Bible Verse of The Day – 1-14-25

Genesis 1:2 (NKJV) 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Why did God create the heavens and earth? Why did God form man? What is man’s purpose here?

Why did He create the heavens and earth?

God saw an empty, dark place without form. It was what we would call, nothing. He took it and brought order out of that nothing.

When something is created, it means that it did not previously exist. He turned nothing into something beautiful.

For what purpose? For Himself. It all belongs to Him!

Psalm 24:1 (NKJV) 1 The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.

Why did He create man and woman?

Man was formed in the image of God. He wanted man to resemble Him. And He wanted man to have dominion and handle it correctly, following after Him and all His ways.

Genesis 1:26 (NKJV) 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

How would we ever resemble Him? If you want to resemble anyone, you would do what they do.

In this situation, we would follow His guidance through His word. Every word in the Bible is God-breathed, bringing instruction in righteousness.

2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…

If we don’t know what to do, we must ask Him. He will help us find the right answer.

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

What is man’s purpose on earth? It’s very simple; to love God with all our heart, soul and mind. This is His greatest commandment to us all; our purpose for living.

Matthew 22:37-38 (NKJV) 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-13-25

Proverbs 1:5-6 (LSB) 5 Let the wise man hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire guidance, 6 To understand a proverb and an enigma, The words of the wise and their riddles.

Wisdom does not come naturally. It is learned.

Some wisdom comes by way of life’s experiences; we try things. Sometimes we fail, and sometimes we succeed.

Our failures should be a learning experience. They show us what works and what does not work.

But many times, we can learn by drawing on the wisdom of others who are willing to share with us what they have learned. We acquire guidance.

This can often be the better way to learn many things because we are spared the heartache of failure on a repetitive basis.

But we must be willing to admit our ignorance and our shortcomings if we are to learn from others. Our pride must be laid aside and humility must be exercised.

This applies both to natural wisdom and wisdom gleaned from the word of God.

Some kinds of understanding do not come naturally or easily to us. They must be explained and expounded upon by others who are more knowledgeable.

If we are lacking wisdom, we must not be afraid to ask for it.

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

The most important thing is that we do obtain wisdom. For without it, we are destined to live a life of repeated failures, mistakes, and a broken heart as we fall into the same pit repeatedly.

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-11-25

Matthew 5:14 (NKJV) 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

As we follow God, He will set us up to shine.

When He does, it is not for us to receive praise and glory, but to bring glory to Him.

Our life will have a negative or positive effect on those we interact with. What will it be?

As God’s children we are all called to shine.

Do you think for one second the enemy is going to leave us alone? Think again.

The enemy will come after any shining object that he sees.

But, thank God He has given us a powerful tactic; a tool to win such battles against our enemy.

It’s called, submit and resist. That’s right! This is our “tool” against the enemy when he tries to get us. Submit to God, and resist the devil.

James 4:7 (NKJV)  7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

If we use the proper tool, we will get the right results. He will flee. That’s a promise!

So, what are we going to do to keep shining on that hill?

We are going to trust God by submitting to Him, and resisting the enemy when he comes to knock us off.

For what purpose will we shine? That our life may bring glory to God.

We are called to stand tall on that hill and shine bright! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-25

Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Learning and growing in knowledge of the word of God is foundational to our maturity as a believer.

There is NO substitute for this.

There are no shortcuts.

We must make the conscious choice to learn His word.

There are untold numbers of verses and examples found in His word, written by multiple authors, who reinforce this truth.

David, Paul, and Solomon are just a few.

Even Jesus confirmed this when He stated that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).

David stated this:

Psalm 119:9 (LSB) 9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.

David got it. He understood that knowing God’s word is where everything else starts.

We each start with (have been given) a measure (seed) of faith, as stated in Romans 12:3.

All seeds require nourishment to grow. Without it, they quickly spring up and then wither and die.

God’s word is that nourishment. It feeds our spirit. It strengthens the building blocks that are the foundation of our faith, making it impenetrable by the enemy and his tactics.

When God’s word is hidden (treasured) in our heart, we have an ever present, always-vigilant defense mechanism always at the ready.

It is up to us to use that defense mechanism.

It is up to us to feed it.

And it is up to us to be sure it gets strengthened regularly, that it does not fail or falter due to impotence and malnutrition.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-9-25

Luke 2:30-31 (NKJV) 30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation 31 Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples…

We may think the Lord’s salvation is just for certain people. Those who carry themselves a certain way, those who seem like everything they do is perfect, those who are so good, happy, smiling, and full of joy all the time.

The Lord’s salvation is for all people; all colors, all races, all cultures.

His word says He did not come for the righteous or those that think they are better then everyone, but for the sick, those who need help, need healing, need strength, need deliverance, and need His love.

Mark 2:17 (NKJV) 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

He is calling on all of us today. He is calling on our loved ones today, He is calling on all those who are sick and in need of healing.

Not just physical healing, but healing from the storms and trials of this life, healing from abuse, healing from the lies that the devil whispers in our ears at times, healing from the torment of what we’ve done to ourselves, the choices we’ve made that have caused us to be where we are today.

We need His salvation and He has made it so we can all have it.

Call on His name today. Put your faith and trust in Him and you shall be saved.

Jeremiah 17:14 (NKJV) 14 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-8-25

Psalm 119:114 (NKJV) 114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.

As Israel’s king, David had many adversaries.

He was well-known for his strength and might as a warrior, and as a man of God.

God’s favor in his life was a fact that caused his enemies to hate him. They also feared him for that same reason.

But their fear was not enough to keep them from pursuing him or conspiring against him.

And David knew it.

So, what did he do?

He trusted God.

He prayed. And he expressed his fears and his dismay for the people who relentlessly tried to kill him.

It was such a situation that caused him to speak the words above, admitting that God was his hiding place; a safe place from the onslaught of violence and threats from those same enemies.

Now, if David, who constantly feared for his life, could trust God with his situation, what do we have to fear?

What is it that is causing us to fear? What is causing us to be in anguish? What is causing us to lose hope or to doubt God?

The threat of death is something we would usually consider the greatest threat we could ever face.

But David faced those same threats and trusted God with his life. If what we face is anything less than the threat of death, why would we not trust the very same God with it?

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-7-25

Matthew 5:27-28 (NKJV) 27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

With God, we don’t always have to play something out physically, He watches the heart.

We may be able to fool people, because they can’t see our heart. They can only discern by our actions, our words and thoughts.

We can be deceptive with people and put on a good front. We can hide our feelings inside pretty well.

We may not be committing sin on the outside, but what is going on inside of us?

God will judge our heart.

What is it today that we are hiding?

Do we need to come clean?

If we were to bare our heart on a table right now, what would we see?

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-6-25

Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

This verse is popular among followers of Christ, as it gives encouragement to those who hear it and may be struggling with stress, anxiety, etc.

But there is much more to this verse than what appears on the surface. So, as we often do, let us dig in and see what it means in its fullness and in its proper context.

To do that, we must go back and see exactly what is being referred to here.

Technically, this discourse begins in verse 1 of chapter 3, as Paul exhorted the believers to leave behind the carnal ways of their previous lives and live as new creations in Christ.

But Paul homed in on the principles of the verse above in verse 12, where he taught the Colossian believers to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering when dealing with each other, forgiving each other as Christ forgave them.

And then he drove his point home, telling them to “put on love, which is the bond of perfection”, which enables them to practice such attributes as kindness, patience, meekness, etc.

It was then that he encouraged them to let the peace of God rule in their hearts, after preparing their hearts in advance for what he was about to say.

And then, he taught them what is required to do so; letting “the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom” that they may teach and admonish each other in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in their hearts to the Lord.

You see, the word of God is the foundation upon which everything about our walk with Him is built upon.

It is the word of God and the Holy Spirit by which we live, grow, and mature as believers.

We must feed our spirits with the food of His word. It is our sustenance. Without it, we wither and die.

Let us feed daily on His word, growing in understanding and truth, that we may please Him and reflect His glory in all we do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-4-25

Hebrews 10:19-20 (NKJV) 19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,

Being confident to enter God’s presence is founded on the blood of Jesus. Oh, praise be to God for sending His Son!

We can come boldly to the throne.

We can come knowing that He will hear us.

We can come knowing that He loves us, He forgives us, and He will help us.

Through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, there is a new way that we are consecrated. This new consecration comes through the sacrifice of His precious and pure blood on that cross.

He died for us so that we can come to God, to have a loving relationship with the great and omnipotent Father.

Are we ready to draw near to Him? Are we ready to have a wonderful, fulfilling relationship with Him?

Come to Him boldly, knowing you are his son or daughter, and that He is there for you! Amen.

2 Corinthians 6:18 (NKJV) 18 “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.”
