Bible Verse of The Day – 11-19-25

Luke 9:23 (LSB) 23 And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.

As we left off yesterday, we were discussing the fact that God asks that we let our lives be walked out as living sacrifices to Him (Romans 12:1), which He deems as a reasonable act of spiritual worship.

Today, let’s go deeper, so we can develop an understanding of what that means for us in our daily lives.

People don’t often think of Jesus speaking or teaching about growing or maturing as a believer. But He did speak on this topic, albeit in less obvious ways.

In the verse above (Luke 9:23), Jesus directly addressed what is required if someone wishes to follow Him.

It’s important to note that following Him implies making Him your highest priority, being willing to sacrifice or surrender your own will to walk out His purpose.

Jesus didn’t dance around what was required; deny yourself, and be willing to take up your cross daily.

That’s bigger than most people realize. It requires a complete surrender on our part. And it involves learning about what God desires and requires of us.

That part right there can sometimes be a bit tougher than we may care to admit.

You see, when we accept the offer to become His child, we are making a choice that has lifelong consequences.

We are telling God that if He redeems us, we will attach ourselves to Him unconditionally.

Wow! What a commitment that is. And most of us have no idea at all what that really means at the onset.

But as we learn of Him, we begin to understand who He really is, and we begin to love Him more, our heart goes through a process of surrendering that is a result of the transformation He is walking us through.

And in that surrender, we will find peace and a kind of rest that we never knew existed or thought possible to walk in.

Matthew 11:29 (LSB) 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-18-25

2 Corinthians 5:17 (LSB) 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

One of the critical pieces of our salvation (redemption through the blood of Christ being applied on a personal basis) is understanding that His blood makes us a new creation.

He doesn’t just slap a band-aid on our wounds. He doesn’t just hose off our dirt and put clean clothes on us.

He thoroughly cleanses us by His holy, pure, perfect blood, which makes us new.

It is that newness that we must recognize and embrace if we are to fulfill His purpose for our lives.

Once we understand this, it will change everything about our lives, and it will forever alter our life’s path.

Now, part of us learning to recognize the importance of this lies in knowing the price that was paid for our redemption, and what is expected of us as blood-bought children of God.

Our salvation came at a price for the One who offered Himself for it.

God’s word is explicitly clear that since we were bought at a price, we must also offer ourselves to Him, glorifying Him in all that we do, both physically and spiritually.

1 Corinthians 6:20 (NKJV) 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

And yes, this requires a sacrifice on our part. It requires that we put God first in everything we do in deference to the One who died in our place to make us pure and holy in God’s sight.

The word of God refers to this as becoming a living sacrifice.

Romans 12:1 (LSB) 12 Therefore I exhort you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice—living, holy, and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

We should grow to understand that what God asks of us is not unreasonable. In fact, it is a minimal request on His part in light of what we have been offered through His plan of redemption.

Let’s dive deeper into this topic tomorrow.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-17-25

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (LSB) 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be equipped, having been thoroughly equipped for every good work.

If we were to honestly and openly study the New Testament, we would clearly see that a majority of what was written in these 27 books is intended to teach and exhort the body of Christ to grow and mature as believers.

It instructs us on the topics of repentance (turning away from sin), redemption (forgiveness of sin), deliverance (being set free from sin), and living righteously (glorifying God and representing Him accurately) as we live our lives here on earth.

And, if we are to be one hundred percent honest, we must admit that being a child of God without growing and maturing is not scripturally accurate.

Yes, that may hurt or irritate some who hear it. But it is the truth, straight from God’s word.

Growth is implied when someone becomes a follower of Christ. It was never meant to be optional.

Paul taught it. James taught it. Jesus taught it.

And we must all embrace this truth, even when it may be uncomfortable to do so.

With our confession of faith in Christ, there must also be a turning from our sinful ways.

This does not buy our redemption. It proves it.

Yes, the proof of our faith in Christ as our redeemer should be evident in our lives and the way we walk them out.

Over the next few days, we will look at this topic a little more in depth, so we can establish this as truth and understand it better.

We hope that these next few devotionals will be beneficial in that they will strengthen you, exhort you, encourage you, and instill in each of you new understanding, a newfound love for God and a life that accurately reflects His holiness.

We hope you will join us on this journey of discovery and understanding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-15-25

Isaiah 25:1 (NKJV) 1 O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, For You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

To be able to say, “God is our God” is an honor!

To be able to exalt Him and praise His name is an honor!

He has done wonderful things indeed. The Creator of our universe!

Don’t take His love and forgiveness toward us for granted. Even though He loves us, He hates our sin. We must be careful not to continue in it.

John 8:11 (NKJV) 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

This woman was caught in the very act of adultery. When they brought her to Jesus, He did not condemn her. But He did tell her to go and sin no more.

He loved her, but did not want her to continue to walk in darkness. He gave her another chance to do the right thing; to stop participating in adultery and follow after Him.

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Have we been given another chance? Let’s not take it for granted. Let’s seriously endeavor to make the change.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-14-25

Ephesians 2:1 (LSB) 1 And you were dead in your transgressions and sins,

Dead in trespasses and sins.

This describes every one of us prior to embracing Christ and putting our faith in Him through His shed blood.

We were breathing and living, but not alive.

We are sinful and lost; separated from God

To be clear, it is not our sinful acts that classify us as dead. It is our sinful nature.

Walking and living by our sinful nature (our flesh) equals death.

And there is not one of us who proclaims Christ as our Savior who was not dead, lost in sin, and living to please the flesh (sin nature).

We were all guilty.

Let’s look at the word, “dead”, as used in the original Greek manuscripts, and see what we can learn from it!

The Greek word for “dead” in Ephesians 2:1 is νεκρούς (pronounced nekrous)

This word literally means dead, referring to someone who is lifeless; a corpse-someone who has breathed their last.

This is eye-opening, at the very least, that we would be referred to as dead, despite breathing and having an active heartbeat.

But it shows the brutal truth of what God is trying to teach us and help us to understand; without Him we are lifeless, a corpse.

Though there are symbolism and figurative speech at play here, we must understand that apart from divine intervention, we were powerless, devoid of spiritual life, and unable to respond to God.

It is only by His Spirit that we were drawn to Him and made aware of our sinful condition, leading to us repentance and new life in Christ.

Sometimes we need to be reminded of who we once were, causing us to take whatever measures are necessary to keep us from going back.

And one thing is abundantly clear; the enemy will not cease to tempt us.

Will we resist, causing him to flee? Or will we walk the line and flirt with our old self at the risk of being drawn back into the ways of the dead?

The choice is ours to make. Choose life 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-13-25

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

His thoughts toward us are vastly different from what we could ever imagine.

Are we feeling low about ourselves; about the things we’ve done?

If we are feeling today like we are the worst ever, we could possibly be in a state of depression, thinking everything is going wrong and nothing will ever change.

We may be thinking there is no chance of coming up out of this mess we got ourselves into. Maybe we feel like we just don’t have what it takes to push forward.

Understand that God has different thoughts toward you right now. He knows your heart and what you are made of. He knows your gifts, and He knows what you are good at.

Let Him tell you today who you are in Him. Let Him speak to your heart and show you what He sees in you; what you are made of, just like He did to Jeremiah.

He holds your future in His hands. If we allow ourselves to trust Him with it, He will guide us step by step.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-12-25

Proverbs 4:18 (NKJV) 18 But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.

We’ve got to know that our God is here with us. No matter what we’re facing, He is the Light that shines in the darkness!

If we are in a season of change, don’t get nervous, and don’t fret. Brighter days are on the horizon.

The path has been paved; just walk it out.

Don’t look to the right, or to the left. Look straight ahead and lean not on your own understanding. For times such as these, we must trust Him with our whole being.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Work that muscle of trust. Don’t let fear grip you, exhaust you, or intimidate you. Keep your focus on the Lord; He will direct you.

When negative thoughts try to grip us, do the opposite of what fear tries to convince you to do; thank God for turning it around even if we can’t see where our feet will land.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

No one ever told us it would be easy. But let us put one foot in front of the other as we press on.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-11-25

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

There are three things that will keep us sound and on the right path in our walk with God; Prayer, fasting, and spending time in the word of God.

If we invest our time in doing these things, we will care more about the things of God than the things of the world.

When troubles come, we will be prepared for the battle.

Without these three things working in our lives it will make hard times much harder.

We are not saying we won’t feel the pain that comes with hardship if we are praying, fasting, and studying God’s word. We will hurt like everyone else hurts.

But a child of God will find comfort in their Father if we keep ourselves close to Him. We will be more than conquerors!

So, what does prayer do for us? Understand that prayer brings God’s answer.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

And know that prayer followed by fasting brings deliverance.

Matthew 17:21 (NKJV) 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

When we are spending time in His word, we will find wisdom and understanding for our everyday living and the things we may face in life.

Psalm 119:130 (NKJV) 130 The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

Let us not just limp through this life, but let us be more than conquerors through Him, with His strength and might.

Let us not just excel for our own benefit, but that we may be able to offer our help to others.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-10-25

Matthew 6:10 (NKJV) 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Whenever we pray for God’s will to be done, whether in the world in general, or in our personal lives, we are setting ourselves up for a good work to happen.

It may not always look pretty at first, because there are times when God’s will for us may take time to work itself out.

Sometimes there are things in us that need to be removed or maybe an attitude adjustment that needs to be made. Maybe we need some type of deliverance before we can see the results we are looking for.

Either way, His will being done may seem opposite to what we were thinking or had in mind.

Isaiah 55:8 (NKJV) 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.

And the same goes for others that we pray for, or places/areas we pray for. The overall look and feel of the outcome may not be what we expected from God.

But, give it time and let Him complete that good work that He began! As we watch it play out, we will see that God’s ways are always better than ours.

Philippians 1:6 (NKJV) 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

Amen.
