Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-17

Matthew 17:21 (NKJV) 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Sometimes we pray and pray and see no change. We need to remember, some things may need fasting as well.

Early one morning we received a phone call. We were asked to go to a hospital and pray for a patient. We knew immediately we needed to fast that day.

You may ask “how did you know?”. It was just a “knowing” that it was what we needed to do. Nothing spooky or weird. We just knew.

Later that evening we arrived at the hospital and met with the patient. The patient was out of sorts. They were very unresponsive, despite not being unconscious. We knew this was more than just medical issues.

As we prayed for them we began to see signs of deliverance. Their countenance began to change and they were starting to clear up in their mind. They were able to begin to respond to us and answer questions that we asked them.

Over the next few days they continued to get better. And it wasn’t long before they were released to go home.

Through prayer and fasting, God brought deliverance for them. The two worked hand in hand in this particular situation.

So we encourage you to consider fasting if you’re not seeing a change in a situation you’ve been praying about for a length of time.

Just to caution those with health issues of any type, please make sure to consult your doctor before you try any type of fasting. There may be limits as to what you can do.

If we have health issues and we can’t go without eating, we can fast from other things besides food. Going without doing some of the things that we may love to do can also be considered a sacrifice.

God knows our heart and our situation. He will meet us where we are at.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-4-17

Genesis 2:3 (NKJV) 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

It’s safe to say that if God took a rest from all His work, then we too should take a rest from all our work. God didn’t do this necessarily because He needed rest. He did this to set an example for us!

Just because we don’t go into work It doesn’t mean we are resting. Sometimes we take our work home with us. And while we should be resting, in our minds and thoughts we are still trying to figure things out. That’s not resting.

What is rest? A bodily state characterized by minimal functional and metabolic activities: freedom from activity or labor.

Rest means REST. Rest from our activities, rest from labor and rest in our thoughts.

Maybe some of us are struggling with health issues, marital issues, or children issues because we simply don’t know the meaning of rest. And we never stop going long enough to address certain things.

It will cause us problems if we don’t know how to pull back and rest, especially if we are the type of person that feels like we always have to be doing something and we never stop “to smell the flowers” so to speak.

Take this verse and pin it up somewhere so we can be reminded that it is not just OK to rest, but it is a necessity.

Rest is the word for today.

Get out of that routine for a short time. Let our minds sit for a bit and just have no thoughts running through them. And enjoy the quietness of rest.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-3-17

Ephesians 5:33 (NKJV) 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

People may think that just because they are married, it’s a sealed deal. Well, it should be forever. That is God’s intention for every marriage. But looking at statistics, it shows differently.

We need to know that going into any relationship or marriage takes work on both sides. No one person should have to do it all. It requires a nice balance between both people.

The men need to focus on loving their wife as Christ loves the bride. The women need to focus on respecting their husband. If these two very important things get neglected, things will begin to break. And then problems will begin to happen.

The good news is that if both are willing to let God help them fix it, He can and will make it new again. But in order for that to happen, both people need to be willing to let Him fix whatever needs to be fixed in each individual, including themselves.

You can ask any woman; if her husband doesn’t show her love the way that she wants to feel loved, will she have respect for him? No, she won’t.

Or ask any man; if his wife does not show him respect and mistreats him, is he going to be able to love her the way God wants him to love her? Nope.

If our marriages are based on God being the center and the head, we will listen and not give up on our marriage. We will take this verse seriously and we will work toward making it a priority on both ends.

As we follow what God tells us to do in this verse, our marriage will grow stronger. And we will develop a deep love and respect for each other.

Hold on to that marriage. It is worth the effort. Work together in exercising love and respect for each other. If we will do this, change will come. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-2-17

Psalm 121:1-2 (NKJV) 121 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

So many times, when we hit tough times or run into a problem, we tend to look everywhere but to God for the answer or the solution.

For some odd reason, we always leave God out until He becomes a last resort. We tend to think of Him only after exhausting all other possible options.

But God wants to change all of that. He wants us to learn and grow to understand that we should be looking to Him first!

Going to God first can be tough to learn when we first start. We get so used to depending on ourselves or others for help that it’s kind of a knee-jerk reaction each time we face a tough situation or circumstance.

But the longer we take before surrendering to God and asking Him for His help and His solution, the longer it will be until we have the right answers to our questions and the right solutions for our problems.

The key is that we learn to put God first in absolutely everything we do and every choice that we make. As we learn to do this, we will find ourselves trusting Him more and more and find ourselves in less problematic situations.

And when we do run into something that requires help, we will instinctively turn and look to God for that help, instead of spinning our own wheels or running to our friends.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-1-17

Colossians 3:14 (NKJV) 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

Love. It is the bond of perfection. What does that mean?

True love is the love that God teaches us to show one another. This is the kind of love that never fails.

Love based solely on emotions or feelings can fail. And we see this so much in the world around us. Sadly, it has even permeated the church… the body of Christ.

But God has called us to love one another with His love. Because His love isn’t subject to the whims of man. His love lasts and perseveres no matter what comes along.

When we love with His love, it will be a lifelong love that endures every possible trial or hardship. It will never fail or falter.

His love will never involve fear of any kind. There will never be a fear of love leaving. There will never be a fear of harm coming from love that is perfect.

1 John 4:18 (NKJV) 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

We are all frail human beings. We stumble, trip and fall down.

We make mistakes. We make poor choices. But in spite of this, God loves us anyway, every minute of every day.

He has told us to do the same; to love with His love. To lay aside our fickle emotions and desires and love like He loves.

Are we up to the challenge?
