Bible Verse of The Day – 5-20-18 – When We Make Mistakes

When We Make MistakesHello!

Today’s video is something we’re really excited about, and here’s why.

Not a single person reading this has lived a life free of mistakes. And that’s something that can really mess us up if we’re not careful.

But here’s the thing. God has a history of taking people who have made some really, really poor choices and using them for really, really good things!

Today’s video talks about this in a fun, powerful way that is sure to change the way you look at yourself.

Please click here to watch the video now.

In the video we share about people in the Bible who all made very bad mistakes in their lives, but God still went on to use them in very powerful ways.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We can’t let our poor choices define us. And we surely can’t let them stop us from being used by God.

So we hope you’ll take a few minutes and watch the video, and hear what God is saying to you about your past, and your future.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Be blessed mightily in Him!

Sincerely in Christ,

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-19-18

James 1:2-3 (NKJV) 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

One of the things that many of us do when we’re going through trials is to ask God to remove the trial. We all do this from time to time.

And while it is understandable that we would ask for this, it’s important that we understand what we’re asking for.

Nobody likes trials. They hurt. They wear us out. They leave scars.

But during those times of trial there are so many things we can learn! And during those trying times, God can teach us so many things if we will just allow Him to.

God can use the bad things that happen and bring good out of them. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that He removes the trial or turns the bad thing into something good. He just teaches us lessons as we walk through them.

So, whatever trial we might be facing right now, instead of doing what we always do and just asking God to bring the trial to a sudden end, let’s ask God what it is that we can learn from it as we walk through it.

And while we’re learning, we can watch God move on our behalf.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-18-18

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

How can we tell if what we are entering into is from God or not?

It can be hard to discern sometimes, especially if the thing we are attempting to do, or the opportunity that is before us, appears to be something that will bring about good things.

One of the things we have learned is to not assume anything when it comes to making decisions, even if something looks good. We don’t touch it unless we go to God and we both feel it is the right move to make.

There are things we have given up, turned down, because it was not what God wanted us to do. They appeared to be very good things. Some appeared to be great things, and it appeared that they would have helped us out a lot at the time. But, He had something much better in store for us.

Looking back later on, we were glad we listened and followed His leading because we could see why He had us turn them down.

In some cases, we may not know for sure at first. We may feel like we have to take a step in that direction. But if it is God, there will be a peace that comes with it that will reassure us, even when we still aren’t 100% sure. It will be there to guide us until we do know for sure.

Another way to tell if something is from God or not is by whether it interferes with our relationship with Him.

Is it taking up all of our time and all of our thoughts? Is it pulling us away from Him, instead of toward Him? Is it affecting our attitude in a bad way?

You see, God will always be watching out for our best interest. He will make sure that if He has us involved in anything or with anyone, it will somehow compliment what He is already doing in us and through us.

We should always be growing closer to Him. He will never put something in front of us that will pull us away from Him.

If something we entered into is causing us to backslide, let’s ask God for forgiveness, and for His help with getting back on track. We need to be willing to do whatever is necessary to fix it.

He will lead us if we ask for His help. It’s up to us to want to follow.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-17-18

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God wants to bless us. And it’s safe to say that we all want to be blessed.

So, why is it that so many of us lack? Why is it that we can never seem to “get ahead”? And why do our lives so often feel empty and meaningless?

Most times it’s because we have our priorities a bit mixed up.

Most of us want to have a strong relationship with God. We want to please Him and do what’s right in His eyes. But we never seem to quite get it right.

So, what’s the solution to this never-ending dilemma? How do we get our lives turned around and stop feeling like we’re being dragged through the dirt all the time, never able to break free and get cleaned up?

When we peel away all of the layers of mystery that man has created that seem to put God back behind the veil that was torn when Jesus died, it comes down to one simple thing; seeking first the kingdom of God.

We absolutely need to be putting God first in everything about our lives. There is no other way to say it and no other way to accomplish it. God comes first. Everything and everyone else comes after Him.

This is not some magic formula to riches beyond our wildest dreams. It’s not a specific sequence of steps that we follow, from A to Z, that will “open the heavens” and cause blessings to suddenly pour out.

But it’s a Biblical truth that, when we finally get it, and we put it into practice, will turn our lives around, little by little.

And, as we continue to put Him first in everything we will see more and more how God is shaping us, molding us and moving us through, and past, all the obstacles before us.

Deuteronomy 28:13 (NKJV) 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-16-18

John 4:24 (NKJV) 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Worshiping and praising God is something we need to be sure we are doing. He loves our worship!

He loves when we share His goodness with others, bringing glory and honor to Him. When we take time to look at His beauty all around us and praise Him for it.

If all we have today is a few minutes to eat our breakfast, lunch or dinner, take that few minutes to look around as we sit quietly to eat.

Notice the good things, whether it’s a picture of a loved one, or a card or note that someone left for you, to encourage you.

Maybe you have some flowers that a kind person sent you.

Or it may be none of these. Maybe we just look where we are sitting, in our home or place of work and know that wherever it is, God has brought us provision.

Maybe it’s the food we are eating that reminds us of how grateful we are that there is no lack. Maybe we see our children and they are playing or sitting quietly.

Look around and spot something that we can thank God for and give Him praise!

Worship Him today, for He is our God, our Provider. He is Everything!

We live in a world that was created by His Miraculous words and hands. Surely we can lift Him up today and worship Him for the God that He is!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-15-18

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

When we become a child of God, we are raw and broken. We may not even know how broken we are. But God does, and He also knows how to fix us, making us a new creation in Christ.

As part of the “fixing” process, God transforms the way we think; renews our minds.

This means that as we grow in Christ, we will begin to change the way we think. Our thought patterns will change. The way we see things will change.

Why? Because God is “adjusting” us in many ways. He changes our heart and the rest follows suit.

You see, as we grow in Christ we begin to see things from a different perspective. Things that we used to think were acceptable are now no longer acceptable. We see the error in our past ways and make the necessary adjustments in our thinking.

On the other hand, there will usually be things that we used to look down on or view as unacceptable that we now have a better understanding of, and we now see them as right.

The worst thing we can do as believers is to not allow God to change our heart and our mind. It is only through this transformation that God can work through us and use us for His kingdom.

So, if you suddenly find yourself questioning some of your old values and embracing new ones as you grow in your walk with God, just know that this is the work of the Holy Spirit, as He transforms you by the renewing of your mind.

Embrace God. Let Him transform you. And enjoy the ride!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-18

John 13:34-35 (NKJV) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Showing people that we care is probably one of the most effective ways that they will see Christ in us.

But, caring can be one of the hardest things to do. Why? Because sometimes our emotions truly don’t care.

Ouch! I know this one can hurt, but if we are going to grow, we are going to have to hear the truth and feel it as well.

How can we care for someone when we feel that what they are doing is wrong or “off”? This is a good question.

The only way this can happen is that when we see something wrong we decide in our hearts we are going to try to understand why it’s like that.

We are going to have to press in and let God teach us. So, in return, we will care more through learning more about it.

In other words, we need to dig a little deeper instead of just giving up on them. Getting a better understanding as to why things are the way they are will help us care more.

How do we do this? Take the first step. Go to God and ask Him to show us what we may be missing. Let Him show us how can we be more understanding and caring in this situation.

Sometimes we are missing the most important thing and all we need is a little more understanding regarding it.

Second, we take what God has shown us and we listen and make the necessary adjustments within ourselves. This gives us what we need to be able to show them that, although we may not agree with what they do, we truly do care for them.

Third, we need to remember that people are responsible for their own choices and their own actions. No matter how much we try and stop them from doing what we don’t agree with, they are responsible for their actions. Not us. We can’t let it ruin our relationship with them if they continue to pursue it.

Our responsibility as a child of God is to love one another and to show them we care.

If we want to help people and show them that we care, we need to understand them better. We need to listen to them, seek God and ask Him to help us to care more, love more and not just run away if we don’t agree with something they may be doing, or the way they may be living.

Caring is loving. And loving is putting our opinions and ourselves aside to listen and to reach out and help others at whatever stage they are at in their life.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-13-18 – Believe and Receive – What Does The Bible Say?

Believe and Receive - What Does The Bible Say?Greetings in the name of Jesus,

We hope you are enjoying your day and walking in the blessings of God.

Believe and receive. Most of us have heard this catchy little phrase used in the church. But what does it really mean?

We just published a new video that explores this topic, and we’d love to have you watch it!

Please click here to watch the video now.

The implication of this phrase is usually that all we have to do is believe God for something and it will just happen.

But what does God’s word say about this? Is what we’ve all been hearing really true?

Please click here to watch the video now.

Recording this video was a lot of fun and we feel like it’s very informative in many different ways, so we do hope you will take a few minutes out of your day and watch it.

Be blessed in Him and enjoy the rest of your day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-12-18

Psalm 147:3 (NKJV) 3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

Today my heart is pondering on the different emails and phone calls that have come in for prayer requests.

Some have lost homes. Some have lost jobs or careers. Some need financial help, and others just hurt from some type of pain; Pain from family members pushing them out, rejection. Pain from struggling with addictions, pain from loneliness due to the loss of a loved one. There is so much going on in this very hour.

None of us are alone in our struggles. Many of us are going through similar things and don’t even know it.

Can we encourage you today?

Romans 8:28 (NKJV) 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

God can take our pain and turn it around and bring good things from it.

How? By trusting God, right here, right where we are at today, with whatever pain we are in. Trust Him to get us up and walk us through it.

As we listen and obey the steps He has for us, we will come out of this hour of pain.

When God walks us through something, He will give us an understanding in that area. A God-given understanding, a God-given confidence, and a God-given knowing that He did it.

We don’t get this confidence and security by not ever going through things in life. We get it by sticking by Him and following the steps He places before us. We get it by staying the course and getting to the other side of it even when we might not always understand everything that’s happening.

Then, when we get through it, and we will get through it, God may take what He taught us and use it to help many others that are in a similar boat.

The pain we are going through today may equip us to be the help that someone else needs tomorrow.

Be encouraged. God will turn it around and bring good out of your pain!  Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-11-18

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…

I love this time of year. Here in the northern part of the USA everything starts to show its beauty again. Yes, what seemed to be so dead and lifeless is now beginning to pop out and show signs of life!

Isn’t that the way it feels and looks when we are going through some seasons in our lives? Ugly, hopeless and dead, like nothing at all is happening. Everything is still; no life or forward motion going on.

It may seem like that on the surface, just like it does with the trees, the grass, the plants and the shrubs, etc. They look like they are so far gone. Nothing is going on. But, on the inside they are really just doing their thing to get ready for the next season to come. And, oh the beauty they will bring forth.

It starts with the little tiny buds and then it just flourishes from there. It’s simply gorgeous, the changes that come!

It’s just like what God is doing in our hearts and our lives during the seasons that feel so dry, dull and dead. Just wait to see the beauty that God has in store for us!

The key is to wait for the season and be sure we don’t pop out before our time or we could damage that very beautiful thing that God is preparing for us.

Be careful how we look at things and claim them to be dead. They may be more alive than we could ever know!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-10-18

Mark 14:38 (NKJV) 38 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Watch and pray. This is what Jesus instructed His disciples to do when He was heading off to pray by Himself. He was in a time of great duress and needed to get alone to spend time with the Father.

For many years I never really paid much attention to the truth behind that phrase, “watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation”. Until today.

As Pastor Ellie and I were out walking today, we were discussing some various Biblical topics and this verse came to mind. And God showed me that the words that Jesus spoke here are instrumental for all of us if we wish to understand the key to avoiding and overcoming temptation in our own lives.

It has been taught by so many, including us, that to be tempted is not a sin. And this is still true. Giving in to temptation is sinful, not the temptation itself.

But, there is a very important principle here that many of us miss. And if we can get a good grasp on it, it has the power and potential to change our lives drastically.

It’s this; understanding the secret to avoid being tempted!

Many times we become tempted because of choices we make, things we do. We tend to put ourselves in situations where temptation comes easily, and we find ourselves constantly fighting it off. This can be very tiring after a while.

So, why don’t we just learn how to avoid the temptations altogether, right?

How do we do that? What do we do in order to keep temptation away? Watch and pray.

As we learn to watch and pray, we will become acutely more aware of everything going on around us, especially in the spiritual realm. This will cause us to be far less likely to put ourselves in situations where we become tempted.

This is something that God has been teaching me to put into practice for several years now, but today He showed me how to put it into words so it can also help others.

We hope it will help you too.

Watch and pray!
