Bible Verse of The Day – 11-8-16

Numbers 11:5-6 (NKJV) 5 We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; 6 but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!”

God delivered the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and led them into freedom.

They watched as God parted the Red Sea and they walked across, with the ocean being held up on either side of them. And then they witnessed the entire Egyptian army being swallowed up by that very same ocean, as God released the waters and allowed them to fill in that very area where they had just crossed safely.

And as they woke each morning, they saw the ground covered with manna, bread from heaven that had fallen while they slept.

God provided for them in every way conceivable. He fed them. He kept them clothed. And he protected them from the sun and the darkness.

And yet, despite everything that they saw God do, they complained. They grew impatient and demanded that God send them meat, for they were tired of manna.

Wow! God was feeding them every day by His hand. A true miracle. Yet they grew tired of it and became ungrateful.

How about us? Have we become tired of anything that God has done for us? Have we become complacent or unappreciative? Are we complaining about what He has done for us or blessed us with?

Maybe it’s time for us to check ourselves and take inventory of all that God has done. And maybe in doing so we will be reminded of things that we had actually forgotten about or have begun to take for granted.

We might not have everything that we’d like to have. There may still be things that we want. But we should never reach a point of being ungrateful for what we already have. And if we have, let’s repent and ask God to touch our hearts and ask God to forgive us and give us a renewed sense of thankfulness and gratefulness.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-7-16

Galatians 1:9-10 (NKJV) 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

The gospel of Jesus is not always popular. In fact, it can be controversial and even seen as combative by some.

Why? Because it speaks truth without compromise. There is no middle ground. There is truth or there is a lie. Jesus Himself said that everything He did and said was from His Father in heaven.

When Jesus spoke, people either loved Him or hated Him. Those who loved Him embraced what He said, even if it might have hurt their feelings, because they knew that what He said was good for them.

Those who hated Him did so because His words addressed the sin and hypocrisy in their lives. But instead of embracing those words and letting God speak to them and change their hearts, they chose to “shoot the messenger”, so to speak.

So it is important that we know that what we hear from others is the word of God and not some watered down, sugar coated or otherwise perverted version of the gospel. It’s critical that we test what we’re told and use God’s word as the standard by which everything else is measured and judged for authenticity.

And remember that some things might sound really good. They might even sound a lot like God’s word without actually being God’s word. And many times what we hear can be exciting or even exhilarating, and it might make us feel so good! But that doesn’t make it the truth.

So let’s be careful about what we listen to, watch or read. And test the spirits behind those things.

1 John 4:1 (NKJV) 4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-5-16

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Being transformed is going to take time. Having our minds renewed is going to be a constant learning, listening and doing process. This holds true for everyone.

We will all fall at times, make mistakes and trip up. Some may do this more often than others. It really doesn’t matter who does what, when or how many times. What matters and is very important is that we don’t stay down, we don’t stay in the mess, and we don’t just brush it off and continue to do it. We get out of it and get back up by repenting and changing our ways.

God’s word is what helps us to get back up. God’s word is what will keep us focused and on track. It is the one book that we should give a lot of attention to.

It is a journey, and for those that continue to press in and draw close to God, He will draw near to them and they will be purified.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Don’t just say with our words that we are God’s children, but let us show by the transforming and renewing of our minds.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-4-16

Colossians 3:23-24 (NKJV) 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

Have you ever felt like you work hard with no appreciation in return? Do you feel like you give it 100%, and yet you get nothing in return?

Many of us can testify to situations that we’re in, or have been in, where we feel mistreated or under-appreciated. Let’s be honest. Sometimes we just feel downright used and abused, don’t we?

Well, first off, let’s remember what the Word says above. We need to continue to do everything just as we were/are doing it for God Himself.

No, that doesn’t make being mistreated feel any better. But it will cause God to be glorified in everything we do. And in the end, that’s what is most important for all of us. So it’s important that we don’t get tired out and give up before we get our breakthrough.

Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Some of us may have been in this kind of a situation for a very long time. We might even feel like it will never change. In fact, we may have given up on ever seeing it turn around.

But do you remember Joseph? He spent many years in prison and as a servant before God elevated him to be Potiphar’s top adviser and overseer of Egypt! If he had given up, his entire destiny could have been forever changed or even lost.

And even while he was in prison, Joseph excelled and had favor with the guards and the overseers there.

Why? Because he refused to sit around and feel bad about his situation, despite the fact that his own brothers had sold him into slavery due to their jealousy. And in the end, Joseph was exalted and made a leader that everyone looked up to.

So if you’re in a situation anything like this or you feel mistreated, don’t give up hope. Keep your eyes on God and trust Him to bring you through it with victory.

And in the meantime, keep doing all things as unto God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-3-16

Matthew 7:15 (NKJV) 15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

Knowing the inward motive of some people is very hard at times. That’s why we need the Holy Spirit to help guide and direct us.

It’s hard sometimes to discern people and the motive behind their actions, especially if we are a person that loves, if we a person that is sincere in what we do and we are a trusting person. We don’t look at people in that way, because our hearts have been changed.

For us to know the inward motives of people we will have to listen for the Helper, the Holy Spirit. He will give us discernment.

On the surface, the ravenous wolf looks good, sounds good and has exciting and wonderful things to offer. He/she is smooth and slick. They come dressed in normal clothing, they don’t stand out in a way where we can see them or spot them. They blend in very well.

It is through discernment that they will be exposed.

Not to fear them, but to be aware of them and what they represent. Take note and listen. God is faithful to show us.

It takes wisdom and listening, not letting our emotions get caught in a trap in what we see and like.

John 15:26 (NKJV) 26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.

Our Helper speaks truth. He will keep us on track with the things of God. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-2-16

John 6:31 (NKJV) 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

God gave them bread from heaven. He made provision for them! He is a very personal, affectionate and intimate Father.

Can we look back at times and say, “yes, He has answered my prayer. When I was in need, He sent me my answer.”?

Our bread from heaven may have differed from what the Israelites needed because every situation is different. However, it still came.

Getting our answer from God is better than getting our answer from man. Most people have an agenda or motive and we may always feel like we owe them something in return. But when God does something for us and our answer comes from heaven, He is not looking for us to pay Him back. He is just asking for us to obey.

We have seen God answer many prayers in our lifetime and we look forward to seeing even more. It never gets old.

He is not going to ignore us, so we can’t get anxious and try to do it ourselves. He is going to put together the best answer and provision for us. In the meantime, rejoice and KNOW that He is working on our behalf. Walk in His peace today.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Bible verse of The Day – 11-1-16

Matthew 28:2 (NKJV) 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.

The earth shook, an angel of God descended and the stone was rolled away.

What an incredible way for God to bring light and victory into what looked like a dark, dismal situation of defeat!

When Jesus rose and emerged from the grave, every demon in hell took notice. Even Satan himself couldn’t ignore this. He thought he had won when Jesus breathed His last breath. But in the end, he was the one who was defeated.

And just as Jesus rose from the grave, bringing victory over death, that victory is there for each and every one of us, too. If our faith and trust are in Jesus, we will also have victory over death.

But we can also have victory in our lives right here on earth! We don’t have to live defeated lives, burdened down with sin, shame or the cares of this world. We don’t have to spend every waking minute stressed by the situations we’re facing.

“How?”, you may ask. How can we have victory when there is so much happening. How can we have victory when it feels like the whole world is falling down around us? How can we have victory when it looks like evil is abounding?

By giving it to God and letting Him take care of it. Let Him handle it. Let Him bear the burdens that are trying so hard to weigh us down.

1 Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

No, this won’t make our problems disappear instantly. And it won’t necessarily hand us instant solutions to the troubles we’re facing. But it will bring us peace, if we let it.

The key is that we have to let it. We have to make a choice to take our worries, fears and even our doubts and give them to Him. Is this easy to do? Not always. Sometimes it’s downright difficult, because it means we have to let go and relinquish control to Someone we can’t even see.

But even if we don’t let go, we still never have control over it anyway. We just think we do! Because if we did have control, the situation wouldn’t be bothering us so much to begin with.

So we encourage you today to surrender to Him and give Him your concerns and troubles. Lay them down and surrender them once and for all.

They are not yours to carry.
