Bible Verse of The Day – 2-18-20

Deuteronomy 6:5 (NKJV) 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

That’s a lot of LOVE!

How many know that this doesn’t happen overnight? In fact, It doesn’t happen in a week or a month. It doesn’t even happen in a year. It takes time to learn such a love.

That’s right.

You see, when we give our life to Christ, we do it in faith. And from that day forward, we begin to take steps in developing such a love. It takes time.

So, we shouldn’t think there is something wrong with us if for some reason we are not there yet. We just need to keep moving towards it.

How?

By obeying. By listening and following. By saying, “no”, at times to things we may enjoy doing. By allowing ourselves to be corrected and chastened at times by the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 12:6 (NKJV) 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”

These are steps toward receiving the life God has for us and developing the love for Him that he desires us to have.

Once we begin walking in this love, we will never want to go back to the way we once were.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-17-20

Matthew 6:21 (NKJV) 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

God has really been changing my heart over the last several years.

How do I know this? Because the things that I used to find exciting don’t hold my attention much these days.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love the time I spend bass fishing, teaching others how to fish, and spending time on the water with Pastor Ellie. But as much as I love bass fishing (and I do really love it), even that doesn’t excite me as much as it used to when compared to the things of God.

Bass fishing aside, there are many other things that used to get me excited that don’t mean as much to me as they used to.

Case in point, we recently took some time off to get away and disconnect. It was a trip that we had planned for over a year. And it was one that we were really looking forward to.

But as we made the trip and the first couple of days went by, we both realized that, despite our anticipation in the months leading up to it, we really weren’t as enthusiastic or as excited as we thought we would be.

Make no mistake. The sights and the events were wonderful and exciting. But we weren’t excited like we thought we would be.

And, to be truthful, the thing that got us the most excited was the time that we spent talking with the other people we met and the time we spent ministering to others who were hurting and in need of God’s hope and encouragement.

As we returned home, we spent a lot of time talking about this, and we both realized that God has done a work in us that we didn’t fully recognize until after this chain of events had unfolded.

But one thing is now very clear; we are different people than we were years ago. God has turned our hearts more toward Him than they have ever been. And it is likely that He will continue to do so, provided we are willing to let Him do it.

Let me say that this is not written to boast. We are in awe at every single thing God does. And what He chooses to do in us is not a product of us. It’s an effect that takes place as He prompts us and then makes changes in us so that we can carry out His work.

He is willing to do the very same for any of us. The key is that we let Him.

The foundation of this truth is found here, in Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

So, we encourage you to seek Him, and to search for Him with all your heart. For when we do this, He is faithful and true to His word, rewarding us with a new heart and an incredible appetite for the things of God that we could never have fathomed not very long ago.

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus!

Many of us have heard the scripture that tells us to cast our cares onto God. But we don’t always understand the meaning of this.

In today’s video, Casting Your Cares, we discuss this, and what it means to us, as believers.

As with most of our videos, this was completely unscripted, and it took on some interesting directions as we talked.

There is something for everyone in this one, so we hope you will take a few minutes and watch it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-15-20

1 John 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

There are some who teach that Jesus was not part of the creation.

God says otherwise. And for man to disagree with Him is part of the antichrist spirit. This means they are against Christ. And their words are wrong and deceiving, just like the devil. They plant seeds of death and destruction due to their ignorance and lack of knowledge.

Jesus was with His Father in the beginning. He is Alpha and Omega. He is Lord, and He is the Almighty, Who is, Who was, and Who is to come!

Revelation 1:8 (NKJV) 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

He was the Word. He was there, right along with the Father, and the Holy Spirit. Together all three make up the “Godhead.” They are, and always have been One.

John 1:1-3 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Without the Word, not a thing would be made. The earth would remain empty and void. We would not be here.

When we needed a Savior, the Word came to this earth through a virgin. He lived, He breathed and He sacrificed His life for us. He was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. The only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

His name is Jesus Christ, and He became our Lord and Savior.

John 1:14 (NKJV) 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-14-20

2 Corinthians 5:18 (NLT) 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.

God brought us back to Himself through Christ. He reconciled us back to Him.

Apart from the reconciliation that He set in motion, we can do nothing to get close to Him. We can do nothing to redeem ourselves from our sins. We can do nothing to save ourselves.

But He has made it possible for us to walk with Him, side by side. And He made it possible for us to go to His throne directly, by tearing the veil that once separated us from Him.

Mark 15:38 (NKJV) 38 Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

Not only has He given us permission to go to Him personally and directly, but His word says we can now go boldly to the throne!

Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Now, this doesn’t give us permission to be brazen or irreverent, demanding what we want from Him for personal gain.

It says we can go boldly to find mercy and help in time of need. There is a huge contrast between that and making bold demands of Him for selfish reasons.

So, the reconciliation that He provided through Christ erased the divide that existed between God and man, making a way for us to have a one-on-one relationship with the Creator of heaven and earth.

No longer are we limited to knowing Him from a distance, referring to Him only as God. But He made it possible for us to call Him Father, understanding that once we embrace the sacrifice that Jesus made for us, and put our faith in Him, that we are now His child.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-13-20

Matthew 14:29-30 (NKJV) 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Are we looking at things all wrong?

When we face hard times, we can’t look at it as “poor me. I’m all done and washed up. I’m going to lose everything. I’ve failed”.

We have to change the way we see things. Why do we get scared when an opportunity comes and we need Christ to help us? Is it because we don’t like not knowing how it will all play out?

Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water. Now, think about that. Who walks on water? It’s an impossible thing to do, because as soon as you step out onto it, you sink. Gravity pulls you down Immediately.

But with Jesus, He makes what is known to be impossible, to become possible through our faith in Him.

We all have that chance to step out of the boat from time to time.

When we are faced with hard and impossible situations, it is a great opportunity to see where we stand in our faith. It’s a great opportunity for God to help us and show us how He can make the impossible be possible.

If we are facing an impossible situation, there may be a step we need to take, just like Peter. And then we need to hold our faith after we do it.

Don’t start analyzing things, or we will lose it.

Keep our eyes and ears on Christ. He will help us through it all the way if our faith is in Him and we follow.

Take this opportunity and enjoy seeing the impossible become possible! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-12-20

Psalm 56:3 (NKJV) 3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.

Over the years there is something that I have noticed happening in the lives of many believers when we face a trial.

For some reason, many people tend to run away from God when they face something hard. They get scared, and they run.

This is a reaction of our flesh. The first thing our flesh wants to do when things get tough is to run away and put distance between the trial and ourselves. Oh, if only it was that easy to fix!

But see, when we run away, we are leaving behind the One who has the solution to our dilemma.

Instead of running away, we need to be running to Him!

God holds the answer to every problem we face during our lifetime. He has understanding that we don’t have. He has solutions that man can’t give us. And He understands us better than we understand ourselves.

So, it would benefit us if we would learn to go to Him, not away from Him because He can give us what we need to fix the problems we are facing. And the answers He gives us will be better than any that we can dream up ourselves or get from anyone else.

Let’s not make the mistake of thinking that it will always be easy, or that the answers He gives us will always give us instant fixes. Sometimes it will, but sometimes it won’t. And we need to be ready to accept that.

But there is one thing that can be guaranteed. And that is that when we go to Him, and we trust Him, the outcome will be much better than anything we could have schemed up ourselves.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-11-20

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Having Godly wisdom is a necessity, but whether we have it or not is a choice we must make.

Now, James is being nice when he says, “If any of us lacks wisdom”. That’s a very kind way of putting it out there.

But let me just admit something here. I know I need God’s wisdom so much in my life. It hurts if I don’t have it. I will almost literally insert my foot in my mouth without Him.

Never mind asking. I will beg Him for His wisdom at times because I know me. And I need it on a constant basis!

What stands out to me in this scripture is, number one, we all will lack wisdom at times. Thus, it’s up to us to get Godly wisdom.

It’s crucial to remember this, because not only will we need it, but here is where number two comes in. We have to ask for it. Once we ask, He gives wisdom to us. Thank you, Lord!

Wisdom is a good thing to have.

Wisdom will keep us from digging ourselves a deeper hole at times. Wisdom will keep us from taking a wrong position or stance.

Wisdom will save us from entering into a bad relationship. Wisdom will keep us financially stable, etc.

Good, Godly Wisdom is so helpful when we are in a situation and we are backed into a corner. God knows how to get us out of it.

He is our God, our Jehovah, our El Shaddai, our Elohim, and the Creator of all things. And He is willing to grant us wisdom.

We just have to ask. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-10-20

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Our minds are under constant attack.

Many people might immediately think of blatant, violent demonic attacks when they read this. In doing so, we might imagine or picture these attacks being very obvious and easy to spot.

While this might happen sometimes, it is more often that these attacks are subtle and not as easily recognizable as we might think they would be.

The most common source of these kinds of subtle attacks is the stuff that we take in via our eyes and ears on a daily basis, through various kinds of media; music, movies, TV shows, advertisements, photos. They are visual and audible.

Now, before anyone shakes their head in disagreement, let’s look at a few things to solidify this.

The subtle nature of this onslaught of “less-than-desirable” sounds and images comes in such a way that we barely recognize it, if we even recognize it at all.

It might start with hearing a certain word or phrase in a song. Maybe the first time we heard it we flinched a little because we knew it wasn’t right. But then we heard it again and we didn’t flinch quite as badly. And by the time we’ve heard it several more times, it has no effect on us at all.

Just like that, we have become desensitized to it. And the list of things that we become desensitized to grows each day, as we expose ourselves to more and more of these kinds of things.

The same could be said for seeing specific photos.

Think about what used to be deemed as acceptable when it came to photos we would see of others. Not that many years ago, we would never dream of walking into a department store and seeing huge photos of men and women in undergarments. Nowadays, though, it is commonplace.

And the truth is that it is still not OK. But society has largely accepted it because we became desensitized to it, one little (or big) picture at a time.

If we look at TV and movies, it’s the same story all over again. Things that used to be unacceptable to watch and see are now considered completely acceptable. Or maybe we don’t see something as acceptable, but we tolerate it because we have seen it so many times.

This is dangerous to our spiritual wellbeing. Here’s why.

As I mentioned earlier, this is an attack of the enemy. It isn’t blatant. It is oh so subtle. And that’s why we don’t readily recognize it as being an attack.

Most of us have become grossly desensitized. Our senses have become duller as time has gone by.

But it’s time for us to get honest with ourselves, and with God, and take a candid look at what we see and hear each day. And then it’s time for us to let God show us where to start making changes.

As we let God show us, we will very likely be appalled at what He reveals to us about this.

But if we open our hearts to what he has to say, He will be faithful to help us make the necessary adjustments and sharpen our discernment once again.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-20

Ephesians 5:19-20 (NKJV) 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

This kind of behavior comes with letting God’s Spirit be alive and able to freely move in us.

We cannot do this on our own. Sometimes our flesh is not in the mood to sing or make melody. It is not in the mood to thank God or praise Him.

This verse comes up in us when the Holy Spirit takes precedence in our actions. And in order for this to happen, we have to give Him priority.

We have to put our emotions aside, and anything else that is trying to keep us in the wrong mood.

Our light will not shine through mood swings. But as we let our Helper, the Holy Spirit, not only live in us, but move within us, then God will be glorified!

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
