Bible Verse of The Day – 12-9-19

Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV) 10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

What is the fear of God?

The fear of God is something that is quite misunderstood. People have all kinds of ideas about what the fear of God is and what it means.

But, in addition to the misconceptions and misunderstandings about this, there are also many of us who have no real understanding at all about what it means to “fear God”.

We want to try to clear this up and bring understanding to this daunting topic.

Before we talk about what the fear of God is, though, let’s talk about what it isn’t.

The fear of God shouldn’t cause us to walk around, cowering, constantly worried about being struck down or condemned to death the very second that we do something wrong.

The fear of God shouldn’t cause us to become depressed.

The fear of God shouldn’t cause us to lose sleep every night, worrying about whether we’re going to be consumed by God’s wrath before we wake up.

The fear of God should have no negative connotations or implications in our lives as a whole.

If we wrestle with any of these things, we probably lack understanding in this area.

God never wants us to lack understanding or be uninformed or uneducated, especially when it comes to His word and our understanding of Him.

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

So, over the next several days, we will dig into this topic and get understanding. And by the time we’re finished, we will be informed, educated and knowledgeable, bringing a deeper insight and peace to our hearts and minds.

To be continued tomorrow.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-7-19

Luke 5:16 (NKJV) 16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

It’s so very important that we understand what prayer can do for our present situation, and for the things to come.

We need to pray often. Not just when we need something, but even when things are good and we are happy.

Be consistent. Prayer keeps us in forward motion.

A lot of believers are stuck. They most likely have stopped praying. Or maybe they never began to pray.

Prayer is the thing we need most in our lives. But we will usually give it very little effort. Many times we may even see prayer as a last resort.

But until we realize how important it is, we will struggle and ask, “why God? Why do I keep falling behind, keep missing it, keep losing out?”.

Prayer helps us to hit the nail on the head and be done.

Let’s pray like Jesus…often!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-6-19

Isaiah 6:5 (NKJV) 5 So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.”

Woe is me!

In the verses leading up to this one, God gave Isaiah a vision. In that vision, he saw God on His throne, along with the angels surrounding Him.

The depth of what Isaiah had seen shook him to His core. He had seen God with His own eyes, and he was “undone”. It completely devastated him.

This is a tough thing for us to imagine or grasp. What did he mean by “undone”?

He realized that he was completely unworthy of being in the presence of God, and that seeing God just might literally cause him to die.

Isaiah became acutely aware of his sinfulness when standing in God’s presence. And he didn’t take it lightly.

But what did Isaiah mean when he said, “woe is me”?

God is pure. There is nothing unclean or unholy about Him. Very few of us can really comprehend this. But, as Isaiah faced God, he comprehended it.

And because he got understanding, he was in fear of dying right there on the spot. In today’s culture, if we were in Isaiah’s situation, we might literally say, “just kill me now”!

As Isaiah later recorded his vision, in verses 6 & 7 he noted that one of the seraphim (angels) flew to him, having a live hot coal that he had taken from the altar, and touched Isaiah’s lips, proclaiming that he was now clean, purged from his sins.

It’s important that we understand the depth of this. God is mighty in more ways than we can ever fully comprehend.

But as we learn of Him and we draw near to Him, we will begin to get a deeper understanding of just who He really is and what that means to us, as mere, frail, sinful human beings.

And when we have an encounter with God, we too might speak the same words as Isaiah. Woe is me. I am undone!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-5-19

Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Let the peace of God rule…

You see, we can sometimes fight the peace of God. We can be our own worst enemy.

I know, because there are times when God is saying to me, “stop, slow down, you need to rest”, and I question Him.

That’s right, the very ONE who knows me best, created me, loves me more than I know and Who wants the best for me. I question Him at times and say, “are YOU sure, Lord? I really think I need to do this. Who else will do it if I don’t?”.

What is wrong with this picture?

Is it pride? Because pride is not good.

Is it arrogance? Because that’s not good either.

Is it fear of some type, or maybe pressure from others? Because guess what, those are not good.

What is it that makes us keep going when we truly know something is wrong? We are so tired, but we keep going. Why?

Do I really think I know better than God? I get exhausted and worn out, and I even get sick from not listening. But I’ve always got to keep doing what I’m doing.

Who knows what I’m talking about today? How can we fix this?

We can start by learning that we are not the savior, the rescuer, or the only one who can do it. There are others that can do it. They just need to step up to the plate.

But, as long as we are in the way, they won’t step up.

Come on. We have done enough for now. Pull back. Rest as God has said to do. And let the peace of God rule!

His Peace comes in when we slow down and make room for it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-4-19

John 6:26 (NKJV) 26 Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.

Jesus never beat around the bush. When He had something to say, He would say it, regardless of who He had to say it to, or whether it might offend someone.

Prior to speaking the words above, He had miraculously fed a large crowd of people with just a few morsels of food. And after doing so, He had departed.

The following day, the people found Him in another area and began asking Him questions.

Jesus, knowing their hearts and their intentions, spoke to them directly, admonishing them because they sought Him solely because He had fed them fish and bread. Their natural hunger had been satisfied.

As He did so often, He went on to urge them not to seek the things that satisfy our bodies, but that feed our spirits.

John 6:27 (NKJV) 27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

This is something that each of us should remember, too.

The world we live in revolves around material possessions and satisfying the flesh. But as followers of Christ, it’s important that we not let ourselves get caught up in this thinking, but learning, instead, to let God show us how to live by His Spirit.

In this we will learn to labor for the food that endures to everlasting life, which Jesus promised to give us, if we seek it.

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 … I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-3-19

Psalm 139:14 (NKJV) 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

We are all fearfully and wonderfully made. But some of us can’t accept it because too many people have made us look at ourselves differently.

There are things they have called us and things they have said about us.

We have taken on who they said we are and we don’t even know who we really are anymore.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be who God made us to be and have friends and family that are OK with that? Wouldn’t it be nice to take off the mask?

We have worn our mask so much, we have forgotten who we really are. It’s sad, isn’t it?

One day we will get tired of it all. And we will be done with it. We will not understand why, for so long, we participated in conversations and activities that we were not interested in.

Today is that day.

Do you know that you are beautiful the way you are? And yes, we can all use some chastening here and there. But don’t you dare lose who God made you to be. You need to be you. You don’t need to be them.

Be You! Funny, loving, caring, smart, very organized, a troubleshooter, a hard worker, compassionate and anything else God has made you.

We know that God is speaking to your heart today, and our prayers are with you.

God loves you! Let’s enjoy who He has made us to be without fear of being disowned or rejected. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-2-19

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

The world is dark.

That darkness can spill over into every aspect of our lives if we’re not careful. And before we know it, it will overtake us, dragging us downward a little at a time.

God’s word is a lamp to our feet. It gives light, cutting through the darkness, revealing things to us that we might otherwise not see. And some of these things could be very harmful to us if we were to encounter them without warning.

God’s word is also a light to our path.

So, not only does it illuminate our feet and the area immediately around them, but it shines ahead of us, lighting the way for us as we move forward, showing us the path that God would have us take.

Additionally, God’s word will illuminate us, from the inside out, when we feed on it regularly! And the light that emanates from us will shine on others, bringing His light into their dark world.

Set some things aside and spend time in His word. It’s more than just a book. It’s alive!

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-1-19 – Spirit or Flesh?

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus!

We hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Jesus spent 3 years with His disciples. During that time, He spent a fair amount of time teaching them to understand and discern the things of the spirit, vs. the things of the flesh.

In today’s video, Spirit or Flesh, we dig into this topic and shed some light on the importance of us also getting this kind of understanding, so we don’t waste time struggling to figure them out.

We hope you will take a few minutes to watch it.

Be blessed and be strong in Him!
