Bible Verse of The Day – 9-30-25

John 20:7 (NKJV) 7 and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself.

After Jesus Christ died on that cross for our sins, they brought Him down from the cross. His body was prepared for burial and placed in a tomb.

As Mary came to the tomb on the third day, she saw that the door was taken away from the tomb and Jesus was not there.

She went to tell the other disciples and they came to see.

Simon Peter went in and saw that the linens Jesus was buried in were all there, but the handkerchief that had been around His head was folded together and placed by itself.

What an amazing thing to witness. The empty linens and the folding of the handkerchief spoke volumes, for they had not yet known or understood the scripture that He must rise again from the dead.

John 20:9 (NKJV) 9 For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.

Jesus had a purpose; it was finished! He defeated death, He rose from that grave and was alive again!

John 3:15 (NKJV) 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

Because Jesus rose from the dead, salvation was made possible for those who put their faith and trust in Him!

And with that salvation also came the hope of us all rising from the dead, just as Jesus did,, and spending eternity in God’s presence.

Thank you, Jesus!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-29-25

1 Corinthians 6:3 (LSB) 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?

Paul taught the Corinthian believers that they (we) would one day judge angels.

That’s not something that we often think about. And it’s probably fair to say that many of us didn’t even know this until just now.

But that’s OK. It’s not meant to be something that we spend lots of time dwelling on or trying to figure out.

The important thing is that we understand why Paul taught this, and what context it was written in.

If we look at the first few verses of 1 Corinthians 6, we will see that Paul is addressing the believers in Corinth about taking each other to court to resolve differences between them.

He admonishes them, telling them that if they are going to judge angels, they should be able to work out their personal differences without embarrassing the body of Christ by suing each other.

Paul’s intent was not that we make our future job of judging some of the angels a focal point.

It was simply a point he made in passing, while trying to help the Corinthian believers see the futility of taking each other to court instead of working out their differences and disputes as mature adults and followers of Christ.

Considering this, as Paul taught the believers in Corinth, let us also learn to resolve differences between us, being mature in our faith, and not letting our differences divide us and pit us against each other in front of the world.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-27-25

Matthew 16:24 (NKJV) 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

The earth is just our mission/battlefield.

We are here for a purpose. Let us take it very seriously and walk out the plan of God with integrity, joy, and strength in Christ.

We have a Helper. And He will guide us on this journey. What is it that He is laying on your heart today?

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Say yes to our Helper today, and He will prepare us. He will open doors for us to walk through. He will give us what we need to do what He has for us to accomplish.

Let us take up our cross today and follow Him in what He has for us to do, and not look back!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-26-25

Romans 8:28 (NKJV) 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Sometimes, as we watch things happening around us, we have questions.

We wonder, aloud, and in our minds, about why and how certain things happen.

We sometimes see great harm come to people who are good, and even godly.

And we see evil people who never seem to face consequences for their actions.

And we question why.

And while this is a legitimate question from a human standpoint, we must be careful not to let our questioning cause us to begin to doubt God and His purpose.

We may find ourselves doing this when we see meaningless deaths. Whether it be via massive catastrophes or individuals who died needlessly for what seems to be no good reason, we wrestle to understand it all.

One such death happened recently, which I wrote about previously this week; the assassination of a young man of God whose mission it was to teach an upcoming generation of young adults who God is, and the truth of His word.

His death was sudden and shocking; totally unexpected. And it has caused shockwaves around the globe, across the nations and across a diverse group of peoples.

As I pondered this, seeking God’s guidance and wisdom to understand it all, He led me to two verses that I hope will help others reconcile this terrible occurrence as much as it helped me.

I pray that what I share is received properly, and that it does not cause confusion.

God showed me two verses. One of them is at the top of this devotional. The other, I will share shortly.

You see, God does not cause murders. He does not cause assassinations. He does not cause mass casualties.

But amid these kinds of tragedies, He can use them to bring about incredible good.

The recent murder of a well-known Christian man has left his wife and two young children behind; a widow, and two fatherless children. It is truly tragic.

But in this man’s death, God is causing millions around the world to take action that may not have happened otherwise. It is causing a spiritual stirring that may well have laid dormant had it not been for this terrible event.

It is important that we recognize this during times of tragedy. We must see everything through spiritual eyes and allow God to show us His purpose in everything.

And with that said, here is the second scripture for us to ponder.

Genesis 50:20 (LSB) 20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to do what has happened on this day, to keep many people alive.

Just as Joseph spoke these words to his brothers, I share them with you today, to bring understanding, clarity, and hope to you.

What man intends for evil, God will often use for His purpose, for GOOD.

And, yes, it can be hard to see sometimes. But if we allow the Holy Spirit to help us see past only what our minds can comprehend, we will begin to understand things in a new way; a way that brings us peace that we never knew we could have in situations like these.

So, we urge you to listen for God in the midst of the storm, the chaos, and the sometimes-overpowering waves of emotion that hit us when terrible things happen.

There, in the middle of that powerful storm, God will be whispering, beckoning us to draw near to Him and hear His voice.

And it is there that we find our solace.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-25-25

James 4:14 (NKJV) 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Life is a vapor.

Our mind does not want to understand the fact that we do not know what will happen tomorrow.

It’s in our nature to plan, to have control, and to take charge of our life. If we were told that tomorrow is it for us, it would devastate us.

Even as Christians, knowing that we will be with the Lord upon our last breath here on earth, for some reason we do not want to let go of what we have here.

And it is safe to say that most of us do not want to leave.

When I watched a man take his last breath a few years ago, I realized how fragile life is in all of us.

He was talking, thinking, looking around, and breathing one minute, and then in a matter of seconds he was gone. Just like that. No more breath, no more voice, no more laughter. His shell was there but his life was gone.

We are all human. We are magnificently designed, but our life is a vapor; we will vanish. Whether today, tomorrow or years from now, our day will come.

Understand that there is a bigger picture then just living on earth with our family and friends.

We must make sure that we are ready for our home in heaven. Know who our Father God is, and what His Son, Jesus Christ, came and did for us.

1 John 3:1 (NKJV) 1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-24-25

Acts 17:28 (LSB) 28 for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His offspring.’

It is in Him that we live.

When the world around us is in complete chaos, He is our peace.

When everything we know falls into pieces, He is our foundation.

When evil becomes almost overwhelming, and nothing makes sense, He gives understanding.

And when darkness has overtaken, He is our Light and our Hope.

In Him we exist.

Without Him, we can do nothing.

Without Him there is no life.

Without Him there is only darkness and death.

But with Him there is joy everlasting, and life in abundance.

And with Him there is light that overcomes the darkness.

We must not let the things we see happening overtake us.

It is now that we need Him more than we ever have.

He is our security, our hope, and the Giver of life.

Let us keep our eyes fixed intently on Him.

He will never fail us.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-23-25

Revelation 3:19 (NKJV) 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

To be zealous means to be actively and passionately committed to doing what is required regarding that thing that we are zealous about.

In this scripture it is referring to being zealous about drawing near to God and repenting of worldly ways.

God loves us so much, He will chasten us, correct us, and help us to take care of that thing which will destroy us.

And that thing, my friend, is our heart.

Our hearts are deceitful, and desperately wicked, according to Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV) 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

This is why we need Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross for us all.

He brings salvation to each one that repents of their sin and believes in who He says He is; the Christ, our Messiah, the Son of the living God.

He was crucified and died on the cross, and in 3 days He rose again!

He shed His blood to save us from the wickedness of our hearts; hearts that would lead us right into hell for eternity.

We may say, “well, I’m not that bad. I try to do everything right. I give to the poor, I love people, I follow the golden rules, etc.”

The heart can even cause us to think we are doing alright in God’s eye; it can keep us in a state of negligence.

Why? Because of its pride painting our own beautiful picture of who we are. Our own heart can deceive us.

It will work overtime to avoid asking God for forgiveness. Our very own heart will try and talk us out of what is the best thing that could ever happen to us.

Bring that heart into check!

Wherever we are today, let us acknowledge the state of our heart, and repent, putting our faith in Christ and asking God for forgiveness.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-22-25

Luke 5:32 (LSB) 32 I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”

Earlier this week I witnessed the assassination of a young man of God. He was a husband, and a father to two very young children.

He was mercilessly killed for boldly sharing truth and the word of God and trying to help a generation of young people who have lost their way.

Seeing this was horrific, and it affected me deeply.

It showed me a level of evil that is truly hard to comprehend.

And it showed me the uncertainty, fragility, and brevity of life here on earth.

The only consolation in his death is the fact that he was a child of God; a strong believer in, and lover of Jesus Christ.

He is home now, in the presence of God.

For the first 24-48 hours after his death, I wrestled with several emotions.

The first was pure sadness. I mourned his death. And I felt sadness for his wife and two children, knowing that their lives are forever changed.

And I wrestled with what I was feeling about whoever took his life.

Anger, frustration, and a desire to see the killer punished were very strongly rising up within me.

But I also knew that the perpetrator of this terrible crime needs Jesus.

And as I was going about my daily things this morning, God gave me a clear breakdown of this, and how we should view it as believers.

We should want to see justice for this killing. Laws were broken, and God’s commandments were violated. Choices have consequences, and punishments must be handed out for violating those laws.

But we must also desire that the killer see his/her own heart, and the evil that is at play within them to have carried out such a heinous act, and repent before God, begging for His mercy.

If this person is caught and convicted, they will likely spend the rest of their life in prison. But if they truly see their lost state, and they sincerely repent and turn to God, He will forgive them and create in them a new heart, and make them a new creation.

And in that, their life could become fruitful, and their soul would be eternally saved.

Let us be sure not to get caught up in becoming so focused on seeing justice that we lose sight of God’s desire that every man and woman should bow before Him in repentance here on earth, so they can also spend eternity in His presence, worshiping Him with the rest of the saints and the angels.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-20-25

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

As a young woman told me the story of what happened to her recently, she shared that she almost died.

It opened the door for me to ask her this very important question.

“Do you know where you would go if we had lost you?”

She looked at me like, are you kidding? And I continued to explain there are only two places we go when we die; heaven or hell.

She looked at me and chuckled, and said, “I think I’m probably going to hell.”

I said to her, “it is my responsibility right now to help you know for sure.”

As I started to explain this, I could tell she wasn’t interested. I clearly sensed she wasn’t at all concerned.

She made a statement to me; “maybe there’s another place to go to besides heaven or hell.”

And on that note, I mentioned that “if it was me, I would want to know for sure rather than to wait and find out that I’m wrong.

Please don’t let yourself be in this same situation.

Let us be safe and know for sure the way to Heaven; one way, through Jesus Christ.

It’s not a game. It’s Heaven or hell.
