Bible Verse of The Day – 3-18-15

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

So many people wonder how to find God’s purpose for their life.

Many others are in the midst of trials and hard times.

Some of us are looking for ways to increase our finances and get out of debt.

Still others are trying to find meaning and purpose in our lives.

We are all unique. It’s how God created us. And we all have different things that we’re trying to figure out in our lives.

Despite the fact that we’re all unique and our lives are all different from each other, sometimes in vast ways, we all have one thing in common. And no matter how hard someone might try, they can never, ever change that one thing.

That thing is the fact that, in everything we do, we can never truly accomplish anything unless we seek God first!

When we seek His kingdom first, it helps to put everything else into its proper place and perspective.

Let’s just say it helps us get our priorities straight.

And as it should be, since God is the creator and owner of everything we see šŸ™‚

So if your life is upside down, seek God first. Make HimĀ your priority and the other things will eventually fall into place.

BIble Verse of The Day – 3-17-15

Psalm 28:7 (NKJV) 7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

Some of us need change really badly. Everything has been the same for so long itā€™s wearing on us and causing our joy to be sucked out of us. We have become unhappy and feeling empty, not wanting to be around anyone or anything, afraid they may see this side of us.

There is nothing that makes us happy. All we do is put on a fake smile and get through each day. All the beauty that is around us is lost in the neverending feeling of wanting something to happen, wanting some change to come into our situation.

We are not going to say go ahead and give in to to those feelings. But instead we say right now is the time we have to push ourselves even more to find the good in things every day, despite how we feel and what we see going on.

This is the time to persevere, the time to go above and beyond how we feel and what we think. Time to push harder than we have ever pushed before. Itā€™s not over and we donā€™t give up.

Praise God in the storm. With every ounce of strength in us, open our mouths and praise Him. HOLD on tight; He is our strength and our shield. Amen.

Change will come!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-16-15

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.ā€

If we want to feel fulfilled and do something meaningful, then we need to let God show us how to give and to whom to give. It is the best feeling ever and brings such fulfillment when we are one with God!

One day, long before we were pastors, God laid on our hearts to go visit aĀ man and woman we know, and give to them a specific amount of money. So we drove over to their home and knocked on their door. They had us come in and sit down and we explained how God had sent us there and wanted us to give something to them. We handed them the envelope and planned on leaving.

But instead, we stayed and visited a bit. After we had been there a while, the man got up and left the room. When he came back, he had a large basin filled with warm water, and he had some towels. He asked us to take off our shoes, and he began to wash our feet.

As he washed our feet he began to tell us things that God was going to do in our lives. We cried like babies as he ministered to us. We had no idea it was going to turn out like that.

As we did what God asked us to do and gave that sum of money, He had a special surprise waiting there for us.

Some of us are waiting on God for Him to move on our behalf, but He is waiting on us to do what He has already told us to do.

Give.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-15

James 1:2-4 (NKJV) 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

None of us likes to wait. Especially when it comes to waiting for God to move on our behalf.

And this is because when we’re waiting on God, we’re usually in the midst of a trial of some kind.

When everything is going well, we just cruise along, calm, cool and collected, with a smile on our face and our best traits out there for everyone to see.

But pressure situations have a tendency to show us what we’re really made of. When we’re squeezed, whatever’s inside will eventually come out. And sometimes that stuff isn’t pretty.

It’s then that we also get to see ourselves; the trueĀ us that we try so hard not to show anyone because it might tarnish our squeaky-clean reputation.

But as much as we hate trials and tough times, those are the times when God can shape us and mold us if we let Him. Having our backs against the wall forces us to do two things. First, we recognize how weak we are without Him. Secondly, it causes us to choose between trusting our own intellect or trusting God.

Let’s just say it’s where the rubber meets the road.

And it’s thereĀ in those very tough spots that God gets to show us His power and might, as He works in our lives, opening doors that man can never close and closing doors that man can never open.

So if we’reĀ in a tough spot right now, it’s time to make a choice. Will weĀ trust ourselvesĀ and hope that weĀ can figure out a way out of the mess we’reĀ in based on our own understanding? Or will weĀ finally surrender and let God take the lead, and follow the steps He has for us?

Only we can choose.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-13-15

Numbers 13:27 (NKJV) 27 Then they told him, and said: ā€œWe went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

Moses sent some men to spy out the land that God had given to them.

They brought back some incredible fruit from that land. But they also saw something negative in the land, as well. They let the negative dictate whether or not they could go and possess the land, which God had given to them.

Numbers 13:28 (NKJV) 28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.

Their report showed that they were afraid and intimidated. They let what they saw cause fear in their hearts.

One of the men, named Caleb, saw it with eyes of faith. He was ready and willing to do whatever it took to possess the land.

Numbers 13:30 (NKJV) 30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, ā€œLet us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.ā€

It doesn’t matter how big or bad things may look. Just as Caleb was willing to face it and take possession of what was given to them, so must we be willing to do this when God gives something to us. When it’s too big for us, we have to take faith steps.

Let us go and possess what God has already given to us today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-12-15

Ephesians 5:25 (NKJV) 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her…

I love my wife.

As a man of God, I’ve learned a lot over the years as to what it means to be a godly husband.

God comes first in everything. And to the world, that might seem a bit twisted, since in the natural way of thinking, they might wonder why my wife doesn’t come first.

But here’s the deal. As we love God more, and we put God first, He will teach us how to love our spouse even more. So the end result of loving God and putting Him first is that we ultimately end up loving our spouse more!

And I will be the first to admit that I still make mistakes. Heck, if I didn’t, it would probably mean that I was already dead and living in a glorified body! Just kidding šŸ™‚

But I can honestly say that God has taught me to love her more as each day goes by.

So, with that said, I’d like to share with everyone that today, March 12, 2015, we are celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary!

Please help me in celebrating by replying to this messageĀ and wishing Pastor Ellie a happy anniversary and letting her know how much she is loved! I want to make the day really special for her šŸ™‚

And she has no idea that I’m doing this, so she will be surprised!

God bless each and every one of you and may He bless your marriage and draw you closer to Himself, in turn, drawing you closer to each other.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-11-15

Luke 15:18-20 (NKJV) 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, ā€œFather, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.ā€ā€™Ā 20 ā€œAnd he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

This son had left his father on pretty bad terms. He had demanded to have his inheritance early, and then he left with it, abandoning his father and his family.

Only after he had wasted it all on the party life, and found himself homeless and feeding pigs to earn a small income did he come to his senses and decide to return home.

Ih his mind, he wasn’t even worthy to be called his father’s son any longer. He had determined that he would return home, even it if meant working as a hired hand on his father’s land.

You see, life had taught him some hard lessons that can never be learned in books, or even by word of mouth. Sometimes we just have to learn by walking through something. Some might call it “trial by fire”.

Many years ago Pastor Ellie was speaking with an elderly pastor friend of ours. She asked him “How can we just sit back and watch as our children make poor choices and get themselves into trouble?”.

And he answered her very wisely, with the voice of experience, saying “sometimes you just have to let them go through the fire”.

And so it was with this particular son. He had gone through the fire and learned some things the hard way. Now as he headed home, he fully expected to be shunned, and possibly not even welcomed home.

But as his father saw him in the distance, he ran to meet him, ecstatic that his lost son had returned home.

And so it is in our own lives. We make mistakes. Sometimes they are majorĀ mistakes. And sometimes we pay a dear price for those mistakes. And when we’ve walked through the fire, hopefully we’ve learned from it.

And we may feel like there is no way that God can still love us afterward. We feel dirty, stupid and unworthy of being loved.

But if we have a genuinely repentant heart, God welcomes us home with open arms, rejoicing that we’ve come back to Him.

We just have to humble ourselves and go to Him. He will never throw our mistakes in our face.

Is God speaking to you today? Don’t ignore His voice. And donā€™t be afraid to go to Him. He’s waiting for you with his arms wide open.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-10-15

Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV) 15 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

People can really make us angry sometimes.

They can say things, do things or act a certain way and just get us riled right up. And most times, the easiest thing to do is to lash out at them and give them a piece of our mind.

Sometimes it may even seem that we’d be justified in doing that.

But words spoken in anger have never done any good, anywhere, in any situation.

There willĀ be times when words need to be spoken with authority or with boldness, but not with anger.

The tone we use when we speak can seriously alter the direction that a conversation takes and, ultimately, the outcome of a discussion or disagreement.

Sometimes a person will simply have their mind made up about something, and nothing we do or say can change them, because of the state their heart is in. But if they are sincere and open to listening and reasoning, words spoken with love and kindness can bring change where nothing else can.

Speak words of kindness, out of love, and watch how things change over time.

We dare you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-9-15

Romans 5:8 (NKJV) 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

We were in NC when we got a request to visit a dying man, in CT. They had taken him off the defibrillator and it was just a matter of time before he would be gone.

As we prayed to God in NC, we asked Him that if we don’t make it back in time, that someone else would share the gospel with this man; that he would not die unsaved. God heard our prayer.

We left NC to drive home to RI, and on our way home we hit a very bad storm; extreme ice and snow. People’s cars were off the road all around us, many in the ditch, some even upside down. We had many hours to travel under these conditions to reach our destination. The further we drove, the worse the storm got.

A trip that should have taken us 12 hours, took us18 1/2 hours. We were determined to return to RI, though, and not quit. We needed to get home.

And we did. We made it home, safe and sound. Thank God!

When we went to the hospital to visit the man, we shared God’s love with him. We let him know we are all sinners and yet God loves us all and provided a way for us to be forgiven. When he heard these words you could almost feel him relax. He listened to what we had to say and when it came time to pray he was ready.

After we got done praying, his reaction was, “that felt nice”.

With nurses and different staff members in and out of his room, he asked if we could talk more, as he would call it, “about religion.” We spent a bit more time with him and then headed home.

The very next day, this man took his last breath and is in now in Heaven! Amen

God made a way for this man to hear the truth, almost until his very last breath. He will make a way for us all.

He loves us no matter how bad we are at times. He wants us to know this.

God doesn’t love the sin that we participate in, but He sure does love the Sinner, and will love us to the end and give us every opportunity to reach out to HIm.

He sent His Son for each one of us; this is the Good NEWS!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-7-15

Genesis 37:5 (NKJV) 5 Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.

What seemed to be a good dream for Joseph brought enmity and hatred between him and his brothers. Why? Because of jealousy.

Not everyone is going to be happy for us when good things come our way. There will be times when we can share things and times when we just need to keep it close to our hearts, between us and God.

Be careful of sharing things with jealous people and don’t let jealousy or hatred have a place in our own hearts.

Be sensitive toward God’s Spirit and let Him guide us in this area. It can save us from a lot of headaches.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-6-15

Genesis 6:13-14 (NKJV) 13 And God said to Noah, ā€œThe end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.

Make yourself an ark.

What a colossal assignment!

God told Noah that He was going to flood the earth and that Noah was to build an ark to save a few humans and a large group of animals. The destiny of these few people and all of those animals was in Noah’s hands.

God gave Noah very specific instructions about how the ark should be constructed, with regard to size, materials, etc. The only problem is that Noah had never seen anything like that before in his life. Yet this was his assignment.

As Noah obeyed God and set about this enormous task, he had to move ahead based solely on what he had been told. He had no working models to copy, no predecessors to ask for help and no experience as a shipbuilder.

But, being faithful and diligent, he moved ahead, one day at a time, until the ark was finished.

Noah is a great example for us all. Too many times we are given a task or a job to do, and we want it to be completed and come to fruition very quickly.

We need to let God stretch our faith and teach us how to trust Him, no matter what things look like on the surface, in the natural.

As we do this, He will strengthen us and give us rest when we’re weary, supplying us with exactly what we need to complete the job.

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) 31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

So if we are waiting on God, have been given a task or a job that seems impossible, or just plain don’t understand exactly what’s happening in our lives, trust HimĀ and wait on Him. He will come through.
