Bible Verse of The Day – 5-13-22

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NKJV) 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.

It’s important that when we do something, we should be careful to do it with all our might.

As I personally like to say, anything worth doing is worth doing right.

And doing something right requires a 100% effort on our part.

Some might not think of this as a Biblical message. Some may say that it has nothing to do with sharing the gospel.

And while it may not relate directly to the gospel itself, it can definitely apply to the sharing of that same gospel and the efforts we make to do so.

Additionally, if God’s word says that we need to do everything with all our might, then we would do very well to heed that bit of counsel.

You see, God didn’t create us to be mediocre. He created us to serve Him with excellence!

We are to be examples of who He is in our daily lives. And He does nothing halfway. Nothing.

Jesus Himself gave His all for us; for you and for me.

So, if we are to be living examples of what God has taught us, let us do it with all our might.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-12-22

Psalm 73:28 (NKJV) 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all Your works.

Battles are part of life. Yes, even for believers this is so.

In fact, as believers, battles are apt to be a bigger part of our life than if we were unbelievers.

There’s a good reason for that, but we won’t dig into all of that today!

Suffice it to say that we will all face battles as part of our walk with God.

As we face these battles, there are two things that we need to be sure we do. These two things will help us push through the battles with victory.

1. We need to be sure to stay close to God, even during our battles.

Many times, we tend to pull away from Him when we face tough situations.

Why?

Because we get in our heads and try to fix everything intellectually.

Logical thinking doesn’t win spiritual battles. A strong spirit and razor-sharp discernment do.

So, in order to have those qualities, we absolutely need to stay close to God.

And those qualities, along with perseverance, will help us win.

2. The other things we need to be sure to do is to continue to trust God with our finances.

This means that when things get tough, we don’t stop giving.

God has promised that if we give to the storehouse, He will open the heavens and bless us (Malachi 3:10).

He has also told us that He will rebuke the devourer for our sake, protecting the fruit of our ground (Malachi 3:11).

But He can only do this if we give (tithe)!

God doesn’t need our money. He owns it all anyway.

But, because our finances are valuable to us, our faithfulness in giving shows (proves) our trust in Him.

And it speaks to the enemy as well. It’s like shouting at the top of our lungs, “you can’t stop me, devil. I trust my God more than I fear you!”.

And it’s important to note that in Malachi 3:10, God tells us to test Him in this.

This is the only place in the entirety of God’s word that He says we are allowed to test Him. That is serious stuff right there.

So, let’s take God at His word, obey Him, trust Him.

Let’s draw near to Him. And let’s give as He has instructed us to do, even during our most fierce battles.

These things will show God that we trust Him, and will help bring victory no matter what we face.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-11-22

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Many believers spend much of their time seeking out their calling.

It’s understandable that this happens.

God has, after all, given each of us gifts and talents that He wants us to use to further His kingdom and bring Him glory and honor.

It’s important, though, that we don’t get so caught up in the calling that we forget the Caller.

Throughout God’s word, we are told to seek Him and His kingdom. We are also told to walk the steps that he has prepared for us.

But nowhere are we repeatedly told to seek our call.

You see, our walk with Him is absolutely the most important thing we can spend our time and effort on. Our relationship with Him is the bedrock of everything else we will ever do.

Spending our time and energy seeking anything else is essentially lost time.

Most importantly, if we are seeking Him, we will find our call. We just might not realize it at the time.

But as we press more closely in to Him, He will change our heart. And as He does that, we will begin to live out (and walk out) what He desires for us. And we will begin to walk out our call without ever having to try to figure out what that call is.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-10-22

Matthew 7:1-2 (NKJV) 1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

Judging or finding fault with others is a big thing with Christians, and it can become a problem.

We have not become perfect and without fault just because we have become a Christian.

We still sin and we still have many things to work on. We struggle with our weaknesses. They tend to show up and remind us of this every now and then.

So, why do we point out the faults of others and ignore our own?

Most times it is because we are trying to feel better about ourselves. We don’t want to have to deal with our own sins, so if we can find someone with what we would call a “more obvious or worse sin” we tend to point it out. It is a huge distraction for most of us.

We need to get our eyes off of others and pay attention to our own sin that needs dealing with.

Some of us our dealing with things that have been with us since our childhood.

Some of us our dealing with things that have happened while we were under some sort of abusive situation.

And others are dealing with sinful addictions that we have learned to hide very well, etc.

We all have our own faults/sins, so pointing out the sins of others, and talking about it, will not take God’s eyes off of ours. Let us deal with our own faults and pray for others that need a change of heart as well.

God is faithful to help us remain humble in our hearts while listening and watching others that need help in their walk as well as us.

Finding fault and judging won’t get us anywhere but in trouble.

Job 6:24 (NKJV) 24 “Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; Cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-9-22

Psalm 86:10 (NKJV) 10 For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God.

The more I live here on this earth, the more I understand the reality of this one thing; He alone is God. And He alone is worthy of our trust, our faith, our honor and our worship.

Trusting in anything here on earth is like riding on a rollercoaster. One minute you’re up, and the next minute you’re down. Or, you’re being thrashed around from the wild ride you’re being taken on.

With God, there is no worry of Him changing. There is no worry of Him abandoning us.

And it’s in that fact that I find my solace, my peace and my stability.

We urge you to do the same.

Let go of the world. And hold only loosely to the things of this life.

Place your trust firmly in Him, and hold fast to Him every minute of every day.

You will not be disappointed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-7-22

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Earlier this morning I was having a great conversation with someone about the state of the current world.

We discussed the fact that we are headed into end times types of events, and that evil has markedly increased in recent years.

As part of that conversation, we got on the topic of fear.

Fear has been used to do some terrible things to mass numbers of people over the centuries. And the last couple of years is no exception.

Fear has driven many people to make decisions that they would not normally make.

It has caused people to separate themselves from society. It has caused people to isolate themselves from friends and family.

And it has caused some to submit themselves to things that they would never have submitted to under normal circumstances.

We want to remind everyone today that fear is not of God.

Fear is a tool used by the enemy and his cohorts to back people into a corner, making them feel like they have no choice but to obey those who are wielding that fear as a mighty weapon.

Never make choices based on fear. It will almost always come back to haunt us. We will regret those choices terribly most times.

So, if you’re faced with making a choice of some kind, and fear is what’s driving you to make that choice, step back and take a look at what’s happening.

Look for God in it. Does it feel like what you’re doing is led by God? Are your choices giving you a feeling of peace?

Or does it feel chaotic and crazy, like you’d never do this if you weren’t scared?

Remember that God is not the author of confusion. And let that guide your decisions and choices.

1 Corinthians 14:33 (NKJV) 33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace…

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-6-22

Psalm 14:2 (NKJV) 2 The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.

Years ago, there was a song that was made popular on mainstream secular radio stations called, “From a Distance”.

The song talked about God looking down and watching us, from a distance.

I haven’t listened to secular radio for more than 25 years. But I had heard of this song when it was popular, and I despised it.

Why? Because it painted a picture of God as some aloof, uncaring figurehead who never interacted with humans, but simply watched from a distance in some strange, warm and fuzzy kind of way.

The truth is, though, that God loves and thrives on His relationship with us.

The verse above tells us that God does, in fact, look down upon us. But not in a disconnected sort of way.

He looks down upon “the children of men” (human beings). And this is where it gets interesting.

Why does He look down upon you and I? To see if there are any who understand, and who seek Him.

This is what God desires; that we seek Him, and that we get understanding about His ways.

And that is the core of our spiritual growth.

If we seek Him, and we get understanding, we will have no choice but to grow and mature.

As we grow and mature, what used to seem illogical and impossible to our human minds now becomes part of our everyday thinking and understanding.

And this blows the warm and fuzzy version of God right out of the water. Wouldn’t you agree?

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-5-22

Luke 12:34 (NKJV) 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Keeping our heart focused on the right things, heading in the right direction, will help us to have good treasure.

We want our treasure to be in God, through God and for God!

Don’t let the world take our focus. Don’t let it desensitize us to its conditions. And don’t let it tell us what we should have and not have.

Matthew 6:33 NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God is the One who knows what we need, when we need it and how to get it.

So, our focus and our hearts must long to seek after Him, and nothing and no one else.

There are a few things that would like to steal our good treasure; lust, greed, and power. These are the 3 big ones to watch out for.

Don’t let them win. Fight to keep our treasures in Him, for Him and through Him. And our hearts will remain with Him.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-4-22

Micah 2:1 (NKJV) 1 Woe to those who devise iniquity, And work out evil on their beds! At morning light they practice it, Because it is in the power of their hand.

We have all witnessed a large amount of corruption and tyranny in recent years.

It’s everywhere. And it’s all around us at increasing levels as each day goes by.

Some days it seems like there is no hope. No chance of seeing justice. And we may even question whether God is seeing what we’re seeing or not because the evildoers seem to go unpunished while the righteous suffer.

More and more often, though, I am seeing that God is watching and He is seeing what’s happening. And He will execute justice in His timing.

And if you’re in the same boat, wondering why evil seems to go unpunished, this may help you.

Micah 2:3 (NKJV) 3 Therefore thus says the Lord: “Behold, against this family I am devising disaster, From which you cannot remove your necks; Nor shall you walk haughtily, For this is an evil time.

Many of us may not live to see God’s justice exercised. His timing is not our timing.

But rest assured that God will prevail. And evildoers will answer for their actions.

The thing we need to do in the meantime is to focus our time and efforts on drawing near to God, not on waiting impatiently to see those who carry our evil be punished for their actions.

God’s word is final. And I rest in that.

Make sure you rest in that, too. It will bring peace and rest to your soul.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-3-22

Matthew 27:35-37 (NIV) 35 When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. 36 And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. 37 Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

As I write this, it is Good Friday, and I am so very humbled as I take this day and time to reflect on what the Lord has done for us.

Every day in the lives of believers should be a “Good Friday”! Amen.

What a loving and giving Savior, Jesus Christ, to do what He has done for us.

He was verbally accused with words that were untrue. He was physically abused, whipped and tortured.

Then, He was nailed to the cross. He hung there until His death.

And on that 3rd day, He came alive. How glorious!

Luke 24:6-7 (NKJV) 6 He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, 7 saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’

Would anyone besides Jesus sacrifice themselves for us and go through what He did?

Never. No one could do what He did for us. We needed the perfect and righteous blood of Jesus to cleanse us from our sins and make us whole again.

He has saved us from hell, but only if we choose to believe in Him. He has given us such a precious gift; eternal life!

He deserves our whole hearts and our full attention each and every day.

He should be the first One we talk to in the morning, and carry it on throughout the day.

And then before we close our eyes at night, the last one to say, “thank you and goodnight” to. Our protector, provider and our Savior!

Praise You, Lord, for great and mighty are You forever and ever. Amen.
