Bible Verse of The Day – 7-22-25

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV) 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Some weeks can really try to throw us for a loop; the week during which this was written was one of them.

What made this week stand out?

I received a report back from a pathology lab. My biopsy tested positive for malignant Melanoma.

After getting this phone call, I took a deep breath.

It’s a funny thing because I had been praying to be stronger and to not be so fearful. And here I am sitting, listening to a woman explaining over the phone my next step. Surgery!

I had to face one of my biggest fears. I don’t do well with wounds, blood and stitches.

And guess what else. For this particular surgery, they only use local anesthesia; they kept me awake through the entire procedure.

This caused my fear to be amplified!

A couple of times during the surgery I felt like I was starting to panic, but would cry out immediately to God to calm me down.

Fear is a funny thing. It comes unannounced. It comes and hits us right in that place that controls everything; our mind. It hits our thoughts immensely.

But remember who should have dominion over our thoughts!

We must surrender our thoughts to Him. This scripture commands it.

We shouldn’t let those thoughts run us. We truly have the reins in our hands in this. Or we’d better!

But when we are so overwhelmed and under attack with fear, it can be very hard.

What I have learned is we can cry out to God. When we are so beside ourselves in fear and can’t even pull our thoughts together, He will be there.

He will calm us right down. His peace will come and help us pull it together and get past it without fainting.

He gives us the strength not to faint or give up!

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

We all face many tribulations. But God is there to help us be strong and keep our thoughts together if we surrender them to Him.

Fear is real. But God is bigger than whatever we fear today!

He’s got us.

Thank you all for your prayers. I appreciate you very much and I am doing great!

God bless you for continued love and prayers!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-25

Romans 8:31 (NKJV) 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

As children of God, people who have put their faith in Jesus Christ, it is critically important for us to understand what that means for us.

It is all too common for many of us to live lives of defeat and hopelessness when God desires that this not be the case.

No, this is not a hype-filled motivational message designed to get you excited and tell you about how wonderful your life will be because you follow Jesus.

It is, though, a message that will give you hope and understanding about who we are in Christ, and what God wants for us.

We must remember that in all that we know and understand about life in Christ, we never forget this one thing; God’s love for us was so great that He did not spare His own Son.

Jesus Christ went willingly to the cross to pay the price for our sins; mine and yours.

This one fact should give us enough hope and encouragement to cause us to never live dejected, defeated lives.

Sometimes we simply fail to comprehend the depth of this truth. We let the cares of the world overwhelm us and cause us to forget Who we belong to; Who we call Father.

So, if you do nothing else today, remember this one thing; you are loved beyond what your human mind can comprehend.

And that love was enough to cause God to make a way for us to walk in a redemption that defies all human logic and understanding.

This is truth that no one can ever take away from you.

Let us live like we believe it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-27-24

Psalm 56:3-4 (LSB) 3 When I am afraid, I will trust in You. 4 In God, whose word I praise, In God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?

Times of fear come for us all.

Events that cause fear are part of life.

Regardless of our heritage, our ethnicity, our spiritual understanding, our financial status, or our position in our career, we will face situations that cause us to be afraid.

What we do with that fear is entirely up to us. We choose whether it will rule over us, or we rule over it.

God created us with emotions. It is how we are wired. Our emotions are part of what makes us who we are. And we all handle them in our own unique way.

But it is important that we not allow our emotions to rule over us; to determine the direction our life takes.

Fear can be a big problem for some of us. It can cause us to make choices that we regret later in our lives if we fail to let the Holy Spirit help us navigate those situations that cause us to be fearful.

David faced many of these situations. He spent many years of his life looking over his shoulder, with his life at risk of being taken.

But because of his faith, he trusted God to protect him and calm his fears.

This is a perfect example for us to learn from and to follow.

What did David say about fear and the enemies who were determined to snuff him out?

He said, “I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?”

As it is with us. What can mere man do to us?

Our eternal destiny lies in the hands of God alone. What we face here during our earthly lifetimes will not change our eternal life.

We are here for but a moment. Our few years on earth pale in comparison to eternal life.

Let us not allow fear to rule over us. But let us trust in Him, the God who created us and breathed life into us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-9-24

Psalm 34:4 (NKJV) 4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.

I once was so fearful in my life. I trembled at being alone.

I was so afraid that one time, as I was down in my basement doing laundry, I heard something and I froze.

I was running water at the time. And because I froze and became distracted by what I heard, the water overflowed onto the floor, snapping me out of my frozen position.

Being afraid is not good. The enemy will use it to “freeze” us, symbolically speaking. He will keep us as believers in one place if he can.

I prayed to God and asked Him to help me overcome my fear of being alone. I waited and sought Him for deliverance from such a thing.

During an evening service in church sometime later, the Pastor gave an altar call. I happened to be sitting in the front row that night.

When he encouraged anyone who needs prayer to come forward, I knew I needed prayer, and I so wanted to take the few steps to get up there.

But I was frozen. Again I could not move.

My legs would not move. And as the Pastor began to pray for others, I remained there, wanting so badly to take those steps forward.

When he had finished praying for all those up front, he was led to come over and pray for me. Only God knew.

And that night I was delivered. Fear left me. Thank you, Jesus Christ!

Did I have to remind myself whenever fear would try to attack me again? Yes. And I did!

I will no longer be afraid of being alone. God has delivered me!

Psalm 145:18 (NKJV) 18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

He is always near. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-14-19

Psalm 56:3 (NKJV) 3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.

Fear can be a terrible thing. It can cause us to do things we might think we would never do. It can make us run and hide at times, cowering from the thing we are in fear of.

On the other hand, fear can be a good thing in certain situations. Fear can keep us from doing things that are harmful to us or to others. We can learn from that kind of fear. It can protect us.

As a whole, though, God doesn’t want fear to play a major role in our lives. Why? Because fear can really mess us up if we’re not careful.

Fear can stop us from doing things that God wants us to do. It can push us back from the steps that we need to take at times. And it can cause us to question our faith, or maybe even doubt God.

Look at what fear did to Elijah when he became afraid of Jezebel.

1 Kings 19:3 (NKJV) 3 And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.

Elijah’s life had been threatened by Jezebel, so it’s understandable that he would run. But in doing so, he quickly forgot what God had just done through him a short time earlier, when he slayed a large number of prophets of Baal.

So, if fear can cause Elijah to run after such an amazing feat, it’s no wonder that it can also cause us to turn and run.

The important thing to remember about fear is that we can’t conquer it on our own. With God, though, we can overcome it and do whatever it is that God wants us to do.

We need to trust Him at all times, even when things might look bleak and we are fearful, not just when everything is going smoothly.

It’s during those times of fear that our trust in God can grow and be strengthened, if we will stand with Him and follow His leading. It’s not always easy, as Elijah found out. But when we do stand firm, it can be very, very rewarding.

And, as we stand firm, trusting in God, our relationship with Him will grow stronger as we watch Him move on our behalf.

Whenever we are afraid, trust in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-22-18

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

It’s important to be alert to what is going on around us. The thief that comes to steal from us is always on the prowl. But no matter what he tries to do, we can get through it as we let God show us the way to win.

Sometimes we feel discouraged and we wonder if there is even a point in trying anymore. It feels like one thing after the other. We just get through something and then we are hit again with something else.

But here’s the thing; There is a point.

1 John 4:4 (NKJV) 4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

We are of God, and will come through it.

We have His greatness in us, working through us, to make sure of this. His hand can reach us and His plan for us stands, no matter what comes our way, as long as we hold onto Him tightly.

Don’t let the thief steal our joy, kill our hope, or destroy our faith. Stand on the promise of our Father. Take hold of His hand today, and walk.

Numbers 11:23 (NKJV) 23 And the Lord said to Moses, “Has the Lord’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-25-18

Romans 8:15 (NKJV) 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

Fear is something that many people wrestle with on various levels.

There are many different types of fear. And people can be fearful for many different reasons.

In the end, it really doesn’t matter what it is that we’re afraid of. What really matters is that we face our fears and let God help us conquer them.

We can’t usually beat them on our own. We need God’s help. And He helps us in so many different ways.

Sometimes He simply shows us that our fears are unfounded and are based solely on something we have imagined in our minds.

Other times, He shows us why we’re fearful. And then He teaches us why we don’t need to be afraid.

Still, other times, he will put us face to face with whatever it is that we’re afraid of. And then He will walk us through the difficult process of not only staring that fear in the face, but pushing it back and defeating it once and for all.

Just as each of us is different and unique, so God will also help each of us face and defeat our fears in a way that He knows will truly help us win whatever battle we are fighting with fear.

Why does He do this? Because He has adopted us as His own children. And as our heavenly Father, He wants us to live our lives confident in Him, not running from everything that we come up against.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-4-17

John 16:33 (NKJV) 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

These are very powerful words.

Jesus spoke of the fact that in the world, we will have tribulation. But, He told us to be of good cheer. He also promised that in Him, we would have peace.

How? How can we have peace in the midst of tribulation? How can we be of good cheer while being tossed about by a storm?

By way of the fact that He has overcome the world. That’s how!

The world, as Jesus spoke of it, doesn’t just refer to the people of the world… the unbelievers or those who do evil. But He referred more to the world as a whole. The ways of the world, the evil in the world, the storms of life and the things we face each and every day.

These things can and will wear us down if we let them. They will suck the life out of us if we try to face them on our own, by our own power, strength and understanding.

Instead, Jesus reassured us that He has already overcome the world. And because of this, if our faith and trust are in Him, then we can also overcome the world, and all of the things in it.

He didn’t promise that it would be easy. He didn’t promise that it would happen instantly. He didn’t promise that we would be able to understand it all. He simply promised that, because He overcame the world, we could have peace and joy because of His victory. And because He overcame the world, we can also be overcomers in Christ.

So, as we feel the weight of the cares of this world on our shoulders, we need to pull our strength from Him, and stand up. And as we stand up, we need to speak to our storm and say “Peace, be still”!

Mark 4:39 (NKJV) 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-21-17

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Fear is a terrible thing. It can wreak havoc with our lives if it is left unchecked and allowed to dominate.

Fear clashes with our faith and attempts to derail it, rendering us motionless and unable to function.

Fear paralyzes us. Fear is the opposite of faith.

Faith gives us freedom to pursue God’s call on our lives and complete the tasks He sets before us to complete.

Faith overcomes fear. Faith empowers us.

True faith will push us closer to God. Fear will push us away.

So how do we overcome fear and grow our faith?

First, we have to recognize fear. And then we have to kick it out of our lives, by the authority of the name of Jesus Christ!

If you struggle with fear, here’s how you can give fear the boot and send it packing. Rebuke it in the name of Jesus. It’s not complicated. It doesn’t require you to have anyone else pray for you or lay hands on you. Just say something like this, out loud:

Fear, I rebuke you and command you to go, in the name of Jesus! Release me. I forbid you from operating against me again.

It really is that simple. If we are believers, we have authority in Jesus’ name. Spirits of fear (and other evil spirits) have no choice but to leave when we command them to do so in the name of Jesus.

So give fear the boot and let Jesus make you free from fear for the rest of your life.

Your life will be forever changed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-24-17

Isaiah 41:13 (NKJV) 13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

Do you struggle with being afraid?

Some people fear the unknown. Others fear what people think of them. Some may fear being a failure. Others might be fearful of being alone. And there are so many other things that people fear.

Fear is not of God. Fear is a tool of the enemy to try to cripple us and render us spiritually handicapped. In many cases, fear can also cause us to be emotionally handicapped, afraid to do anything at all.

We are here to tell you today that fear does not have to control you or have dominion over you! Fear has only as much power in your life as you give it.

We know that saying this is easy, but overcoming and destroying the fear in your life can be very daunting, especially if you try to conquer it on your own.

But, you want to know something? You don’t need to face it alone. Not even for one second. First, God placed people around you to help you. And even better, He wants to help you defeat fear in your life with His help!

If we are in Christ, then we have the Spirit of God dwelling in us. And He can never be overcome. Therefore, if He is in us, then we have nothing to fear!

1 John 4:4 (NKJV) 4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

And because you have Christ in you, you are more than a conqueror. You are an overcomer; an overcomer of fear. A bold, courageous warrior who can defeat the spirit of fear that is trying to overtake you.

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Rise up, in the name of Jesus! Shake off the fear. Leave it right there and never look back!

We proclaim that you are courageous, by the blood of Christ who died and was raised again to defeat the enemy once and for all.

Go forward!
