Bible Verse of The Day – 1-8-13

(Revelation 3:15-16 NKJV)  “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. {16} “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth“.

Being lukewarm is never a good thing. Whether it’s in the natural or spiritually, being hot or cold is always preferred.

There are so many implications in these verses. Some are very straight forward, while others are symbolic. Either way, though, God makes it pretty clear that he wants us to be either hot or cold, but not in between.

Being in between is kind of like being gray, similar to saying that some sin is OK and some sin isn’t. Again, God is very clear that sin is sin and none of it is OK with Him.

We need to always be “checking our temperature”. Our walk with God should never be forced, but it does require effort on our part. If we feel that we aren’t as close to God as we once were, it’s a good idea to figure out why.

Most times, if we are further away from God than we were at some point in the past, it’s usually due to one of two things; sin in our lives, or complacency.

The sin doesn’t always have to be something terrible. It can be something we have done, or even something we haven’t done, such as not forgiving someone for something.

Complacency can also creep in and cause us to drift from God. A little deliberate effort to “get back on the path” will help a lot in this situation.

How hot is your flame burning for God? Let’s let God take our temperature today and show us where we’re at with Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-7-13

(John 15:5 NKJV)  “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

How do we know that a minister, teacher, evangelist, etc. are good and that their ministry lines up properly with the word of God? We look at the fruit that comes fourth. If he or she is abiding in Christ, it will show.

Now, we all know that no one is perfect, therefore there will be mistakes made at times, even in leadership. Leaders are human. What is important to watch for is that they make an effort to correct their mistakes. This will be the difference between someone truly abiding in Christ and someone just using God’s name for their own gain.

Those who are not abiding in Christ are doing nothing more than practicing empty religion. These types of people love the scriptures and they can often quote quite a bit of what the Word says. They have head knowledge, but what they lack is the heart to heart, one on one relationship with Jesus Christ himself. Therefore their fruit may look good on the outside but when biting into it, it’s quite sour.

So always be sure to look for the fruit… good fruit!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-5-13

(Phil 4:13 NKJV)  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

We are not weak, useless or anything similar. We are the children of The Most High God!

We are all facing trials of one kind or another. Some of us are facing very tough financial trials. Some are facing very big relationship trials. Other people are fighting for their lives in a battle against some kind of sickness, disease of physical injury or ailment.

The number and types of trials that many of us are facing is very big. But our God is bigger!

We have not been told to take care of things by our own strength. We have been told to lean on Him and trust in Him, because in Him we can do all things!

As you face your trial, possibly even the biggest trial of your life, don’t back down and don’t give up hope. Know that in Christ Jesus you can do all things.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-4-13

(Luke 7:28 NKJV)  “For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

This verse tells us how God feels toward us. God is not partial to how much we have done, how much we know, how much we give, how many titles we have in front of or after our name, what bible school we attended, what denomination we are involved with or how much money we have in the bank.

This scripture tells us how great John was as a prophet. Jesus knew John and the things he had done, but it did not make John any greater than another.

It’s a great blessing to be walking in the call of God and giving Him our all, but we need to be careful not to let it go to our heads. Be careful not to let pride sneak in, causing us to think we are the elite group or PERSON.

This is what religion will do to us if we are not careful, causing us to do more harm to the Bride of Christ than good. Relationship with Christ, not religion, will keep us humble.

Continue to shine and let God lead you each day, remaining humble and on fire for HIM!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-3-13

(John 17:17 NKJV)  “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

We are sanctified by His truth. God’s truth cleans us and sets us free from sin.

That truth is His word. Taking His word into ourselves helps us to see and understand things more clearly.

God’s word isn’t something that we can consume just once and get the full benefits of! We need to get it into ourselves over and over again, a little at a time, until we are full and overflowing.

Whatever we are full of will flow out of us. If we fill ourselves with darkness, darkness will flow out. If we fill ourselves with light, light will flow out!

The truth of God’s word gives us life everlasting, and gives it abundantly.

Are we letting God sanctify us by His word? Are we letting His word wash over us and bring us His light?

There is nothing better in this world than God’s word. Cherish it, study it and live it out.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-2-13

(Deuteronomy 6:5 NKJV)  “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

As we’ve now passed into a new year, 2013, there will be millions upon millions of people who have made “resolutions” for the new year, to do this or that. Most New Year’s resolutions aren’t worth the effort it takes to make them, even though some of them are well-intentioned.

The problem is that these resolutions really carry no weight. This is simply because the resolution is made only in a person’s mind. It is not a vow or contract with anyone who gives the person any accountability. And within a few days or a few weeks, most of these resolutions have fallen by the wayside.

But there is something that each and every one of us should vow to do this year. This is not a resolution, but a vow that we should make, in our hearts, toward God himself.

We should vow to love God more than last year. Each day that we wake up and have breath in our bodies we should make more effort to know God, honor, revere and love Him.

This is not something to take lightly. This is the very substance of who He wants us to be and how He wants us to live each day of our lives.

So as we now move into this year of 2013, determine within yourself and then speak it to God so He will hold you accountable, to love Him more than you ever have.

Bible verse of The Day – 1-1-13

(Ecclesiastes 3:14 NKJV)  I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.

Things come and go in our lives. Jobs, family, friends, etc., there is always going to be change. But one thing we can rest assured in is God and His Mightiness! He is watching over us, keeping us, caring for us and helping us even when we don’t know it.

He is Omnipresent – present in all places at all times. God is everywhere and He knows everything that is taking place at all times. That is huge to know. We don’t need to fear our situation or the people that try to intimidate us. We need to fear God in His Awesome greatness. He is powerful and loving, all in ONE!

This kind of fear will bring us into a closer relationship with God. It gives us accountability, causing us to want to do things the way God wants it done, knowing that His love and direction for us is to bring us into a life of victory!!

Knowing how Awesome God is should not cause us to run away from Him, but to Him.

Run into His arms and have a Happy New Year!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-12

(Proverbs 16:18 NKJV)  Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride… we’re all guilty of it in one way or another at different times in our lives.

Sometimes pride is very obvious. Other times it can be subtle and hard to spot, whether in others or in ourselves.

Subtle pride in ourselves is the most dangerous kind because it can hide itself very well, leading us to think we’re not proud or haughty at all.

God has dealt with me to a very large degree about pride during the last several months. He has shown me areas of my life where pride had crept in and caused me to become haughty, mostly in subtle ways. But it was having a big effect on my life.

Let’s just say God gave me an attitude adjustment. I needed it!

I have no problem admitting this because I know that we all battle with this problem, even when we think we don’t. Maybe me admitting it to others will help others to see it in themselves.

Ask God today about pride in yourself. Ask Him to show you where you’re proud or haughty. He won’t hesitate to do so if you really mean it when you ask Him!

Let God remove your pride before it hurts you or those around you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-29-12

(Proverbs 29:11 NKJV)  A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back.

As the world and society have become wise in their own eyes, we hear more and more about how they believe it is healthy for us to constantly express ourselves and “vent” our feelings to everyone.

We are constantly told that it’s healthy to tell people what we feel. And there are instances where this is very true.

But wisdom will teach us that there is a time to speak our mind and a time to hold our tongue. The tough part for us is in knowing when to speak and when not to.

God wants to give us the wisdom needed to know the difference. This will be easier for some people and more difficult for others. I know that for me, I have a tendency to voice my opinions very easily, but God has taught me over the years this isn’t always a good thing!

So when you feel your emotions rising up inside of you and you want to start venting to everyone you see, stop and listen. Let God speak to you and give you wisdom. Let Him tell you whether to speak or to be silent.

God is faithful to teach us. We just need to let Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-28-12

(Proverbs 8:17 NKJV)  I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.

How do we show the Lord we love Him?

One way to show Him that we love Him is by knowing His word and abiding in it. (John 14:15 NKJV)  “If you love Me, keep My commandments“. Take one day at a time and apply it to your everyday life.

When we sin, we shouldn’t just overlook it, but we should take the time we need to acknowledge it and do whatever His word tells us to do to make it right.

We know we need to repent if we want to receive His forgiveness, but we must also learn how not to fall into that sin again. His word will help us in this.

Each day that we follow Him through the leading of His word, we will learn to love Him even more.

Seek Him diligently today. He is much more interesting than Facebook, movies, music, video games, work or shopping.

His love is long-lasting and real.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-27-12

(Exodus 14:21 NKJV)  Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.

God led the Israelites to the shore of the Red Sea. The Egyptians were in hot pursuit. There was nowhere to run or hide as they faced the sea.

God instructed Moses to stretch his hand out over the sea. So Moses did this and then God began to move.

Take notice that God caused the waters of the Red Sea to part, to divide, but it didn’t happen instantly. It took all night long!

The Israelites had to wait there on the shore of the sea all night, while God caused a strong east wind to blow and divide the waters.

What about us? Are any of us feeling like our backs are against the wall right now? Are we standing on the shore waiting for God to part the sea?

Take heart! Know that God will move on our behalf, but it almost never happens when we think it should!

We all need to trust in Him alone. We need to stop trying to make sense of every little thing that happens and stop trying to figure it all out! All of these things will cause us to question God and bring doubt and fear into our lives. Neither of these is from God, but from our enemy, the devil.

Let’s dig down deep and let God test our faith, and see what we’re really made of! It may not always be comfortable, but it is the best thing for us!
