Category: Letting God Lead You

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-18

Psalm 31:3 (NKJV) 3 For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me.

Becoming a Christian happens when we truly believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah, and that He came to save us from our sins.

His death on the cross was for one purpose; to save us from our sinful nature. He made it possible for us to have a relationship with God, His Father, and live eternal life in Heaven. Praise be to God!!

Walking daily with Jesus is different than life was without Him. After we become a Christian, we have to decide to allow our relationship with Him to grow deeper. This happens when we open ourselves up to the Holy Spirit, our Helper, and allow Him to come and help guide us each day. He guides us in our prayers and He helps us keep our eyes open and be discerning. This keeps us alert.

Mark 14:38 (NKJV) 38 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

You know how much more we can see when we yield to the Holy Spirit? He has a way of clearing our vision when we yield our eyes and ears to Him. Things get done when we walk by the Spirit, versus walking by the flesh. The verse above says that our flesh is weak. And this is very true.

The flesh is full of itself, and it has no room for anything or anyone else. It’s selfish. It will make decisions based on what it wants, putting itself first and above everything else.

The Spirit is out to help us in any way He can. His agenda is to fix things and make them right. With Him we are quick to discern right from wrong.

Sometimes we don’t have a lot of time to make a decision. It needs to be made quickly, accurately and in that moment. The Holy Spirit will guide us in making the right move.

Our walk is so much more complete when we give Him room to help.

John 14:16 (NKJV) 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-27-17

John 15:4 (NKJV) 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

Do we ever find ourselves looking at our lives and wondering why nothing ever changes, or why we can’t seem to get to where we want to be in life?

Many times, we can trace this directly back to our walk with God.

You see, as we learn to put our walk with God first, and we put into practice what He teaches us, our lives will begin to change, a little at a time.

As we get our priorities straight and we begin to get understanding about who He wants us to be, we will begin to change the way we do things. And this will lead to godly changes in our lives.

Our attitude will change because our outlook on life changes. We begin to see things through a different set of eyes as we allow Him to have precedence in everything we do.

In turn, this will bring about the change that we feel like we’re so often missing.

It’s not about just wanting to change. Many people want to change. But unless we put wheels under that desire, and we actually do something about it, we will never see change come.

Above, Jesus said that without Him we can bear no fruit. In John 15:5, He says that without Him we can do nothing. So maybe it would be a good idea for us to listen to what He says and apply it to our lives if we truly want to see things happen for the better.

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

So, what does this mean?

It means that we get a good grasp on the fact that without Him, we can do nothing. And then we start putting Him first in everything we do. We do this without a motive. We do it without looking for something in return.

We do it because we love Him and we want to honor Him with our lives. And we do it because it is what He has told us to do. We lay all of our preconceived ideas aside and let Him lead us in each step we take.

We spend time in His word. We let it become our food each day. We get it in us and we let it nourish us and strengthen us.

We talk with Him and we listen to what He says to us. We follow His leading each and every day.

Then, we watch in awe as our lives begin to change.

And we give Him the glory and honor He deserves for everything that He does in our lives.

It isn’t always easy. It takes effort on our part. It won’t happen overnight. It takes time.

But it’s worth every bit of time and effort that is required. And our lives will be forever changed if we are diligent and faithful in it.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-31-17

Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.

In the middle of a trying season in our lives, we sat down to pray. We really had no direction at this particular time. We cried out to the ONE that we knew was our only hope. And we trusted He would show us the answer.

Sometimes not knowing what to do may seem better to us, rather than getting God’s answer. This is especially true if the answer is something we have never done before or bigger than what we think we can do. Maybe this is why sometimes we don’t ask God? Because we’re afraid of His answer.

When God gave us His answer, we looked at our situation and realized it was something that was impossible to do at that time. Despite the situation we were in, we did say yes to Him.

And we agreed, that however He chose to do it, we were OK with it. We would wait on the timing and the steps.

As we waited, we continued to do what we knew we could do and God made the rest happen.

In the areas where we could not see how to do it or how it could possibly happen, He did it.

We look back now and think, “boy, are we glad we didn’t let our “not knowing” cause us to be stuck where we were”.

In the situation you’re facing today, ask God for direction. Ask Him for the answer. He will hear your prayer and direct your steps.

Psalm 4:1 (NKJV) 1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-15-16

Psalm 16:8 (NKJV) 8 I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

The best way to be sure we make the right decisions each day is to be prayerful and not jump into things quickly.

There are times when we may feel like we have to make a huge change in our lives. For instance, we need to relocate, change jobs or even start a completely NEW career.

Maybe we feel a strong desire to get married, or maybe we feel like God is calling us to do some kind of ministry work. These are examples of a few of the kinds of changes that will affect us hugely.

These types of decisions can really change our life and the direction of it, and they require that we make sure we’re setting the Lord before us.

David knew Who he needed to have at his right hand in order to keep him going down the right path.

If we are contemplating taking a big step or making a major change, we need to let God go before us. Let Him guide our steps and show us what it is that He has for us.

Let the Lord be at our right hand. He is faithful!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-30-15

Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV) 17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Looking back at some of the things we have faced in the recent past, we can clearly see that God had to deprogram us from some of our behavior patterns. He had to change our thinking in order to get us out of the situation we were in and bring us to the place He wanted us to be in, regarding the way we thought and the way we did things.

To Deprogram means to dissuade or try to dissuade from strongly held convictions (as of a religious nature) or a firmly established or innate behavior pattern.

It wasn’t that we were involved in anything terrible or unusual. But in our everyday lives, we were used to doing things a certain way, and He wanted to change that. For us, it was specific to our finances.

Some things were very hard for us to change because we thought we had it all figured out. We thought that what we were doing was right.

But we learned to let God have His way, even if we thought we knew how to do it on our own. And as God brought us through some things, we could clearly see that God wanted to do things differently than the natural mind would ever think or imagine.

When we receive Jesus into our lives, we are not alone and we are not on our own. He is in our midst. He is the Mighty One who saves!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-5-15

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV) 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

It’s important to give God time, space and a PLACE in our everyday walk with Him.

We serve an awesome God! His plans and thoughts for us are more then we could ever imagine.

He is full of good, great and mighty ideas for us, beyond what we could ever think of.

We need to surrender our thoughts and our plans to Him and let Him take us places we have never been before.

Let us walk together in His greatness. He is good!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-18-14

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Life is a funny thing. No matter how hard we try, we will never figure it out completely.

We can be cruising through it, thinking everything is perfect and then, suddenly out of nowhere, we get blindsided and everything is turned upside down. And we have no idea why.

Or maybe nothing tragic or catastrophic has happened, but we’re just trying to find our way through and figure some things out. You know, just the normal everyday stuff.

Well, either way, whether we’re in the midst of a crisis or just working our way through everyday life, we need to know that we don’t always have to understand everything or have it all figured out.

God moves on our behalf in ways that we would never think of. He isn’t stuck in a box, even though we try to stuff Him in there most of the time.

When God moves, He does what He sees fit to do, not what we think He should do. And even if we might have a situation that’s similar to something we went through in the past, God won’t necessarily do the same thing to help us this time that He did last time.

So if things aren’t making sense to you, or if you need a solution to a problem you’re currently having, trust God to work it out for you. Untie His hands and let Him move on your behalf.

It can be hard to take our hands off of things when we’re in the middle of a situation or crisis. Our minds just naturally want to try to figure everything out. But let’s learn to trust God and not lean on our own understanding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-6-14

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

On our own, we might be able to accomplish some things. We might be able to use our brain power to reach some goals. This isn’t an insult to Christ. It’s a testament to the human brain, which God created and blessed us with.

But on our own we are limited. We are limited to the finite capabilities of that same human mind. We are limited to our own understanding of things. And when we compare that to the wisdom and understanding of God, we are very limited!

But with Christ, the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit and the anointing of God, we can do anything that God directs us to do.

Notice I didn’t say anything that we set our minds to? That’s because our minds are limited, but God isn’t. With God leading us, through Christ, we can do anything.

We can accomplish things in our lives that we would never imagine possible. We can even accomplish things that we never even thought we would be doing!

Once God plants a seed in us to perform a specific task or do a certain job for Him, as long as we follow His plan, we can accomplish it and fulfill His desires for our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-29-14

(Psalm 16:8-9 NKJV)  I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. {9} Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.

It’s a good idea to set the Lord before us and follow Him. Setting the Lord before us shows Him that we trust in Him and His way for us each day.

I remember I was in a church service one night, and while as I was sitting there I had a vision. In that vision, the minister that was speaking at this church was way out in front of the Lord. I thought to myself “what is that about?”.

After listening to the minster speak a bit, I soon realized what God was showing me. This minister was just as God showed me. They were doing their own thing. They were running with their own agenda, but claiming to be moving in the name of the Lord.

This minister may not have even been aware of this, and this happens a lot because it can be easy to get caught up in doing things for God instead of WITH God.

Let me explain; we do not want to be doing God’s work without Him leading the way for us. We should never be out in front of Him.

We should set the Lord before us always.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-24-14

Proverbs 3:5-6 (New King James Version) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Our own understanding can sometimes be the biggest source of frustration!

Our heads think one way, but the spirit of God can, many times, lead us in directions that our head can’t make sense of.

But take a close look at the verse above. It tells us that if we trust in God with all our heart and we don’t lean on our own understanding, and we acknowledge God in everything, He will direct our paths!

When we pull back from always trying to make sense of everything and trying to figure it all out, and we really trust God, that’s very often when we will see things start to happen for us. And then things will start to make sense to us!

This can be hard to get used to, but once we get it, it can make our lives so much easier.

So trust Him with all your heart, don’t try to figure it all out, acknowledge Him in everything and let Him direct your path.

God will take care of the rest!
