Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-21

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

God, out of love, sent His Son Jesus Christ to save the world from our sin.

Love is not doing what everyone wants us to do. Love is not obeying the crowd instead of obeying the word of God. Love is not being gentle to someone when we need to be firm.

Love is doing what is right, no matter the cost, in the time and place it needs to be done.

Love sacrifices much.

Why is love the greatest? Because love is the righteous attitude to have in any given circumstance.

The Bible says that without love, whatever we are and whatever we have is nothing.

1 Corinthians 13:2-3 (NKJV) 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

Jesus took on the incredible burden of the cross out of love. What will we do? Are we even open to walk in such love? Because this love is not an emotion or a feeling, we need to choose whether we will walk in it or not. We have to choose to love.

Everything we do or touch, we have to choose the way we will do it.

If we choose love, we will do it from an obedient heart of righteousness that comes from Christ alone.

His Spirit, our Helper, the Holy Spirit that lives in us, will lead us in this love that comes from the cross if we let Him.

The greatest of these is Love.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-5-21

John 10:27 (NKJV) 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Jesus spoke very plainly in this verse, stating that His sheep would hear His voice and follow Him.

Notice that He didn’t lay down any special conditions for not hearing Him. He mentioned no exceptions and made no excuses for not doing so.

You see, it’s up to us to, first of all, know His voice. We have to spend enough time with Him to know Him, who He is, how He speaks.

Second, we need to learn and understand how to hear Him; how to discern His voice in the midst of all of the noise; the spiritual clutter that we encounter each and every day.

Finally, we need to be sure to follow Him. As our Shepherd, He is faithful to lead us.

None of this is particularly complicated. But it does require us to make a commitment to do it. And once we make that commitment, we need to stick to it.

What’s really awesome, though, is that when we do stick to it, and we put forth the effort, the return (for lack of a better word) is well worth the effort.

Nothing beats knowing Him, hearing Him and following Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-4-21

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

It’s interesting that we are told to meditate on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely and of good report.

Nowadays it is very hard to find such a thing. But it’s out there. And where do we need to keep our eyes and ears? On the good things.

I don’t believe any one of us enjoy listening to negative reports, unless we are the type that enjoys the drama.

And if that’s the case, we’d better check our heart and get things right. Because it’s not the heart of God.

He wants us all to succeed in our walk with Him. He wants to see us all be the head and not the tail. And this is one way to become just that; finding the right things to meditate on.

Stop burying our heads in negativity.

God doesn’t say He wants us to just take a peek at these things. No. He says to really focus on the goodness of the Lord.

Why, because it keeps our heart in the “right place”. The place it needs to be, stable, strong and believing!!

God’s children need to not lose heart in any given situation. We are to remain strong, even if we need to be encouraged by each other from time to time. We’ve got to help each other stand and not lose heart.

Psalm 27:13 (NKJV) 13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

Know that God is moving all the time in the land of the living, and He shows up when we least expect it.

We need to be watching, listening and meditating on the goodness of God!

Wow, the things He is doing in this day are amazing! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-3-21

Galatians 6:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

As I’ve walked through the years of my life, I have seen the truth of this play out in so many ways, both in my own life and the lives of others.

I have seen the reaping of the flesh and the reaping of the spirit.

I have seen abundance reaped by those who have sown to the Spirit. And I have seen corruption and death come to those who had sown to the flesh.

Some reaping takes longer than others. It is never the same twice.

Sometimes the way people reap might not seem to make sense, or may not seem fair when viewed through our natural eyes. And while that can sometimes be hard for us to swallow, we have to trust that God knows what He’s doing.

Why? Because He does.

Most of us would quickly condemn a person we see “sowing to their flesh”. God gives them grace and the time to repent.

Oh, there will likely come a season where His grace runs out and they begin to pay the price for their choices. But that’s in His timing, not ours.

And how about those who sow to the Spirit?

Does reaping from this happen when and how we’d like it to?

Not always! In fact, probably not often enough for our liking.

Sometimes it may seem that it is taking a lifetime!

The thing we need to understand, though, is that God is always faithful. It is us who tends to give up and walk away disappointed when things don’t happen when we think they should.

But here’s your answer, right here.

Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

So, if you’re sowing to the Spirit, you’re following God’s leading, and you’re living each day walking on the straight and narrow, trusting Him in everything, don’t grow weary.

In due season you will reap if you don’t lose heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-2-21

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

God is faithful!!

He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to bear. Even when temptation may approach us, He will help us escape it, If we are listening, watching and praying.

Temptation is the devil’s way of getting us. And he does know our weaknesses.

But our faith and trust in God to help us escape will be the key to not letting it overtake us.

God is our strength. Through Him we can turn away quickly, as we submit to Him.

When we resist satan and his schemes, God’s word tells us the devil will leave.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Those who are facing even the smallest temptation today, what are we waiting for?

Don’t play with it. Move on. It will not overtake us if we resist. He has made an escape out. Take it!!

We love you. God bless you. Enjoy your day.

Amen.

Bible Verse of the Day – 2-1-21

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

I live in New England, where the winters are cold and snow falls from time to time.

I have lived here all my life. I was born here and have never lived anywhere else. So, you’d think that I would love the winters.

But I don’t.

Over the years, I have grown to despise the cold and snow. I very much prefer warmth over cold. I prefer to be able to go outside to walk, go fishing, spend time at the range practicing my shooting skills and enjoying the outdoors in general.

We have considered moving south, where it is warm all year. But we have never felt the release by God to do that. So, we stay put for now.

Today, as I write this, it is cold and snowing.

I find this oddly symbolic. Let me explain.

On this day, there is a very dark presence in the spiritual atmosphere.

That presence is strong. It is foreboding. It taunts.

It is the culmination of decades of activity by some very dark players, both in the natural, and in the spiritual realm.

This presence causes many to fall into despair and question the very foundations of their faith.

Now, let me get back to snow, and why I mentioned it earlier.

Even though I don’t like snow much, I see the snow that’s falling today as being very symbolic.

Snow is pure and it is white. It gives the colorless winter landscapes here in New England a fresh new look, covering up all of the gray, brown, dead-looking trees.

It’s like a sign of life and purity in the midst of a season of death.

You see, God has a way of speaking to us that we might miss if we’re not careful and vigilant to see it or hear it.

He is saying, “I’ve got this. This is not the end. It is the beginning. Follow me as I lead. Keep your eyes on Me. I will show you great and mighty things.”

We need to trust Him in all things, even when what we see with our eyes might not look the way we think it should.
