Bible Verse of The Day – 12-10-16

Acts 16:16 (NKJV) 16 Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling.

What is divination?

Webster dictionary – It is the art or practice that seeks to foresee or foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge usually by the interpretation of omens or by the aid of supernatural powers.

Paul calls it what it is. This slave girl was possessed!

Fortune telling or listening to those who tell fortunes, and operate under such a spirit, is not just a little thing. It can affect our lives hugely.

Letting someone speak, who operates under such a possessed spirit, opens the door for the enemy. And unless we close it, by doing what Paul did and casting it out, it remains and has a home, and it will keep bugging and annoying us.

Acts 16:17-18 (NKJV) 17 This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” 18 And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour.

If someone has opened up to this spirit in any way, at any time in their life, they need to close the door that has been given to it. It’s very simple. God’s word says to resist the devil and he will flee.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

This type of spirit is very deceiving, because it can say things that may seem true and accurate. For instance, what she said about Paul in verse 17.

But if we let the Holy Spirit show us, just as He showed Paul, through being annoyed with her and what she was doing, we will see what’s really operating. Paul knew it was not right.

Anything that is NOT of God and tries to come off like it is, is perverted, twisted and deceiving. And we all know that these traits come from the devil.

This spirit likes to deceive and it doesn’t matter who we are. It will show it’s bold and ugly face, even in church meetings, bible studies and other gatherings where we would least expect it. It followed Paul for many days until he did something about it.

Don’t let it have a place or a voice around us, no matter how many things it may try to say that seem right.

Let the Holy Spirit help us to discern the difference.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-9-16

John 9:6-7 (NKJV) 6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.

He spit into His hands and made mud. Not what most people would expect to happen if they ask to be healed.

God hasn’t changed. He still does these types of things today. Oh, He might not be standing in front of us, making mud from dirt and saliva. But when we ask Him to do something, He still wants us to follow through and do the things He asks us to do!

Asking God for something doesn’t mean that we ask Him and then simply sit back and do nothing, waiting for Him to take care of everything for us. He will almost always require us to take some kind of step or steps to show our faith.

Jesus sent the man in the verses above to go and wash in the pool. When he obeyed, his sight was restored. Naaman was told by Elisha to dip himself in the Jordan River 7 times. When he obeyed, he was healed of leprosy.

Sometimes the things that God tells us to do won’t make a bit of sense to our minds. That’s because He wants us to listen and act by the Spirit, not by our intellectual understanding.

And once we start to understand this, and we start to obey God when He speaks to us, we will start to see more things happen in our lives that defy logic.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-8-16

2 Corinthians 9:6 (NKJV) 6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

This verse is a little gem. It says so much with so few words.

We just want to say thank you so very much for the seeds that you have sown into this ministry. It is helping us to be able to reach out to others, sharing the gospel all over this world.

My Bible Verse of The Day is not only hitting the USA hard but also many other countries. Tonga, New Guinea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Uganda, Russia, Ukraine, Poland and China are just a few of those places.

It is reaching throughout the Seven Seas and beyond. It is doing exactly what God has called it to do, reaching the lost, hurt, sick, abused and unloved. And bringing them a fresh, Spirit-filled and alive WORD that meets them right where they are at each day.

Thank you. Your seed is doing much work and producing good fruit.

We are trusting God that you will reap from the seeds you are sowing. We are praying and believing that you are being blessed in ways you have never expected. That your situation is being changed. That your health is getting better. That your marriage is being healed, your children are being restored to God, and your relationship with Christ is growing stronger.

God bless you. We love you all!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-7-16

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Christmas is just around the corner. Everyone is busy shopping, planning parties and family gatherings. It sure is a great celebration.

In all the excitement and extra work that goes into planning for these events, it’s very easy to lose track or forget about the importance of why we are doing what we do.

It’s a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ; the very One who came to this earth to serve.

This can be a great opportunity for us to shine His light as we make sure those people He puts on our hearts are taken care of during this season.

Maybe they are going to be alone at Christmas, or they are financially struggling and going through a tough time.

Maybe there is someone we know who works so hard, but hardly ever gets noticed, so we take the time and do something kind for them.

What a way to celebrate Jesus and what He did for us, by taking time and caring for the one we know who needs a little something this Christmas.

We might think “what difference will it make to do this for just one person? It’s so little when there are so many in need. Why bother?”.

But if we all focused on just one, and there are thousands of us, that would be many “just ONES”! Amen.

Let God speak to our hearts this Christmas season and show us that “one”.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-6-16

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Just a short time ago we sent out a teaching that talked about the renewing of our minds. It’s something we need to be reminded of every so often.

But as I pondered on some things this past week, God showed me more about this that we need to share with everyone.

If we were to really look at and be able to comprehend how God transforms our minds, we would be truly amazed. None of us had the mind that God wanted us to have when we first found Him. It’s safe to say that many of us were probably very far from where God wanted us to be.

But by His power, He took us as we were, embracing even the things that might make us reprehensible to others, and He transformed us one day at a time. And it’s safe to say that if we let Him do this, we are no longer the same person we once were.

So just how does He manage to do this? How does He take a corrupt mind and transform it into a mind that He can use, a mind and heart that loves Him?

Here’s what He showed me. He works through the power of the Holy Spirit, softening our heart. This makes us pliable, so He can work His incredible wonders in our lives.

And when His Spirit has prepared us, He then uses His word to teach us truth. We feed on His word. And because He prepared us ahead of time, we embrace His incredible truth and it changes us forever.

No, this doesn’t happen overnight. In fact, it takes considerable time. And the timetable is different for each one of us. But the length of time isn’t the important part. The important part is that it actually transforms us. We are changed by the power of His Spirit and the truth of His word. Transformed forever.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-5-16

Mark 1:8 (NKJV) 8 I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

When my eyes pop open early in the morning I know it’s a fresh start, a new day! A chance to take what I learned yesterday and either add to it, or try to get it right, if for some reason I failed.

It’s  another day to see the good things of the Lord and watch Him move in our lives. It’s another day to show Him how much we love Him. Another day to be happy and content with what He is doing in our lives and the lives of those around us.

Life is a beautiful thing! It’s all in how we take it in.

We have the chance to look at things that are happening positively or negatively. It’s truly up to us. Some things can be devastating as we learn of them and it can be impossible for us to handle. Some of life’s challenges that we face are just simply too much for us.

It is God’s Spirit who is our Helper in this life; the Holy Spirit. He will lead us, speak to us and speak through us and give us the knowhow to handle things each day.

Mark 13:11 (NKJV) 11 But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit gives to us what we need that hour, that moment and in the very time we need it. Let the Holy Spirit be free in us today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-3-16

Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV) 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

We need to protect our joy; The JOY that God Himself gives to each one of us. The JOY of the LORD!

We’ve got to keep it and not let go of it. The enemy knows how powerful it is to walk in the joy of the Lord and he will fight to take it from us. He understands what joy does to people that walk in it, that talk in it, that carry it wherever they go. He knows it demolishes and ruins what he tries to do to our emotions.

We need to understand that he is after it and will take it the first chance he gets.

The JOY of the Lord is our very strength. So if we lose our STRENGTH, what does that make us? Weak and tired!

What happens when we are weak and tired? We simply mess up. We say and do things that we know we shouldn’t. We let things go that we should be taking care of. We slack off. Why? Because we get caught up in sorrow and depression. Sometimes we might even have ourselves a good old pity party.

But it doesn’t have to stay that way!

If we’ve lost the joy of the Lord today, we need to make a move. We need to go find it and bring it back into our lives. We need to get it back into our home, into our workplace, and into our church.

Dear God in Heaven,

Forgive me today for losing the joy which you have blessed me with. I am truly sorry. I want your joy back in my life, in my family, and in my relationship with you. I have been walking around with my head hanging down, giving NO place in my heart for joy.

People may say it’s because of what I’ve been through in life, but I know that it is no excuse for how I have been acting. It’s gone on for too long, and today I want to change and stop this feeling of sadness and doom and gloom, and thinking that I’ve gotten the short end of the stick.

I ask you to take my sorrow, depression and heaviness away from me this very day. And in return, fill that empty spot with Your joy, in the mighty, precious name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.

Thank YOU Lord, and I know that I will walk in your strength, for today is a NEW day. Amen.

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-2-16

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Is there someone that God has laid upon our hearts today to reach out to and give to? Maybe it’s just praying for them. Maybe it’s calling them up and checking on them. Maybe it’s buying them groceries, or sending them a card. There are all kinds of ways of giving.

One day our doorbell rang. We went to answer it and there was someone we knew standing there with a freshly baked, hot pizza. They said to us “we thought you might like this today”.

Oh boy, did we ever! We thanked them and brought it into the house. We sat down and gave God thanks. What a blessing it was. It was delicious!

When God gives us manna, TAKE it! When God gives us an opportunity to bless someone TAKE ii!

That person listened to God and blessed us. They will truly receive in the same measure that they blessed us with.

Are we being givers today? This is one of the questions we don’t like to ask ourselves sometimes because we may not like the answer. But we need to check ourselves.

We can get so caught up in busyness or taking care of ourselves that we miss out on an opportunity to be a blessing to someone.

Today, as we begin our day, we need to tell ourselves that we are going to be a giver. We are going to keep our eyes, ears and heart open to God and let Him lead us in this. Amen.
