Bible Verse of The Day – 5-20-21

Job 23:10-11 (NKJV) 10 But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold. 11 My foot has held fast to His steps; I have kept His way and not turned aside.

Yes and Amen!

We will all be tested. God says He will test the hearts and minds of the righteous. That’s us, His children.

May we come forth as Job did, like gold!

Psalm 7:9  (NKJV) 9 Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.

When we are tested, if we trust God by holding fast to His steps, we won’t turn aside.

Notice it doesn’t say to hold fast to our steps? That’s key right there. As we go through tests and trials, we will find that God will provide us with His steps to keep us by His side.

Keeping His steps is what brings victory in any given “testing season”.

Some may say, “well, I don’t know His steps in this season”.

We all have been there and we know that feeling. If we haven’t already, we need to shut out the noise around us and listen. That is how we will get counsel from Him and increase our learning and knowing what to do.

Proverbs 1:5 (NKJV) 5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel…

Noise will only distract us from hearing and getting His wise counsel, and His very important steps at a most critical time.

Get with Him. He will bring counsel through His word. And if we do all the things He is requesting of us, we won’t be on our own. He will have our backs.

When we get to the end of our test, we will look back and be astonished at how He saved us. And we will be as Job was, like gold, enjoying the peace that comes from obedience.

God is faithful!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-19-21

John 6:63 (NKJV) 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Jesus came to earth with one purpose; to bring life to dead people.

No, it wasn’t just about raising those who had died.

Yes, He did that. But it was more than that.

He needed to speak life to those who were living, yet not really alive.

Their hearts were beating. Their lungs were breathing. But their spirits were dead in their sins and ignorance. So, His goal was to bring truth and light to darkened souls and into a world where darkness ruled.

The words Jesus spoke and the things He taught were new, and they were different than what they had heard from the religious leaders of the day.

They stepped outside of the boundaries of the norm.

Some people loved it. Some were baffled by it. Some were infuriated by it.

No matter what people thought or how they felt, His words were nothing but unadulterated truth; truth that cut through the religiosity of that day.

And for those who embraced Jesus the words He spoke, there was life in them.

That life was given by the Spirit of God. He made them more than just words falling out of the mouth of a teacher.

And, as Jesus said Himself, He only did and spoke what the Father told him to do and speak.

Are we looking for a fresh burst of life in our walk with God?

The words of Jesus are a great place to start. He will never steer us wrong.

Heed His words. Receive life.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-18-21

Proverbs 14:30 (NKJV) 30 A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones.

Envy and jealousy; the two things that will keep us bitter and hard toward someone or something.

Watch out, for they can creep up on us and we won’t even see them coming in.

I (Pastor Ellie) was visiting with some people this past week, and I noticed that I sensed a distance with them toward me. It was kind of blatant and it bothered me because I didn’t know why.

They were behaving much differently than normal. They were quiet and hardly talking to me at all; kind of like I wasn’t even there.

I asked God what it was that I was sensing. He said these two words; envy and jealousy.

I asked God what I could do on my end to fix it. And He said, “not a thing in your case. There’s nothing you can fix; because you’re not the one that let it in”.

We all need to check ourselves from time to time, to make sure these 2 things don’t sneak in for any reason. Because once they do, they grow and they get stronger and stronger.

It can sneak in very subtly.

We may not even know it’s there, but it could be making us miserable and depressed at times. It could even be the reason why we think everyone is against us and nothing good happens to us.

So, let’s keep an eye on this in ourselves, because It could be the reason why we don’t have good relationships, or any relationships, for that matter.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-17-21

Psalm 32:8 (NKJV) 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.

God wants us all to learn and grow, and He is faithful to instruct us, teach us and guide us in the way we should go.

Do we sometimes wrestle with the direction our life is going?

Do we fail over and over again when it comes to making sound decisions and choices that are pleasing to God and healthy for our walk with Him?

It happens to everyone. At some point in our relationship with Christ, we reach a point where we realize that He is our all, and that we can do nothing without Him.

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

It’s at that point when we need to reach out to Him, surrendering our own will, and finally begin letting Him have the reins when it comes to guiding our steps.

You see, He gives us the freedom to choose. He never forces Himself on us. We choose.

And this is why our relationship with Him will be so strong and beautiful when we make the choice ourselves.

It will be sincere and genuine. Because we made the choice, we will better understand its importance. And we will be more willing to put forth the effort it requires in order to grow and become stronger.

And what a difference that will make in our lives!

Let Him instruct, teach and guide us. And let’s show our gratitude by walking out those very steps that He leads us to take.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-15-21

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

We know how important it is to get God’s wisdom. It brings us understanding and the peace that we need to carry out whatever is in God’s plan for us.

It comes when we accept what He is doing. Alongside it comes rest in our natural man, AKA the flesh.

When we humbly say yes to His plan for us, when we calm down and look to Him for our next move, there we will find wisdom and understanding. His peace will follow.

How do we get this “principal thing” called wisdom?

2 Chronicles 1:10 (NKJV) 10 Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?”

Solomon had to ask for it, as we will too.

He asked God, and God gave him wisdom. But because he asked for the right thing with the right heart and intentions, he got more than what he needed to carry out God’s plan in his life.

Asking for the right thing is crucial.

2 Chronicles 1:12 (NKJV) 12 wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.”

How many of us today are trying to get the work of God done without even asking Him for His wisdom? We are not just talking to pastors, priests or church-related positions, but anything that God has put in our hands to carry out or maintain.

How many of us ask God for wisdom to raise a family or keep our marriage strong?

How many ask God for wisdom to eat right or keep healthy?

Do we think God doesn’t know more than these dieticians?

How about wisdom to get through tough seasons that hit hard and want to knock the wind out of us?

Ask. And just as He gave to Solomon, He will give to us what we need for wisdom to make the right decisions, give the right counsel and help those involved.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-21

Luke 24:47 (NLT) 47 It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’

As I was recently listening to my Bible while getting ready for my day, I heard this verse and it stuck with me.

There were two key things that stood out. Let’s talk about them!

First, what initially caught my attention was the fact that the word, “all”, was used.

This means that “this message” mentioned here is for everyone.

There is nobody left out.

God does not discriminate against anyone.

This means that no matter what nation we are from, no matter what color our skin is, no matter what our income bracket is and no matter what skills or talents we have (or lack), God is not prejudice and He will not withhold His message from us because of these factors, or any others.

So, what is this message that He gives to us impartially?

That’s actually point #2 that caught my attention. It is this; “There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent”.

You see, forgiveness of sins is available to all. But there is a condition to be met. What is that condition?

Repentance.

The word says that forgiveness is available for all who repent! So, this means that forgiveness is not available to those who do not repent.

Ooh, this is something that’s pretty important if we look at it sincerely wanting to know the truth.

Sin separates us from God. It creates a chasm, a gap, between us and Him. And until we repent and ask for forgiveness, that gap remains.

That is not my opinion, nor the opinion of anyone else. It’s what God’s word says.

Sin is serious. It should never be whitewashed or sugar-coated.

Thankfully, God offers forgiveness. We just have to be willing to lay our sin aside, walk away from it (repent), and ask Him to forgive us for what we have done.

If we are sincere in our repentance, He willingly forgives us. It’s that easy.

It’s important for all of us to admit that we sin. Sadly, it’s part of human nature.

But God, in His mercy, has offered a way for us to be forgiven. It’s up to us to accept His offer.

We recently recorded a video on this topic. If you’d like to watch it, please click here.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-13-21

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV) 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

We don’t want you to fret today, or waste time thinking of all the “what ifs”.

We don’t want you to look back and say, “I wish we could go back”, or wish things were the same as they used to be.

Who’s talking this talk? Are these the thoughts of our hearts today?

We can’t get caught in this trap of the enemy.

As believers, we must rise above our situation. We must take the hand of God and let Him lead us into victory.

So many hours have been wasted on these types of thoughts. And they are not doing us a bit of good. They will not move us forward.

These are thoughts that keep us standing still, in the same place, when we should be filling our lamps with oil.

We cannot stay here in this place any longer. We must set our face like a flint and march forward to the beat of God’s drum.

He is moving His children into a place that is safe, secure and strong? Let us move forward together.

We may not understand everything that is going on right now, but by golly we know the ONE who does. And He has our back. So, let’s follow His lead and let Him guide our steps

Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV) 6 So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.

Get up. Put one foot in front of the other, and march. We are going to win this battle by God’s Spirit alone.

Dear Father God in Heaven,

We all come together and ask You Lord, just as Hezekiah cried out for help (2 Kings 19:16). We too cry out, incline Your ear, and hear. Open your eyes, O Lord and see. This attack is truly against You. We need Your help and healing today. In Jesus’ name, You make everything beautiful in its time. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-12-21

Galatians 5:14 (NKJV) 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Love your neighbor.

Jesus said this was second only to loving God.

Loving God is easy. Loving others, though? Now that can be a challenge for all of us at times.

People can test us in every way possible. And when certain types of people start pushing our buttons, we have to rely heavily on the Holy Spirit to keep us loving them and not wanting to lash out at them and spew hatred.

The times in which we are living are especially difficult. The enemy is trying his best to divide and conquer. Nothing is “normal” anymore.

Some days it looks like he is winning, I will admit. But I know that God is on the throne and He is still in control of it all.

There are some things that just need to play out, and they can be painful to watch sometimes.

But our call is to keep loving people and letting God guide our every step. And that is exactly what I intend to do, even when it’s difficult to carry out.

No, none of us will ever hit it perfectly all the time. And sometimes we may miss it badly.

But if our spirit is willing, and our heart longs to please God, we will keep pushing forward and doing what we know is right overall.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-11-21

2 Kings 18:7 (NKJV) 7 The Lord was with him; he prospered wherever he went. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.

King Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king of Judah. He reigned 29 years In Jerusalem. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord.

He removed the high places, or places of pagan worship, broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made. For until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it.

He trusted in the Lord. He held fast to Him; He did not depart from following Him. He kept the commandments in his heart.

The Bible says, the Lord was with Him and he prospered wherever he went.

Why? Because although Hezekiah lived in this world, he was not of the world. He lived for God and did what was right.

Where are we today in our walk with God? That is what will make us or break us.

We can walk with or without Him. We can keep the commandments or throw them out the window.

Oh, yes, we can live the way the world does. Or, we can live in the world but not be of it.

John 15:19 (NKJV) 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

What is our walk like today?

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-10-21

John 3:13 (NKJV) 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

This particular verse is very interesting if we look at it closely.

Over the last 20 years or so, we have heard many stories of people going to heaven and returning to share their experience and insights.

Some of these people were adults. Some were children.

Whatever or whoever they were, this verse dispels their story rather quickly.

According to Jesus, no one (but Him) has bodily (physically) ascended to heaven and returned to tell about it.

So, if it comes down to having to choose between believing the story of another human, or believing the words of Jesus, it’s safe to say that the words of Jesus hold much more weight than the words of anyone else.

Now, this is not to throw stones at anyone. It is, rather, to promote truth and show lies for what they are. Anything that directly contradicts God’s word is only one thing; a lie.

You see, this is where God’s word comes in to lead us, guide us, show us truth and expose lies. And this is why it’s so important for us to spend time in His word, learning it and gaining understanding of it, by His Spirit.

Let’s not chase stories that make us feel good. Let’s unapologetically, passionately and relentlessly pursue God alone.

If we do this, and use His word as our guide, we will never fall for lies and we can never go wrong.
