Bible Verse of The Day – 7-25-14

(Galatians 4:16 NKJV) Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?

Have we ever had this happen when telling someone the truth? Are we now enemies because we spoke up and told them how we felt, only to protect them or out of concern?

Sometimes this happens when we speak the truth. People may take it the wrong way or maybe they just don’t want to hear the truth and it causes them to get so upset that they want nothing to do with us afterwards.

If this has happened to us at any time in our lives, the worst thing we can do is stop living. In other words, we can’t let what other people think of us rule our lives and dictate to us, accusing us of doing something wrong. Don’t let it hang over our heads like a dark cloud.

We spoke the truth, and if that caused them to think that we are their enemy then that’s what they think. But we need to continue to love them and pray for them. God is faithful to turn things around. In His time, He makes all things beautiful.

Don’t stop living…have fun! Enjoy life! Sometimes we have to speak the truth when the door is open and it may be that whoever we have to speak it to will turn on us. We can’t control that.

All we can do is our part and then keep on living and keep on loving and trust God to work everything else out!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-24-14

(Luke 6:35 NKJV) “But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

Learning how to love our enemies is completely opposite of what our flesh wants to do to them. We all struggle with this at times.

The flesh says, let’s get them back. How can we punish them? What can we do to make them angry or cause problems for them? How can we make them hurt the way they hurt us? How about we just run from them and never want to see them again?

Our hearts need to understand that there is only one way to handle our enemies. If someone has messed with us and caused trouble for us, if he/she is considered to be our enemy, then we need to love them, in spite of the difficulty, the pain, the sorrow, the problems, etc,. they have caused for us.

There is no way that a person can do this without the help and strength of Jesus Christ and our Helper, the Holy Spirit. If there is someone in your life that is considered to be your enemy, ask Jesus today to help you to love them and treat them respectfully, and let the Holy Spirit guide you in the decisions you have to make regarding the situation.

For even Jesus Himself is kind to those that are unthankful and evil.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-23-14

James 5:16 (NKJV) Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

We, followers of Christ, form a body. We are many different parts, operating as one unit.

Or at least that’s how God intends for us to work… in unity, as one. He commanded us to confess our sins to each other, to help each other through the rough times in our lives.

Sadly, though, this doesn’t happen as often as it should. We find ourselves afraid to confess anything to each other, for fear of being judged or made an outcast.

And many of us are also guilty of being the ones who judge those who make mistakes and are honest enough to make it known to others. We all make mistakes; every single one of us. Some mistakes (poor choices) that we make might seem worse than others, but in reality it’s all sin in God’s eyes.

The sad part is that when sin gets categorized like this, some of us tend to look at some people as being worse than others, due simply to the category their sin happens to fall in.

Let’s stop putting sin (and people) into categories and causing division within the body of Christ. Instead, let’s start praying for each other, lifting each other up and supporting each other.

This is what God intended for us to do and how to treat each other.

John 13:34-35 (NKJV) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-22-14

(Proverbs 3:6 NKJV)  In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

It’s Summer time here where we live and it can be a busy season for everyone.

The weather is great and there’s so much we can do! Fishing, swimming, picnicking and family gatherings, and all the excitement. It sure can wear us out.

Before we know it the day, week and month is over and we’ve spent very little one-on-one time with God.

Just a little reminder; acknowledge Him in all our ways, wherever we are and whatever we are doing, keeping God in it.

Keep Him at the forefront of it all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-21-14

John 10:10 (NKJV) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The enemy of our souls comes to destroy us. It is his goal to do whatever is necessary to tear us down and take us out. He will use whatever means are necessary to try to accomplish this.

But Jesus came to defeat the enemy and give us life, abundantly.

Jesus came and paid the price for our sins. His death and resurrection bought our redemption… our salvation and eternal destiny.

But it also did more than that. His death and resurrection bought healing for our bodies and our minds. It bought deliverance from demonic spirits.

As followers of Christ, we never have to be in bondage to anything. Not to sickness, not to depression, addiction or oppression.

Jesus paid the price for every single one of us so that we could be free from these and so many other things. But the world, and even some people in the church, have been fooled into thinking that there is no freedom for some people.

Let me stand boldly today and say very plainly that bondage to any sickness or disease isn’t part of God’s plan for your life. You don’t have to claim ownership of any medical condition, even if the doctors say it’s “incurable”.

They don’t know the power of our God, who is in the healing and delivering business.

My lungs were once riddled with asthma. But today I breathe freely because Jesus set me free. He delivered me and healed me.

And today He can deliver you and heal you too. Believe it. Proclaim it and walk in it.

If He will heal me, He will heal you too.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-19-14

Proverbs 23:4-5 (NKJV)4 Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease! 5 Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.

Wealth. It’s something that so many of us chase after, but so few attain.

What’s even worse, many of the people who become rich end up losing it all after a period of time. And then they have to start all over again.

God is not against us being rich or wealthy with material means. In fact, poverty is a trap in and of itself that can be used by the enemy to bring us down to new levels of low.

But what God doesn’t want is for us to spend our lives chasing after wealth and missing out on what He really wants us to be doing.

So stop and check yourself today. Are all those hours we’re working really necessary to support ourselves and our family, or are they simply our own way of chasing after things that we don’t really need and can’t really afford?

Hmm. Let’s think about that one and be really honest with ourselves.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-18-14

Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV) So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.

As we walk though our lives and we encounter various situations, trials, difficulties, etc., we often call on God to help us or deliver us from them.

When we do, we always seem to have preconceived ideas as to how God should do it. Most times these ideas involve God swooping down in some miraculous way, making a grand display of His power and might, crushing our problems with His awesomeness!

On the contrary, though, it’s almost never this way.

God rarely does things the way we expect Him to. He does things the way they need to be done and in a way that we would never have figured out in advance, so we can’t take the credit for it and to build our trust and faith in Him.

So if you’re in a bit of trouble right now, or if you encounter trouble in your future, go ahead and ask God to help you, but don’t expect it to be the way you think it should be.

Not by might nor power, but by His spirit!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-17-14

(Hebrews 10:30 NKJV)  For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The LORD will judge His people.”

When something happens in our lives and we feel hurt, there is only one way to get through it and that one way is to immediately give it to God.

How do we give it to Him? We start by admitting to God that what they did hurt. Let Him know that we are having a hard time letting go of what they did. Ask God to help us to work it out within ourselves so that we can be free from it.

Holding on to what others have done to us is only going to hurt and constantly torment us.

We don’t need to wait and watch for someone to get what we think they deserve before we can let go of the situation. We need to let go of it before it affects us even deeper.

Live your life today. God says vengeance is not ours, but His.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-16-14

Matthew 11:28-29 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Are you heavy laden? Are you burdened with the cares of the world and the things that come against you, relentlessly pounding against you like waves in a storm?

Sometimes we can feel so helpless and powerless to do anything about the battles that we face each day.

But God isn’t powerless. He sent His Son to give us rest. Jesus came so that we could lay our burdens down and find rest in Him.

The battles that we fight here on earth can suck the life from us. They can leave us feeling like we’re finished and can’t move ahead one more inch.

But it’s not over. We’re not finished and we’re not defeated.

Reach out and take hold of Jesus and rest in Him. Draw your strength from Him. Don’t worry right now about what you’re to do next. Just rest and let Him breathe new life into you.

We can never win battles when we are weary. It’s only after we find rest and get our strength again that we can see clearly and move forward.

But for today, rest.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-15-14

(Luke 23:34 NKJV)  Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Jesus set a perfect example for us as to how we should be toward all people; Forgiving.

I used to have an office position. My boss’s father would come in every day. He would come in and tell nasty jokes, using vulgar language, knowing that I didn’t find them humorous at all. And they were very offensive. He would laugh, thinking it was funny.

I used to sit at my desk and cringe every time he would say the Lord’s name in vain. I would let him say what he wanted, and share the nasty jokes and the bad language, but when it came to the Lord’s name in vain I would speak up in a kind way and say to him, “why do you have to use His name that way? He didn’t do anything to hurt you.” He would just glare at me and not say a word.

This went on for years. I was kind to this man, no matter what. I felt compassion for him even though I never saw any change in his behavior. The day came when it was time to move on from that job.

As years went by I heard that this man was in the hospital. Not knowing for sure if he would want me to visit him, I felt I needed to go. So I went to the hospital. There, lying in the bed, he looked old and weak.

As I walked into the room, I jokingly said, “What are you doing here?” He looked up and said to me very seriously, “I’m dying.” I said “you are, huh? And where are you going, Heaven or Hell?” Looking scared, he said, “I don’t know.”

I asked him if he would like to hear a story and he very calmly said, “Yes.” I knew it was my turn to share Jesus Christ. That day, the man who was so haughty, loud, obnoxious and rude to me and my Savior, accepted and received Him into His heart.  He was healed and went home from the hospital and lived many more years.

In order for that man to ever hear me or the story I had to share with him, I had to be able to hear him, to forgive him and pray for him, in spite of the things he did to me.

Forgive them, for they do not know what they do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-14-14

Titus 2:11-12 (NKJV) 11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age…

This is how we portray Christ to the rest of the world.

Our lives speak volumes to the people around us. The way we conduct ourselves and handle the things that we encounter and come up against says a lot about who we are and it will ultimately be a reflection of God to those who know us.

So God teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. We should live soberly, righteously and godly.

As we do these things, we prove to others who God is to us. If we live the way God has commanded us to do, it leaves a lasting impression on those who watch us, leading others to God through our actions and our words.

There is nothing deep or mysterious about this. It’s simple truth, played out each day in our lives.

So let’s remember that as we go through our day, let’s keep ourselves from those things that are ungodly and worldly. We just never know who is watching us and how we impact their lives with the things we do and say.
