Bible Verse of The Day – 7-1-23

Job 26:11-13 (NKJV) 11 The pillars of heaven tremble, And are astonished at His rebuke. 12 He stirs up the sea with His power, And by His understanding He breaks up the storm. 13 By His Spirit He adorned the heavens; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.

The power and sovereignty of God is far beyond our human comprehension.

His ways confound even the wisest of us.

Who can truly know Him at His deepest depths?

Our eyes see the wonder of His works; the sun, the clouds, the trees, the butterflies, the birds, the flowers and so much more!

Our ears take in the sounds of His creation; birds singing, the waves crashing on the shore, the brooks babbling in the forest, the rivers as the water roars across rocks, creating rapids more powerful than we can comprehend.

Our nose breathes in the fragrances that are sweet to our senses; flowers blooming, the salt of the sea, the smell of freshly-plowed earth.

And all of this was created by Him, spoken into being by His words.

No matter what we might be facing right now, let us never forget Who we belong to, Who holds our heartbeat in His hands, and Who breathed the breath of life into our lungs.

And let us never forget to give Him thanks and praise.

Why? Because He alone is worthy!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-30-23

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

As we walk in this world, there is a choice we need to make.

That choice is this; will we conform to the world, or will we allow God to transform us?

On the surface, this seems like a very easy question to answer. Most of us would quickly say that we want to be who God wants us to be, allowing Him to transform us.

While this sounds great, how well do we follow through on it?

This can be a hard question to answer because we need a point of reference to look at.

We need a way to compare ourselves to the world, and a way to compare our new, born-again self to our old self.

First, we need to look at who we were before we turned our lives over to God.

Do we still have all the same habits that we had before? Do we behave the same way we used to behave? Do we speak the same way we used to speak?

Have we allowed God to change those things in us that were not pleasing to Him?

Second, we need to look at the world around us and see how we stack up with the world’s behavior.

Do we behave like the world? Do we have the same habits as the world? Do we dress the way the world dresses? Do we watch and listen to the same things as the world? Do we speak the same way the world speaks?

There are lots of ways in which we could compare ourselves to the world. Each one may be a bit different for each of us.

But here’s a little tip that might help us see where we really stand in this; are we following the trends of the world in many areas of life?

Do we wear the latest fashions, even if they might be less than modest?

Do we adopt the language of the world, even if it’s not righteous?

Do we drink or partake of things that the world partakes in, even if God’s word speaks directly against them?

These are just a few examples of things that we can examine in our own lives that will help us see where we stand on this very important topic.

It can be very easy to just follow the crowd, simply allowing ourselves to be swept downstream with them.

We need to remember, though, that Jesus showed us how not to follow the crowd, but to swim against the current instead.

Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV) 13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-29-23

Matthew 6:14 (NKJV) 14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

For if we forgive men.

I never realized how many times in a day our heart could be affected by what others say or do toward us.

One day I received a phone call. On the other end was an angry person. Not angry with me, but pretty much themselves and any one that got in their way that day.

I heard things that were hard to listen to. Some were words of blaspheme and others were just awful vulgarity. Etc. It was challenging for me to sit and hear them out, while they were slandering everything and everyone.

After I got off the phone, I got on my knees to pray for this person and in my heart, I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to forgive them.

I had no idea, however, apparently my heart was offended without my knowledge. And eventually would have caused some hardness to set in toward this person.

You see, we don’t always know when our heart is offended or tainted. Unforgiveness can sneak in and get a grip.

Sometimes we may overlook this step in our prayer time, thinking we are fine. Maybe we are so concerned and focused on helping others and what they are dealing with. But it is important that we understand that God forgives our sin, as we forgive others who have sinned against us. It is an action we must take, before God will forgive us.

Matthew 6:15 (NKJV) 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

To make sure we are not holding any unforgiveness, we must let the Holy Spirit guide us in this. He will be sure to prompt us if we are open to Him. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-28-23

Daniel 1:8 (NKJV) 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

I have pondered on Daniel and his life quite a lot over the last couple years.

The situation he was in is one that I contemplate frequently, especially considering today’s situation in the world.

I have conversed with God about this many times; what if the nation I live in was completely taken over by a tyrannical government that banned the worship of the one true God?

My question isn’t about whether I would deny God or not. I know the answer to that. It is an unequivocal, “no”.

I would not deny God.

But would I be able to do as Daniel did, serving an evil king with excellence while holding back the words I would like to say about truth, righteousness and God’s judgement?

Daniel was an incredible man of God. He had wisdom and discernment that came to him by the Spirit of God. But Daniel had to be disciplined and wise enough to heed what the Holy Spirit showed him and told him to do or not to do.

Daniel’s convictions were so strong that he chose to disobey the king’s decree very early on in his tenure as a servant to that king.

And yet, through his disobedience, God moved.

This isn’t to say that disobedience is what caused God to move. It wasn’t.

It was why Daniel disobeyed that caused God to move on his behalf; he stood for what was right and true, and did it in a way that didn’t involve him making accusations against the king about other observations that he had made.

In other words, Daniel stayed on topic with his actions and didn’t go on to expound on the many evils that he saw in the king or his kingdom.

So, how would we act or behave in this same situation?

Would we heed the promptings and leading of the Holy Spirit, allowing ourselves to be used by God to bring about His justice, His honor and His glory before the eyes of a pagan king, eventually leading to his faith in God?

Or would we follow our own flesh and emotions, speaking when we should be silent, and acting when we should quietly submit, never allowing God to use us as He wanted to do?

Something for us to seriously ponder on.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-27-23

Philippians 4:11 (NKJV) 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

Having a content heart is the best feeling ever!

A content heart comes when we trust God at His word. In order to trust God at His word, we have to know what He is saying regarding our situation.

How do we know what God is saying about our situation?

We have to listen and pay attention to His word, His signs and His promptings that He will give us. No matter what circumstance we face, He will guide us in each of them.

Some people get tired of waiting on God; they get impatient and start to do their own thing. Others don’t have the faith to take the steps that are necessary.

But the heart that knows He is in our midst, that heart will wait! That heart will obey! And will receive the goodness of God! Hallelujah!

He will lead us into victory every time, children of God. The Mighty One will save.

We must know that sometimes it may not be the way we thought it would be or the kind of victory we wanted. But it will be good for us nonetheless.

This trust is what brings us contentment and peace no matter where we are in our walk with God.

We need to follow Him all the way. He will quiet us with His love and rejoice over us with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV) 17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Be content today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-26-23

Luke 9:23 (NKJV) 23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

The world is a funny place.

It will tell us lots of things to make us feel good about ourselves.

It will say that we are number one, and that we should put ourselves before anyone or anything else.

It will tell us that we’re special, and that how we feel is what matters. Everything else is secondary.

It will tell us that our feelings about ourself are important, that our self-esteem should be high so we don’t get down about our lives.

It will tell us so much more, and it all revolves around making us the center of our own lives.

Much of this has spilled over into the church. Even some pastors are repeating these things. Some might even give it a “Christian twist” to make it more palatable and appealing to followers of Christ.

But Jesus seems to have something different to say about it; “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself”.

That is a far cry from putting ourselves front and center at every possible opportunity.

Christianity isn’t supposed to be like icing on a cake… always sweet and pleasant. It will have its moments and seasons when it is very sweet. But it is not always that way.

There are things that we may have to face, and some things that we may have to endure, if we are to walk this walk as a child of God.

This doesn’t mean that our lives will always be gloom and doom, cloudy and dark. Walking with God has many, many blessings. And our joy is found in Him!

But we must live our lives knowing that there will be times when our faith costs us. And we should be willing to pay the price, no matter what that price is.

This is part of being a mature believer; a believer with Holy Spirit-inspired understanding and the willingness to sacrifice our own preferences, comfort and wants if God places us in situations that require us to.

And as we do this, as we walk this straight and narrow path, let us find our joy in knowing that He is worth every sacrifice we have to make, every trial we must endure and every hard battle that we have to fight.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-24-23

Psalm 27:13 (NKJV) 13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

How hard is it right now to remember the goodness of God?

With all the hardship and changes we see happening, it’s hard for us to reflect on how good it was just a short time ago. I can attest to that.

It’s hard sometimes to feel God’s presence in this messy state of the world right now. It’s hard to hear Him with the atmosphere being so full of demonic oppression.

But don’t lose heart!

Depression tries to come in and causes spiritual blindness. This can cause us to focus only on the difficulties we face every day.

This can cause us to forget the love that He has for us.

But we can’t let that happen.

Let His Spirit rise up on the inside, shaking off the weight of our sadness, and reminding us that He dwells within our hearts; not in what we see happening or in how we feel.

His goodness is an act of love that He did for us personally. While we were still sinners, He demonstrated His goodness by showing us how much He loved us.

Romans 5:8 (NKVJ) 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Don’t stop loving each other. Carry out this love even through hardship.

Love and keep loving. His goodness is alive in us and runs through our veins.

Come alive, children of God!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-23-23

2 Chronicles 15:15 (NLT) 15 All in Judah were happy about this covenant, for they had entered into it with all their heart. They earnestly sought after God, and they found Him. And the Lord gave them rest from their enemies on every side.

God is a good God.

He honors those who honor Him.

He gives rest and peace to those who earnestly follow Him and His ways.

The verse above states that all of Judah sought Him earnestly, and they found Him.

And God gave them rest from their enemies.

Yes, there may be seasons of chastening when we disobey and drift from Him. This is to be expected.

Why?

Because God is a good Father.

Children need discipline. And fathers who love their children aren’t afraid to chasten them when they need it.

But He also rewards us when we honor and obey Him.

For Judah, they experienced a period of rest from their enemies on all sides.

This was a big deal for them, since Judah was constantly under attack from neighboring nations.

For us, the first “reward” God gives us is salvation in Christ when we repent and accept His gift of redemption.

This is the greatest gift of all.

Not only are our sins forgiven, but our name is written in the Lamb’s book of life, giving us eternal life with Him.

Let us honor Him in all that we do, seeking Him earnestly each day, pursuing Him relentlessly, drawing near to Him, that He might also draw near to us.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-22-23

1 Corinthians 6:18-19 (NKJV) 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

What is one thing that can keep millions of people from entering heaven?

Fornication. It is sex between two unmarried people. A sin against our body, the temple of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

We are not our own.

Sexual immorality is a lifestyle in today’s world.

Oh yes, people think its OK to live together and have sex without being married. Fornication is a big problem even in the lives of believers today.

The Bible’s message warning against fornication has definitely been watered down, and we have become desensitized to it.

It is not something we should take lightly.

When two people are living together outside of marriage, this is not even close to the same things as being committed or joined together as one in marriage.

Some people say, “well, I’ve been with so-and-so for many years”.

If you have not been joined together under God in matrimony, it means nothing.

Living together and having sex like a married couple, despite not being married, does not equate to being married. Anyone doing this is a fornicator. It doesn’t count as a marriage.

You are in the same category as the unrighteous.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NKJV) 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

It is very important as a believer to understand that having sex outside of marriage is fornication and that fornicators will not enter the kingdom of heaven, unless they repent, make it right with God, and change their lifestyle.

Just because something is commonly accepted in today’s world, it does not make it right in God’s eyes.

If you are His child, make things right. Don’t be having sex unless you are married. And if your person will not marry you, then get out of the relationship. It’s as simple as that.

Your eternal life depends on you making the right choice for you.

If you need someone to do a marriage ceremony for you, we are willing to do it for you.

You don’t need a fancy wedding with a big crowd. You don’t need to spend a lot of money.

Just help us get there and give us a little of your time, and we will get it done.

May God help you make the right decision today. Amen.
