need to give Him our finances. Ouch. That’s tough, because many of us like to think our finances are our finances, period.

And many of us probably think that this is the one area of our lives that we can handle and have some control over.

If we are financially broke and things are not good, then really, what control do we have? We may say, “well if I had more money I could make it work”.

That is the point…it’s not about how much we have. It’s about what we do with what we have.

Once we know the right steps to take with our finances, we won’t have to think about how much we have or need. What we have will begin to work for us as we put it in its proper place.

Our finances have come from God. He owns everything. It is time we acknowledge Him with them and say…

Dear God, take my finances. Forgive us for this mess and help us do what is right with the money you have blessed us with. No matter how much we have, we are thankful for it and give it to You. Show us how to handle it properly, that it may glorify YOU. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Let God move on our hearts today in taking the first step. We may need to sit down and start a new budget by giving Him first place on that list.

We are excited to hear of the changes to come as you step out in obedience and in faith today!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-19-17

Isaiah 5:20 (NKJV) 20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

We live in a time where truth and lies have become intermingled to the point where many people can’t tell one from the other any longer.

Truth has been diluted to the point of being almost indistinguishable by many. Lies pass for truth many times. It is a dangerous situation, to say the least.

So how do we know the truth and how do we distinguish and discern lies as they are being propagated as truth? How do we know truth from lies?

The answer? God’s Spirit and God’s Word.

If we walk closely to God, His spirit will show us what’s truth and what’s a lie. The closer we get to God, the easier it will be to discern these things. And if we are ever in doubt, His word will make it plain and clear.

Lies are being shared as truth from so many venues. Movies, musicians, news organizations, politicians, religions, blog and website owners, and even churches are spreading lies as truth. Yes, even churches claiming to be Bible-based.

Money has become a god to many people these days. Spreading information that sounds good, and is shared under the guise of being truth, brings in money for those who spread it. Money isn’t always the motive, but it is the main driver behind this.

So it is up to us to stay close to God and spend time in His word in order to stay sharp and in tune with His Spirit. And as we watch and listen to what goes on around us, we will have the understanding we need in order to know truth when we hear it and see it.

It is up to us. We must not allow ourselves be fooled.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-18-17

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Stone is very HARD. It doesn’t give. It doesn’t flex. You can’t squeeze it, you can’t bend it, you can’t stretch it. It is what it is.

The only way to change the shape and size of a stone is to crush it or break it.

You see, our hearts without Christ are hard as stone. We can tell by the way we act and think. Our attitudes show us our heart condition.

We may say, “well, I’m kind and giving. Oh and I do love people. Sometimes I go out of my way for others. I even give to charitable organizations. I would say that makes me a good person with a good heart”.

Even though we may do these types of things all day long, it still does not change our heart condition in God’s eyes. The only One who can bring a complete change to our hard heart is Jesus Christ. His Spirit living in us will change us forever.

Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

With God’s spirit dwelling in us, our hearts become soft, pliable and teachable. And over time, the desires of our heart will become One with Him.

God is calling for a people that will surrender their hearts completely to Him, so that He may show them a deeper love and a closer walk.

John 4:23 (NKJV) 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-17-17

Matthew 6:33  (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Keeping our eyes on God, instead of on His blessings, will give us a blessed life!

Are we waiting on certain types of blessings and totally missing out on God Himself loving on us? Maybe we’re missing out on the fact that He wants to care for us. Or the fact that His compassion for us is so deep and strong that He waits for us to talk to Him.

Focusing too much on certain types of blessings can ruin our walk and relationship with the One who gives us those blessings. Those very blessings can come between us and God.

Be careful and be alert to remain close to God even in the harvest season. Don’t let the harvest become a distraction. Remain disciplined, by continuing to do what we did when there were no signs of blessings.

Stay steadfast in God’s word. Stand strong and stay focused on Him, not on His blessings.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-16-17

John 10:27 (NKJV) 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

As a believer, our decisions should be based on what we have learned through His word. In doing so, we learn to follow, obey and apply His truth to our everyday living, instead of doing something simply because we want to. His words will echo in our hearts.

This is all part of following Him and it takes a lifetime to learn. It doesn’t happen over night, so we shouldn’t give up if we are not getting it just right. We don’t just reach a point in our life and say, “there, I know how to handle it all!”. It is an ongoing process.

Most times we are fighting our own flesh. We are trying to stop it from doing the wrong things. That’s right, our own flesh.

We might say, “so and so is doing this and getting away with it. Why can’t we just do half of what they are doing?”.

We cannot look at what others are doing and try to “get away with it”. We need to stay focused on what we know is right and follow through with that each day.

Keeping this old flesh in line with God’s word is a job in and of itself. But we do have a Helper, the Holy Spirit. And we need His strength, wisdom and discipline to keep us following the right path.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

We love that He thought of us and sent us a Helper. We need Him more than we know. Ask the Holy Spirit for help today, that we may be reminded of the words of our Lord.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-14-17

Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

God supplies all our needs! Amen. By who? Christ Jesus, Our Lord and Savior.

He is there for us in so many ways and on so many occasions. It doesn’t matter if it is small or something big, He will supply our need.

The questions is, are we ready for His supply, for His provision? This is a very important question and not to be taken lightly.

When the Lord supplies a need He will do it in a way that will be good for us.

He’s not going to be like the person that just gives to us because we are kicking, screaming, giving the silent treatment or guilt treatment, etc. It’s not going to happen this way.

God is very concerned about the things that are going to be GOOD for us, long lasting and effective, in a way that will draw us closer to Him and teach us to continue to trust Him even more.

Sometimes His way or His answer for us will be exactly what we were thinking. Other times it may not be that way. We may have to take a step into the “unknown”. And that will cause us to be even more trusting, even more disciplined and even more stretched with our faith.

Don’t get discouraged if we are in a place of the unknown. Don’t get scared and want to turn back to the familiar. And absolutely don’t try to talk it or think it through.

Simply walk. And Jesus will lead us step by step, one day at time, through it all. And He will supply all our needs.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-13-17

Deuteronomy 29:29 (NKJV) 29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

God’s word is filled with wonderful blessings for each one of us. He reveals them to us throughout the Bible. They belong to the children of the Most High God, Lord and Savior!

King David shares about how good His Lord is to him as he places his trust in Him alone.

Psalm 21:6-7 (NKJV) 6 For You have made him most blessed forever; You have made him exceedingly glad with Your presence. 7 For the king trusts in the Lord, And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved.

The Lord God Almighty is a good God! We are blessed, and in His presence there is peace, love and joy! His mercy and grace are forever with us, as we stay close to Him and walk in His ways.

We are never alone. We are protected in His mighty hands.

Psalm 21:13 (NKJV) 13 Be exalted, O Lord, in Your own strength! We will sing and praise Your power.

We are a blessed people! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-12-17

1 Kings 19:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

How do we hear God? How do we know what He’s saying to us? How do we distinguish His voice when He speaks to us?

As we’ve mentioned before, this is one of the most frequently asked questions we get.

Sometimes hearing God is as simple as getting alone with Him, shutting out the rest of the world, and listening. Listening for that still small voice.

Our world is so busy. We have so very many things vying for our time and attention. And with all of that noise and all of those distractions, it can make it very hard to hear anything else, including God’s voice.

So sometimes we need to take steps to shut down the noise and cut off the distractions and separate ourselves from the pull of the world… and sit quietly with God.

Shut off the smartphone. Turn off the tablet. Power down the computer. Turn off the TV. And maybe even turn off the worship music. Yes, even the worship music can be a distraction at times.

And then we just need to get on our face before God.

Then, and only then will we hear Him speak. Only when we have created an environment that’s conducive to listening will we be able to hear Him. And as we spend time alone in the quiet, we need to be sure we’re not spending the entire time talking.

God wants to hear from us. But if we spend the entire time talking, we will never hear Him when He does speak.

Disconnect. Separate. Listen. Hear.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-11-17

James 4:14 (NKJV) 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that touch the hearts of others.

I was visiting a nursing home a couple of weeks back. I met all kinds of wonderful people. I smiled with them and talked with them. I really enjoyed being around people I didn’t even know. By the time I left I was hugging and kissing them goodbye like they were my own family.

Some of these people were in wheelchairs. Others were able to walk around. Some could not get up at all. Regardless of their condition, I was blessed and honored to be able to spend time with them.

What a joy it was to listen and take it all in.

There was one lady in particular that I had gone to visit. I’ve known her for years. She was always the kindest, nicest lady and she never had a bad word to say about anyone.

How things change. Now she can barely hold a coffee cup in her hand without spilling. She cries for her mother and she can barely remember anything.

I looked at this woman and thought to myself about how well she has done throughout her life. And now it is our time to hold her and help her finish her last days here.

The simple things in life are so beautiful. And spending time with people that are getting older is one of them. We don’t have to have a lot of money or big gifts to bring. Just bring ourselves.

She and all the rest of them gave me a hug as I was getting ready to leave. Even though I didn’t know most of them, I already miss them.

Time goes by quickly. If there is someone we need to love on, we need to go after them and make a way to see them. We don’t know what tomorrow brings.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-17

Matthew 14:29 (NKJV) 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

This is amazing! Peter stepped out of the boat, and walked on the water. That’s how miracles happen, when Jesus asks us to do something and we do it.

Walking on water is definitely not something Peter would have tried on his own. He heard what Jesus was saying to him, “COME.” And Peter stepped out in obedience and faith. And there he was, right in the middle of a miracle.

How do we hear what God is saying to us today? We pray, we read, we listen and then we take the steps that we hear, in faith.

Some steps will be hard to take, there is no doubt. But if they are ordered by God, don’t fear. Just walk.

Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.
