Bible Verse of The Day – 1-8-25

Psalm 119:114 (NKJV) 114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.

As Israel’s king, David had many adversaries.

He was well-known for his strength and might as a warrior, and as a man of God.

God’s favor in his life was a fact that caused his enemies to hate him. They also feared him for that same reason.

But their fear was not enough to keep them from pursuing him or conspiring against him.

And David knew it.

So, what did he do?

He trusted God.

He prayed. And he expressed his fears and his dismay for the people who relentlessly tried to kill him.

It was such a situation that caused him to speak the words above, admitting that God was his hiding place; a safe place from the onslaught of violence and threats from those same enemies.

Now, if David, who constantly feared for his life, could trust God with his situation, what do we have to fear?

What is it that is causing us to fear? What is causing us to be in anguish? What is causing us to lose hope or to doubt God?

The threat of death is something we would usually consider the greatest threat we could ever face.

But David faced those same threats and trusted God with his life. If what we face is anything less than the threat of death, why would we not trust the very same God with it?

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-7-25

Matthew 5:27-28 (NKJV) 27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

With God, we don’t always have to play something out physically, He watches the heart.

We may be able to fool people, because they can’t see our heart. They can only discern by our actions, our words and thoughts.

We can be deceptive with people and put on a good front. We can hide our feelings inside pretty well.

We may not be committing sin on the outside, but what is going on inside of us?

God will judge our heart.

What is it today that we are hiding?

Do we need to come clean?

If we were to bare our heart on a table right now, what would we see?

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-6-25

Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

This verse is popular among followers of Christ, as it gives encouragement to those who hear it and may be struggling with stress, anxiety, etc.

But there is much more to this verse than what appears on the surface. So, as we often do, let us dig in and see what it means in its fullness and in its proper context.

To do that, we must go back and see exactly what is being referred to here.

Technically, this discourse begins in verse 1 of chapter 3, as Paul exhorted the believers to leave behind the carnal ways of their previous lives and live as new creations in Christ.

But Paul homed in on the principles of the verse above in verse 12, where he taught the Colossian believers to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering when dealing with each other, forgiving each other as Christ forgave them.

And then he drove his point home, telling them to “put on love, which is the bond of perfection”, which enables them to practice such attributes as kindness, patience, meekness, etc.

It was then that he encouraged them to let the peace of God rule in their hearts, after preparing their hearts in advance for what he was about to say.

And then, he taught them what is required to do so; letting “the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom” that they may teach and admonish each other in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in their hearts to the Lord.

You see, the word of God is the foundation upon which everything about our walk with Him is built upon.

It is the word of God and the Holy Spirit by which we live, grow, and mature as believers.

We must feed our spirits with the food of His word. It is our sustenance. Without it, we wither and die.

Let us feed daily on His word, growing in understanding and truth, that we may please Him and reflect His glory in all we do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-4-25

Hebrews 10:19-20 (NKJV) 19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,

Being confident to enter God’s presence is founded on the blood of Jesus. Oh, praise be to God for sending His Son!

We can come boldly to the throne.

We can come knowing that He will hear us.

We can come knowing that He loves us, He forgives us, and He will help us.

Through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, there is a new way that we are consecrated. This new consecration comes through the sacrifice of His precious and pure blood on that cross.

He died for us so that we can come to God, to have a loving relationship with the great and omnipotent Father.

Are we ready to draw near to Him? Are we ready to have a wonderful, fulfilling relationship with Him?

Come to Him boldly, knowing you are his son or daughter, and that He is there for you! Amen.

2 Corinthians 6:18 (NKJV) 18 “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-3-25

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

This short verse was part of a prayer as David repented before God for his affair with Bathsheba, and the murder of her husband afterward.

This was a low point in David’s life. He had done the unthinkable, taking another man’s wife and then having him killed in battle so that man would never know of David’s transgressions against him.

David was far from perfect. But he understood the importance of being accountable to God, and the importance of repenting for this terrible sin.

How many times do we fall to temptation, but fail to acknowledge it?

We often even deny it in our own minds, trying to justify our sin or explain it away.

We need to own up to our failures and bring them to God right away.

In David’s case, he hid his sin. He tried to run from it.

He only came clean when he was confronted by the prophet, Nathan. Nathan addressed this sin and made it known that David would pay for it by the loss of the son whom Bathsheba bore in their affair.

Let us not wait, as David did. If we sin, the worst thing we can do is to ignore it or try to run away from it.

We must bring our sins to God right away, confessing them and repenting before Him receiving His forgiveness and letting Him help us and teach us what we must do to overcome the things that keep ensnaring us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-2-25

James 3:15-16 (NKJV) 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

So-called wisdom that leads to bitter envy and self-seeking, or selfish ambition, are not from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.

Self-seeking and bitter envy are characteristics of the unspiritual man. They are the lust of the flesh. They lust, they have wrong desires, and they mess with unclean things which open them up to demonic influences.

Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Those who have Christ, the one who allows his/her heart to be changed by the Holy Spirit, will walk in good conduct and his/her works will be done in the meekness of wisdom.

This is the difference between walking in the flesh, living without Christ, or living with Him and walking in the Spirit.

When we become a child of God, His Spirit will rest upon us and give us the wisdom, the understanding, and the strength we need to avoid and defeat the fleshly desires that rise at times.

Isaiah 11:2 (NKJV) 2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

We walk in His wisdom, His understanding, His might and fear. These are the characteristics of a believer; a child of the Most High God. Thank you, Jesus.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-1-25

Acts 4:13 (NKJV) 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

There are many things we can glean from this verse when it comes to the effects of our relationship with God on our lives.

This relationship with our Creator and Redeemer is not benign. It is not without consequence or impact. Or at least it should not be as such.

Spending time with Jesus brings change.

Jesus impacted the lives of untold numbers of people during the brief time He walked the earth and ministered to those who came to hear Him speak and teach.

He changes the lives of those whom He touched, physically and spiritually.

Jesus spent three years with His disciples, teaching and shaping them for what was to come after His ascension.

And based on the verse above, He was wildly successful in doing so.

The disciples were uneducated, untrained, and unrefined in the eyes of the world.

But in the eyes of God, they were powerful; mighty men that He used to attack and break down the powers of darkness on a global scale.

How does our own relationship with Jesus affect us or impact others?

Do they see and hear the effects of this heavenly relationship in our lives?

This is not about intellect or knowledge in the earthly sense.

How has Jesus changed us spiritually, in ways that impact the kingdom of God?

How does our presence in places affect the atmosphere?

These are the questions we need to ask ourselves.

Do people around us know that we have been with Jesus?

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-24

Romans 8:28 (NKJV) 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

God is everything to those who love Him!

When will we understand that in Him all things work together for the good?

If we are worried today, we must remember that if we are in Him, it will all work out.

If we love Him, we don’t need to fret or be worried about life; about what we need. He will be there. He will supply everything we need in His timing.

How does one know? Because He has promised us, and He will keep His promise if we trust Him.

What is His purpose for us today?

We have all been called to trust and acknowledge Him, to be a light, and to spread His love by loving one another.

As we do, He will direct our path.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-30-24

1 Corinthians 7:3 (NKJV) 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

There are some topics that can be sensitive, and even difficult to approach and teach due to that sensitivity.

This is one such topic. It deals with matters that are of a private nature between a husband and wife. Yet it is important enough to warrant wading into it despite its sensitive nature.

When a man and woman become husband and wife, they are entering into a relationship that God lays out specific requirements for. It is a union based on vows (a contract) that are binding in His eyes.

Part of any marriage is physical intimacy. It is how God has created us, and how He has ordained the marital relationship to be.

In the verse above, God’s word clearly states that the man and woman are obligated to render to each other the affection (physical intimacy) that they are due (in need of).

It is not honorable for one or the other to withhold this physical part of the relationship from their spouse.

Physical intimacy should never be used as a bargaining chip. It should not be withheld from the other by one as a means of getting their way or making demands of the other.

1 Corinthians 7:4 (NKJV) 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

Respect and honor must be given by both in this area.

Abstaining from physical intimacy should only be done by mutual consent by both parties, usually for the sake of dedicating oneself to prayer and fasting.

And when that is done, it should be only for a time, after which the couple should come back together so as not to fall to temptation due to lack of their desires being satisfied.

1 Corinthians 7:5 (NKJV) 5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

And finally, intimacy is not something that should be forced on one by the other. Again, there should be mutual respect and agreement between the two in all matters related to physical intimacy.

Physical intimacy is something that God designed to be beautiful and fulfilling between a married couple.

Let it be kept and upheld as such, honoring God in the process, and strengthening the marriage relationship.
