Bible Verse of The Day – 9-19-25

1 Peter 5:7 (LSB) 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

In the body of Christ, we often talk about laying something at God’s feet or laying it at the foot of the cross.

While that phrase is not found in the entirety of the Bible, the concept of it is.

We are told in the verse above that we should cast our cares, or our anxieties, on God, surrendering them to Him because He cares for us.

This is a concept that we all love; take our cares and concerns, all the things that weigh us down, and give them to God.

But let’s be honest; it is easier said than done!

How often do we lay something at God’s feet and then find ourselves running back to pick it up because we don’t see anything happening, or we feel like whatever God is going to do is taking too long?

This is far more common than most of us care to admit.

It is human nature to want to control everything. And when we are facing something difficult or stressful, we often think we have the answer, so we try with everything in us to maintain control and fix it, even when we have supposedly given it to God.

We may not have a clue as to how to fix our problem, but we will hold onto it with a death grip instead of surrendering it.

This should show us who we are and how strong (or weak) our trust in God is.

Ouch!

We must learn to trust God with EVERYTHING about our lives.

If we trust Him with our souls, should we not also trust Him with our situations and our trials?

Giving them to God does not mean that difficult things will simply go away.

But it does mean that while we are waiting, obeying what He tells us to do, and allowing Him to work and move on our behalf, we can have peace that makes no sense to our human understanding.

Yes. We can have incredible peace during the most powerful, savage storms, even when we can’t see an answer or solution.

How? By trusting Him and allowing Him to move on our behalf and refusing to run and pick up that thing that we laid at His feet.

His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

Let us learn to trust Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-18-25

Matthew 13:15 (NKJV) 15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’

When our hearts grow dull, it’s hard to hear, see or understand what we should or shouldn’t be doing.

In this state, our heart desperately needs healing.

It’s important that we find someone who can speak the words we need to hear without sugar-coating them, reaching us right where we are.

When our heart grows dull, it becomes hard. This may cause us to resist truth and become less responsive to spiritual guidance.

If we are in this state, we need God’s intervention more than we know.

You see, a dull, hardened heart rarely happens overnight.

It happened over a period of time, navigating painful situations that we’ve been faced with, and never getting the proper care or healing afterwards.

When the heart doesn’t get the proper care, it develops callouses and scar tissue. And this makes it very hard for anything or anyone to get through.

That heart is hard as a stone. But take heed to what God says!

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

If our heart is in this state today, God can and will meet us where we are.

As we surrender to Him, He will guide us through a healing process.

His goal is to transform our heart so we can hear Him, and understand that if we surrender to Him, He is able to work with and through us!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-17-25

Acts 20:3 (LSB) 3 And there he spent three months, and when a plot was formed against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia.

This verse is a great example of Paul using natural wisdom and understanding to protect himself from a plot that was in place to take his life.

As believers, it is important for us to understand that God moves in more ways than just miracles.

His word frequently encourages us to get wisdom and understanding.

And though seeing God work miracles is astounding beyond words, sometimes He simply warns us of danger by natural means, such as this example of Paul being made aware of a plot to take his life.

Did he ignore the plot and push ahead, expecting God to protect him from the evil that was set to befall him?

No! He changed his plans to keep himself from encountering those who were plotting to kill him.

We see this in the life of Jesus as well.

Even while Jesus was an infant, there were many plans and schemes to take His life. But his father, Joseph, was warned to “take the child and His mother and flee to Egypt” (Matthew 2:13).

Did Joseph simply assume that because Jesus was the Messiah that God would protect Him from these attacks?

No. He paid attention to the warnings, and he moved when God told him to move.

So it is with us.

We must learn and understand that God doesn’t always use miracles to rescue us. Sometimes He uses natural means that may not seem so spectacular. But they do what God intends them to do to protect us as we pay attention and obey.

Miracles are incredible. But let us not get fixated on them to the point where we push God away when what He wants to do comes in a form other than a miracle.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-16-25

Matthew 18:12 (NKJV) 12 “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?

This verse is a fitting description for how My Bible Verse of The Day began!

We were contacted by a woman many years ago who asked if we could write and send a devotional to her each day via email.

She had been receiving recordings of our home church meetings each week by mail on a CD, but wanted something that would feed her during the week as well.

She had a situation that made it impossible for her to attend church or any kind of church events and outings.

This is how we began, with just the one request; a single person receiving our emails each day.

God blessed the work we were doing, and He multiplied it!

You see, if we have the right heart toward what we are doing, and we start with the one that we know needs help, we just never know what God may do with it.

Don’t let your mind talk you out of doing something you know you need to do just because it may seem insignificant at that moment.

Maybe you think it won’t make a difference.

But that one that you help is significant to God. Jesus gave His life for them.

Step out for the one! And see what God does from there.

We will never know until we take that first step 😊

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-15-25

Acts 26:19-20 (LSB) 19 “So, King Agrippa, I did not prove disobedient to the heavenly vision, 20 but kept declaring both to those of Damascus first, and also at Jerusalem and then throughout all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, practicing deeds appropriate to repentance.

As the Apostle Paul stood before king Agrippa, he testified about his behavior and his motives, showing that his accusers (Jewish leaders) were falsely accusing him of inciting riots.

During this testimony, Paul shared that since encountering Jesus on his way to Damascus, his purpose had been singular; to share one message with Jews and Gentiles alike.

That message was very simple; that they should repent and turn to God, practicing deeds appropriate to repentance.

The first part of that message is very clear. We must repent and turn to God.

But the last part, practicing deeds appropriate to repentance, may be a bit foggy in its meaning due to the way it is worded in various translations.

So, let’s look at that a little more closely to be sure we fully understand its meaning.

This last part is not deep or mysterious at all. And it is not difficult to understand once we see it plainly.

Practicing deeds appropriate to repentance simply means that someone who has genuinely repented will reflect that change in their behavior and their lifestyle.

The practice of habitually, intentionally sinning will fade away and be replaced by a godly lifestyle.

In short, genuine repentance is evidenced by changed behavior.

The NLT translation states it plainly:

Acts 26:20 (NLT) 20 I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that all must repent of their sins and turn to God—and prove they have changed by the good things they do.

No, we are not saved by our works. But what we say and what we do are proof of where our heart lies.

Let our hearts be one with God, and reflect our redemption in our words and our actions 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-13-25

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I love God’s word.

And with each day, month and year that passes, I love it more.

Why?

Because It nourishes my soul and strengthens my spirit.

It teaches me who God is. It encourages me to draw near to Him.

It gives me understanding in the things of God.

It shows me the path to walk in life, bringing glory and honor to God in all that I do.

And it sharpens me, like a flint sharpens a razor, taking off the blemishes and rough edges.

God’s word is a critical part of our relationship with Him. The more we feed on it, the stronger we become.

Read what David wrote about God’s word!

Psalm 119:130 (LSB) 130 The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

Psalm 119:9 (LSB) 9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.

Psalm 119:114 (NKJV) 114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.

Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Let us each devote ourselves to the learning and study of, and the meditation upon His word that we may grow and flourish as His children.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-12-25

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 pray without ceasing,

It’s 3 AM. You’ve awakened. And now you can’t get back to sleep.

Maybe you don’t know why you awoke. Maybe you do.

But sleep evades you now.

What do you do?

What can be done to make use of this time that is seemingly being wasted, tossing and turning in your bed?

Pray!

You don’t know what to pray for, or for whom?

Listen for God’s voice; His Spirit that leads us, guides us, and prompts us.

He guides us into all truth. And He will surely place someone, or some situation, on our hearts to pray for!

Meditate on His word.

Let His word bring peace to your mind. Let it soothe your soul and feed your spirit!

Those wee hours of the night and very early morning can be used to strengthen us.

They can be used to lift up others who need strengthening.

They can be used to do spiritual warfare, bringing down strongholds, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.

And meditate on His word. Let it illuminate your soul and bring you into His presence.

Don’t count these times as lost sleep. Count them as hours gained doing the work of a soldier of Christ!

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-11-25

Psalm 147:3 (NKJV) 3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

As I was talking to a person the other day who had just lost someone dear to them, they said to me, “I don’t understand why I can’t cry”.

They couldn’t cry over losing that person. It genuinely bothered then. They said, “I cry because I can’t cry for my loss.”

Our mind is a funny thing. It tries to figure everything out. It demands answers even when there may be no answer.

It’s hard to have an answer for something that affects every one of us differently. And mourning is one of them.

A few years ago I lost two people within a period of just over a year. They were both very dear to me. They both had a special place in my heart.

I found myself crying more for one of them than I did the other.

Was that wrong?

Most people would say, “you must have loved or missed one of them more than the other”.

But that was not the case at all, and I never felt guilty due to not being able to cry equally for them.

I have never questioned this because I know that, whatever the reason is, I trust God and I’m comforted.

Let God do the work. He will comfort the brokenhearted in ways that we need it.

If we need to cry, cry. If we don’t, that’s OK too. His comfort will guide us in our season of mourning.

Our minds may never know the answers to some things. We must accept that and carry on.

Mourning comes to us in different ways for each person we lose. It will not always be the same for every person. Trust in God even in the way we mourn for someone.

He heals the brokenhearted.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-10-25

1 John 4:1 (LSB) 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

God’s word was written with a purpose; to inform, teach, and educate the body of Christ.

It tells us everything we need to know; about life, and about our relationship with God.

It shows us who God is. It gives us wisdom, understanding, and insights into spiritual matters that our human minds know nothing of.

His word is alive.

Knowing this, it is important for us to grasp the critical nature of what His word says.

This is especially true with the things that are relevant to protecting our eternal destiny; being sure that we are not led away by false doctrines, false prophets, or false teachers.

So, it behooves us to pay attention when God’s word tells us to test the spirits; to discern whether they are from God.

Why?

Because false prophets have gone out into the world.

And what are their goals? To subvert the truth and lead us away from God with words that resemble His but have their origins in evil spirits.

Evil spirits rarely reveal themselves as such.

They will masquerade as angels of light, soothing our spirits with words that give the appearance of truth while subtly dripping lies.

Evil spirits will speak truth if they have a motive to do so.

We will see this often in the case of fortune tellers, mediums, etc.

Paul witnessed this in Acts 16:16-18. He recognized the evil spirit by which the girl was speaking words of truth. And he promptly cast the demon out of her.

So should we also learn to discern these things. Without proper discernment, any one of us is apt to fall prey to words that sound accurate, but are spoken with improper motives, straight from the pits of hell.

Test the spirits.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-9-25

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

Perfect peace! Praise God.

How many of us want this peace?

It’s all about focusing our mind; on who?

On Christ!

Not on the things of the world, but on Him, the One who overcame the world.

John 16:33 (NKJV) 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

That’s right; learning to keep our mind in the right place will help us find that perfect peace. And let me tell you it is worth every bit of the effort required in this fight.

Be forewarned; this is easier said than done.

Why? Because your mind has a will of its own.

It likes to do what it wants, when it wants, and how it wants. Our mind likes doing its own thing!

We must discipline it to be in that place it needs to be at all times of the day and night.

It takes work, and allowing the Holy Spirit to renew it. He will help us!

Romans 12:2 says we must renew the mind.

How do we renew our mind?

By letting the Word of God penetrate our hearts, allowing God to bring revelation and understanding to us. This brings the transformation, shaping us into the person that Christ would have us to be.

In Philippians 4:8 we are instructed to keep our minds on the things that our true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report and anything praiseworthy.

This is another area that is a constant battle because, as we all know, the world is full of all the opposite and it can be very heavy at times.

So, just a little reminder; stay focused on Christ no matter what we hear or see going on around us. Keep nothing but good in our minds.

Be still and know that He is God, and bask in His peace! Amen.

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Amen.
