Bible Verse of The Day – 6-8-19

Psalm 139:13 (NKJV) 13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.

Are we trying too hard to be someone we are not, and never will be? Are we working day and night to do something that we just can’t seem to get right? Maybe we just don’t have what it takes, but we feel bad if we give up.

So, instead we walk around feeling frustrated and disappointed all the time because we are not able to be who we think we need to be. Sometimes we even end up being afraid of what others may think about us.

There are going to be things in this life that others are going to do better than us. And there are things we just won’t have what it takes to do. We need to face this simple truth so we can rest and be OK with who we are.

I will never be as good as some people are at certain things. I just don’t have it in me and it’s not something I can really learn. But, I’m alright with that because there are things in me that no one else can do like I do.

Our contribution to this world as who God made us to be is huge. Don’t waste time trying to be like so and so.

We all have our uniqueness, our special talents and gifts, etc. And they are beautiful! God made us. We need to spend more time being real, enjoying the person that we are now and that we are becoming through God’s shaping of us.

Have fun and enjoy who God made us to be. We will bless so many people with our realness, completeness, and our joy in the Lord!

Psalm 100:3 (NKJV) 3 Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-7-19

Romans 12:15 (NKJV) 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

As believers, God wants us to be encouraging and supportive of those around us. It’s one of the ways that we emulate God and shine His light for everyone to see.

This holds true, whether we are surrounded by believers or by unbelievers.

It’s easy to be godly when we are surrounded by other believers. But when surrounded by unbelievers, not so much.

Do we carry God’s spirit within us? Absolutely! If so, then we shouldn’t have a major problem with being kind and supportive of anyone that God tells us to be kind and supportive of!

Now, that doesn’t mean that it will always be easy. On the contrary, it will sometimes be quite difficult. But that doesn’t excuse us from doing it.

Sometimes we just have to bear down and take the heat, so to speak, as we do what God has told us we need to do.

It might not always give us the “warm fuzzies” while we’re doing it, especially if we are being persecuted or treated poorly. But our eyes need to be kept on the goal, the prize that God’s word speaks of, not on the here and now.

As we push through and obey God’s leading, He will be our reward. He is the One we live to please.

Empathy is something that God wants us to learn and carry out in our lives as we compassionately interact with others.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-6-19

Psalm 118:5-6 (NKJV) 5  I called on the Lord in distress; The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place. 6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

When fear hits home, when problems come, when we have no idea how to fix something or change it, call on the Lord. Call on the name of Jesus!

Don’t wait one more second. The Lord will answer, and He will set us in a safe place. A place where we can discern and hear what it is that we need to do.

Follow Him and obey the answer He gives to help us, even if we might not understand it all.

He is on our side.

Psalm 121:2 (NKJV) 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Do not be afraid.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-5-19

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

I’m not a fan of Winter.

When I was a kid, I loved it. I grew up in New England, where we have a full 4 seasons; Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall. We get to see the annual recurring life, death and rebirth of the trees and plants each year.

In my childhood years, I would spend hours each week on a snowmobile, zipping along fields, and traversing mountain trails on a snowmobile with my dad, and sometimes my grandfather and uncle. I looked forward to it each year as Winter approached!

These days, though, I look forward instead to Spring and Summer, when I can spend my free time on my small boat, immersing myself in nature, catching freshwater bass.

Being on the water like this lets me take in the beauty of God’s creation. I get to see sunrises and sunsets. I get to hear the sounds of the whippoorwills, bull frogs, ospreys calling as they soar overhead, and even coyotes howling at night, after the sun has gone down.

And the stars are an incredible sight to behold. Their beauty is breathtaking on those clear nights when they light up the sky.

All of these things are a testament to God’s majesty, power and might.

But above all, I love the Spring, as we get to watch everything that appears to be dead come alive all over again!

As Winter wanes and everything is cold and bleak, the weather starts to warm ever so slightly, and the days get longer.

The sun gets stronger, and a change can be felt. Life begins to stir again in the plants. And the animals begin their annual rituals to bring new life into the world in their domain.

And as Spring peaks, everything is in full bloom. The flowers pop and their colors are incredible to see. The trees bloom and their leaves are a brilliant green where, only a few weeks ago, there was nothing but gray, lifeless empty branches.

This is God in action!

This annual rebirthing reminds me of the new life He offers us, taking us from dead and dull, to alive and thriving, overflowing with His new life.

We were dead in our sins; as dead as dead can be. But He has taken us from death to life by the power of His spirit.

Maybe you live in an area where you’ve never witnessed the miraculous process of the 4 seasons. But trust me when I tell you that it’s like watching a miracle every year, second only to the miracle of rebirth by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-4-19

Psalm 1:3 (NKJV) 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

Today I was faced with a hard decision. I felt compelled to help a relative of mine. But I have to admit at the same time that I was feeling like my help was coming more from my personal emotions than God’s prompting.

I prayed, ”Lord, what do I do?”.

As I looked out my office window, He said, “look at that tree. Do you see the blossoms on it?”. I said, “yes”. He said, “look around it also, at the bushes nearby. Do you see some have buds and some are blossoming beautifully?”. I said, “yes”. He said, “not too long ago they were not able to get all the light that they are getting now”.

He quickly reminded me of the nearby large tree that had been taken down recently. He reminded me of how it blocked the surrounding trees and shrubs from receiving what they needed to thrive, to grow, to blossom and be all that they were meant to be.

There was a lack of light, all because of that one tree standing in the way.

You know, sometimes we as people, even though we want to do good, can be like that tree, standing in the way of something God needs to do. We can block the fullness of a change, recovery, healing or deliverance that God wants to bring about.

I know it’s hard to not help when there is a need crying loudly for attention. But think about this; if our help is getting in the way of God doing something big and mighty, wouldn’t we step aside so that He can have His way?

Sometimes, as much as we want to be there to help, in some situations we may have to step aside and let God do His thing.

I’m preaching to myself today, but I hope it helps others that struggle with the same or a similar situation as mine.

God did not show me this to hurt me in any way. He showed me this because He knows me, and how when there is help needed, I will jump in.

He is teaching me how to be like this tree that prospers, that will bring forth fruit, not block or get in the way with what needs to be done.

Some things are beyond our helping hand.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-3-19

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The world seems to have much to say when it comes to heaven.

Most people believe that there is a heaven, even if they don’t believe that there is a hell. And many more people believe that there is a heaven, even if they don’t know much about Jesus.

The worst part is that most people who fall into one of the two categories above also believe that there are many ways to get to heaven. Be good. Help others. Be kind. Be generous. Live a good life. The list can go on.

But very few will ever mention Jesus. It has become politically incorrect to do so. They are afraid that it might offend someone.

But Jesus told us that His name will offend some. It’s just the nature of spiritual warfare. His name is powerful and carries a lot of weight. It brings accountability to everyone, even those who claim not to believe.

As His followers, we are the ones who are not offended by His name. Why? Because we know the power of it and we understand who He is.

Matthew 11:6 (NKJV) 6 And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

In today’s world, it’s more important than ever that we understand, embrace and proclaim that Jesus is still the only Way.

He is the only way to salvation, the only way to the Father and the only way to heaven.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-1-19

Isaiah 46:4 (NKJV) 4 Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

We all try to carry the load at one time or another. We say we are not going to rely on anyone else. We need to feel like we can do it ourselves.

Sometimes it’s good we can get certain things done ourselves and not have to rely on any help at all. But, there are some things that God does not want us to carry.

We tend to worry over and over about the same things. Things that we can’t carry. They are way too heavy for us, and if we don’t see it as being too much, we will hurt ourselves trying.

It’s like a weightlifter trying to lift way beyond their capability. They can keep on trying, but they will only hurt themselves in the process. We’ve got to know our limits. And our body has a way of telling us.

God doesn’t want us carrying a heavy load and being in a constant state of worrying. It’s not that we should pretend that nothing is wrong, or that we don’t acknowledge our current situation.

But, whatever it may be at that time, He wants us to take it to Him.

When we share our heaviness with Him, we open up and tell Him what it is that’s causing our stress. We ask for help and we wait on Him for the answer.

Then there is no need to dwell on it. Go about our day and keep walking, expecting God to carry us through. Amen.
