Bible Verse of The Day – 2-7-20

Philippians 2:14 (NKJV) 14 Do all things without complaining and disputing,

Complaining: grumbling, whining, lamenting, griping, moaning, railing, etc.

It’s easy sometimes to fall into complaining if we’re not careful to watch our words. This is especially true if we are ungrateful or unthankful for what we have.

For children of God, if we are chronic complainers, our complaints ultimately reflect our attitude toward what God has given us or done for us.

The Greek word used for “complaining” refers to an emotional rejection of God’s providence.

We may not direct our complaints toward God intentionally or even knowingly, but our dissatisfaction with our lives is really a direct insult toward the One who made us and Who provides for us.

Disputing: arguing, criticizing, questioning, quarreling, etc.

People who complain a lot will often also argue about many things. It’s another way for them to express their dissatisfaction with their life in general.

This happens when we lose sight of whatever is good and we focus more on what we perceive to be bad or negative.

The actual Greek word used for “disputing” in this verse refers to something more intellectual than emotional. And it indicates questionings and criticisms that are negatively directed toward God.

As we can see, constantly complaining and disputing aren’t something good, especially for believers.

Sometimes we might not even realize that we have fallen into this kind of behavior, and we need a gentle tap on the shoulder to remind us to be thankful and grateful, no matter what our situation looks like.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-20

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Being saved is a gift of God.

Don’t we all love gifts? I do! And this is one of the most beautiful, sacrificial, loving gifts I could have ever received.

I can’t even comprehend the depth of it all. But by faith I do receive the most awesome and amazing love that I could have ever had given to me.

We all have the opportunity to receive such a gift. It has been given to each one of us personally. And personally we have to receive it. Accept it and say yes to all that was done for us.

Along with receiving this gift, we must repent of our old ways. We need to surrender the way we were living and the things we were doing, and receive forgiveness for our sins.

We can’t earn this amazing gift. It is by grace that it was given to us. The only way to receive it is by faith.

Do you receive it today?

Dear God in Heaven,

I receive your gift of Salvation today. Please come into my life. I ask for Your forgiveness for the things I have done wrong. Help me to live the life You want me to live and give me the strength to follow after You.

I love you with my whole heart, today and forever. I want to be Your child and a good one at that. I want to please You. Teach me Your statutes.

In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Psalm 119:33 (NKJV) 33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, And I shall keep it to the end.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-5-20

Psalm 50:15 (NKJV) 15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

Do you have trouble?

We all do from time to time. Each of our troubles is different. But we all know the One who holds the solution to our trouble!

Notice that God didn’t say to become frantic, get stressed out and try our hardest to figure out the solution to our troubles by ourselves?

But isn’t it interesting that that’s exactly what most of us do, at least initially?

When trouble hits, we immediately go into panic mode and wonder how this thing will play out, and how bad the outcome will be.

But God doesn’t want us to react this way to troubles. Instead, He wants us to call on Him, to go to Him with these troubles. And then He wants us to give them to Him.

That’s right, just give them to Him. And then let Him show us how to fix them.

And if we do that, what does He say He will do?

He says He will deliver us!

Doesn’t that sound so much better than becoming frantic and fretting and stressing for days or weeks on end?

We think so too! And it’s something that God has taught us to do over the last several years. And wow, does it make a huge difference!

We didn’t learn this overnight. God didn’t just change us instantly and make it happen with the snap of His fingers.

It took time. And it took us learning to trust God for absolutely everything we need.

It may not have always been easy, but it was worth whatever struggles we might have gone through to learn it.

We encourage you to do the same; Cry out to Him, take your troubles to Him, and give them to Him.

And then trust Him with it all, one day, one moment at a time.

Your life will never be the same again. We promise.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-4-20

Matthew 7:15 (NKJV) 15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

I know what it’s like to be taught something that you think it is real and right, but then eventually find out that it is a lie or a counterfeit. It can make you want to just give up.

You are crushed. You hurt. And everything you knew no longer matters. You feel empty and alone. I know this feeling.

The truth of the matter is that it’s not a bad thing, in spite of how it makes us feel. Lies need to be exposed. And even though it makes us feel terrible, it’s something that has to happen if we want our walk with God to be built on a foundation of truth.

It can be very helpful to know the truth about people and situations at times. We don’t ever want to live a lie just because it feels good or because we like the atmosphere and the people associated with it.

We were attending a church many years ago. In this church, they started off really sincere in what they were doing. But somewhere along the road, they got off track and things began to change.

The leaders began to let in a mixture of various other teachers, pastors, etc. And as that mixture spoke from the pulpit, it was given a voice. It was given authority.

This is very dangerous. It filled the congregation, and the people received it to be truth. And they got messed up by it. They were “off”, and became spiritually sick. This is how some leaders can hurt people and cause those people to fall away from God.

Have you been hit with the “mixture”? A little of this and a little of that?

Most of it sounds good, feels good and even seems good. But deep down there is this nagging little feeling saying, “something’s not quite right about this”.

Don’t ignore it. That may be Truth, the Holy Spirit, touching your heart, prompting you to take a deeper look.

Jesus says, “I am the Truth” in John 14:6. Let Him guide us in all things.

Man has a way of adding his own agenda or his own “twist” to things. Make sure we compare what we are being taught to God’s word.

There are some wolves in the pulpit, doing some weird stuff. But the eyes of our heart will spot it if we listen closely and watch.

Matthew 7:20 (NKJV) 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

We are here for you if you are experiencing this behavior. Please write or call us and we will do our best to help. You are not alone.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-3-20

2 Chronicles 1:10 (NKJV) 10 Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?”

King Solomon had big shoes to fill when his father, King David, passed away.

David loved God, and the people of Israel loved their king. How could Solomon step in and do justice to the throne that he had inherited?

Solomon, in his quest to do what was right, offered a thousand burnt offerings to God. And then he waited. And God appeared to him.

God asked Solomon what he wanted.

2 Chronicles 1:7 (NKJV) 7 On that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask! What shall I give you?”

Solomon replied with the words above, in verse 10; “give me wisdom and knowledge”.

Solomon could have asked for anything. He could have asked for fame, wealth, a long life and an abundance of other things that come to mind. But he didn’t.

His desire was to rule Israel with the right heart, and judge the great nation of Israel as God would want him to.

This is something that each and every one of us should consider.

How much of our time do we spend seeking things for ourselves, or asking God for things that are self-centered?

How many times do we pray as Solomon prayed, asking God to give us wisdom and knowledge, so we can bring honor and glory to God as we walk the earth?

We may not be kings over nations. But we are representatives of Christ here on earth, bringing His light everywhere we go.

Let’s ask God to give us a heart that longs to put Him first in everything that we do, no matter what our position in life might be.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-1-20

Mark 10:16 (NKJV) 16 And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.

Jesus loves the little children; the very children that the disciples didn’t want near Him.

When Jesus saw them forbidding the children to come near Him, He was like, “oh no no, you let them come to me.”

I just love this example!

Mark 10:14 (NKJV) 14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

Children meant a lot to Jesus. He took them in His arms, He laid hands on them and blessed them.

We need to pay attention to our children. We need to talk with them, spend time with them, eat with them, play with them and show them love.

Jesus took them in His arms and He loved on them.

When is the last time we took our child, whether young or old, and held them in our arms?

Maybe we are angry at them for things they have done, or choices they have made. But they still need to know that we love them in spite of it all.

Some of us are dealing with children issues and it can rob them of the attention we need to give them. There may be a timing for it. But we need to let Jesus guide our words and our steps toward reconciling, so that it will be meaningful and leave an impression when it all takes place.

Parents, love on your children. Take them in your arms and, as Jesus did, bless them!
