Bible Verse of The Day – 4-12-25

Isaiah 32:8 (NKJV) 8 But a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand.

To devise means to use knowledge and imagination to think of or to plan something.

The generous man thinks about how and what he will do for others. Or he devises ways he can give to help organizations that help others.

Being generous is something that stands out and draws attention. Most people that are very generous don’t want any recognition regarding the things they do for others. They just want to do it and go unnoticed.

They mostly just want to see that happy smile and the joy that often shows up on the one that is getting help or on the receiving end.

That is a reward in and of itself. It brings great satisfaction and joy to the generous one that money or recognition could never provide.

Maybe we are not the type of person to give randomly, or at all. Can we learn to become generous?

Absolutely!

There are many ways we can start.

First and foremost, we should be very generous with our sowing to God. That is giving of what we earn.

After giving to Him from our firstfruits, if we still have excess that we wish to give, ask Him to show us other areas or ways to share in being generous with others.

If we are serious in wanting to be generous, He will provide ways of being able to give.

Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV) 25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

We can enjoy the blessings that we will reap as we are faithful in being generous and doing it with the right heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-11-25

John 14:1 (NKJV) 1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

Jesus came in human form, not in power and might, but in meekness and humility.

He was all God, yet all man, that He might show us His compassion.

Jesus did not live in a castle or mansion. In fact, He said He had no place to lay His head.

Matthew 8:20 (NKJV) 20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

Jesus did not do signs and wonders to show that He could dominate.

He did signs and wonders to show God’s love to humanity.

Jesus did not spend time with the rich and powerful, looking to gain favor with them.

He spent time with sinners; liars, thieves, and adulterers, that His words might lead them to repentance.

Jesus did not use His authority to overthrow kingdoms.

He practiced love and compassion to bring the kingdom of God to earth.

Jesus did not use His intimate knowledge of people’s hearts to shame them.

He used it to cause them to repent and seek forgiveness.

Jesus did not defend Himself when questioned by Pilate.

He used that moment to speak truth to Pilate, telling him that he only had whatever authority had been given to him by God.

And Jesus did not use His great power to escape the beatings and the cruel punishment He endured on the cross.

He humbly, willingly laid down His life for the entirety of humanity, demonstrating God’s incredible, unfathomable love for you and for me, that we might have the opportunity to embrace the gift of God’s mercy and gain eternal life with God.

If you are troubled today, consider the greatness of these things and what God has done for you.

Ponder His great love, compassion, and mercy over your own life, and where you would be without Him.

Thank Him and give Him praise for His faithfulness. And then lay your troubles at His feet and surrender it all to Him.

He can handle it much better than we can.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-10-25

John 15:9-10 (NJKV) 9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

As we obey the word of God and keep His commandments in our lives, our lives will abide in His love.

Now, we know that only Jesus Christ is perfect in doing this.

But as we allow the Holy Spirit, our Helper, to lead us each day, we too can keep His commandments.

It’s not easy living in a world full of sin, prancing its stuff right in front of us every day. But no one said it would be easy to do what is right.

His word says, “if you keep My commandments”. That’s a big if. We need our Helper to do what is undoable by human standards!

As we obey God and the things He says to do, He promises us that we will abide in His love.

The most important thing we can do is ask Him to help us by filling us with the Holy Spirit. He will teach us all things and remind us of things in His word.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Thank you, Lord. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-9-25

1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV) 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

If one thing is abundantly clear throughout God’s word, it is that God cares more about the condition of our heart than He does about our appearance.

It is what resides inside us that matters most.

The words in the verse above were spoken as the prophet Samuel viewed the many sons of Jesse while searching for the man he would anoint as the next king of Israel.

Jesse had brought all his sons out, except for David, because of their physical appearances. But in the end, David was chosen.

Why did God choose David? Because he had a heart after God.

Here are the words of Samuel when he informed Saul that God was removing him as king over His people.

1 Samuel 13:14 (LSB) 14 But now your kingdom shall not endure. Yahweh has sought out for Himself a man after His own heart…

We must understand that at the foundation of our walk with God is one major variable; the condition of our heart.

That one thing will govern every aspect of our relationship with God.

God knows our heart. He knows us better than we know ourselves.

Psalm 139:1-3 (LSB) 1 O Yahweh, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. 3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.

Jesus, being God in the flesh (Immanuel, God with us), also knew the hearts of the people He encountered.

In Mark 8:11-12, the pharisees challenged Jesus, seeking a sign from heaven.

Knowing their hearts and their intentions, Jesus rebuked them, saying in Mark 8:11-12 “no sign will be given.”

While teaching His disciples, Jesus said the following, explaining it is what lies on the inside of a man that makes them unclean:

Matthew 15:18-20 (NKJV) 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

So, let us remember the importance of our heart’s condition and the motives behind what we do and what we ask for.

It really does matter.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-8-25

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

In what ways can we give?

We can give kindness, love, and compassion to others.

We can give a helping hand.

We can give material items.

We can give of our finances.

These are a few very common things that we all have available to us.

It’s our decision whether we follow through as the Holy Spirit leads us in our giving. Sometimes common sense will tell us what is needed at that moment, but other times He will prompt us.

We don’t always have time to think about what we need to give, we just need to be ready and open. Sometimes we can miss out on a very important moment to give if we spend time thinking, considering, pondering, etc.

What are we giving today? It will be measured back to us.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-7-25

2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV) 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

As followers of Christ, it is important that we never stop learning.

Learning of God and His ways paves the way for us to better understand Him. And that understanding leads to stronger faith and trust in His ways.

God desires that we mature in Him, leaving behind our days as spiritual infants.

Think about it.

How would we as earthly parents view our children if they refused to grow up and become responsible adults?

That’s a pretty sobering thought, isn’t it?

We are told many times throughout God’s word to get knowledge and get understanding.

Those words were written with a purpose; to emphasize the importance of learning in the life of a child of God.

In fact, Paul encouraged Timothy to be ready in season and out of season to speak God’s word!

2 Timothy 4:2 (NKJV) 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

This can happen only if we put forth the effort to be prepared. No one can do it for us.

And as we put forth the effort, God will give the increase, helping us to better understand the things we read and study.

And our efforts are never in vain. The understanding we gain as we learn His ways will benefit us in every aspect of our lives.

Best of all, the knowledge we gain will give us a greater trust in God through everything we face. Our joy will increase, and we will walk in God’s peace in ways that we would never have imagined possible.

So, we urge you to press into Him and learn. Never stop learning.

Let it be a lifetime pursuit that changes your life in every possible way.

You will never regret it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-5-25

Proverbs 4:5 (NKJV) 5 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.

Paying attention to seasons, or changes that need to come in our lives, is crucial.

Making the right decision at the right time will be easy if we trust God’s leading and obey Him each step of the way.

Some people today have never been led by God in their decisions. They have always made up their own mind. They have always decided on their own what to do, and then just did it.

They never inquired of God for His wisdom and what He wanted for them in the matter.

It is just the way they have always done it, even as a Christian. They never think to ask God anything regarding the decision that is before them.

And you know the first thing they do when things don’t turn out right? They blame God for not helping them. For not being there for them. For not saving them from making a big mistake.

It is very sad. And sometimes they walk away from God because they feel that He failed them.

If we want His wisdom on anything, we simply need to ask Him. If we are sincere in wanting His guidance, He will be faithful, not only to give us wisdom, but also an understanding of that situation as well.

So, let us not neglect to seek Him when we are in the decision making process.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-25

Romans 11:17-18 (NKJV) 17 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, 18 do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.

Let me state right up front that I am not a tree farmer. Nor am I an arborist.

I know truly little about trees except for the fact that they have branches, some grow exceptionally large, and most grow leaves on them!

But during my lifetime I have heard little tidbits about the practice of grafting branches from one vine or tree into another tree.

And that small, grafted piece of tree attaches itself to the adopting tree and begins to grow as if it was always part of that bigger tree.

Beyond that, I know absolutely nothing about it.

Unbelievably, though, this topic is Biblical and has great spiritual implications.

Let me explain.

Jesus spoke of Himself in John 15:5 as the vine and said that we are the branches. He then stated that if we abide in him (stay attached to Him) we will bear much fruit, but apart from Him we can do nothing.

Very plainly stated!

But Paul, under the inspiration and leading of the Holy Spirit, expounded on this more deeply in Romans.

In the two verses above we see that some branches (Jews who rejected Jesus Christ) were broken off (separated from God due to their unbelief).

And in their place, we being wild olive trees, (non-Jews who have put their faith in Christ) have been grafted into the tree where the original branches (Jews) were broken off. And we partake of the root and the fatness (richness and nurturing) of the olive tree.

This can be a bit mind-twisting to sort out and make sense of. But it is important that we do so because it gives us a stronger, deeper understanding of some of the deeper aspects of our faith, and of the love of God.

Knowing these things helps us develop a deeper appreciation for the love, mercy, forgiveness, and favor that God displays to us, His grafted-in wild branches.

Let us also remember the words of Jesus, when He emphatically stated that if we abide in Him, we will bear much fruit, but without Him we can do nothing.

Thank you, Father, for grafting us into Your tree 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-25

Ecclesiastes 3:4 (NKJV) 4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance…

When someone passes from our life, we will feel the bond that we had with them break. It will leave a place inside us that is empty.

We will feel it.

That does not mean that it will remain empty. That empty feeling is there only a short while until it is filled again.

How long that spot remains empty depends solely on us.

The one thing we need to be sure of is that we don’t let that empty spot be filled with the wrong thing.

Sometimes bitterness and anger will try to fill it up quickly. But know that it is not what God wants for us.

When we cry out for His help, He will fill that emptiness once again with the things we love. He knows us better than we know ourselves, so trust Him. He will get it right if we follow His leading.

If you are struggling today with emptiness because of someone you have lost, and you don’t know what to do or how to handle it, please join me in this prayer.

Dear God,

You know the pain and emptiness that I feel every day. It’s so big right now. I am not even able to help myself. I really don’t know what to do with it. Please help me to get past this feeling. I need Your strength to get through it. Help me to mourn, and to push through this pain.

I ask You today for help. I want to laugh and dance again!

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-2-25

Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV) 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

We recently took a trip back to RI and CT to see family that we had not seen in quite some time.

The flight from NC to CT was extremely late at night. And the plane was full.

As most planes are, the seats on this one were tight to sit in and it offered little in the way of comfort. Pastor Ellie ended up sitting across the aisle from me and had struck up a lively conversation with two other ladies in that row, so I just hunkered down and listened to some music for the short 90-minute flight.

While we were jetting through the skies at 30,000 feet, with darkness all around us, I began to ponder various things of God.

Being in the sky led me to think about the bigness of God, and how small everything else is when compared to Him.

And this is something that most of us fail to comprehend in its fullness. The earth is big. The skies are even bigger. And when we consider the depth of the universe, it boggles our minds.

But God is bigger than all those things. He is the Creator of them all!

He simply had to speak words to make it all happen and come together in perfect unity and balance.

And yet, despite all that, He loves us and cares for us more than we can fathom.

And because He loves us so immensely, He redeemed us from our sinful selves by the blood of Christ, God incarnate.

He did that for you, and for me.

Why?

Because of his immense, unfathomable love for us. A love that our human minds cannot comprehend, nor can we accurately emulate.

So, if you are struggling today, if you are feeling alone, if you are down, if you are walking through a tough season, ponder on this incredible love that is bigger than we will ever fully know.

And understand that His love for you is that big.
