Bible Verse of The Day – 10-9-19

Colossians 3:2 (NKJV) 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Life here on earth can surely consume us if we’re not careful.

As humans, our emotions can run the show if we let them. They tell us how to feel, how to interact with others, what to do and when to do it.

This can cause all kinds of things to happen in our lives that don’t need to happen. This might even cause us to go through unnecessary trials.

God wants us to set our minds on the things above, not on things here on earth. This might seem like a pretty tall order at first. After all, we do live here on earth, so how are we supposed to keep our minds on things above?

We learn to live and walk by the Spirit!

Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

This doesn’t mean that we simply abandon everything and everyone here on earth. It means that we put God first in everything, learning to listen for His spirit to guide us and show us what’s truly important and what’s not.

It means that we learn to discern things by His spirit. We learn to see things through His eyes.

And it means that we don’t let the things of this world capture our hearts, pulling us away from God.

Remember, we don’t live only by what we see!

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-8-19

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Do we pout when God asks us to do something or go somewhere, and it’s not what we wanted to do or where we wanted to go?

Pouting with God does not make Him change His plans. Sorry. He will just find someone else that will be willing to do it.

But, remember, He would have preferred the person He asked first to do it, for many reasons.

One reason may be that He equipped and prepared them already for the task, and that took time. Now, asking someone else may cause a delay.

Another reason may be that the person that He has to ask now is being pulled from their post in order to do someone else’s task.

If God is tugging on our heart to come and take a step of faith in a direction we have never gone before, we shouldn’t walk away, pout, or try to fit it into our plans and our preferences. Just take the step into the unknown and see what amazing things He will pull out of it all!

Psalm 100:3 (NKJV) 3 Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Be honored to serve Him in such a way, and let fulfillment and joy come from it all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-7-19

1 John 1:8-9 (NKJV) 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

As believers, it’s sometimes hard for us to admit our faults, our shortcomings, our sins.

We like to think we have it all together and have a good handle on our behavior every minute of every day. But the truth is that we all fail from time to time, falling to temptation and doing something that disappoints us and disappoints God.

We all sin. It’s a fact that we can’t escape, no matter how hard we might try to talk our way around it.

Now, as believers, God wants us all to grow and mature. He doesn’t want us to stay as spiritual infants all our lives. And as we grow, the sin in our lives should diminish, a little at a time. Our ability to fight off temptation should become stronger.

No, we will never reach a point where we are perfect. We will still slip and fall occasionally.

Here’s the best part of all of this, though; God tells us in verse 9, above, that if we sin, we simply need to confess our sin to Him and He will forgive us for it.

This doesn’t give us a license to sin freely. Doing so is a slap in the face of Jesus, who died a brutal death to atone for those sins.

But, it’s good to know that as we walk this walk in frail human flesh, if we do sin, we have an advocate, and we have forgiveness simply by asking.

1 John 2:1 (NKJV) 2 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-5-19

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 pray without ceasing…

When God opens our eyes and we discern something regarding a person, it does not mean He has given us permission to run to them and share it with them.

Most times it is simply for us to lift them up in prayer regarding what was revealed.

What is revealed in secret, we keep it in secret, unless God opens the door for us to share.

At times I have seen some things regarding a person. If I immediately ran to them and shared it, they would think I was an awful person, and I may never get a chance to actually help them the way God had intended.

Don’t let anxiousness cause us to blow it!

It takes discipline and timing to really be helpful and bring big change.

God will guide our steps.

The first step is usually prayer. Prayer goes before everything. Prayer will set the stage for doing things in God’s perfect timing.

Oh, so many times I have thought, “how will I ever be able to tell them what You, oh Lord, have shown me?”.

There are times I’d rather not know certain things about a particular person. I’ve had to learn to shut my mind down to prevent it from thinking the wrong thoughts.

But if we start off with prayer, there will be no judging. He will bring understanding. He will guard our heart, and it will become fruitful.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Help us, Lord, to bring big changes through your guidance. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-4-19

Isaiah 41:13 (NKJV) 13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

Life can sometimes leave us feeling alone and afraid.

We don’t know from one day to the next what we will face or what kind of challenges we will come up against.

It doesn’t matter what country we live in, whether we are male or female, what our financial status is, what nationality we are or the color of our skin. Stuff happens, and usually when we least expect it.

Many times, these things can hurt us emotionally. Other times they cause us to withdraw and wonder if anyone really cares.

And these types of things can make us fearful and afraid, grasping for hope.

But we’re here today to tell you that nothing can ever truly isolate you or leave you hopeless.

God is as close as we will let Him be. As we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. As we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him.

Jeremiah 29:12-13 (NKJV) 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

It’s time for us to stand against the things that are pushing us down. Time to resist the temptation to fall into self-pity. And time to push back against the darkness, in the name of Jesus, holding fast to God’s promises.

Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV) 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Don’t fear. We are not alone. He is our fortress. He will help us!

Psalm 18:2 (NKJV) 2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-3-19

2 Corinthians 13:14 (NKJV) 14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

This is our prayer for you today.

You are all so precious to us; so dear to our hearts. God has truly blessed us with some wonderful and special people like yourselves.

We want God’s very best for you. We thank you for being faithful in your prayers and support to this ministry. May you reap God’s very best for your present situation.

Seven Seas is moving at a nice forward pace and we are loving every bit of it, giving God all the glory!

Because of your help, the outreach has grown tremendously, reaching people in nations around the world. Even in some of the toughest places to get into, His word is penetrating the hearts of those who are eager and sincere to hear truth.

His word is alive, therefore it brings life to wherever and whoever it touches.

You may say, “well, I’m not doing much”. But you are doing much if your obedience is in Him. That is all He asks. It’s that simple.

His prompting of you, and you listening in spite of how you feel and think, you are part of reaching so many lives and making a difference in this world.

God gave me a vision of soil. It was dark and rich; and it had been tilled. It was soft and ready for seeds to be planted in it. Good soil for sure; the best that I have ever seen.

If we wonder what God is saying today, we only need to remember the words of Jesus;  If you love me, “feed my sheep”. Not just once, not twice, but 3 times He said this!

John 21:17 (NKJV) 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.

Plant those seeds in that good soil and reap a harvest. Amen.

God bless you and your tender, kind hearts. He is using you to make a huge difference! Continue to follow Him and watch how He cares for your every need. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-2-19

Psalm 1:3 (NKJV) 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

This is a well-known verse that is quoted very frequently.

People tend to use it to encourage and uplift others that they know.

As with anything else in God’s word, it’s important to be sure and use specific verses properly, and in their intended context. This verse is no different!

The important part of this verse that helps us better understand the intended context is the very first word, “He”.

So, this verse is telling us that He shall be like a tree planted by the water. But who is “He”?

Verses 1 and 2 give us the answer. Let’s take a look.

Psalm 1:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.

So, verse 1 starts off with the word “Blessed”. Who is blessed? The man who chooses not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly, stand in the path of sinners nor sit in the seat of the scornful.

So, “He” refers to the person who walks uprightly (godly, righteously).

Verse 2 tells us that this person’s delight is in the law of the Lord. And he meditates on it day and night.

The law of the Lord, in its broadest sense, refers simply to God’s word and His truth. So, this person not only avoids ungodly behavior, but they also spend time (day and night) studying and meditating on (pondering on) God’s word.

Now, let’s put this all together!

Who is like a tree planted by the water? The man or woman who lives a godly life (led by the Holy Spirit) making righteous choices, and delights in studying and meditating on God’s word, day and night.

Let each of us pray that we will be like this. And if we are lacking anywhere in our walk with God, let’s ask Him to give us the strength to improve in those areas where we might be lacking.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-1-19

Isaiah 41:13 (NKJV) 13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

Our heart has got to learn to lay things down.

I walked into a courtroom yesterday to support a man that was going to be sentenced.

Oh, the heaviness I felt and saw in the eyes of those that were there for their loved one, friend, parent, spouse, etc.

My heart ached. I know the hurt they felt.

Maybe they weren’t in the same boat as the prisoner, and weren’t the ones facing the charges. But they were feeling pain and sorrow, and carrying some heavy stuff too.

Please pray for the families of prison inmates. The families of the incarcerated person suffer for them as if they themselves are going through it.

Thank God for His hands, where we can lay our troubles and He will hold them and fix the broken pieces.

Victory can come to those even in a trial or season such as this.

Fear not. He will help you and those we love. Amen
