Bible Verse of The Day – 6-25-22

Psalm 103:17-18 (NKJV) 17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, 18 To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them.

There is something that I find troubling in today’s society; where is the fear of God?

We need to make sure we are not getting desensitized to the world. And only we can tell if we are or not.

If I tell someone I’m a Christian, but I still act like the world and fit right in, and if nothing that I see in the world seems to bother me, I’d better think again.

if we have been washed in the blood, of Jesus Christ, if we have been forgiven of our sins and made whole, seeing worldly behavior should bother us. It should frustrate us to no end.

Life is short compared to eternity. We need to make sure we are doing our best as believers/Christians to share the love of God and cause people to ask others, “who is that person?”.

Don’t be embarrassed to do the right thing in places where it might seem unusual. Fear God enough to make a statement and stand out!

What makes us do the right thing?

Knowing who we are and Who we belong to, and knowing that He is Almighty God, Alpha and Omega, our Heavenly Father who chose us first.

1 John 4:19 (NKJV) 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

He loves us. And we love Him back by keeping His covenant and walking in His Commandments.

We need to stop idolizing and worshipping things; money & status symbols, etc.

We need to stop gossiping and stop judging.

We need to stop pretending that we are living a fairy tale life. We live in a real hard place.

We need to stop being prideful and arrogant.

We need to stop watching and listening to filth.

We need to rise up, fear God and do what we know we are supposed to do; teach and train up those God brings around us by being an example! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-24-22

Malachi 3:6 (NKJV) 6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

In a world full of uncertainties, God’s unchanging nature is something we can hold fast to.

This verse is pretty interesting if we look closely at it, so let’s dig in!

Israel was a rebellious nation.

No matter what God did for them, how often He forgave them, or how many times He saved them from harm or destruction, they continued to rebel.

And they actually accused God of leaving them, when it was them who had abandoned God, over and over again.

He had every right to utterly destroy them. But He didn’t.

Why?

Because He had promised not to do so. He had promised to be their God and watch over them.

Because of His unchanging nature, He kept that promise. And because of that, He would not destroy them, even though they likely deserved it.

This is great for us to understand for two reasons.

One, it shows that God is trustworthy. He will never fail us.

Two, it shows that even when we rebel, if we sincerely repent, He will stand by us and do right by us.

And while He’s waiting for us to see our own sins and repent, He will wait patiently.

This is good news for us today, as we watch the world wallow in horrible amounts of horrific sin and evil.

Be assured that God will not abandon us. He will wait, wooing us to Himself, providing us with a way out of our rebellious ways.

Let us obey Him and do what He is asking us to do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-23-22

2 Timothy 1:1 (NKJV) 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus…

Paul was an apostle by the will of God, meaning that God wanted to use Paul in such a way.

Could Paul have said no to God? Yes, he could have. God does give us a choice.

However, think of all that would have changed if he did not obey the will of God for his life.

These books, Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, and Hebrews, in the New testament would not have been written.

All the knowledge, wisdom, correction, struggles, strengths, etc. would have been lost. Wow! Paul’s obedience benefitted us all.

God’s will for our lives may not be to become an apostle like Paul.

Whatever it may be, though, will be very meaningful and make a great difference in some way, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

We have a choice. We can say no to His will for us. But I know that if I did, I would always be thinking about the “what if”.

Let us get serious and seek God for who He is, and He will guide us into the things He desires us to do in serving others.

Keep His word in us. It is His manual that guides our steps!

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-22-22

Psalm 103:17-18 (NKJV) 17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, 18 To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them.

Many people like to quote the first several words of verse 17, above; “the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting”.

Sadly, they also often leave out the next few words, which are the qualifiers of that first sentence. This completely changes the meaning of what was written.

God’s word needs to be read in context if we are to get the truth, not just warm fuzzy feelings from words that make us feel good.

With that said, let’s look at this more closely.

The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting.

So, on whom is His mercy from everlasting to everlasting (unending)?

On those who fear Him.

That’s pretty straight forward. But you see, some people don’t like to include it because it literally decreases the number of people upon whom His mercy is unending, making it less of a warm and fuzzy, feel-good verse.

Jesus said that the truth will set us free.

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

But half-truths will only create a false sense of security, resulting in people remaining slaves to their sin.

Verse 18 further qualifies those first several words, listing other requirements for His mercy to be forever upon us; keep His covenant, and remember (practice or walk out) His commandments.

Let’s be careful to study and utilize God’s word in its proper context, being cautious not to “cherry pick’ phrases that sound good, but don’t represent the entirety of what was intended to be said.

The fruits of proper use of God’s word will surely outweigh and outlast the fruits of improper use.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-21-22

1 John 1:2 (NKJV) 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us…

Eternal life was with the Father and was manifested to us through His Son Jesus Christ. Through Him we can receive it.

He is the author and finisher of our faith! Hallelujah!

He looked beyond the cruelty that He was about to endure for us on the cross and did it anyways.

He suffered for you and me and gave us the greatest opportunity, to believe and receive the gift of eternal life.

Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV) 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

He now sits at the right hand of His Father and has sent to us a Helper to guide us and lead us through these very disturbing times we live in.

Is it easy, even with our Helper at hand?

No. It’s not easy. But it is very comforting to have Someone so excellent to guide and lead us down the right road every time.

We don’t need to worry about taking the wrong steps if we follow and listen to Him.  Amen.

Our Helper, the Holy Spirit, will be there for us. And He will give us the strength we need to make it through each day and each situation we face.

Trials and tribulations will come for sure. And if we are in denial, we will get trampled and beaten down.

Know that even though we are believers, we will face hardship at times. We need our Helper. He will prepare us for the things to come and remind us of the things that will speak directly to the situation we face.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Cling to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-20-22

Proverbs 13:24 (NKJV) 24 He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.

Sometimes we have to spend some time going back to the basics, even with the word of God.

This verse is an example of that. It doesn’t unlock any of the deeper mysteries of God’s word, or give us a deeper relationship with Him in the usual sense of things.

What it does, though, is to reinforce how we are to handle the raising of our children.

Far too many parents today have lost sight of the fact that firm discipline is necessary if we want our children to understand right and wrong. It also helps them to grasp the importance of obeying, respecting and honoring authority in their lives from a young age.

Firm discipline doesn’t mean being abusive or harsh. It just means that there are absolutes that are enforced, giving our children a clearer understanding of what is expected of them.

Interestingly, the very first part of the verse states that those who do not discipline their children properly, “hate them”.

In reality, this refers to the product of a home or upbringing with little or no discipline.

An undisciplined child typically ends up being an unruly child who is difficult for people to be around. This makes them less than desirable to spend time with due to their poor behavior.

Thus, the word “hate” being applied to such situations.

And one last thing that’s noteworthy in this verse is the word, “promptly”, which is actually the very last word in the scripture.

Promptly actually means “early”. So, we are to begin proper discipline of our children early, while they are still at a young age.

This is an important piece of the puzzle that many miss, for fear of damaging their child’s psyche or for fear of causing children to be afraid of their parents.

Trust God’s word. If God disciplines those whom He loves, then should we not also properly discipline our own children?

Proverbs 3:12 (NKJV) 12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-18-22

Proverbs 19:17 (NKJV) 17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.

Wow!

When we help others and do kind things for those in need, we are actually lending to the Lord. How many of us knew this?

Being God’s children, we think it would be natural to give. For some it is, but for others they struggle.

Where do we stand in this? Are we willing to let go and help others?

This scripture says that when we do, we are lending to the Lord.

So, I guess we shouldn’t think about who or what it is for, but make sure we are listening to the Lord as to whether we should or should not, how much, and what the timing should be.

I can’t even imagine that I would ever be lending to the Lord. Everything I have is what He has blessed me with. He is so good.

So, the next time we see or hear of a situation where there is a need, go for it! Because not only are we obeying, but much more than that, we are giving back to our Lord.

What a beautiful opportunity!

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-17-22

Matthew 16:17 (NKJV) 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

For all of Peter’s faults and failures, there were times when he hit the nail on the head, so to speak. And this is certainly one of those times when he nailed it.

Every once in a while, Peter would say something that was truly profound and surely 100% inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Peter reached a point (probably without even realizing it himself) where he recognized Jesus for who He truly was; The Christ, the Son of the living God.

When Peter spoke these words, Jesus encouraged him by telling him that this was not revealed to him by flesh and blood (by man), but “My Father who is in heaven”.

Let us walk as Peter walked, rising above the struggles of the flesh and speaking the words that the Holy Spirit has dropped into our spirit.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, with man this is impossible. But with God, all things are possible!

Matthew 19:26 (NKJV) 26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

As humans, we do not have the capacity in the natural to see and understand spiritual things. But with God, all things are possible.

And we need to understand that the time for us to learn to see, hear and speak by the Spirit of God is here and now!

Let us not delay any further the effort required to understand the importance and the urgency of this.

It is imperative that we push our human flesh and human thoughts aside and let God speak His words into our spirits, that we might get the wisdom and understanding we need for the season in which we are living.

Peter was but a mere man, just as you and I. But he allowed God to transform Him into a mighty solder for Christ. Let us do the same.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-16-22

John 4:39 (NKJV) 39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.”

These words caused many people to believe; “He told me all that I ever did”.

Boy, if we only could understand today how much He knows about us. If we could grasp that, many people might give their lives to Him.

This Samaritan woman was simply getting some water when she met Jesus at the well. For her it was what changed her life.

What will we be doing when we finally meet Him? And what I mean by meeting Him is, when we finally come face to face with Him and surrender our heart to Him.

The Samaritan woman wasn’t anywhere special when Jesus showed up. She wasn’t dressed in any special clothing or at any special kind of service or event.

She was simply drawing water from a well.

Jesus knows about each and every one of us.

He knows where we are right now. He knows what we do each day and night. He knows us all. He can sit beside us and tell us everything about ourselves.

Now, believe Him when He says to you today, “in spite of all that I know about you and your sin, I still love you. I died for you on that cross and I want to help you overcome the things of this world”.

Romans 5:8 (NKJV) 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

This is a “One of a kind of love”.

We will never find it in anyone or anything else.

Jesus Christ knows all about us and still loves us. Will we love Him back? Will we believe in Him today and say, “Yes, we will repent and follow you”?

Amen. Praise be to God!

My Bible Verse of the Day – 6-15-22

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath…

Words are many.

We all speak. We all have things to say. Some more than others.

But it’s important to understand that we learn so much more by listening than we do by speaking.

There are times when it is required that we speak. So, when that is the case, let us be careful with the words that we speak.

Let us not speak simply because there is an opportunity to do so. Let us use wisdom and discernment, so as to be careful to speak the words that God would have us to speak.

Speaking swiftly is not always the best practice. Nor is speaking out of anger or frustration.

Let us contemplate our words and the consequences of them. For the things that we say can never be retracted, nor can the effects or repercussions of those words be easily undone.

Do we wish to be wise? Let us learn to listen and discern. And then let us speak gracefully, with patience and Holy Spirit-led timing and understanding.

And, most of all, let us hear! For without hearing, we will never grow.

Ecclesiastes 3:7 (NKJV) 7 … A time to keep silence, And a time to speak…

God, we ask you to help us to know when to speak and when to be silent. Amen
