Category: Surrendering to God

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-12-17

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Salvation, healing and restoration take place on the inside of us when Jesus comes into our lives, when we believe God’s word to be true.

People say “well I don’t see or feel any change. Sometimes I still do the same old things I did before I was a Believer, a Christian or child of God”.

When we believe God’s Word, and all that He says about His Son, Jesus Christ, and we repent and put our faith in Him as our Savior, things begin to change on the inside of us. Whether we feel or see the change or not, we are being changed.

Some things are going to take us longer than other things. However, it has begun!

The most important thing to remember is that we will change depending on what we surrender to Him and depending on what we allow Him to work on in us.

If there are things that we feel we are still in bondage to, we need to ask God why. Maybe we are holding on to a small, but yet significant piece of something.

As we let go of those things and surrender them to Him, we will see change taking place in us, a little at a time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-28-17

Matthew 19:21 (NKJV) 21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

This verse has been used literally millions of times to teach people about the importance of not letting material possessions or worldly wealth come between us and our relationship with God. And rightly so.

But God showed me today that there is also a symbolic side to this verse that many of us may never have noticed. A double meaning that will show us even more about this.

When Jesus told the rich young ruler to sell all he had, he was also referring to selling himself out, surrendering himself completely to God.

Because we can sell all of our worldly goods, all of our material possessions, and still not enter the kingdom of God.

You might ask “how can that be?”.

You see, we can surrender our possessions and still never fully surrender ourselves. We can give those things away, but hold a grudge in our heart about it.

So if our heart isn’t right, and we give all of our material goods away, but we still don’t surrender our hearts, we have lost everything. We have no worldly goods, and we still don’t have a strong walk with God.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NKJV) 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

So let’s be sure that we follow both parts of this verse; the literal part and the symbolic part!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-14-13

1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV) But as it is written:”eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

There are times when I get so frustrated with the things of this world.

Whether it’s corrupt government, ridiculous taxes, human ignorance, human wickedness, corruption and idolatry in the church or anything else that we could all think of. Some days just seem like the bad outweighs the good by such a huge margin. It makes it truly hard to keep our attitude right and keep our eyes on the good things.

But I always have a knowing deep down inside that none of what we do for God while we’re on this earth is in vain. And this is one of those verses that just drives that point home.

No matter what we have to battle here and no matter how hard it can sometimes seem or how frustrating it can get dealing with human bureaucracy, know-it-all spirits or outright miserable people, nobody can ever take away the promises of God.

And he has promised us that no eye has seen and no ear has heard, and no human mind has ever even imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love Him.

And for me, that’s enough.

Press into Him, people of God. And never stop looking upward or moving forward in His name.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-7-13

2 Samuel 12 (NKJV) Then the Lord sent Nathan to David…

The verse shown above is just the beginning of an exchange that took place between Nathan, the prophet of God, and King David. God had sent Nathan to David to chasten David and expose the evil that he had done.

God chose to have Nathan confront David in a way that wasn’t confrontational at all, but used wisdom, instead, to help David see his error.

God will sometimes use people to help us see where we’ve gone wrong because there are many times when we want to hide our sins and try our hardest to pretend that they don’t exist.

In one other instance, God actually caused a donkey to speak, to rebuke a man (Numbers 22:21-31). So we never know who God might choose to use to speak to us and give us direction in our lives.

But the worst thing we can do is either ignore the instruction or correction, or argue with the person bringing it to us. Sometimes it can be hard to see our own faults and our own sin. And other times we just plain don’t want to admit when we’ve done wrong.

But we can be sure that if we’re following God, He will do whatever is needed to correct us and bring our feet back onto the right path.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-15-13

James 4:7 (NKJV) Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

In everything about our lives, God has given us the freedom to choose.

We have the privilege of choosing right or wrong. We have the privilege of choosing to follow God’s leading for our lives or not.

We have the freedom to choose how we spend our time. We have the freedom to choose how we spend our money.

So the question today is this: Are we honoring God with our decisions and our choices?

Some things are so basic and pretty easy to figure out. But some choices are a little tougher. Sometimes we have to seriously stop and ask God “which choice will please you?”.

Much of what we decide is related directly to where we’re at in our walk with God. The depth of our relationship with Him will greatly effect the choices we make.

Sometimes what might seem like the most straight forward decision to make can be much more intricate when we seriously consider how God would want us to carry something out. Despite the fact that common sense plays a huge part in a lot of our decisions, sometimes God’s “logic” will fly in the face of human logic.

This might seem to be confusing at first, but as we press into God and submit ourselves to Him, and learn His ways and what He wants for our lives, it will begin to become more clear. And as each decision or choice comes along, it will become easier and easier for us to make “God” decisions versus “good” decisions.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-7-13

(2 Kings 6:17 NKJV)  And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw…

There are times in life when we just don’t see things the way God would like us to see it.

The reason is that we are often too scared, negative, doubtful, emotional, or too caught up and busy to see it. But God wants to help us in this area!

Do you ever find yourself asking God over and over, “what is it?” So many times we are asking Him to show us what to do or how to handle things and we just can’t see it no matter how hard we try.

Well, He sure isn’t ignoring us. It’s just we are not seeing it. We’re not completely surrendering our plan and opening ourselves up to His plan.

We have to ask God to open up our eyes, just like Elisha did for his servant; and then, when He opens our eyes to see it, we don’t 1. try to do it ourselves and 2. run the other way because it looks too hard. But instead, we surrender to Him and say “Yes Lord”!

Let God open our eyes today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-8-12

(Gen 39:2-3 NKJV)  The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. {3} And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand.

The way to prosperity is through submission… submission to God, wherever He puts us and whoever He puts us under. Submission, that wonderful word, means – “an act of submitting to the authority or control of another”.

In the book of Genesis we read how Joseph prospered. Joseph was very submissive to God and those God put him under.

Take some time to read about Joseph’s life, starting at Genesis 36:3. Joseph went through some hard times in his life, but in the end it all worked together for good.

Here is just a little summary. Joseph’s brothers were jealous of him and wanted to kill him, but they ended up selling him into slavery instead. He was bought for a man name Potiphar and Joseph served him. Potiphar was Joseph’s master.

Potiphar’s wife made false accusations against Joseph and Joseph was sent to prison. He eventually got released from prison by interpreting a dream for Pharaoh and Joseph was eventually set up in charge of all of Egypt.

No matter where Joseph was or what he was doing, he prospered. Even in the not so good places. Joseph did not run from his situation, but stuck it out and waited on God to deliver him. Submission brings Victory!!

Today you may be struggling and want to run from the place God has you in. But, these are the times we need to submit and see our situation through to the end.

God will prosper us in His timing and when He sees we are ready.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-1-12

(1 Cor 6:20 NKJV)  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins. He bought us with His very own blood and His life.

As I was out for a walk in the evening, God impressed upon my heart to share a message with you today about casual Christianity. There are hundreds of thousands… possibly even millions of “casual Christians” across the globe.

These would be the people who have made a confession of faith at some point in their life, accepting Christ as their savior. But for one reason or another, they have never gone beyond a casual relationship with Him, keeping Him at arm’s length.

I want to speak to you today if you are a casual Christian. This is not to condemn anyone in any way whatsoever. But it is to urge you to move beyond where you are at right now and give Jesus your WHOLE being. He is worthy of our entire life. After all, He bought it with His own life!

If there is something stopping you from surrendering, give it to God and let Him have it. Try to understand how much God paid for you and that He wants 100% of you. He deserves to have 100% of you.

Give yourself over to Him. Let Him sit on the throne of your heart. There is nothing in your life that’s too big for Him to handle.

You will never know true peace until He is your everything.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-25-12

(John 10:11 NKJV)  “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

Jesus is our Shepherd and we are His sheep. He gave His life for us. Who dares to say that He does not love us? No matter what we have done or been through, He is here for us. Nothing will keep His love from us.

Love Him back today. Give Him your life. If you have been on the fence and you know that you need to make a move, don’t wait. Do it today.

He is our Good Shepherd. He understands us better than we understand ourselves. All it takes is for us to surrender. He is already there waiting with His arms open.
