Bible Verse of The Day – 8-20-21

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

There is something about submitting to God that changes our lives.

And on the flip side, in order to wholly submit to Him, we need to have reached a place in our lives where we have recognized His sovereignty, and we understand that His ways are higher than ours.

As the verse above says, if we submit to God, we will have no trouble resisting temptation.

But it goes much deeper than that.

You see, if we submit to God, our lives will take on a new direction. Why? Because our perspective changes.

We no longer live solely to please ourselves. We now give Him preferential eminence and put Him first in everything that we do, including the choices we make each day.

This comes with maturity in Christ.

Through submitting to Him we will be humbled. And it’s that humility that allows us to put ourselves aside and put Him first. Our pride eventually melts away, becoming a distant memory.

This is something that impacts every aspect of our lives. It’s not just about respecting Him or giving Him reverence. It spills over onto everything we do and everything we say.

So, if you’re struggling in certain areas of your life, consider submitting wholly to Him. It will put you on the right track in your walk with Him. And that will help everything else to eventually fall into place as well.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-19-21

Numbers 5:14 (NKJV) 14 if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him and he becomes jealous of his wife, who has defiled herself; or if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him and he becomes jealous of his wife, although she has not defiled herself…

We want to make people aware of the spirit of jealousy, so we can deal with it appropriately.

Any wrong spirit that tries to come upon us or overtake us must be dealt with, in Jesus’ name.

And then we must make the effort and take the steps to shut the door to it completely, to prevent it from coming back again and again.

People may think that jealousy is simply an attitude in a person. But the scripture says it is a spirit that comes on us.

We may have opened the door to it by the weaknesses of our attitude and the way we look at things. But jealousy in and of itself is a spirit.

If we are often jealous of someone or something, like maybe our neighbor or a family member, our best friend, or maybe even our children, we need to begin to take steps to address this.

The more we feed it, by continuing to be jealous of others, the stronger it will become.

How do we take the steps to starve this spirit of jealousy?

  1. We begin to take steps to stop it in its tracks, first by recognizing it in ourselves and asking God to help us see who or what we are jealous of.

  1. We need to teach our flesh to react the opposite toward these people that we are jealous of. For instance, if someone is getting a new car, bigger home, new placement on their job or having a baby, etc., we need let God teach our flesh to be truly happy for them, and not allow ourselves to open the door for that spirit to slip right in.

  1. We need to learn to nip it in the bud. As soon as we begin to see ourselves giving into jealousy, we need to immediately address it. The Holy Spirit will help us in this if we surrender it to Him.

This will take effort on our part. But, be encouraged today, because God is there to help us. And with His guidance, He will bring deliverance to us.

Say no to the spirit of jealousy. Let our hearts be happy for people and their blessings!! Let us keep our heart sound.

Proverbs 14:30 (NKJV) 30 A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-18-21

John 14:27 (NKJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Peace may be in short supply for some, as we all face various trials and tests.

Sometimes it may even feel hard to catch your breath.

We are here to tell you today that the peace you seek lies in one source; God Himself.

No person and no physical thing can give you the peace that God can give us.

To some this may sound cliché. To others it may sound like religious babble.

But it is, in fact, cold, hard truth.

For those of us who have walked through many difficult times that have been thrown at us by life, if we have held fast to God, we can testify to the fact that there is no peace like the peace of God.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

So, if your life is upside down and you’re struggling just to stay standing, hold fast to God.

Let Him hold you up and walk you through whatever you’re facing. Let Him put solid ground beneath your feet again. And let Him bring you out the other side with His victory.

Don’t bow to the enemy and let Him steal your joy. Bow, instead, before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And cling to Him.

Trials and tribulations will not claim victory in your life. Evil will not prevail.

Revelation 17:14 (NKJV) 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

So, if we’re “with Him”, we also cannot lose. We cannot be defeated.

Lift your eyes and fix them upon Him, the King of kings and Lord of lords. And let Him give you His peace.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-17-21

Matthew 7:24 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

This verse illustrates the absolute necessity of following God and doing His will. That is, the things He tells us to do.

His Word will guide us. We just have to be obedient in our listening.

Most importantly, we need to have His word working and alive in us. How do we get His word alive in us?

We read it and take it to heart. We don’t just skim through the pages and read it like it’s a regular book. We let every word penetrate our heart, and let it do its thing in and through us every day. We try our best, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to walk it out.

For instance, have you ever had a scripture seem like it leapt off the page and spoke directly to what you were going through at that very moment?

That’s exactly how it works.

Now, we can ignore that this just happened and totally go on our way. Or we can acknowledge it and press in to God, and ask Him, “What is it that I need to do?”. And then we do it. That is God’s word alive in us.

We should be wanting to spend time in His word even more once we realize the power that comes through reading and obeying the scriptures.

They will feed us when we are hungry. They will bring healing when we hurt. They will comfort us when we are uncomfortable. They will give us wisdom when we are confused about knowing how or what to do in certain situations.

His Word will bring protection upon us when the enemy tries to destroy us.

Psalm 143:9 (NKJV) 9 Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; In You I take shelter.

The amazing Word of God is our guide for our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-16-21

2 Peter 3:10 (NKJV) 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

As we watch the events of the day unfolding around the globe, those who have eyes to see may be wondering what all of this means with regard to the return of Christ.

More specifically, many are asking when.

There is a curiosity that causes us to ponder on the timing of the return of Christ and the judgment of God upon the evil that has taken place over the centuries.

This is a great question, and one that we all should be considering in one form or another in light of current events. But it’s also a question with no definitive answer. Let me explain.

God has purposely hidden the timing of these types of events from human eyes and human understanding.

Why?

Because God operates on faith in everything that he does. Our entire walk with Him is based on trusting Him, even though we have never seen Him, and we have limited understanding of the way He moves and operates.

And while there are many prophecies (hundreds and hundreds) that can give us a rough idea of some kind of markers to go by, so many of these prophecies are intertwined with each other, and with other events, that it is literally impossible to accurately sort them all out.

Jesus Himself said that no man would know the day or the hour of His return.

Matthew 24:36 (NKJV) 36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

It’s plain that God doesn’t want us knowing the exact timing.

With that said, though, here is the most important thing to know: We need to live like it’s going to happen today.

We need to walk with God as He desires us to do, pressed in closely to Him, letting nothing come between us and Him.

We need to be sure we put Him first in everything we do, giving Him precedence in every aspect of our lives.

And we need to keep our eyes on heavenly things, not worldly things, being sure to be ready if that day arrives during our lifetime.

Faith. Perseverance. Trust.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-15-21 – The Mature Believer

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ!

Today, we have a video that teaches us about maturity.

In this new video, The Mature Believer, we use a Biblical example to show and teach by example.

Maturity comes over time, as we grow in our walk with God and allow Him to change our heart.

This video was fun, and the Holy Spirit was moving as we taught and shared examples of the behavior of mature believers.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch it and let God speak to you through it.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We love you!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-14-21

Psalm 119:60 (NKJV) 60 I made haste, and did not delay To keep Your commandments.

How many of us hurry to do what God has asked us to do?

Or do we have to take our time and ponder on it? Maybe we even get the opinion of others on it?

Sometimes we may even wait until our backs are up against a wall before we make a move.

We need to get a new mindset. We need to be ready, in season and out of season, to move quickly when God says so.

How many times have we missed out on seeing God move mightily because we had to ponder or figure out why He is asking us to do certain things, a certain way in a certain timing?

Let’s not delay. Let us go hastily and obey Him in whatever He is asking of us to do. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-13-21

James 4:2-3 (NKJV) 2 …you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

As believers, it’s important that we understand some basic principles of truth so our walk with God will follow the path that God wants for each of us.

Part of that is understanding how God works when it comes to answering our prayers.

We all have desires that we present to God in our prayers; requests we make.

Some may base this on another scripture that states that God will give us the desires of our hearts.

Psalm 37:4-5 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

The key to this passage of scripture (and this principle) lies in the first half of verse 4, and the entirety of the latter verse (5). These parts lay the foundation for the middle part (He shall give you the desires of your heart).

In other words, those two pieces work to set things in motion to make the middle piece happen.

James says something very similar in the scripture at the top of the devotional, stating that we don’t get what we ask for because we ask with wrong motives that are selfish, revolving solely around our own pleasures.

So, how do we fix what seems to be an insurmountable obstacle?

We let God mold and shape our heart so that it begins to conform more and more to what He wants for us, instead of what we want.

As we do that, our desires begin to change, and they begin to line up more with who God is, not who we are. They are no longer selfish or self-centered in their origins.

Then we will begin seeing the desires of our heart given to us more frequently, because they line up more accurately with God’s desires.

This is something we teach about fairly frequently because we have learned the importance of it over many years of walking with God. And we want to pass it on so others can also understand it and benefit from it.

Put Him first in everything. Let Him change your heart and you way of thinking. And watch as He shapes your world.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-12-21

Psalm 96:2-3 (NKJV) 2 Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. 3 Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.

When I Woke up today, I was all over the place with my thoughts.

Does that happen to you? I mean really, first thing in the morning it has to start? I have to fight to keep peace and keep my mind under control.

It can be tiring and can wear me out before my day even begins.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV) 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Welcome to spiritual warfare.

We are at war, brothers and sisters in Christ, every day, trying to keep our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ.

Of course, some days seem to be harder than others.

Do you feel the battle raging more than ever before?

It’s real. We are fighting to keep our relationship and our closeness with God. The enemy would love to stick a wedge between us so he can pry us apart.

That is the war we are in, my brothers and sisters, to hold onto God and keep that closeness tight. No space in between.

One thing that helps me the most is starting my day with praise and prayer. I know it’s hard to do some days when we are under constant attack.

Our thoughts are everywhere, connected to everything; even things that are not for us to be concerned about. The way the enemy gets us is by trying to make us fearful.

The way to resist the enemy when we are in a place like this is to proclaim the good news. Declare God’s glory and wonders among all. Sing and pray. Don’t let fear grip our mind. keep our mind soundly on Him, and keep going.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-11-21

Hebrews 13:14 (NLT) 14 For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

As we walk through this season of trials and tribulation, and I watch the world move into end-times events, God impresses upon me more and more that this is not our home.

We are merely passing through.

So much has changed, and it has removed any semblance of stability from the world, reminding us that our hope does not lie in the world or its things, but in the Creator of this world, our great God and Father.

It’s amazing to see Him move, even in the midst of such prevalent evil and such human unrest.

Oh, if we only look on the surface, we may not see Him. But if we allow Him to open our eyes, we can’t help but see Him in everything that’s happening.

You see, if we stay too comfortable here, with our roots dug in too deeply to the things of the world, we will never want to leave. We will never truly want to see His plans carried out and His purposes fulfilled.

But as we draw near and nearer to Him, our grip on the world (and the things of it) will begin to loosen, and we will begin to look forward to seeing Him move and carry out His plans.

We will begin to find less pleasure in the things that once brought us great joy and fulfillment. We will not long for those things anymore. But instead, we will long for Him and His desires.

We urge you to press in to Him. Let Him show you great and mighty things, bringing new understanding to your heart and your spirit, like only He can do.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-10-21

Psalm 119:37 NKIV) 37 Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way.

Who is such a person that can turn their eyes from looking at worthless things?

Is this a perfect person that never sins? Is this a person that never thinks of the worst? Is this a person that has no problem with facing life’s situations.

No, but it is a person that God has revived in His way. A person that has submitted to Him and allowed Him to bring a change to their heart.

It is a person that knows they need God’s help at all times. And cries out for their Helper to guide them in all situations.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Children of God, we must turn our eyes from looking at worthless things. It is our eye that affects our whole being.

Matthew 6:22 (NKJV)  22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.

Don’t get distracted with worldly or personal changes around us. Keep our eyes and heart on Him to the end. Amen.
