Bible Verse of The Day – 12-13-25

Psalm 34:18 (NKJV) 18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

People hurt.

I’ve seen some painful things in my life. But the one thing that stands out more than any of them is one situation in particular.

It was a regular summer afternoon. As I was taking a nap on my couch, I was awakened by sirens going by our home. As I jumped up, I thought, that’s a bad accident.

A short time later, I got the dreaded phone call. And it brought me to my knees.

It was the most awful accident I had ever heard of. My brother’s child had fallen out of a moving car and not survive.

On a different day at an earlier time, this same brother woke up one morning to find that his child at that time was not breathing. They quickly raced the child to the hospital, but the child was gone. He lost two of his beautiful children.

We might say, how much can a person take? How can they go on living after such terrible pain?

Subsequently, this man has spent a lot of his life in and out of prison. He has never gotten his life together. He struggles with alcohol addiction.

We don’t know what he deals with, but God does.

I’ve learned to not look at a person from the outside, because none of us are perfect and we make bad choices at times, but, to let God show me their heart.

I am praying for people today that hurt. I don’t know what you’ve been through, but God does.

Don’t give up. Stay in the fight. He will help heal your broken heart.

Dear God,

I lift up that one today who is broken, crushed, hurting, and can’t find a reason to keep on living. That one who is so full of guilt and shame. That one who is feeling like there is no hope left. Touch them with your hand, and heal their brokenness.

Help them, Lord, to know that You are near.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-12-25

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

There are times when God allows hard times to come upon us. Yes, He allows them.

The word of God tells us that Job was an upright man.

Job 1:1 (NKJV) 1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.

Not only was he upright, but he was blameless. And he feared God.

Job was a man of integrity who cared for his family and possessions. And he turned away from evil.

So, if he was an upright man how could such terrible events have been allowed to happen to him?

Job 1:12 (NKJV) 12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.”

But God did allow satan to touch his possessions. And eventually, He also gave permission to touch his body and his family. Job lost everything he held dear.

Job being blameless, upright, and a God-fearing, faithful man did not exempt him from trials and tragedy in his life.

We need to understand that even as faithful believers we may still face very hard situations; times of struggles and suffering.

And we need to know that we don’t have any special privileges that prevent tribulations from befalling us because we are God’s child.

We cannot let fake, hyped-up preachers come along and fill our heads with lies.

What lesson can we learn from Job’s experience?

In summary, we will see that suffering isn’t necessarily a punishment. In fact, it may very well be a time of testing.

Even during suffering, we should not give up hope.

We must trust that He will be there to help us through it all and show us what it is we need to learn from what we are going through.

It is important to remain humble so that we are teachable, especially during these moments.

Even though God allowed Job to go through this, Job stood strong in His faith. He never abandoned his faith in God, nor did he grow bitter toward God.

He allowed God to teach Him and show Him his heart.

And in this, Job learned some very valuable lessons that strengthened his faith and softened his heart.

Let us not get so caught up in our trials that we lose sight of what we may glean from them. God is faithful, even in our toughest times, to hold us up, teach us, and strengthen us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-11-25

James 1:15 (LSB) 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully matured, it brings forth death.

By now we have firmly established the fact that if we perpetually wrestle with the same sins, and we cannot seem to break free of them, it is because our own desires (lusts) cause us to be repeatedly lured in and defeated.

James 1:15, above, clearly states that when this happens, the desires within us give birth to sin. And when that sin is fully matured (continually practiced or engaged in), it leads to death.

This is very plainly spoken. There is no wiggle room here.

As mentioned in the previous days of this series, there is one way to defeat this pattern of sin; complete surrender to God.

Now that we fully understand the root of our sin problem (our own lusts and desires), we can take the steps necessary to defeat it.

Now, let’s be clear that this is not a 12-step program. It is not self-help. It is not psychological therapy.

It is Holy Spirit-powered cleansing of ourselves that will deliver us and set us free from bondage to these kinds of sins.

It is ONLY by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can be set free.

Nothing else will work. And even the Holy Spirit cannot help us if we fail or refuse to submit, surrender, and allow God to purge us of the evil that lurks in us.

Please listen. This is a matter of LIFE or DEATH.

If you are plagued by this problem in your life, your eternal soul is at stake. Your relationships are at stake. Everything about your life is at stake.

Submit yourself wholly to God and let Him set you free.

No, it won’t just effortlessly happen. Yes, it will require work on your part, consisting of determination, perseverance, and the willingness to obey God and walk away from opportunities to sin.

And it will require you to resist the devil. For in doing so, he will flee from you.

But remember that in all this, God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. And in that blessing will come deliverance.

James 1:12 (NLT) 12 God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.

Father, I ask you to bless these words and let them penetrate the hearts of those in need of hearing this message of truth and freedom. And I ask that you bring conviction where it is needed, hope and encouragement where they are needed. And bring freedom to burdened souls in the name of Jesus.

Amen 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-10-25

Romans 12:1 (LSB) 1 Therefore I exhort you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice—living, holy, and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

It is only when we wholly surrender to God, allowing Him to cleanse us and change our heart, that we can fend off the wiles of the enemy and refuse to sin instead of falling to it repeatedly.

You see, it is our own ungodly desires that cause us to fall.

There is no one we can blame. We must bear responsibility for our failures.

Yes, some are weaker than others in these things. But there is no sin too big for the blood of Christ to deliver us from.

The things that we leave unsurrendered within us will haunt us and cause us to fall repeatedly until we wholly surrender to God in every aspect of our lives.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Complete surrender to God is the key. We cannot submit partially to God and expect Him to cleanse us completely.

He does not forego our own will. He works with what we give Him.

If we want our whole self to be cleansed and free from the burden of the perpetual sin, we must surrender our whole self to Him and give Him permission to rid us of the sinful desires in our heart.

We cannot love sin and expect to defeat it. And it is in surrendering our hearts to Him that we begin to hate the sin that besieges us and learn to love Him instead. That love for Him leads us to repentance and wanting ourselves clean before Him in every aspect of our lives.

Remember, Christ paid the highest possible price for us. He gave His life. There is nothing more that He could have done.

We owe it to Him to honor His sacrifice for us by presenting ourselves as a living sacrifice, which is our reasonable service and act of worship.

Let’s wrap this up tomorrow where we will tie this all together in conclusion.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-9-25

James 1:14 (LSB) 14 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully matured, it brings forth death.

After what we discussed yesterday, let’s get down to the meat of this topic and discuss what the source of our sin failure really is. This will make it easier to understand how to defeat that sin pattern in our lives that repeatedly continues to knock us down.

Now, this is where it can get a bit tricky, because what I’m about to share may offend some people.

But what I am about to say is 100% backed by scripture, so let’s take it at face value so we can learn everything we can from it.

The big question that we all need to ask is, where does our failure against temptation come from?

What is the source of our propensity to fail when confronted with temptation?

It is our own self.

So, now that this truth is on the table, let’s talk about it.

Yesterday’s devotional was based on James 1:13, which tells us plainly that temptation never comes from God.

If that’s the case, then where does our temptation come from?

The devil, our enemy, is referred to as “the tempter”. He is the one who tempts us.

But why do we succumb to temptation and fall into sin?

Because of the lusts and desires that are within us.

Yes, we are our own worst enemy.

We are not the source of temptation, but we are the source of our failure to successfully combat those temptations.

Join us again tomorrow as we lay out what is required to win this battle once and for all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-8-25

James 1:13 (LSB) 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.

Humanity has a sin problem.

The perpetual wrestling match between man and sin has been happening since the beginning of time.

Temptation comes to everyone. Not one of us is exempt.

But each of us handles it differently.

Some seem to fall easily, never reaching a point in their lives where they can stand in the face of temptation and defeat it. They fall repeatedly.

But others defeat it more frequently. And to outsiders watching from a distance, it may seem that these people have it all together because they seemingly never fall.

Why is that?

To be brutally honest, those who cave in to temptation less frequently have learned how to walk away from sin.

Does this mean they are better people?

No. It means they have come to understand what it is that causes them to sin. And they have surrendered that part of themselves to God. They have allowed Him to teach them how to turn and walk away.

They have given Him their loyalty, their allegiance, their whole heart. And they have allowed Him to mold them, shape them, and train them in the ways of righteous living.

And though this may appear from the outside to be easy, it is not, especially in the beginning.

It is a lifelong endeavor that requires dedication, purposeful surrender, and wholehearted loyalty to God.

Anything less than full, unconditional surrender will result in failure.

This is something that we all need to learn and understand more fully.

So, let’s talk more tomorrow.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-6-25

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Because we live in the world, it will take up much of our time if we don’t set the boundaries. Without those boundaries, the time we spend “trying to seek God” or being with Him will be next to nothing.

Seeking God and His righteousness first will bring a sense of stability and peace. Why? Because as we obey God with this verse, He promises us that all these things shall be added to us.

How do we seek Him? Through prayer, reading His word, and praise and worship.

Let’s talk about what happens when we spend time with God in prayer, in His word, and when we praise and worship Him.

It’s through prayer we can approach Him; He will give us guidance and provision as we cry out to Him.

Praying causes our faith to become stronger. It helps us to do things we never thought we could do as we learn through answered prayers how to trust Him more.

Praying will help us if we have anxiety. It actually causes worrying to subside because our faith grows as we spend time with Him.

Most importantly, prayer helps us build and strengthen our relationship with God.

Reading God’s word is just as crucial.

It will help us to grow spiritually, gain wisdom, and it provides us with comfort. These things strengthen us.

His word guides us in our daily lives, helping us to make right choices.

Reading God’s word also helps sharpen our discernment.

It brings peace and gives us much hope.

Praising and worshiping Him will draw us into His presence. And we will feel our burdens lifted as we surrender and we melt into His arms.

God is faithful to show up. And oh, what a difference it will make in our daily activities.

Call time out today. Seek after Him, and watch how things will change!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-5-25

Colossians 3:17 (LSB) 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

With the depth and mystery that is the word of God, sometimes we need to take time to recognize the simpler things.

The simplicity of the statement in this verse is often lost to us, so let’s remember it today.

Whether we are carrying out our daily routines, working for our employer, interacting with people in the various places we pass through over the course of the day, or simply passing by someone on a road or highway, let us do it all in a way that brings glory and honor to our God, and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Let us remember Who we serve, and Who we represent as we live our lives.

And let us also be thankful to Him in all that we do, recognizing His provision and His sovereignty in everything.

Without Him, we can do nothing.

But with God, all things are possible 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-4-25

Colossians 3:12 (LSB) 12 So, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience;

Paul says here to “put on” these particular attributes.

Just as we get dressed in the morning, and prepare for the day ahead, we must also walk in these things that Paul talks about.

These virtues and moral qualities must be readily activated in us.

We should not leave home without being prepared to act with compassion toward others. Make sure our antennas are alert and on guard to show kindness.

Be willing to walk in humility. Let gentleness guide our responses.

And let us not forget to be patient toward others.

That one, oh boy, we must make sure we step back and breathe before we say or do something we regret.

Being patient takes a lot of discipline. But it is well worth every bit of effort that it takes to exercise and strengthen that muscle within us.

Now, how do we get dressed as a believer?

We prepare ourselves by asking the Holy Spirit to help us walk in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, keeping them dear to our hearts.

Even if other aspects of our day don’t go as planned, let us remain steadfast and immovable as we walk in His character; our labor is not in vain, but abounding in the work of the Lord!

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV) 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-3-25

John 14:6 (LSB) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.

In all the varied messages we hear throughout our lifetimes, there is one thing that we need to remember.

Jesus is the ONLY way.

We may hear different messages across many denominations, religions, philosophies, etc. Some of them may claim that there are many ways to have a relationship with God and enter into heaven.

But Jesus shattered these false statements when He spoke the words above.

There is ONE way to the Father. And He is that way.

It is never Jesus plus anything. It is never Jesus alongside manmade ideas. It is never Jesus and anyone.

It is JESUS only, for eternity.

Jesus shed His blood for the sins of man.

Through Jesus the worlds were created.

And by faith in Jesus, we are redeemed and washed clean, made new creations.

So be careful that no one ever convinces you otherwise. And if they try, turn and walk away.

There is, and will always be, One Way; Jesus.
