Bible Verse of The Day – 2-17-17

1 John 4:10 (NKJV) 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Propitiation – something that propitiates; specifically: an atoning sacrifice.

God, in His love for us, knew we needed help to be rescued from our sinful state. So He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our sacrifice. Jesus is perfect, Holy, and sinless. His life here on earth demonstrated how we should walk and live each day.

His death on the cross was for us. He was the propitiation for our sins. Yes, our deceitfully and wicked hearts.

When He died, His blood, His body, every bit of His being was perfect as perfect can get. His sacrifice was pure. It covered all of our sins for yesterday, for today and for tomorrow.

What a wonderful and powerful love the Father and the Son had for each other and for us.

We can not forget what has been done for us. We can not let anything take away from this love, this heartfelt compassion that was shown for us by this incredible sacrifice.

We need to Keep it close, fresh and new every day. Loving both the Father and Son with all our hearts, watching our actions, and words as we follow the example that was put before us. We have a friend in Jesus.

John 15:13 (NKJV) 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-17

Matthew 6:21 (NKJV) 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Where our treasure is, there our heart will also be.

This was such a short, simple statement made by Jesus. But it sums up our entire walk with God perfectly.

Whatever our heart is focused on is what we will spend time on. Our “treasure” will occupy our time, our thoughts and our attention.

When we open our mouth to speak, what’s in our heart will come out. If our treasure is money, we will talk of financial matters. If our treasure is our hobby, we will spend as much time as possible thinking and talking about it, as well as participating in it.

If our treasure is our spouse, we will spend all of our time and effort trying to please them. Sometimes we might even put our spouse before God.

If we want to please God and build a strong relationship with Him, we need to be sure we are putting Him first in everything. He needs to come before our money, our hobbies, our careers and, yes, even before our spouse.

And if we love God and put Him first, our priorities will fall into order and the love that we show our spouse won’t be forced or artificial. It will be like God’s love is pouring directly from Him to our spouse, with us acting as the funnel that it flows through.

And so it will be with everything else. Once we let God set our priorities in order, He will oversee our career, our family, our finances and everything else that’s important in our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-15-17

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

We live in a tangible world. We see, we touch, we smell.

But the vast majority of things that affect our lives are not tangible. They are spiritual.

We don’t see the activity that takes place. But we see the results of that activity each and every day. We just might not always recognize it.

As humans, we tend to try to fight everything carnally, with our logic and our intellect. We try to figure things out in our heads.

But as believers, followers of Christ, we need to understand that most of our battles need to be fought in the spirit realm, using spiritual weapons.

God has given believers authority in the name of Jesus. He has given us prayer. And He has given us His word.

And He has given us a mandate to fight and defeat the enemy of our souls using those weapons.

It takes some time to understand this and to develop skills fighting battles this way. We will usually get better at it as we mature in our walk with God.

At first it might feel foreign and strange to us. And as we learn and grow in it, we will undoubtedly fail a few times.

But if we keep at it and we seek God’s counsel in prayer and the wisdom found in His word, we will become mighty warriors in the spirit and a formidable foe for the enemy and every demon in hell.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-14-17

John 1:1 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The Word, God Himself became flesh through a virgin. His name is Jesus Christ. The life Jesus offers is eternal and for all sinners, if we repent from our sins and give ourselves to Him.

His grace and His truth will touch every part of our being. He is the only begotten Son, in the very bosom of the Father.

John 1:17-18 (NKJV) 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

After we ask God to forgive us of our sins and we invite Jesus to come into our lives, there is another very important step we must take as God’s children. This step will help us walk in His ways and His teachings. We cannot do that on our own strength. Many of us have tried and failed.

Problems with addictions, anger, rage, insecurities, fear, doubt, anxiety, lust and greed are some of the things we can wrestle with. These problems don’t always instantly go away upon receiving Christ. That would be nice if they did, but our flesh needs to be taught and we need to grow to love the things of God.

Dealing with them on our own is impossible. We need our Helper, the Holy Spirit. He reminds us of the things of God. And as we yield to Him, He gives us the strength to get past them.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

As much as we want to do the right thing, without our Helper, we will almost always fail in our efforts.

There are places where this very important piece of God’s word is not taught. Why? Because they have a lack of understanding or a lack of knowledge when it comes to the Holy Spirit. They never experience Him in His fullness in their lives. So they don’t know how to teach about Him.

They received Jesus as their Savior. There is no doubt about their salvation. And they have the very best intentions. But they walk in their own understanding and they move based on intellect much of the time.

God is so serious about this that He tells us “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. Note that he says HIS people.

Hosea 4:6 (NKJV) 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…

We need knowledge, children of God. His knowledge!

When we are lost for words, feeling alone, abandoned, craving that addiction, or whatever it may be. We cannot rely on our head knowledge to get us through. We need the help of God’s spirit.

God help us today. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Come and baptize us, Your people, Your bride, with Your spirit!

We need YOU if we are to run this race that is set before each one of us. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-13-17

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Churches around the world are struggling, but it doesn’t have to be this way. God is willing to help. He wants to move and do mighty things within His Bride. But are we willing to let Him?

Every church we go into has the same ole, same ole routine. It seems like the same song and dance over and over again. Give me a church that doesn’t have that same ole routine and “THERE” we will find God!

It doesn’t’ have to be a big church, a fancy church or even a church building at all. It doesn’t have to be a place full of people. It can be just a few.

It doesn’t have to be a place with a loud preacher, pastor, evangelist, or priest. Nope! It can be the quietest place around. It doesn’t have to be where there are high tech lights and great music. God doesn’t need lights, music or fancy talk to get Him moving.

We’ve got to understand that our God is bigger than our thinking and He can not and will not bow to us and what we conjure up.

He says “draw near to Me” and He will what? He will “draw near to you”. When God gets near us, we are going to KNOW it!

So we need to give up this incorrect perception of God or we will miss out on Him and all that He wants to do with us and for us.

He is Jehovah. He is God Almighty. He doesn’t have to fit into our scheduled, routine-based services. That’s why we are struggling. We have closed Him out.

Do we want miracles, signs and wonders? Do we want the presence of God when we meet together?

Get rid of the routine. Stop doing the same old stuff over and over again. Draw close to Him and Let God do something NEW! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-11-17

Psalm 97:10 (NKJV) 10 You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

If there is one thing that we as God’s children are allowed to hate, it is EVIL!

It’s OK to hate the things that are not good. Stay clear of them. We can hate lying, stealing, perversion and greed. We can hate divorce, misconduct, mistreatment, and abuse, etc. We can hate anything that goes against God and His word. He is alright with it!

Don’t let the world try to put a name on us because we are doing what the Word of God says to do, or because we stand against that which is evil.

Don’t let it bring confusion or make us feel like we are doing something wrong because we hate evil practices.

We will never bow to evil actions.

Take a stand today and hate that which is evil. Pray for those who are practicing in it. But don’t fall prey to it.

Amen.

Matthew 12:35 (NKJV) 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

God will deliver us as we stand strong and do what is good.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-10-17

Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV) 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

We can face some pretty intimidating things during our lifetime. Some things can seem downright impossible to overcome.

But we serve a God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ask or think!

We might look at a situation and think that it is completely impossible. Our heads might never be able to wrap around how we could ever conquer it. But that doesn’t bother or hinder God!

Man might tell us something is impossible. But we need to remember that man never, ever has the final answer. God does!

Luke 18:27 (NKJV) 27 But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

So if you’re facing what seem like impossible odds today, don’t look around. Look up. Look to the One who holds everything in His hands. And give it to Him right here, right now.

And give Him the glory and honor forever.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-9-17

Luke 10:17 (NKJV) 17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”

These people all spent time with Jesus. They walked and talked with Him. They watched Him perform miracles. They heard Him teach others, and He taught them personally.

Yet, they were surprised and amazed that even the demons were subject to them in His name.

In reality, here is what everything boils down to; everything is subject to the name of Jesus.

Demons have to flee when His name is spoken. The wind and the waves obey Him. And even those who follow Him have authority in His name.

As we go through each day, it’s important that we remember this; that if we are a follower of Christ, we are part of His body. We are part of something much bigger than we can even comprehend.

Being a Christian, a follower of Christ, means more than just “being religious”. It means more than just calling ourselves a Christian. It means more than attending church. And it means more than just putting a label on ourselves and setting ourselves apart from others.

As a follower of Christ, it’s critical that we understand who we are and Who we belong to.

And because of that, we shouldn’t live feeble, weak, defeated lives. We should live lives that reflect Who we belong to and Who dwells in each of us.

No, we might not always feel strong and victorious. And sometimes we might feel like we have dropped the ball. Or maybe we just feel a bit weak or tired.

But once we really begin to comprehend who we are as a believer, we should start to understand that our lives are meant to be lived victoriously. So when those things come that hit us or knock us down, we should be spending way less time down than we spend up!

1 Corinthians 15:57 (NKJV) 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-17

Romans 5:20 (NKJV) 20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more…

We have all sinned. We have all done things we’re not proud of.

Romans 3:23 (NKJV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…

Some of us may wrestle with guilt because of something we’ve done. Maybe it’s something in our distant past. Maybe it’s something we did just yesterday. Maybe even today.

It doesn’t really matter when it happened. And, to be honest, it doesn’t even matter what it was that happened. We want to remind you of one thing.

Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.

Have you failed in your marriage? Have you lost your temper and said something you wish you could take back? Have you stolen or lied? Have you judged someone or lusted after someone? Maybe you’ve done more than one of these!

But, you know what? God’s grace is sufficient to handle all of these and more.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Does He like it when we sin? Of course not. Sin separates us from Him.

But by His grace, we are made whole again. All we need to do is repent and ask for His forgiveness. It’s that simple.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

And then we ask Him to give us strength to avoid that sin. And we move forward!

So if guilt has you looking down or beating yourself up, stop. Give it to God and move on.

And remember that each morning is a new day with the opportunity to make it better than yesterday.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-7-17

1 Samuel 2:2 (NKJV) 2 “No one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.

Growing up on a farm, we had a lot of fun. But, amongst all the fun, there were those things that came at certain times that hit hard. And we had to work through those things that are “a part of life”.

Mom and Dad never hid things from us kids. We were open with one another. If someone was in trouble or struggling through something, we all knew it. And we all felt it.

Each of us children had our things that we were going through. Some a little more than others. But, in it all, Mom and Dad were there for each one of us, no matter what it was, big or small.

There were 9 of us, and I’m sure for them it was tiring. But we never did hear them complain. To this day, the one thing that stands out to me in spite of all of our imperfections, mistakes and errors, was the love and faith they showed us through their actions. I believe that is what held us all together.

We were brought up having faith. It was important to our parents to lay down the foundation and get us off on the right track. We were not a perfect family. And I think it’s safe to say we had some wildness and craziness in our blood, for sure. But in all that, we do stick together.

And each one of us, in our own unique way, has something to offer. We have learned to respect the good in each other, and pray, not talk, about the stuff that is messed up.

There is no other foundation like the One our parents gave to us. Our Rock, our God and our Lord. He will never leave us.

We weren’t rich with material things. But we were rich in love and faith. On the Solid Rock we hold dearly. Amen.
