Bible Verse of The Day – 3-20-17

John 6:15 (NKJV) 15 Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.

Jesus came for one reason; to serve.

During His time here on earth, Jesus never once demanded that anyone serve Him or hold Him up as royalty. Instead, He would always serve others. He proved this when He chose to wash the feet of the disciples right before He was arrested and taken away to be beaten and then crucified.

In John 6:15 Jesus had just fed a multitude of people in a very miraculous way. The people saw this and they had it in their hearts and minds to make Him their earthly king. They were determined to do this, even if it meant doing so forcibly.

But because Jesus knew His purpose here on earth, He quietly slipped away so He could be alone.

As always, Jesus set such an incredible example for us. Despite being God in the flesh, He humbled Himself and served those He encountered. He loved people, including us, in spite of faults and evil intentions.

There is no doubt that He had moments when He stood up and spoke boldly when it was needed. He had no problem separating black from white… evil from good. But He always chose to love above all things.

How about us? Do we choose to love and pull away to a quiet place if someone tries to exalt us? Or do we get caught up in it and bask in the glory for ourselves?

Humility is a hard thing sometimes. Pride can catch us off guard if we’re not careful.

But as we grow and mature as a believer, humility will overtake our pride. And we will soon be acting more and more like Jesus, shunning the spotlight and pulling away to spend time alone with our Father.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-18-17

Psalm 3:3(NKJV) 3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.

Have we been broken by someone we care deeply about, someone we love and now they are just gone? They have left us feeling empty and wounded.

Sometimes people are hurting and they don’t even realize they are hurting others by their actions. Other times it is intentional. Either way, it hurts us.

How do we overlook one’s faults and forgive them? Through eyes of mercy and grace. Through loving more than we even know how. It’s God’s love, mercy and grace moving through us, taking what we don’t understand and bringing comfort and peace in the midst of it all.

If we are the one that has been hurt and we are down and out today, we shouldn’t beat ourselves up. We have been through some trials that take time for the wounds to heal that have stemmed from the pain.

But we must keep moving forward, even if that forward motion is getting up and doing something different today. Sometimes we just need to get it off our minds and think of nice and pleasant things.

Know that the Lord is there and He will help lift us up and put us back together, one day at a time.

Our prayers are with you and you’re going to make it. God is faithful!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-17-17

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

We live in a world that seems to have gone crazy in recent years.

Chaos is rampant around the globe. Economies are failing. Governments are crumbling.

Persecution against followers of Christ is running rampant. Some are even paying the ultimate price for their faith as terrorists and extremists seek to destroy anyone who doesn’t bow to their false gods.

Even on a more personal level, many people are experiencing things in their lives that are trying to crush their faith or bring them to their knees. It might not necessarily be related to mass persecution, but these things can definitely cause us to lose our faith if we take our eyes off of God even for a few seconds.

But amidst all the chaos and confusion, there is Someone who remains steadfast and solid. And that Someone is our Savior, Jesus Christ.

He has always been, still is and will always be the Rock that our faith is built upon. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

And as long as our faith is in Him, not in people or organizations, we will be assured of our eternal destiny, no matter what things around us look like.

Matthew 7:24-25 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

Build your house on the Rock. He will never, ever fail us.

A Few Clarifications About Our Mobile App

Greetings!

We hope you are being blessed by God and living in the victory that Jesus offers us 🙂

We have had some questions recently about our new app, so we wanted to take a few minutes to answer those questions and clarify a few things about it.

First, if you have downloaded our new app and are using it daily, thank you! We hope you are enjoying it.

Second, here are some answers to the most commonly asked questions we’ve gotten so far.

1 – Why does the app ask for permission to access my contacts on my phone?

Answer: Our new app has a sharing feature built into it. This feature allows users of the app to be able to share the app and its contents with other smartphone users, Facebook users and Twitter users. It’s a great way to let other people know about the app.

The app can be shared via text messages, email messages, Facebook posts and Twitter posts.

In order to be able to do this, it has to be able to access the contacts on your phone. It uses those contacts only when you want to share something from the app with someone else. And even then, it only accesses the person or people you wish to share the app with!

Here’s what it will not do: It will not download all of your contacts. It will not send all of your contacts to someone else. Not us, not Apple or Google and not the developer of the app. It will not secretly send messages to any of your contacts.

Again, it asks for permission to access your contacts only so you can share it with other people.

2 – Why does it ask for permission to notify me?

Answer: Our app works based on what’s called “Push Notifications”. This means that when we send a new message, the app will pop up a notification to alert you to the new message. Tapping on that notification will immediately open the new message within the app.

If you turn off push notifications or disable them, the “Devotions” section of our app will not function properly. It will basically disable that section. So if you wish to be able to read each day’s devotional message when it arrives, please be sure “Push Notifications” are enabled!

3 – Does the app cost anything to download?

Answer: No. Our app is 100% free. It costs nothing to download and it costs nothing to use. In fact, we don’t even have advertisements in our app. We want the focus of our app to be only your walk with God. So we opted not to place ads within the app.

Also, we have had a few iPhone users tell us that the Apple store asked for a password when the user attempted to install our app and then asked them to confirm that they wanted to “buy” the app.

This happens only if you have a password set on your Apple device for purchases from the Apple App store. If you do not require a password for app store downloads, you will not be prompted for a password, or to confirm that you wish to “buy” the app.

If you do have a password setup for app store downloads and it asks you to confirm your purchase, please just enter your password and confirm the purchase. You will be charged $0.00 for the app. As we mentioned, it is 100% free to everyone on both Android and Apple platforms.

We hope this will clear things up for anyone who has run into these scenarios and answer any questions you might have had.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to reply to this email or contact us through our app.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-16-17

John 4:34 (NKJV) 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

It was so very important to Jesus to do the will of His Father. It was everything to Him. It was like what food is to us. It keeps us alive! It keeps us nourished! it keeps us strong and it keeps us going every day!

So what are we to do? First and foremost, we have to sincerely want to know God’s purpose for our own lives. And how do we do that? By getting to know God personally and intimately.

When we reach this point in our walk with God, He will begin to unfold His purpose and calling for our life. Whether we follow it or not it is completely up to us. He gives us the freedom to choose.

But if we choose our own path, we may always wonder in the back of our minds, “what if I had done it His way? Where would I be today?”.

If we are feeling God calling us down a certain road, pray that He will help us make the right choice and take the right steps.

He is faithful to stand with us even in those things we don’t have a clue how to do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-15-17

John 6:26-27 (NKJV) 26 Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

Many people pursued Jesus when He was here on earth because they knew He would give them something. In these verses, He had given them food to eat. Others pursued Him because they had seen Him perform signs and wonders.

Why do we pursue Jesus?

Is it because we want a miracle? Is it because we want material things? Is it because we want blessings of some kind?

Or do we pursue Him because we want to know Him, and build a lifelong, lasting relationship with Him that changes who we are and why we live?

Now, let’s not get confused and think that it’s wrong to want to see miracles. Let’s not think that it’s wrong to ask things of God. He wants us to ask.

Matthew 7:7 (NKJV) 7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

But when the asking becomes our primary or our only focus, then we need to make some adjustments.

We need to put the relationship first, and the requests second. And when we get that right, then many other things in our lives will come into order.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-17

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

When the need for help calls, do we hear it? Are we willing to give up whatever we have going on to reach out? Or does it have to be convenient for us? Does it have to fit in our schedule, time frame or plan?

It’s easy to help when it’s convenient. But, when it’s not convenient and we have to put our things aside, this is when it can be very challenging.

This is when we will have to hold ourselves, our thoughts, our words, our judgments from rising up and being negative about the situation or the person(s) involved.

We have been called to help those who are sick.

Mark 2:17 (NKJV) 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Those that fall down again and again. Those that mess up over and over. Those are the sick. They need someone to stand with them at times. Someone to help shine the light on that dark place within them, that they can’t seem to fight on their own. We can’t give up on them.

There may also be times when God will ask us to pull back in certain situations for whatever reasons, and for however long.

In those moments, we must obey Him, even if we don’t understand it and it looks like we need to help. Sometimes staying out of a situation for a little while can be the help that person or situation needed.

Listen for God’s timing in helping. Stand strong and don’t judge it one way or the other.

Thank God for the opportunity to be a light in a dark place or situation.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-13-17

John 5:7-9 (NKJV) 7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked…

This particular lame man had been laying next to a pool of water where people were being healed regularly. An angel would come down and stir the water, and the first person into the water after it was stirred was healed.

This man had been lame for 38 years and longed to be able to be healed and walk again. But he had nobody to help him into the water when it was stirred.

When Jesus asked him if he wanted to be healed, he explained his predicament to Him and expressed his disappointment.

But the problem with his thinking is that he only expected God to heal him in one way; the way that he had seen others be healed. His mind was closed to other options until Jesus suggested otherwise and healed him there on the spot.

There’s an important lesson in this for all of us. We need to know and understand that God does what He knows is best. And it won’t always be the way we expect it or the way we’re used to seeing it done.

This holds true in our personal lives, in the body of Christ as a whole and in the local church bodies. So many of the things we do as part of our walk with God are done because we’ve done them that way before. Or maybe we’ve seen someone else do it that way. It’s part of being creatures of habit.

But God wants to break that. He wants us to have a fresh, vibrant relationship with Him that’s alive! He doesn’t want us to depend solely on our pre-existing knowledge or on our past experiences in order to commune with Him and see Him move in our lives.

Just as the lame man in the verses above learned that God moves in more than one way, let us also learn this and apply it in our own lives on a daily basis.

Rise, take up your bed and walk!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-11-17

Ephesians 4:20-23 (NLT) 20 But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.

Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.

That one short sentence is the sum of what we need to do in order to live a life that’s fulfilling, and pleasing to God.

Sometimes our old ways, the way we did things before we met Jesus, will pull on us and try to bring us backwards. Back then, we lived in darkness. We thought lies were truth. We had no understanding of who God really was and what the death and resurrection of Jesus meant for us.

But today, if we are followers of Christ, it’s important that we only look back to our old selves as a reminder of where He has taken us from and then where He has brought us to. Our thoughts and desires shouldn’t still be looking back, longing for the past.

Jesus has given Himself for us, paying the ultimate price to offer us freedom from sin and death. He wants us to live and walk in that freedom each and every day. And the freedom that He gives us is better than anything the world, or our past, can offer us.

Let’s be careful that we don’t overlook this incredible gift and get caught up in our past ways.

All it takes is letting the Spirit of God renew our thoughts and our attitudes.
