Bible Verse of The Day – 2-10-25

Psalm 71:5 (NKJV) 5 For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth.

Hope.

It is a word we use daily.

I hope you are OK. I hope things work out. Let us hope for the best. That is my hope for you.

And while this implies wanting the best to happen, what is this hope founded on or rooted in?

Do we ever stop to think about this?

Hope expressed by the masses can be a simple emotion; a genuine desire that something goes the best way possible. It is well-meaning, but without a foundation to hold it up.

It can be encouraging, but does it produce fruit?

There is nothing necessarily wrong with this. But let us look a little more closely at what our hope is founded on as followers of Christ.

As children of God, we have a hope that is rooted and grounded. It is built on the one, true Foundation; God Himself.

We have a reason to express hope and hold onto that hope, primarily due to the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave.

This is an eternal hope; one that has implications for every life far beyond our time here on earth.

In God’s word, Peter wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that we are to rest our hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought at the revelation of Jesus Christ. There is nothing that sums it up more perfectly than this.

1 Peter 1:13 (NKJV) 13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

And, finally, Paul exhorts us to abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13 (NKJV) 13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

So, let our hope be genuine, and built solely on the foundation of our God, who alone gives hope that is true.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-25

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Do you feel drained? Are you running on empty?

Don’t keep going like this. You will crash. Stop before it’s too late.

We must bring ourselves to a point where we can find the rest we need.

Most times it’s just us accepting that we are tired, admitting that we need to slow down, and allowing ourselves the time we need to get that rest.

The three places where rest is needed are our body, our mind, and our spirit.

Once we reach a certain point, and we don’t get the proper rest, we can cause damage. We must take a break before we break.

We can never put our work ahead of taking care of ourselves.

We must watch for the signs.

Signs of tiredness or fatigue.

Signs of a constant negative outlook about everything.

Signs of no tolerance.

Signs of spending less time with God.

We need to see the signs and take the necessary steps to replenish ourselves. We need to get built up again, in the word and in prayer.

This is a reminder for us all today not to neglect ourselves; to come to Him and He will give us rest.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-7-25

Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

As we study the word of God, many times it can be critical to pay close attention to the smallest of details.

This verse is a perfect example of that.

This is not an earth-shattering doctrinal revelation, but a simple lesson in looking at things that may go unnoticed if we are not attentive or vigilant in our studies. Sometimes those subtle things can teach us valuable lessons.

Here, we will study the difference between saying, here I am, and here am I in the verse above.

If we are looking or calling out for someone we already know, and we have no knowledge of their exact whereabouts, we might simply ask, “where are you?” And that person would call out, “here I am!”

But if we are seeking a volunteer from among multiple people for a specific purpose or task, someone who is willing to take on that task would not say “here I am.”

They would likely say, “choose me, or pick me!”

Isaiah heard the voice of God asking, “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?”

Having a willing and obedient heart, Isaiah wanted to be chosen. He wanted to be God’s workman!

So, what did Isaiah say? Did he say, “here I am?”

No. He said, “here am I!”

This was not Isaiah saying, “I am right here.” It was Isaiah saying, “choose me, God. I want to fill this need. I want to be on Your team!”

Again, this is not a huge spiritual revelation. But it shows us the heart of Isaiah, and his willingness to be used by God for whatever the purpose might have been.

Isaiah did not ask God what the task was. He did not tell God that he would do it based on whether it was difficult or not.

He simply stated, “here am I. Send me. Use me for your purpose”

And God used him mightily, in ways that Isaiah never could have imagined.

Let us be like Isaiah, jumping up and down, waving our hands, and shouting, “here am I, God. Use me!”

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-25

Psalm 121:1-3 (NKJV) I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.

When things get difficult, and we have no answers, we must understand that, really, it’s OK.

We can’t let fear grip us. We can’t let discouragement creep in, and we can’t forget Who we belong to!

God is for us.

In these moments, we need to reach for His word, and take time to pray. We should pull back from activities and spend time drawing near to Him.

He will guide our steps, give us wisdom, and fill us with His strength to get through it.

As we go through life, we will face some things that can take our breath away. But we need to remember Who gave us that breath in the first place.

Genesis 2:7 (NKJV) 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

And just as we trust Him, He will deliver us.

He will not delay.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-5-25

Job 1:21 (LSB) 21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be the name of Yahweh.”

Sometimes we need a gentle reminder to help us put things in life into proper perspective.

The world we live in has a way of getting into our heads, playing games with our minds and our thinking.

And if we are not careful, we will fall into the mindset that tells us we must forfeit our lives in search of stuff; wealth and material things that are more than we need. And we work our lives away in that pursuit.

But as we mature, and we gain wisdom and understanding, we begin to see things in a different light. We begin to recognize the spinning of our wheels in pursuit of tangible things for what it is; chasing after the wind.

Yes, God wants to bless us. He wants us to have the necessities of life.

But a life spent with the primary goal of amassing wealth simply for the sake of having wealth is not what we are instructed to do.

Solomon had more wealth and material possessions than anyone before or after him.

And what did he say in the latter years of his life? It is all vanity and chasing after the wind.

This should be an eye-opener for us. We are no different than Solomon.

We are born, we live, and we die. We come into the world naked and empty-handed. We leave the same way; naked and empty-handed.

This would appear to be our lot as human beings.

But our relationship with Christ sets us apart from the world.

We have hope, not in the things of this world, but in Christ and the redemption He offers us through His shed blood.

Let us determine in our hearts to pursue Him relentlessly, placing Him and our relationship with Him high above all else in this life.

And as we do this, the other pieces of our lives will fall into place by God’s grace and His faithfulness.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-4-25

Esther 7:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Then Queen Esther answered and said, “If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request. 4 For we have been sold, my people and I, to be destroyed, to be killed, and to be annihilated. Had we been sold as male and female slaves, I would have held my tongue, although the enemy could never compensate for the king’s loss.”

Up until the point in the verses above, despite being the queen, the wife of the King, Esther had not revealed her people or her family to the King. Out of obedience to Mordecai, the man who had raised her, she was not to say anything.

Esther 2:10 (NKJV) 10 Esther had not revealed her people or family, for Mordecai had charged her not to reveal it.

She would never have told the King if it wasn’t for the plot that came against Mordecai and all the Jews.

This plot was being carried out by a man named Haman. Haman wanted to destroy all Jews throughout the kingdom of King Ahaseurus.

Word of this plot got to Queen Esther. And at this point in time, she needed to let the King know who she really was and what was being planned in order to destroy her people.

For the longest time, she had to keep it silent. But now, at this moment, she needed to speak it.

By revealing that she was a Jew, everything was turned around. The evil that was being perpetrated against the Jewish people through Haman was immediately null and void!

As she obeyed and waited for the perfect timing to reveal her identity, God’s people were preserved, and rescued from ruin.

Esther, the beautiful, orphaned Jewess, was brought in at this specific time to save her people!

You just never know how important our obedience to God is at times. The effect it may have on many others.

What is God asking of us today? Do we need to be silent, or do we need to speak up?

Are we going to be like Esther? Can He use us for such a time as this?

Obedience is the key for God to be able to use us at any given time.

Doing it His way is everything we need if we are to be victorious in what He asks us to do!

Psalm 18:30 (NKJV) 30 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-3-25

Psalm 52:1 (NKJV) 1 Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually.

The true goodness of God is unfathomable, and immeasurable!

Many times, we lose sight of His goodness. This is especially true if we have been through a season that has been tough.

Sadness and frustration can work against us and cause us to see only the bad things if we are not careful to allow the Holy Spirit to guide and temper our thoughts.

But God’s goodness does not waiver. And it should never be judged by the bad things we endure in life.

Jesus told us that trials and tribulations would come. But He also told us to be of good cheer, because He had overcome the world!

John 16:33 (NKJV) 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

As we navigate the things that life throws at us, let us always keep God at the forefront of our hearts and minds, remembering that His goodness never falters or changes.

As we trust in Him and look to Him for our help and our solace, He is faithful to deliver.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-1-25

Genesis 2:3 (NKJV) 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Our work can surely keep us busy.

There is so much to do in a day. I find myself some nights thinking about some of the things that I so wanted to get done but I wasn’t able to complete.

The things we don’t get completed during the day can take away our rest at night if we let them.

It can be difficult to meet our own expectations at times. Why do we put so much on our plate? Why so much demand?

I’m entering this year with a plan; a plan to not be so hard on myself, and give me some time to take it easy, to rest.

I want to spend less time being too busy.

I want to be sure to make time to take a walk on the beach, time to sit and read more, and to be able to just stop at times to praise God and thank Him for the little and big things.

I want this year to be a year of getting even closer to God than ever before, and not worry so much about things that are out of my control.

The days go by so quickly. And starting now, I will be spending my time working on gaining more of God and less of worldly problems.

This will be my focus.

My Rest will be in Him, by keeping my mind from racing and focusing my quiet time and my thoughts on Him.

What is on your plate today that can be removed so you too can take rest?

Do we need to balance out those portions, helping us rest and stay steady in the natural and in the spiritual.

Let us look at our portions and adjust them accordingly.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-31-25

Proverbs 29:16 (LSB) 16 When the wicked increase, transgression increases; But the righteous will see their fall.

When wicked people increase on a mass scale, the quality-of-life in that city or nation declines proportionately. Morals decay. Definitions of good and evil seem to be reversed. And mayhem takes over.

As we have watched government after government topple over the last several years, we have been witnessing firsthand the truth of this verse.

We have seen nations crumble under the leadership of wicked regimes who drive out God-fearing, moral, ethical leaders and install themselves in their place by forceful or corrupt means.

This is not a political statement, but one that proves the truth of God’s word.

Evil people take power not because they care about the people of a nation, or because they wish to strengthen a nation’s economy.

On the contrary, they wish to rule over the people and lord their authority over them, wielding that power like a mighty weapon to force the people into submission.

These newly installed governments institute practices that cause economies to completely crumble. Morals decline rapidly. And the wellbeing of that nation’s people slides into oblivion as chaos rules.

This sounds much like something the devil himself would orchestrate, doesn’t it?

And it is in perfect alignment with what the verse above so aptly states.

But fear not, people of God. Because evil can only hold power for a season before it falls away and God brings punishment upon them.

And we, the children of God, will witness their demise.

We should not gloat about their fall or their calamity. But we should remain humble and rejoice that God has prevailed on our behalf, giving Him the glory and honor.

And as God’s people pray and fast, holding tightly to His promises and maintaining His morals, God will hear those prayers, and see the fervency of His people’s prayers. And He will bring victory and healing to their land.

And when He does, let us be sure to honor Him and give Him all the glory and honor He deserves.

Amen
