Bible Verse of The Day – 8-9-13

(Deuteronomy 4:29 NKJV)  “But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Seek the Lord today for yourself. Find Him. Don’t give up until He touches your heart and blesses you with His Peace, His Love and His Joy.

God can handle whatever we bring to Him. He can take our problems and our troubles and make them a vapor, as we seek Him for the answers. WE don’t have all the answers in this life, but HE does.

Some of us may feel ashamed to come to Him for different reasons. Maybe we feel like we blew it; we had our chance and we didn’t take it. Maybe we feel it’s too late. Don’t let anything or any thoughts get in the way of seeking God.

God is a loving, caring, wonderful, compassionate and forgiving God! We can come to Him no matter what we have done.

Remember the story about the prodigal son? (Luke 15:21-24 NKJV)  “And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ {22} “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. {23} ‘And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; {24} ‘for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.

This son messed up big time, but the key here is that he acknowledged his sin… his shortcomings, and humbled his heart and came home. He came back to his father. This is an example of what God wants us to do; repent and come home, back to Him!!

Is this you? Are you that prodigal child today? Have you done wrong and you want to make things right?

Well, open your heart to God. He is waiting for you to come home and make things right. Seek God with all your heart and He will help you through! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-8-13

1 John 2:28 (NKJV) And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

Today we’d like to bring a very simple, direct, straight-forward word.

Abide in Him.

Abide: To continue in a place

We need to continue in Christ, not wavering in our faith or straying from the path He has set before us.

Over the past two decades we have seen many, many people fall away from God, turning their backs and walking away from Him. Some of these instances happened very quickly and deliberately. Others happened slowly, over a period of time.

One of the biggest common denominators in all of the people we know who walked away from God is that they were the last ones you would ever expect to do such a thing, based on their outward behavior… the way they acted or spoke.

They were very vocal when in a church service, always shouting the loudest amen or worshiping God in what appeared to be a very reverent way.

But when the rubber met the road, trials came or something happened that they couldn’t understand or they didn’t agree with, these were the first to turn and run as far as they could get from God.

So we want to encourage you today; abide in Him. Stand strong in your faith. If you’re struggling with something, get godly counsel. If you have questions, seek answers from people you trust.

Never let your faith grow stagnant. Keep it strong and growing. And always, always run toward God, not away from Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-7-13

(Acts 2:17 NKJV)  ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.

It is not uncommon for God to give us a vision, dream or a word of prophesy. But when He does, let us be sure to wait on Him for the explanation or interpretation.

Some things He shows us may have symbolic meaning, while others may need to be taken literally. When God shows us something, we should never try to figure it out on our own, based on our human intellect or understanding.

(Genesis 41:15-16 NKJV)  And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it.” {16} So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”

This is important to remember, so there will be no confusion, stress, or uneasiness in what God shows us. His answer will bring us PEACE.

The worse thing we can do is ignore our dreams and visions simply because we don’t understand them or because we think they mean something bad. Anything that God shows us is for our own benefit, even if it might not seem like it at the time.

To bring balance to this, know that not all dreams, visions and prophesies are from God.  Be prayerful when receiving them, especially if someone comes to you with what they claim or believe is a prophecy or “a word from God” for you.

God will help us get clarity. In the scripture above He used Joseph to show Pharaoh what his dreams meant. Sometimes He may lead us to someone that can help and sometimes He may just show us Himself, with no one else involved.

Don’t be afraid of dreams… they may be the answer we are looking for or the warning that will save us from danger.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-6-13

(Psalm 25:5 NKJV)  Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.

God does not want us to make mistakes, or doubt Him in any way. He is a God who wants to lead us and help us in every way possible. There have been many times when I thought I was waiting on God, but it turned out He was waiting on ME.

We are all being taught in different areas; some of us are being taught patience, some may be being taught discipline, and others could be learning how to hear or know when God is speaking, etc.

We are all at different levels and in different places in our walk with God. But as long as we remain teachable, we are on the right page.

God will teach us His way as we wait on Him. Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-5-13

(Proverbs 3:9-10 NKJV)  Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; {10} So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

Giving God our first fruits is one way of showing Him honor. It also will cause us to prosper!

Many think that they have to be prospering first before they start giving the first fruits to God. This is the wrong way of thinking and it will keep us always working so hard and never getting ahead, because this in not what prospers us.

There is no trust or faith in thinking we have to wait until we become prosperous and get things in order before we can give God the first fruits.

Today, surrender our ways on how to prosper and let God’s Word teach us and show us His way! He is a faithful God and He means what He says. He will show you, as you take a step of faith, how important it is to honor Him first!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-3-13

Jeremiah 1:5 (NKJV) “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Before I formed you in the womb. These words are much more powerful than we can even begin to realize.

God forms each and every one of us in our mother’s womb. We don’t just happen. We don’t just start from nothing and suddenly appear. God forms each and every one of us, individually, uniquely and with His signature all over us.

We are intricately designed. The science of the human body is truly awe-inspiring and should leave every single one of us speechless when we grasp the incredible wonder of how we are formed.

Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.

We have never included a picture in any of our past Bible Verse of The Day emails, but today we wanted to include this picture to help drive home the point of our message.

Today, as you see yourself in the mirror or as you observe those around you, think about how God has formed each and every one of us in such awesome and incredible detail.

Have an incredibly blessed weekend.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-2-13

(Exodus 20:17 NKJV)  “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

To covet means to wish for or to desire.

Have you ever felt like you wanted to be just like so and so… The way they look, or the way they carry themselves, maybe the way they seem to have everything all together, or even their success?

There’s not necessarily anything wrong with having a role model, or someone to look up to, as long as we don’t get carried away and began to covet what they have or what they’re like.

We can tell the difference in whether we are coveting or just simply admiring, by watching our attitude. If we are coveting something or someone we may feel miserable, disappointed, depressed or angry when we are around the person or thing that we covet.

If we admire something or someone, we will feel hope or excitement and get encouraged by what we see, and learn from them.

Coveting a person, who they are, or what they have can cause us to miss out on all the good things that we have going for us.

If we are coveting anyone or after anything today then we should simply ask God to forgive us and help us to have balance in this area of our life.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-1-13

Philippians 4:11 (NKJV) Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content…

To be content… this is something almost every one of us needs to learn, to one degree or another.

No matter what our situation is, we all seem to long for something else… something more, something bigger or something better.

It is not wrong to want to improve our situation, to make a little more money or to have some nice things.

It is wrong, though, to constantly be dissatisfied. We all need to learn to be content with what we have and where God has us.

Sometimes this might mean doing without some things that we’d like to have. Other times it might mean giving up some things that we already have!

Our own experience has taught us over the years that until we learn to be content with what God has already blessed us with (even when it seems like it’s only a little), He is very unlikely to bless us with anything more.

So let’s count our blessings and be content and learn to appreciate what we have, before we ask for something more.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-31-13

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

Wisdom and understanding.

These two things go hand in hand and, apparently, God deems them as being very important for us to have!

The verse above is one of my favorite in the book of Proverbs because it’s just so straight forward and direct.

God tells us to get wisdom. Why? Because if we have wisdom, we will also have understanding.

God’s wisdom isn’t necessarily the same as human logic, so we shouldn’t confuse the two. God’s wisdom comes from drawing near to Him, growing our relationship with Him and spending time in His word.

God’s wisdom might say right when human intellect says left, and sometimes our minds have a hard time grasping this.

But once we get God’s wisdom, we’ll never see things the same again.

Therefore, get wisdom!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-30-13

(1 Corinthians 3:16 NKJV)  Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

The Spirit of God dwells in us!

To dwell in anything means:  to remain for a time, to live as a resident.

Taking care of our temple is a big part of being a Christian, a child of the most High God. It allows God to remain in us or reside there.

How we take care of our temple determines how much God can do in us and through us. This is where He dwells, not in a church building or any building. He dwells in nothing made by hands.

(Acts 17:24 NKJV)  “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.

It is important to God that we care for ourselves. We need to eat right and exercise, get the rest we need and make sure we even share laughter to help us have a good, healthy, balanced life.

We can not mistreat our temples and expect to be able to do the things He may ask us to do. We have to be ready and alert. We have to be trained and disciplined in all areas. He wants a place to live that is clean and healthy.

Temptation, can come by way of food or drink, lack of exercise, use of bad language, lack of studying or reading God’s word, watching the wrong movies/television shows, listening to music that is demeaning or slanderous to God, or even hanging out with the wrong crowd, etc.

These are some of the ways we can be tempted, causing our temple… our body, soul and spirit to be involved in things that can take us off the path, or destroy our walk or call with God.

These very things can cause stumbling blocks to rise up in front of us, preventing us from becoming all that God wants us to be. They can cause our relationship with Him to be less than what it needs to be in order for us to hear God on a regular basis.

It’s not necessarily one thing more than another that can ruin it for us, but in all these areas we need to be careful. Anything that is not good for our temple, we should steer clear of and not allow the enemy to continue to tempt us into trying even just a little.

Keeping our temple clean is important to God and it should be very important to us as well. These may seem like little things that are not very noticeable to others, but it’s the little foxes that come and steal. (Song of Solomon 2:15 NKJV)  Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-29-13

Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Anxiety. It’s something that a lot of people seem to struggle with these days. We live in a world full of things that can cause us to become anxious, stressed, worried or nervous.

But we are told in God’s word to be anxious for nothing! Anxiety is related to worrying. So what does the Bible say about worrying?

Matthew 6:27 (NKJV) Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

So we need to know and understand that we are not to worry, even though human nature would have us worrying about everything!

Many of us might try to relate anxiety to something that happened to us in our past.

But this is not so much of a psychological problem as it is a spiritual problem. Without getting too deep about it, let us try to explain what this means. The enemy (satan) commands various types of demonic spirits. These different spirits have different tasks. Some cause diseases, some cause division, some cause fear, etc.

Anxiety is, many times, caused by a spirit of fear. Spirits of fear are not from God. They are from the devil, the enemy of our soul. So if it is not from God, we need to know that we don’t have to put up with it or live with it.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

As believers, we have the authority to rebuke these spirits of fear and command them to leave us alone and never come back.

Luke 10:19 (NKJV) Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

You can see in this verse that Jesus told us we have authority over all the power of the enemy. This includes spirits of fear, that cause us to worry or be anxious.

So the next time you start to become anxious, remind yourself that God has not given us a spirit of fear! Rebuke that spirit in the name of Jesus and tell it to leave you alone. And then set your mind on things above, not on things of this earth.

And then rest in God’s peace, knowing that He is on the throne and you are resting in His hands.
