Bible Verse of The Day – 9-29-14

John 15:13 (NKJV) 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

Have you ever questioned God’s love for you?

Have you ever doubted that God could love any of us?

I have. You see, I’m a thinker. I have a personality type that makes me a logical person. I like to reason things out and try to understand everything.

And to be honest, sometimes I have thought long and hard about whether God really loves us as much as so many people tell us that He does. You know, unconditionally.

I mean, the vast majority of us are really quite unlovable once we get past our church faces and our public facades. And I don’t say that to be rude or accusing. It’s just the way it is with so many of us.

We can have bad habits. We can think bad thoughts. We can do bad things to each other. We can just be downright mean sometimes. And we do this while trying to convince everyone how nice we are or how godly we are.

So I’ve asked God about it, on many different occasions. One of those occasions was this past weekend while I was out fishing.

And it isn’t some deep question. I just asked Him if He really does love us unconditionally. And He answered me rather quickly. YES.

He does love us unconditionally. And the proof is in the fact that He sent His son to die for us, even while we were (and are still) vial sinners.

Romans 5:8 (NKJV) 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

So if you’re a logical thinker like me, rest your weary, inquisitive, logical mind and know that you are, in fact, loved by the Creator, very, very much!

And here’s one more little tidbit for you to start the week off with. Being a logical thinker doesn’t mean that I have to have answers for all of my questions. It just means that I have to have bigger faith in an awesome God 🙂

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-12-13

John 13:35 (NKJV) By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

Jesus spoke these words as a way of telling us what is most important.

It is not how we judge others. It is not by how many scriptures we memorize or can quote to people.

It is not by how well we can debate with non-believers. It is not by how many different Bibles we own, or how many times we have read them from cover to cover.

It is not by how articulately we speak or pray. And it is not by how big our church is, how many baptisms we do each year or by how nice the worship team sounds.

No. He didn’t mention a single one of those things.

He said that others will know we are His disciples by our love for one another. And let me assure you that He didn’t just mean our love for fellow believers.

Jesus wanted to make sure we know that our love for people, whether they are believers or not, is what will show them that we are His disciples.

Love breaks down barriers. Love conquers hatred. Love breaks the chains of sin. And love turns away wrath and anger.

Love shows people who God really is, without ever quoting a single scripture or requiring a person to step into a church building.

Love conquers all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-18-13

Jude 1:20-21 (NKJV) 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Keep yourselves in the love of God.

Did you know that we are required to “keep ourselves” in the love of God? Many people might not think of this, mainly because there is so much teaching on God’s unconditional love. And while God does love us unconditionally, what Jude was referring to here is a bit different.

God loves us unconditionally, as we are. He sees us through the cross, not as the vile sinners that we are.

But what Jude was referring to here is how we, as followers of Christ, must keep ourselves close to God. He instructs us to build ourselves up in our faith, pray in the Holy Spirit, keep ourselves in the love of God and look for (trust in) the mercy of Jesus Christ as the vehicle for our salvation.

You see, it’s not that we must work to keep God’s love, but we must work to keep our love for God growing inside of us, so as not to let it fade away or die off.

There are so, so many things that can pull on us, moving us slowly away from God. And if we’re not careful, we will grow away from Him before we even know it’s happening.

We need to be diligent and keep our discernment razor-sharp so that this won’t happen to us.

Remember, God’s word says that if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. Our relationship with Him requires effort, and we will get out what we put in.

Press into Him.

We love you all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-8-13

(Isaiah 45:22 NKJV)  “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.

As we begin our new week let us look to Him. He will guide us and give us Peace on our journey.

Last week was just one of those weeks for us. It was coming from every direction! Smack, bang, boom! Oh and while your trying to get up, BAM, here’s another one!!

My husband and I were tired when Saturday came. He hooked up with a buddy and went fishing. I was just going to stay in and lay low. It seemed like it all hit me at once… it was more than I could handle.

So here I was, all alone…or so I thought. I was just letting it all out on my living room floor, crying like a child. There may have been no people around me and I thought no one could hear me, but I knew God was right beside me. Deep within me I felt His Peace and the words that came to me were,”it’s alright.”

These two words calmed me right down, and in moments I began to feel better. I felt a relief as I looked to Him. He took it all and the heaviness was gone. I got up and began to sing and went about my business. I had a great day!

He was there for me; He saved me in my time of need.

There is NO other like Him. Amen!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-1-12

(1 Peter 5:7 NKJV)  casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Casting all our care upon Him…what an awesome God to tell us to cast them all.

He doesn’t just want the huge cares, or the average ones, not even just the small ones. He wants us to cast them all, right down to the little bitty cares… the things we don’t think God cares to hear about. Those are the things He wants us to cast on Him, along with the others.

He wants all of our concerns, so we don’t have to worry. He wants to help us fix things so we don’t have to be burdened with them any longer.

I find it so exciting and humbling when God takes care of the simplest things for me. I guess because He is so magnificent, I expect Him to pay attention to the big things that I need, but for some reason I think that He doesn’t care about those little things.

But, He does… He really cares. He cares about all the things that concern us.

Why? Because He loves us and wants to help us through them. He wants us to rejoice with Him as He helps us get to the end of our problems.

Today, let’s do as He asks and cast all our cares. Trust that He will pick them up and work it out.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-1-12

(3 John 1:2 NKJV)  Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

We just wanted you all to know how much you bless us.

Each night as we sit and prepare the Bible Verse of The Day to go out to thousands of people all across this world, we think of the one. The one that is hurting, the one that is lonely, the one that may be suffering in any way, the one that is struggling to know and feel God’s love.

It is only by the Spirit of God that each need is met and each heart is touched. We get letters and emails from all over… of how God touched that ONE; How He is changing their lives, changing their hearts, healing their bodies, and opening doors for huge opportunities!  It is God!

He loves you, and He wants you to prosper in ALL things!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-29-12

(Luke 2:10-11 NKJV)  Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. {11} “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

I sometimes wonder what it must have been like to have lived in this era, when the angels came to announce the birth of Jesus, the savior of the world. My mind can’t comprehend what this must have been like.

But it happened. God sent His son in the form of a baby, born in the lowliest of places. Jesus lived his life with a purpose and fulfilled that purpose, dying the cruelest death on the cross.

This happened over 2000 years ago. Not a generation has gone by since then that hasn’t known about this incredible event. Some chose to believe it, while others have chosen to claim that they don’t believe it at all. Others claim not to have any opinion at all.

But we, the followers of Christ, have a mission of our own. Our mission is to take the love, grace and mercy that we found in Christ and pass it on to others.

We are to love people, even when they are unlovable. We are to accept them as they are, not do everything in our power to change them so we can bring them to God. We are not to judge people… not for how they look, where they come from or any reason that we can think of.

WE are to love them!!

It’s the love of God that draws people, not our criticism, our judgments or our opinions. Jesus came to die for us, and do you know what? He died for them too! And before we were children of God, we were one of them!

Love them all, even when they are unlovable.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-26-12

(1 Cor 13:8 NKJV)  Love never fails…

There is actually more to this verse, but today we want to focus on one thing; LOVE.

Love is the ultimate expression God has given us to show others how much we care. It isn’t meant to be mushy or overly emotional, but it does need to be genuine and sincere.

Love isn’t what TV and Movies make it out to be. It has become twisted and perverted and not at all how God intended for it to be.

But love as God intended it to be is pure and without motives. It isn’t used to gain something or get our own way. It isn’t manipulative.

God loves us without condition or fail. His love is steadfast and constant. If there is one thing that we can depend on, no matter what happens, it’s God’s love. It will never change or go away.

So today, know that God’s love never fails. He loves you no matter what you have done or what you have gone through. And know that God has given us His love so we can hand it out to others, with no strings attached and with no motives.

His love, whether directly from Him, or given to others through us, is truly life-changing.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-12-12

(2 Pet 3:9 NKJV)  The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Do you ever wonder why it seems like the return of Jesus is taking forever? Why does it seem like the end times never really come?

God is not willing that any should perish. He has held off on His return so that we, His people, can spread the gospel to “the uttermost parts of the earth” and give everyone an opportunity to embrace Christ.

Nobody knows the day or time of the return of Jesus. But there is one thing that is safe to say, and this is that the entire world has not yet been evangelized. There are still people groups in the world who have not heard of God’s love and the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross.

People of God, we still have work to do!! We need to love the people around us and shine God’s light. We need to take God’s word and His love to those in other nations. It is God’s love that we need to share and bring to others.

God loved the world so much, that He gave His son for our sins. We need to love Him and spread His love, all the way to the ends of the earth.

Then, and only then, will He return.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-21-12

(Jude 1:2 NKJV)  Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

We’d like to take today and thank you all for helping us with Seven Seas Ministries’ Bible Verse of The Day!

We are so appreciative of you and your support. We can not do this without you. We have realized that this world is full of hurting, hungry, homeless, lost, struggling people.

Since we started the Bible Verse of The Day, many people have written to us and told us how they have been saved, healed, delivered, how they have grown closer to God and how marriages have been restored!

You have been right their with us, reaching out to all those in need as you continue to lift us up in prayer, as you encourage us to keep going and as you send in your financial support.

This ministry started with one person on our mailing list and has grown tremendously. We can’t even keep track of how many actually get the verses each day because we send it to the ones who have signed up to receive it and many have told us they forward it to others.

God is doing a MIGHTY work and we are so honored to be a part of what He is doing! We Are Giving Him All The Glory!!

Today, from our hearts, we pray the verse above, with sincerity, for each one of you!

Thank you and may you continue to draw closer to God!

Love in Christ,

Pastor Curt and Pastor Ellie

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-13-12

(Mat 9:11-12 NKJV)  And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” {12} When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

It’s so easy sometimes to fall into the same trap that the Pharisees did in this scripture, pointing our finger at someone because they were hanging out with the wrong people.

Jesus spent time with the people who needed Him the most; the sick, the weary and the sinner. He ate with them and talked with them. He showed them love and compassion and He gave them truth, even when it was difficult for them to hear it.

And most of the people he spoke the truth to listened to Him and accepted what He had to say. Why is that? Why did they listen to Him and not run away? Because He spoke to them with love and compassion, not with judgmental, harsh words while looking down His nose at them.

This is a valuable lesson for us all to learn. Sometimes our flesh can get pretty riled up when we see or hear certain things and we can say some pretty harsh things to people. Instead, we need to learn to do as Jesus did and LOVE these people with our actions and our words.

Love is the most powerful thing God has given us to use in teaching others about Him. Let’s walk it out every day, starting with today!
