Bible Verse of The Day – 3-7-26

Proverbs 23:26 (NKJV) 26 My son, give me your heart, And let your eyes observe my ways.

Are we talking to God from our hearts, or are we repeating what we hear others say? Are we mimicking the prayers of someone we admire and want to be like?

When we mimic someone, we are mirroring that person, using their gestures, their speech patterns, sometimes even their postures; the way they carry themselves. I’ve seen people in a class setting look and act almost like their teacher.

Many people do this without realizing they are doing it.

When we are mimicking, it is often done out of habit or learned behavior. Usually those around us or those who know us will notice it before we do.

When we are in the beginning of our walk with God, we learn how to do things. We learn how to pray, study, read, etc.

We often follow and watch other believers who are more experienced in certain areas. We learn from watching and listening to others.

But we need to be very careful we don’t get stuck mimicking someone, doing only what we have seen instead of learning how to come to God on our own, with our own words, and in our own way instead of mirroring the words and prayer of someone else.

God wants our own persona when we meet with Him. He wants us to be real; He wants to hear the cry from our own heart. He wants to hear our praises to Him from our own victories that He has walked us through.

Be yourself when you approach God. Let your heart, your feelings, and your voice be heard.

Your heart is important to Him. He knows what you need.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-6-26

Luke 7:34 (LSB) 34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

We frequently hear Jesus spoken of as a friend of sinners.

The religious leaders in His day accused Him of this.

We also hear many speakers teach about this as well.

And it is true. He spent time dining and fellowshipping with them around the table on numerous occasions.

But is it true in the ways that we have heard stated? Let’s take a look!

The accusation of the Pharisees and other religious men attempted to paint Jesus as irreverent, a drunkard (wine drinker), and of spending time with those who were “sinners” (irreligious Jews) and tax collectors.

Many teachers today also call Jesus a friend of sinners. But they use this phrase, which was originally spoken as an insult, to paint a picture of Jesus as someone who embraced them without addressing the sin in their lives.

Both uses of the phrase “friend of sinners” have partial truths in them. But we must be careful not to use the phrase loosely at the risk of painting an incorrect picture of why Jesus did what He did.

Jesus did not hang with “undesirables” for the simple sake of eating food and drinking wine with them.

He did these things to shine light on them; to show them love despite the labels they had been given by others in society who looked down on them and held themselves as being worthy of being called righteous, albeit by their faulty works.

And on many occasions, He addressed their sin directly, encouraging them to “sin no more”.

The end goal of Jesus was to lead them to repentance. How do we know that? By His own words.

Luke 5:31-32 (LSB) 31 And Jesus answered and said to them, “It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”

So let us never mistake the actions of Jesus as condoning sin. But rescuing them, showing them truth wrapped in grace, to “heal them” from their sinful condition, and to lead them to repentance.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-5-26

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

God is so very personal. He knows us inside and out.

His touch is so deep at times it makes you want to fall to your knees in awe.

Many years ago, after a Sunday morning church service, someone handed us an envelope. They said it wasn’t from them, but the person that gave it wanted to remain anonymous.

On the way home, we opened up the envelope; it contained $333.

We knew God was touching us right where we needed Him to touch us.

It hit us right in the heart, and we broke down in tears. Why? Because no one else knew our need at that moment.

Only God knew. But yet He touched someone to help us in our time of need. It was so very personal.

God has moved in very personal ways throughout our walk with Him.

You may be reading this today and saying, but I need God to touch me personally, I need Him to help me in my situation.

He will. Call to Him and then trust Him. Wait for His answer. Obey what He says to do. And when He brings it, know that it is Him and thank Him.

He’s never late. He never comes up short. He never leaves us hanging. He’s right on time, and He will not forsake us.

Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV) 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

He waits for you to call on Him and then be ready. He will show you great and mighty things!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-4-26

Ecclesiastes 12:13 (NLT) 13 That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.

This verse is a perfect summary of what our relationship with God should be; loving God enough to reverently fear Him and obey Him—doing what He says is right.

While most of us tend to complicate our walk with God, the foundation of it all comes down to the statement made in the verse above.

Yes, each of us is unique. And our relationship with Him will be unique because of that. But the foundation it is built on should be what the Word of God tells us, and that never changes.

So, knowing this, how do we go about it?

It really isn’t complicated.

Jesus said it perfectly when confronted by the Pharisees. They asked Him, “what is the most important commandment?”.

He readily answered with this: You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.

And that is it, spoken very succinctly by Jesus Himself, God with us.

So what will we do with our lives? What is important to us? What really matters to us in our day-to-day priorities?

Those are pretty sobering questions if we ponder them seriously.

Only we can answer that. Only we can make the choices that govern our lives.

And in the end, let us be found guilty of only one thing: running the race in a way that we may obtain the prize, finding our joy not in who we are, but in the One we pursue.

1 Corinthians 9:24 (NKJV) 24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-3-26

Proverbs 15:1-2 (NKJV) 1 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. 2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.

We don’t always need to answer quickly.

Most times, if we take our time and let God help us understand what we are angry about before we spew something out, He will bring understanding to us that will help us be wise with our reaction.

It’s not always easy to do what this verse is saying. A soft answer is hard to find when our emotions are exploding from the words we just heard.

In the heat of the moment, it is better to not say anything than to say something that can fuel the fire, so to speak.

And usually in those moments fueling the fire does not feel like a bad thing. We think it will feel better to “vent” and say what we are feeling. But most of the time we feel awful afterward.

We wish we could take back the words we spoke. But it’s too late. The damage is done.

Let us learn from this proverb; the tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly. We can be wise with our answer in the heat of the moment by letting the Holy Spirit temper our words.

Exodus 4:12 (NKJV) 12 Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

Instead of getting angry and saying whatever comes to mind, let Him be with our mouth and teach us what to say and how to say it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-2-26

John 19:30 (LSB) 30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

As I was going about various daily tasks today, I was pondering the shortest verse in the Bible; Jesus wept.

In my lifetime I have heard many people expound the various aspects of the importance of this verse.

But as I was doing so, it occurred to me that there are other phrases in the Word of God that, though succinct and brief, are equally important and impactful as “Jesus wept.” They may not all be complete verses, but their importance is no less paramount.

The first phrase that came to mind was the one above: “It is finished.”

The weight of this three-word declaration is enormous in its scope and impact on all humanity.

Through His crucifixion and death, Jesus offered redemption to the world by His pure, holy, and perfect blood.

There has never been another single event in human history with such far-reaching effects.

The earth quaking and the sky turning dark immediately prior to His death served as undeniable evidence of the moment’s significance.

And the tearing of the temple veil from top to bottom was the first visible, tangible sign of His redemptive work.

And the ramifications of this truth have echoed down through the centuries and remain just as vital today. The blood of Jesus still holds the power to wash clean the sins of any man or woman. There is no sin or depth of darkness too great for His blood to cleanse.

When Jesus spoke the words, “It is finished,” He meant exactly that. Nothing more can be added to His redemptive work. No amount of fleshly effort, good deeds, or acts of kindness can enhance or diminish what Jesus accomplished on the cross.

So if you ever feel you’re too far gone for God to redeem or make clean again, remember the words of Jesus — the most powerful three words ever spoken: It is finished.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-26

2 Samuel 23:2 (NKJV) 2 “The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue.

God uses our tongue.

What happened to talking with people on the phone?

Does it take up too much time?

What have we become when we can’t make a phone call because we may actually have to have a conversation for more than 2 minutes?

Make the call.

Think of how much that means to someone that does not know how to type or use a smartphone; someone that is alone. Someone that needs encouragement. Someone who is ready to throw in the towel.

Words are powerful, and sometimes someone needs to hear our voice speak the very words that God puts on our tongue in that moment.

Your voice, not your text messages on your phone, not words on the screen. The sound of your voice sowing God’s seed is powerful!

Don’t lose that touch. Communication is very important. Reach out today. Let God use your tongue.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-27-26

Romans 8:35 (LSB) 35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will affliction, turmoil, or persecution, famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

If there is one truth that the word of God establishes far and above all others, it is the faithfulness of God.

God is steadfast and faithful when we are not.

He is an ever-present helper in times of trouble.

Psalm 46:1-2 (LSB) 1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

He is our shade in the desert, and our light in the dark of night.

He is the lifter of our heads. And the healer of our diseases.

He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider.

He will never leave or forsake us.

So, in response to the question above, who can separate us from His love?

No one.

Accept, of course, ourselves.

We choose whether we will embrace and accept His love. We choose whether we run to, or away from Him.

But even if we choose to run away, it does not negate His incredible faithfulness and His love.

So let us not be concerned with whether God will be faithful or not. But let us fix our eyes squarely on Him and love Him with our whole heart, running the race as if to win the prize.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-26-26

Isaiah 40:29 (NKJV) 29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

Never give up.

Life is challenging and we all have gone, or will go, through something that may try to cause us to give up.

Don’t.

We can’t give in to things that try to take us out. It’s at that moment when we feel like this that we need to reach out and ask God to help us through it.

I remember one day when I was laying on my back on the floor in our living room. I was terribly scared of what was happening in my life. And I was tired of the fight.

I had been trying so hard to do everything possible to change the situation, and I could not see anything changing.

It is the worst place to be, ever.

As I laid there, I saw Jesus kneeling beside me with a smile on His face. He reached over and touched me and said, “it will be alright.”

I cried some more and then pulled myself up off the floor. I could not forget His smile and the look of peace on His face; it carried me through the last leg of that race.

That was all I needed to hear and see. Sometimes His touch is so gentle, but yet it’s everything we need.

I know you are reading this today and you are tired like me. You’ve done everything and you can not see any changes; you want to give up.

Let Him touch you, He will keep you moving forward, and you will finish the last leg of that race with His increased strength in you!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-25-26

Psalm 145:9 (NKJV) 9 The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works.

Sweet tender mercy…thank you Lord!

How many of us needed His tender mercy and He delivered?!

We can all say, yes and amen to this today!

I praise Him for the gift of life today!

I praise Him for His faithfulness. For His provision for food, shelter, protection, and guidance!

I praise Him today for His mercy and how new it is every morning!

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Most importantly, I praise Him for salvation and eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ!

Today, know that we serve a good God; there is none like Him!

1 Samuel 2:2 (NKJV) 2 “No one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.
