Bible Verse of The Day – 1-20-18

Deuteronomy 28:2 (NKJV) 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God…

God wants to bless us. He wants to pour out many different blessings on our lives.

We all want to be blessed. There is not a single person who can honestly say that they do not want to be blessed by God.

The question, though, is this; are we willing to do what God requires us to do so that He can bless us?

Some may think of this as legalistic, or counting on our works as a means of gaining blessings. In reality, though, it is simply following the truth of God’s word.

We are taught throughout His word that we reap what we sow. And so it is with God. We sow, we reap. We obey. We are blessed.

Is that legalistic? Not at all. It’s basic Biblical principals at work. God tells us what to do, why we should do it, and what will happen when we do it.

Then, we do it. And God keeps His promise. Plain and simple.

God speaks only truth. It’s up to us to do what He says. And when we do it, we see results. It’s not us manipulating God or twisting His word.

It’s simply the body of Christ doing what God says we should do. Nothing more, nothing less.

So, do we want to be blessed? Do we want to walk in the abundance of God in every aspect of our lives? Do we want to see God move in every way that He wants to move?

It’s up to us. We choose. We decide how much, or how little, God can move on our behalf and bless us.

We do not follow God simply to receive blessings. But as we do follow God, and we obey the voice of the Lord, He will be faithful to bless us, as He has promised in His word.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-19-18

Psalm 57:2 (NKJV) 2 I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me.

Have we ever felt depressed to the point where we don’t want to make a move one way or the other?

We find ourselves sighing, over and over again. We are so down that nothing seems fun anymore. Nothing makes us happy or joyful. We have no desire to do anything.

We just want to be alone. And if we could, we would just sleep it all away, hoping that when we wake up, the pain, sorrow, sadness, and torment will all be gone and we will feel better.

Today we want you to know that no matter how down things seem or how low you feel right now, you’re going to make it. God has a way of wiping that dark cloud away when we cry out to Him. When we finally lay all those things down that are troubling or concerning us, when we let them go, He will turn things around and make it better over time.

Don’t lay there wondering any longer. Get up, and know that today is going to be different! Put one foot in front of the other and move forward a little at a time. Things will get better as we take that first step.

Psalm 40:2 (NKJV) 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-18-18

John 13:5 (NKJV) 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

Foot washing is something that we don’t see much of or hear much about these days. It seems to have been all but forgotten. But, despite being forgotten, it’s still relevant today.

Jesus took the time to wash the feet of His disciples after eating dinner with them for the last time. He did this to demonstrate servanthood.

Having your feet washed is a very humbling experience. It’s not something that you will soon forget if someone does it for you. There’s something about having someone wash your feet that can’t even be accurately put into words.

And washing the feet of someone else will cause us to lay ourselves aside and do something kind and soothing for someone else.

Why is foot washing so uncommon today? Why is it that the vast majority of us have never experienced this?

Could it be that the body of Christ has largely lost the servant’s heart that God wants us to have? Have we become more focused on ourselves than on others?

Jesus taught clearly that even He was sent to serve, not to be served!

Mark 10:45 (NKJV) 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

It would benefit all of us to ask God to give us a servant’s heart and show us how to be humble and reach out to others, to help them and to serve them when they are in need.

Sometimes serving others helps us more than it helps them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-17-18

John 13:34 (NKJV) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

Part of living is loving, enjoying and learning from those people God puts around us. We have to be careful not to push them away or ignore those that God brings around us.

Sometimes we may think, “well, some of them are different than we are”. Maybe they are a little quirky, or they have no sense of humor. Maybe they are too serious, or seem like they are always angry, etc.

We are always going to find something we don’t care for about someone, but we need to remember that we have our own issues as well. And just as we have to exercise patience with them, we can be quite sure that they are doing the same regarding us.

We need to have fun with the people that we are connected with. Talk good talk about them. If we see that they are doing something wrong, try to help them. If they don’t receive it, don’t run away from them.

Lift them up in prayer. Exercise that prayer muscle. Keep building it. Our tolerance will grow and we will be able to be used by God in more situations.

There will be times when we feel like we are losing our patience with them. If it gets to this point, it may be time for a break. Pull back. Give the relationship some quiet time. Maybe we are spending too much time together.

There is such a thing as familiarity, and sometimes this can destroy wonderful relationships and the work that God may be trying to do.

Pray for God’s balance in our relationships with the people He puts around us, that the time we spend together will be fruitful.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-16-18

Luke 1:37 (NKJV) 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”

When we finally realize that the “WITH” in this scripture is KEY, we will put the brakes on when it comes to trying to do things by ourselves.

We will find a rest within ourselves and stop trying to do it all. And no, it doesn’t make us weak to do this. Instead, it makes us stronger than ever. And the things we do will have a great turn out!

We need God in all that we do. And what we do, we need to do with Him, not FOR Him.

Sometimes we may hear statements like, “Oh, I did this for God today”, or things like “We are doing all this for God”.

When we think we are doing things for God, we need to watch out. It can cause problems if we’re not careful.

Pride can set in, and it can make us think that we are better than others. Honestly, it can cause people to want to run the other way. They don’t even want to be around us because they see and hear it in us.

When we do things for Him on our own, it is being done in and through the natural man, and with natural intellect. The natural man cannot handle spiritual things on his own. Without the leading and help of the Holy Spirit he will make a mess of things in a hurry.

If we want to see God move in any situation, do what He asks, but do it with Him. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-15-18

Psalm 71:5 (NKJV) 5 For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth.

Our relationship with God gives us hope.

We serve a Creator who wants only the very best for us.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Sometimes we may not feel like there is any hope, especially when things just seem to go wrong again and again.

But, rest assured that this is just life and the things that happen to all of us from time to time.

As we have mentioned many times in the past, seasons come and go. And each season offers unique opportunities as well as unique challenges. It’s not the fact that challenges come that determines who we are. It’s how we handle them that matters.

It’s always easy to lay down and have ourselves a little pity party. But that will never help us or change anything for the better. It will do quite the opposite.

So, we say to you today, rise up! Shake off the sorrow and the discouragement. Look your challenges square in the face and claim the victory that Jesus has won for us on the cross.

Rebuke the devil, in the name of Jesus, and push forward.

Romans 15:13 (NKJV) 13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – When God Puts Us To The Test – 1-14-18

Greetings!

How many of us enjoy preparing for and taking tests? It’s safe to say that not many of us enjoy it much.

But life is actually a never-ending series of tests that we have to pass if we wish to advance. And God is the test administrator!

We just published a brand new video on this topic. It’s eye-opening, to say the least.

Please click here to watch the video now.

When we face a trial in our lives, God can use it to test us. Whether we pass the test or not is completely up to us.

But whether we advance in our lives is also dependent on whether we pass the test!

Please take a few minutes to watch the video and see what God has to say about the tests we face in our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-13-18

Matthew 12:43-45 (NKJV) 43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

This is an often-overlooked truth that costs a lot of people a large amount of unnecessary misery.

Getting free from evil spirits is something that we all need to have a better understanding of. Otherwise, we remain weak and feeble when it comes to getting free, and helping others get free.

What Jesus was speaking about in the verses above is critical to helping people stay free once they have received their deliverance.

When a person breaks free from any kind of spiritual bondage, the unclean spirit will leave and wander about, looking for a new place to dwell.

At some point, they will almost always return to where they were evicted from, to see if maybe they can enter in again. So, it’s important that we don’t fall for its attempts to come back in. Because if we do, it will also bring others with it. And the results will be worse than before.

From my own personal experience, I can verify that this is 100% true. When I was delivered from asthma, I was also set free from the constant use of an inhaler. That little inhaler had become my “pet”. I took it everywhere with me. I was in bondage to it.

In the days following my deliverance, I began to experience symptoms of an asthma attack again. I never actually had an attack. But the symptoms that would normally lead up to an attack began to show themselves.

My first instinct was to reach for my inhaler. But, instead, I got counsel from my pastors at that time. They recommended that I not use it. So, I followed their counsel (somewhat hesitantly, I have to admit). And I’m so glad I did!

After a few days of ignoring those nagging symptoms, and resisting the urge to use my inhaler, the symptoms completely disappeared forever.

It was only afterward that I understood what was going on. The spirit of infirmity that had been calling me its home was attempting to regain entry. Had I grabbed my inhaler and used it, I would have been admitting that my healing and deliverance was no longer valid.

And, by doing so, I would have opened the door wide for it to come back again. It would have been like rolling out the welcome mat for it.

But, because I resisted, the door stayed shut and it had to look elsewhere to find a new home. 17+ years later I am still 100% free of asthma and I plan on staying that way, by God’s power!

If you’ve been delivered from an addiction, or some other kind of spiritual bondage, be sure to let God help you to be strong, even in those initial days after being set free. Do whatever is necessary to resist the urge to return to old habits.

Those first few days afterward are critical and will set the course for the rest of our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-12-18

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Having a drive for something is OK, as long as it is what God wants for us. If it’s not what God wants for us it can be very dangerous. It can make a mess of things quickly and we will lose our peace.

For example, maybe we want a specific position, or maybe a material item.

Watch out for the phrase, “oh, wouldn’t that be nice”. That can be the beginning of an unnecessary drive, a waste of valuable time, for something that’s not meant for us.

We may catch ourselves starting to go down that road and digging deeper, trying to find out more about it. The next thing we know we are spending all our time and effort trying to make it happen, trying to possess it and make it ours.

Whenever we want or think we need something so badly, it will begin to drive us. It’s crucial that our drive be aimed toward the things that God wants for us. Nothing else.

One way to check ourselves at any point in time is to pull back and say, “hold on, wait a minute, I need to make sure this is right for me”.

If we can’t do that, and we just keep plowing our way through, trying everything we can to make it happen, then we are most likely being driven by our motives, our wants and our desires. God is not a part of it. It’s all us.

To keep this from happening, we have to keep an eye on our hearts during the process. How? By keeping ourselves accountable.

Make sure we are taking time with God, and we don’t just push Him off and ignore His promptings, His warnings, and His red flags. Be aware and alert throughout the whole process, making sure His peace is present and prevalent.

He has no problem helping us to know if we are getting ready to make a BIG mistake. We just have to pay attention to the signs, use wisdom and take action to stay on the right track.

If we are being driven today by something that is not going to be right for us, we need to stop, no matter how far in we are. Then we need to pull back and take some time to get God’s direction. He is faithful to help us see clearly and bring understanding, as long as we’re willing to listen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-11-18

Hebrews 5:12 (NKJV) 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

Growth. It’s something that comes naturally to our human bodies. It happens without us doing anything to help it. And even if we don’t try, we still grow.

As we grow in the natural, there are things we can do to complement our natural growth, such as eating right and getting exercise. It won’t necessarily make us grow faster. But it will help us to grow stronger.

Spiritual growth, however, is a bit different. It takes effort if we are to grow beyond the most basic levels. It requires us to want to grow.

The thing that we need to remember is that everyone grows at different rates. Some may grow quickly, while others may take much longer. We may also see “growth spurts” as some people go through seasons in their lives where they put forth more effort than in other seasons.

The important thing, though, is that we do grow. It is never good to sit static, making no effort to grow.

Just as a child in the natural is expected to grow, a follower of Christ is also expected to grow. Growth should be a natural tendency when someone puts their faith and trust in Jesus.

Not growing, or growing slowly isn’t necessarily something to be ashamed of, but if we recognize that we are not growing, it would do us much good to try to take steps to remedy that.

We encourage you to grow. Do whatever is necessary to make it happen. Feed your spirit with the word of God. Strengthen yourself by regularly communing with God during times of devotion and prayer.

We don’t need to be religious about it. God doesn’t want our religious habits. He wants our hearts!

He just wants us to be real, be sincere and be genuine in our pursuit of Him.

Grow. Build your spiritual muscles. And become a member of God’s victorious army of soldiers of the kingdom.
