Bible Verse of The Day – 1-15-26

Isaiah 46:4 (NKJV) 4 Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

My Mom & Dad taught us about faith when we were children.

They taught us about how God will carry and deliver us. They taught us to never stop believing.

They both worked hard.

And there were seasons when things were tough.

At times we would have to carry buckets of water up from the well when our pipes in our old farmhouse froze.

But Dad and Mom raised us to be content and thankful with what we had. And we as children thought we had it all!

We had much more than money could ever buy. We had parents that taught us how to trust God. And their examples of walking it out it drove it home for us.

With 10 children, you can imagine what it took just to feed all those mouths. But God, made a way for us. We were never forsaken and left begging for bread.

Psalm 37:25 (NKJV) 25 I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.

As children we spent a lot of time most days doing our chores, but also having time with Mom and Dad at supper every night. They were always there with us.

Parents, the “little things” matter.

Money will not keep your children safe from the evil in this world. But spending time with them and teaching them to walk with God and have faith in Him will.

It will carry them through the hardest moments they may have to face in their life.

Keep life simple and show them by example how to walk by faith.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-14-26

Matthew 27:45-46 (LSB) 45 Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?

Sometimes the concept and truth of Jesus being a full-on human being is hard for our minds to grasp.

He was, after all, Immanuel, God with us.

He was God, yet He was man.

His in-body human experience was full, not partial. He was born as a man and spent roughly 33 years walking the earth, showing us who God is through His words and His actions.

He felt everything that you and I feel in our lives; joy, pain, laughter, suffering, temptation, discomfort, weariness, and betrayal.

He proclaimed to everyone that He did only what His Father showed Him to do and spoke only what His Father told Him to speak.

John 12:49 (LSB) 49 For I did not speak from Myself, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment—what to say and what to speak.

Jesus also wept, showing His human side in a way that every other human being can relate to.

But His most human, vulnerable moment was shortly before His death, as He cried out the words, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

Not long after, He spoke one last time and then surrendered His spirit up to the Father.

Luke 23:46 (LSB) 46 And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” Having said this, He breathed His last.

You see, Jesus was fully surrendered to the Father. This was His example to us, His followers.

We must not just attempt to mimic His words or His behaviors. But let us truly surrender ourselves to God in a way that carries weight, rendering us as bondservants of Christ, wholly committed to Him in everything we do.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-13-26

Psalm 23:3 (NKJV) 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.

I like how the word restore is used in this verse.

To restore something or someone means to bring it or them back to former conditions.

In the beginning, before Adam and Eve disobeyed God and He  sent them out of the Garden, they had a good relationship with Him. It was pure, and they were close to Him. They were safe with Him.

But things changed when they disobeyed Him and failed to follow His instructions.

All our lives were affected by this one act of disobedience that took place in the garden with Adam and Eve. Everything was brought to a halt.

The relationship that was there was no longer the same. Our lives were changed.

But thank God He doesn’t leave us orphans.

John 14:18 (NKJV) 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

He chose to come down and restore us back to Him. Praise our glorious Father in heaven!

Our salvation in Christ is just that.

It is a complete restoration of our right standing with God, bringing us back to the beginning, when He first created us.

Jesus Christ is the restorer for our souls. He was God’s answer to getting us back in that righteous relationship with Him.

John 3:17 (NKJV) 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-12-26

John 20:24 (LSB) 24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

After Jesus rose from the dead, He showed Himself to some of the disciples at different times.

Some disciples who were not present to witness the resurrected Jesus in the flesh had to rely on the hearsay of others.

Thomas was one who had not yet seen Jesus with his own eyes. And he was skeptical, to say the least.

In fact, he insisted that the only way he would believe that Jesus was alive was if he was able to physically place his fingers in the wounds that Jesus received during His crucifixion.

This was a bold proclamation on the part of Thomas!

John 20:25 (LSB) 25 So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

Eight days later, Thomas had that opportunity as Jesus entered a room, despite the door being shut and locked, and stood in their midst.

John 20:26 (LSB) 26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”

Jesus also went on to say something that implies something that is easy to miss.

John 20:27 (LSB) 27 Then He said to Thomas, “Bring your finger here, and see My hands; and bring your hand here and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.”

Jesus used the very words that Thomas had spoken to the other disciples, despite not being there to hear them.

The words He spoke proved who He was; God in the flesh, Immanuel.

And it impacted Thomas instantly in a life-changing way.

John 20:28 (LSB) 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”

Thomas experienced a redemptive moment; a split second in time where he wholly surrendered to the risen Jesus, God with us.

May we all experience a “Thomas moment”; a point in our lives where we see our faults and failures, falling on our knees before God, crying out, “my Lord and my God, I am wholly yours” 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-26

Matthew 23:11 (NKJV) 11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant,

True greatness is measured in terms of serving.

Jesus provided the highest standard of service in His death on the cross.

As we follow Christ and allow Him to change our hearts, we will find ourselves serving others more than usual.

Servanthood will become part of our very nature.

Serving others is not something to be ashamed of. It is the very thing that Jesus did for us.

When Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came to earth, He took on the form of a bondservant.

Philippians 2:6-7 (NKJV) 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

A bondservant is someone who makes a voluntary, lifelong commitment to another’s will, choosing to remain with them out of love, loyalty, and devotion. Such is Christ’s relationship with His Father.

The closer we get to Christ, the more we are willing to take on such a commitment. Servanthood will take over. And it will be an honor to serve God and whoever He puts in our path.

The closer we get to Christ, the more the servant’s heart will grow in us.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-9-26

Psalm 24:8 (LSB) 8 Who is this King of glory? Yahweh strong and mighty, Yahweh mighty in battle.

This verse is an excellent reminder of Who we serve.

He is the Lord, strong and mighty!

He is not just mighty in little things. He is mighty in battle!

Has He called us to do something? He will empower us by the Holy Spirit to do it.

Has He shown us something? He will give us understanding by the Holy Spirit.

And when He has directed us to change something in our lives, He will give us the power to obey Him by His Spirit!

God has not created us to be weak and fearful.

He has created us, you and me, for a purpose.

And He will equip us to walk out that purpose.

Remember that we are not orphans. He has adopted us, grafted us into His vine.

Romans 11:17 (NKJV) 17 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them…

And as He prunes us, He is setting us up so that we may be able to produce a harvest of good fruit.

Let us walk out what He shows us to do by the power of the Holy Spirit and bring glory and honor to His name in the earth!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-8-26

Psalm 150:6 (NKJV) 6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!

On this beautiful Sunday I am in awe at how blessed I feel today.

It’s not that I don’t have any problems, that everything is hunky dory, or that life is perfect. But something much greater happened in my life many years ago.

I found the way, the Truth, and I found life!

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

I found God and His wonderful plan for redemption.

It is not just for me, but for whoever believes in the name of Jesus Christ and repents.

John 14:1 (NKJV) 1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

Jesus says it best; you believe in God, believe in Me also!

Who is Jesus Christ?

He is the Son of God who came to save us!

So here I am. And yes, I have things going on that need addressing. I have troubles just like you.

My life is not perfect or problem-free. But my heart is not troubled. Instead, it is at peace.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

I rejoice in the Lord for giving me such peace. No matter where I stand in this life today, He guards my heart and mind.

I’m His child and He is my salvation. Praise the Lord! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-7-26

Revelation 16:1 (LSB) 1 Then I heard a loud voice from the sanctuary, saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”

As I have recently been working my way through the book of Revelation, through the lens of Biblical prophecy I have seen confirmation of the great depravity of the world.

Now, this could cause great anxiety or depression.

But I am a child of God, And I know that this is all part of what was spoken of through the prophets centuries ago as He revealed His plans, that we might not be ignorant.

I rest securely in Him. I have no fear or worries.

Instead, I have great hope!

Because I am a blood-bought follower of Christ, I know who wins in the end. I’ve read the Book, and we already know how the story ends.

Does the condition of humanity, and the massive presence of evil in the world bother me?

Of course it does. It is devastating to watch people around the globe descend into what can only be described as demon-inspired sin and utter depravity, ignorant to the destruction they are hurtling toward at breakneck speeds.

But I also know that the love of God, and the plans He has, are bigger and more powerful than anything the devil can scheme up.

So, we would like to encourage you today. Do not let the difficulties of the days we live in cause you to become distraught or fearful.

God is giving us glimpses of His light and His power.

Set your face like a flint and fix your eyes squarely on Him, the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

He truly holds the future in His hands.

And if you are His child, He holds you in those same hands.

Take comfort in Him and rest in His peace that surpasses all understanding.

Amen 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-6-26

Matthew 7:7 (NKJV) 7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

I find this verse to be very comforting, and it brings stability to me at times when I’m struggling with anxiety.

God is saying, “ask!”.

It’s very simple. But most times we forget to ask.

Is there something we have not asked Him for yet? Is there something we are letting get the best of us?

And if we have asked, are we trusting Him to deliver? Because the next verse says it all.

Matthew 7:8 (NKJV) 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

There we go; for everyone who asks, receives!

We must have filial trust.

Filial is a deep, childlike reliance and confident submission to God for His answer, timing and deliverance of that answer.

And while it may take time to show up, what does it say for us to continue doing?

Matthew 7:12 (NKJV) 12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

So, stay busy doing good things for others even in our midst of waiting for our answer.

This is obeying God as we wait on His promise in good faith!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-5-26

James 2:19 (NLT) 19 You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.

In our lifetimes we will come across many people who say they believe in God.

And those same people will believe in their hearts that they will enter into God’s kingdom when they depart from this earth at the time of their physical death.

In fact, you will likely encounter more people of this mindset than those who admit that they don’t know whether they will enter into heaven or not.

The sad truth is that the vast majority of those who claim to believe in God and feel confident in their eternal security in heaven will not enter in.

Why?

Jesus spoke these words about the large number of people who choose the wide, easy road in life.

Matthew 7:13-14 (LSB) 13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is constricted that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

And He also stated this:

Matthew 7:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!

You see, it is one thing to say that we believe. It is yet another to obey God to prove our faith.

Yes. Obey.

Even the demons believe that there is one God. And they tremble because of this truth. But they do not obey God.

So it is with people. We can believe in God. But do we obey God?

Obeying is what sets true children of God apart from those who think they are saved but have no foundation.

These may sound like harsh and judgmental words. But look at what John wrote.

1 John 2:3 (LSB) 3 And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.

John was speaking about more than just obeying the Ten Commandments”. He was referring to obeying God’s word as a whole.

This is not obedience based on rituals or rote mechanics.

It is obedience based on a sincere love for God that pricks our conscience and causes that love to make us want to obey Him, not just go through the motions.

So, we ask this question today.

Do we believe in God, or do we obey Him?

The difference between the two means life or death for eternity.
