Bible Verse of The Day – 3-9-18

Ecclesiastes 10:10 (NKJV) 10 If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success.

Are we looking to be successful? Do we want to get ahead in this life? Do we want to know how to handle ourselves in every situation that comes our way?

God’s wisdom will help us develop our character, and help to carry us through both, good times and hard times.

How do we obtain such character? How do we obtain such integrity and walk in this kind of wisdom? We learn God’s heart. And we do this through reading His word. We do this through walking out that word. We do this through praying for answers and waiting patiently until we receive them from Him.

We need to be sharp in this day and age. We need to be full of wisdom to take the right steps and succeed in all areas of our lives.

Dig into God’s word and succeed, overcoming the challenges we face. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-8-18

Matthew 6:19-21 (NKJV) 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Where do our treasures lie? Are they in the material things that we possess? Or are they in the things of God, the things He shows us and the things that draw us closer to Him?

As we endeavor to draw nearer to Him and strengthen our relationship with Him, the things that are in our heart will either help us or hinder us in our walk with Him.

The things of this world can develop a very strong grip on our hearts if we’re not careful to guard it.

Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) 23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Everything that we set our minds and hands to do takes up our time and requires our effort to accomplish. Many times, we don’t see or understand how many “little extras” are required when we get involved in something or buy a new possession.

We might take on a task and only see the surface of it, the time or effort that we think is involved. But, once we’re into it, it actually requires much more time and energy to pursue and master. And each minute or hour we give up to this is less time that we have in our relationship with God.

It’s important that we count the cost and not make sudden or rash decisions and choices.

Luke 14:28 (NKJV) 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it

We obviously need some “down time” once in a while. God isn’t against us spending time doing things we enjoy. But He also wants us to make our choices carefully, letting His spirit lead us as we make those choices and decisions.

And if we can learn to do that on a regular basis, we’ll find ourselves getting into less things that cause us to become too busy and preoccupied with activities that can suck up our time and energy, leaving God in last place.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-7-18

Psalm 39:1 (NKJV) 39 I said, “I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me.”

This is surely something that we all need to be reminded of from time to time.

The tongue; It’s one of the smallest parts of the body, but yet very powerful and it can be very damaging.

We have to really try hard to keep it muzzled or quiet at times. I find that in situations where I want to defend myself, it is in those moments that I hear God say, “hold it. Don’t say a word”.

But, the thing to remember in those moments is that, most times, saying nothing may actually be saying a lot.

It truly takes discipline to pull back and restrain ourselves.

We think it would be better to just speak up and bring correction. But God knows better. And there are going to be times when we just need to muzzle it.

Let God’s spirit guide us. His ways are perfect.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-6-18

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 3 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…

Have you ever been through a season in your life where everything seems like it’s just about perfect, and you hope it will never end?

It’s pretty safe to say that most of us have those seasons from time to time.

They’re not all that common. And most times they tend not to last too long. But when they do come, we hate to see them go. Sometimes we love those seasons so much that we try to hang onto them long after they have ended.

Doing this can cause us to miss out on what God has in store for us in the next season He has put before us.

Because we like being comfortable and familiar with things, it can sometimes be hard for us to move forward, preferring instead to stay where we know and understand what’s happening, even if it’s not always the best thing for us.

The Israelites did this when Moses led them out of Egypt. God miraculously brought them into a new season of hope and wonder. But because it was unfamiliar to them, and some aspects of it were a bit uncomfortable, they actually wanted to return to the slavery of Egypt!

Let’s be careful that we don’t do this too. It’s OK to enjoy a season, but we also need to make sure we let God lead us freely into the next season He has for us, even if it means embracing change.

God will be faithful to lead us through that next season, if we let Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-5-18

Luke 5:11 (NKJV) 11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.

This took place right after Jesus had just filled their boats with fish. They had tried all night but had caught nothing. Then Jesus told Simon to let down his net for a catch.

As Simon listened and obeyed, Jesus not only filled one boat, but Simon had to call over his partners with their boat too.

They filled two boats full of fish so that they began to sink. WOW! I’d say for those fishermen, that’s a good day.

After seeing what Jesus did, they were ready to follow Him, giving up everything. Why? Because Jesus had personally touched their hearts and opened their eyes.

You see, fishing was their livelihood. It’s what put food on their table. It was how they earned their living. It was their stability.

But, that was not what changed them. They knew there was more about Him that they wanted than the material stuff. That was awesome to experience, I’m sure. But it didn’t hold them back. They left it all behind to follow Him.

Are we still looking for stuff from Jesus, or have we reached that point where He is more than that to us? He is about more than filling our boats, our bank accounts, buying us a home, getting us success and fame, putting us in a fancy car, a jet, large boat or a big church with fancy seating.

There is so much more to Jesus than the blessings of riches. He is everything! The disciples knew it and made the right choice to forsake it all and follow Him.

Through Him is our way to eternal life in Heaven.

His blood covered our sins, and through Him we have been made righteous.

Romans 5:19 (NKJV) 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

Are we ready to forsake it all and move forward with Him?

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-3-18

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

He doesn’t change. Isn’t that nice to know?

We go through different things all the time. Our situations change.

We have good seasons, great seasons, and just OK seasons. And sometimes we have not-so-good seasons. But, there is Someone who never changes!

That means we can count on Jesus Christ, knowing that no matter what changes in our life, we can run to the ONE who is our stability.

We can’t trust that our career, our bank account, or our family will keep us stable. It might seem so right now, but situations can change in a heartbeat. And, most times we really have no control over it.

The great news is that stability comes in our lives when we wholeheartedly, 100 percent, put all our trust in Christ for everything. Amen.

Are you sad or disappointed today because things didn’t go the way you thought they should? Well, it’s not over yet. Put your trust in Christ and let Him take you to where you need to be.

He is all we need to help us live life and live it more abundantly!!

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-2-18

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Yesterday is behind us. We can’t go back.

What we have already done is also behind us. We may have made some major blunders in the days behind us. Some of them may have cost us dearly. Some of them may have brought shame upon us, and maybe even upon our families.

But those things don’t have to define us.

Why? Because God’s mercies are new every morning.

Those transgressions that are behind us can be forgiven by our Father, if we just ask Him to do so. And when He forgives us, He removes them far from us.

How far? As far as the east is from the west. That’s a long way!

Psalm 103:12 (NKJV) 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Once God has forgiven us, we are free to move forward. And at that point, it’s up to us to make sure we don’t make the same mistakes again and again.

Even in that, God is faithful to lead us and guide us, showing us where to place our feet with each step we take.

It’s our job to follow where He leads us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-1-18

Psalm 91:1-2 (NKJV) 91 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

Many times, we go through way more stress and struggle than is necessary.

Life will always throw stuff at us that can be hard to bear, hard to go through. But we can get through it without getting so beat up all the time. It’s all in how we choose to face it that determines whether we come through it unscathed or not.

God has given each of us a secret place. A place where we go for refuge. No, this isn’t the same as the “safe places” that we hear so much about today, where people hide from their problems, instead of facing them and fixing them.

This is a secret place. It’s a place where God calls us so we can spend time with Him and commune with Him, one on one. And in this secret place, as we draw near to God, He encourages us, equips us and teaches us.

He teaches us to trust in Him, no matter what we face. So that, instead of running away from our problems and the things we come up against that are less than pleasant, we learn to face them with Him by our side, guiding us through each and every step by His spirit.

He is our refuge, our fortress, where we go to rest and replenish our spirits, so we can face our battles refreshed and renewed, ready for victory!
