Bible Verse of The Day – 4-8-17

Luke 15:11-13 (NLT) 11 To illustrate the point further, Jesus told them this story: “A man had two sons. 12 The younger son told his father, ‘I want my share of your estate now before you die.’ So his father agreed to divide his wealth between his sons. 13 “A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living.

In the story above, the young man receives an inheritance from his father and he leaves with it soon after.

He takes his inheritance and does whatever he wants with it. Until it’s gone. There was nothing left.

He finds himself in a very bad situation and realized he did a dumb thing. He repents and wants to return home, remembering it was much better when he was home with his father. He wanted to make things right.

Some would say “It’s too late. You made your bed, now you have to lay in it. Oh well!”.

Thank God He is merciful and loving, and gives us chances to make things right. Amen.

Luke 15:22-24 (NKJV) 22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. 23 And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; 24 for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.

His father welcomed him back with open arms and celebrated his return. This doesn’t mean that we should just go and do whatever we want and think that there will be no consequences. There will always be some kind of consequences from our mistakes and poor choices. But it doesn’t mean that we can’t go back to where we left off, where things were right, and try to fix it.

Have we acted like the prodigal son? Have we taken the blessings of God, His inheritance to us, and spent it on wild living, knowing that what we were doing was not right?

It’s not too late for us to go back and make it right. He will welcome us with open arms. God wants to be with us. He wants us to acknowledge where we went wrong, and then repent and come home.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-7-17

Luke 17:15-17 (NKJV) 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. 17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?

Most people get very excited about the things that God does for them. We all do it. God provides something for us, or answers a prayer, and we can’t help but show our excitement or celebrate the victory.

God has done so much for so many of us. It’s safe to say that if we were to sit down and begin to make a list of our blessings, and the things God has done on our behalf, we could name off a lot of things.

What happens very often, though, is that we get so excited about our blessings that we forget to say “Thank You”. Our blessing or breakthrough comes and we completely forget Who it was that made it happen. We are all guilty of this at one time or another.

In the verses above, Jesus had just healed 10 lepers of their terrible disease. And yet only one of them even bothered to take the time to go to Jesus and thank Him.

Let’s make sure we are like that one who fell on his face at the feet of Jesus and said “Thank You”, and not like the nine.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-6-17

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

For many years I looked at this verse and thought that Jesus meant that those who follow Him would not walk in the darkness of sin.

But God recently showed me that there is much more to it than that.

No, we should not walk in sinful ways. But in this specific verse, Jesus was referring to not walking in darkness, from a different point of view.

Here’s what this verse really means:

If we follow Him, we will not stumble around in darkness. We will not have a lack of light in our lives. We will always have His light to guide us, no matter what we face.

This is, or should be, a huge comfort to every one of us who are followers of Christ!

Darkness tries to hide things that we need to see. Darkness tries to obscure the truth. And darkness tries to keep us from finding our way.

But Jesus himself has promised us that darkness can never again hide or obscure anything from us if we follow Him. The key is to keep our eyes on Him, and not on anything else.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-5-17

Ecclesiastes 3:7 (NKJV) 7 A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak;

People who don’t have a problem with speaking up sometimes struggle with “a time to keep silence”.

They have to work on this one, and sometimes it may be very hard for them to keep silent. They may find themselves opening their mouths and inserting their foot many times, wishing they had just kept quiet. And then they have to deal with trying to fix or clean up the mess that it may have caused.

Sometimes opening our mouths at the wrong time, even though we feel like we have good reason to do so, can cause more damage than good.

Remember; there is a time to keep silent.

People who don’t like controversy may have a problem with “a time to speak”.

They are always trying to make sure that they don’t speak out or cause problems in any way, etc. They are always waiting to say what they need to say, thinking it’s not a good time because it may cause problems or someone might get upset.

Sometimes not speaking up when we should can cause more damage than good.

So we can see that we have to have balance in this.

How do we know when to speak up and when to keep silent? This comes with learning to have control over our emotions and our fears. These two things will either make us speak when we should be silent or be silent when we need to say something.

Ask God for help in speaking in His timing, and that we will not speak from emotions or fear, but that when we speak it will help the situation and bring healing to all those involved.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-17

1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV) 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Knowledge and understanding come when we step out and do what God is saying to do.

Some may say “how do we know what God is telling us to do?”.

Knowing what God is telling us to do is important and it takes seeking Him through prayer, through His word and listening.

Sometimes we know just by something He may drop into our spirit. Or maybe through a dream. Sometimes the answer is right in His word.

Other times He may use someone to share something they went through that was similar, and we find our answer through their story.

Are you in need of answers today? If you wait and listen, your answer will come as you lean on God for His understanding.

God is faithful. He cares about you and how your situation turns out. He wants the best for us. Remember, He loves us more than we could ever imagine.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV) 17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-17

John 9:6-7 (NKJV) 6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing

Sometimes there are certain steps we need to take to receive the healing or deliverance for our particular situation.

This man that was blind from birth was healed through Jesus spitting in the dirt and making clay, then anointing his eyes with it. The blind man then had to go to the place where Jesus told Him to go and wash it off. These were steps that needed to be taken by Jesus and by the blind man.

Are we giving up on receiving a miracle because we are afraid to take certain steps? Afraid of what people around us may think? Afraid of the outcome of it all?

Do we think Jesus worried or was the least bit concerned what people were thinking when He took two fish and the five loaves, feeding 5000 people and having 12 baskets left over?

I mean, think about it. Logic says it’s not possible. Logic says HOW? If we let logic dominate, it can and will say NO WAY, and talk us right out of the steps we need to take.

Matthew 14:18-21 (NKJV)18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Jesus stepped out and said no way to logic and YES to His FATHER in Heaven, who showed Him all things to do.

Some of us need to stop letting logic hold us back. God has a plan, and we need to be open to the things He is showing us to do, and let Him flow. Don’t let fear and logic stop us from letting God work through us.

Step out of the logic realm and follow His lead. He is faithful.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-17

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

We are taught many things growing up. Learning and growing is what it is all about. We grow and become adults, and then we leave home.

Many times we think “oh boy, we are out on our own, and now we have to fend for ourselves.” Yes, we do have to make a living. That’s all part of the plan.

The best part though, is that although we may be on our own in some ways, if we know Christ and we put our trust in Him, He will direct our paths.

So, even though we may be “on our own”, He is right with us. If we don’t understand some things that are going on, He is right there to help bring clarity.

If we don’t know what steps to take that would be good for us, He is right there to show us.

If we’ve messed up and we need to fix some things, He is there to give us a helping hand.

What a wonderful Lord He is! Trust and acknowledge Him. He will direct our paths.
