Bible Verse of The Day – 10-9-21

Daniel 6:23 (NKJV) 23 Now the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God.

Daniel was in this den with the lions all night. The lions did not hurt him. He was not injured in any way.

Why?

Because Daniel believed in his God!

Do we believe in our God today?

Are we in trouble? Are we facing a den full of hungry lions? Are the walls closing in on us, and we feel the fear and pressure of what could possibly happen?

Is our mind screaming, “There is no way out of this one.”?

So many today only have to do one thing to fix their predicament, but they think that one thing is ridiculous. Because of this, they haven’t even considered it. They think that one thing is of the past or only for the “Bible days”.

The stories in the Bible aren’t just for us to simply read. They aren’t for us to take lightly and say, “well, God did it for them because they are special. That stuff doesn’t happen today”.

That is wrong.

They are lessons and examples of God’s might, power and love for us! They are written to show us how faithful God was for them, and still is for us!

How many of us today can believe God?

Can we walk out the process that God is leading us into, in order to experience the deliverance that needs to come

Daniel believed God.

He was still put in a den with lions. This was the place he needed to be in for his deliverance to come. And he kept his belief in God strong, no matter what he was facing.

What lion are we facing today, and what den have we been thrown into?

Don’t give up and start doubting God. Believe, and keep believing. Stand strong in times like this.

He will shut their mouths and you shall be found innocent.

Daniel 6:22 (NKJV) 22 My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-8-21

1 Thessalonians 4:11 (NKJV) 11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,

As Paul addressed the believers at Thessalonica, he urged them to lead quiet lives.

This is good for us to understand, since quiet lives also help us to be at peace, both outwardly and inwardly.

This is not to insinuate that we should stay at home and never interact with others. But to encourage us to avoid conflict whenever possible, and not to purposely inject ourselves into the affairs of others, stirring up trouble and heated discussions or unnecessary debates.

There is a fine line that we need to try to walk. As believers, we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Salt adds flavor, indicating that believers will indeed create some interesting conversations and scenarios as we bring the truth and light into various situations.

This is not to say, however, that we should intentionally try to “stir the pot”, so to speak, to create tense situations.

Notice also that he urged them to “mind their own business”.

This goes hand in hand with living quiet lives. And it’s something that’s good for us to do.

There will be times when we are required to speak truth. And sometimes that truth will cause people to bristle up.

But we need to heed the Holy Spirit as He leads us and lets us know when to speak and when to be silent.

Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-7-21

Exodus 15:26 (NKJV) 26 and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”

The Lord is our Healer!

Where do we need healing today?

We have seen people healed. And we truly trust the Lord to heal anyone that comes to Him and obeys what He tells us to do.

This is key; that we diligently heed His voice.

What is He saying today?

Is He saying, “stop the direction in which you usually go, and do things differently?” Or is He saying, “you know what to do, step out in faith and just do it” ?

Only we know what His voice is telling us to do in our own personal situation.

We are all dealing with a need for some type of healing in our life at different times.

Don’t give up; you’re not alone. Keep trusting Him all the way through!

Psalm 31:14 (NKJV) 14 But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.”

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-6-21

1 Kings 11:6 (NKJV) 6 Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not fully follow the Lord, as did his father David.

I recently finished reading through the Bible again. When I finished, I pondered on where to start reading afterward. I felt like God prompted me to go back to 1 Kings and then read through 2 Kings, etc.

I needed to learn more and gain a better understanding about the various kings, and what they did that was right or wrong in God’s eyes.

As I’ve been doing that, I have seen this phrase repeated over and over again; “he did evil in the sight of the Lord”.

I saw this phrase relating to the various kings close to 30 times. And it was always for the same reason; they worshipped other gods (idols).

Many times, it was followed by this phrase; “they made Israel sin”.

These particular kings worshiped idols and led the Israelites to do the same.

All of this showed me that God values one thing more than anything else when it comes to our relationship with Him; our loyalty to Him.

Yes, God despises sin overall. So, we need to live and walk righteously before Him.

But the thing He desires most is a loyal heart; a heart after Him, that will honor Him and hold Him above all else.

This is something that shouldn’t be that hard for us to do.

Why? Because when Jesus left this earth, God sent us a Helper; the Holy Spirit, who leads us and guides us, convicting us before we commit a sin, showing us how to avoid that sin.

But sometimes our flesh is strong, and it takes more effort than it should to avoid those sins.

And the world has a way of waving shiny objects in front of us, enticing us to push God aside and run after “other gods”.

Let’s be careful not to let that happen. Let’s honor God in everything we do.

And let’s make a conscious effort not to be one of the people who has that awful phrase attached to their name after we have left this earth; “they did evil in the sight of the Lord”.

God has equipped us to make that possible. Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-5-21

Psalm 98:1 (NKJV) 1 Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.

A lot of change has happened for us all, and it will continue to happen in the weeks and months to come.

It’s not time for us to lay down and cry. We can for a moment, but we must get up and push forward.

The path of our lives, and sometimes the lives of others, depend on whether we give up or keep standing.

Sometimes we feel like just saying, “why bother? Things seem to be getting worse instead of better”.

We know that feeling very well. And we can honestly say, “don’t believe it, because we will win in the end!”.

If this is speaking to your heart today, you need to know one thing; you are not going to lose, because we have Someone Who has already won all there is to win for us.

He has won every battle there is to win. And believe me, there are no new ones that catch Him off guard.

He fights for us.

Don’t let go of, or take your focus off of Him. He is our winner, and through Him we have the victory!

We don’t have to wait until we see it to sing a new song. We have to shout and sing beforehand because it’s already been WON by His right hand and holy arm!

Stand on the mountaintop and shout out your victory song today, if you believe He has won.

Show it in our actions. Let our voices be heard. God has gone before us!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-4-21

James 4:6 (NKJV) 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

As I was doing some various things today, the Holy Spirit dropped a short phrase into my spirit; He opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

I quickly texted it to myself so I wouldn’t forget it.

I knew it was a piece of scripture, but I wanted to dig into it a bit and learn more about what it really means.

So, as I sat down to begin researching, I found that there are actually a few references to this principle throughout scripture.

The verse above states that “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble”.

Note the quotation marks, indicating that it came from another scripture.

Then, that same phrase is quoted again in 1 Peter 5:5.

Digging further showed that it came from Proverbs 3:34. The wording in Proverbs was slightly different, but with the same intent.

Proverbs 3:34 (NKJV) 34 Surely He scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble.

The original text here uses stronger language, by replacing “proud” with “scornful”. It also states that God “scorns” these types of people, instead of saying that He “opposes” them.

So, what does that mean?

First, as you would assume, the targets of this are prideful people; arrogant people who look down at others or hold themselves in higher esteem than they should.

James uses it when referring to worldly behavior in believers, warning that anyone who is a friend of the world is an enemy of God.

Peter uses it while promoting submissiveness to elders and to each other (within the body of Christ), while also encouraging believers to be “clothed with humility”.

Lastly, let’s look at the original, in Proverbs.

Interestingly, the writer says that God “scorns the scornful”.

This literally means that God looks at the scornful (wicked, oppressor) in the same way that they look at others; with disdain and contempt (worthless, despicable, beneath consideration, unworthy of respect).

Those are pretty powerful words by anyone’s standards.

But what do we see when it comes to the humble?

God gives them grace, treating them with honor, dignity and distinction, showing them His love and kindness.

This makes it plain that humility is pleasing to God, while pride is not.

Let’s ask God to show us if we are prideful anywhere in our lives. And then let’s allow Him to root it out of us, making us humble in every way, so our lives are pleasing to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-2-21

Daniel 3:29 (NKJV)  29 Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”

God revealed Himself to king Nebuchadnezzer by delivering these three men, Shadrach, Meshack and Abed-Nego, after they had been thrown into a fiery furnace.

They came out with not even a hair singed on any of them. And they did not even smell like smoke!

This made a big impression on the king. He and many others saw God move that day.

What an amazing moment! I love how the King asked, “didn’t we put three men in the furnace? But, I see four, and the fourth is like the Son of God”.

Daniel 3:25 (NKJV) 25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

I would have been shouting at that moment! Woohoo!!

Why did God deliver them? Because they trusted Him. Because they were loyal to Him, and because they would not bow and worship a statue. They stood their ground.

Let us ponder on this today and ask ourselves; would we have been willing to stand up for what we believe, knowing that if we did, we may suffer severe consequences?

It’s hard to imagine that someday we may face such decisions. But know that if that day ever comes, like it did for Shadrach, Meshack and Abed-Nego, God is our deliverer.

Be brave and don’t cave in. He will be there with us. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-1-21

Matthew 24:14 (NKJV) 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Over the last 12 years I have watched current events unfold with an ever-increasing awareness, keeping an eye on where they fall in relationship to scripture.

I am not a scholar of Bible prophecies. Nor do I claim to be a prophet. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

But I am a student of the Bible, ever learning and ever growing in my knowledge and understanding of God’s word.

What I have witnessed tells me that we are inching oh so close to the fulfillment of the verse above.

I used to think that we were still 100 years or so away from that day. But technology has made it possible for the gospel to reach areas without stepping foot there. The world has become smaller during the last 50 years or less.

The devotional you’re reading right now is proof of that. We have likely never met face to face. Yet, tens of thousands of people read these messages every day, all across the globe. See what I mean?

Over the last 15 years, everything has accelerated. Things are moving at a rapid pace, hurdling quickly toward “that day”. And the pace seems to quicken at an alarming rate as each month goes by.

We are not writing this to claim that we know the day. We don’t. No one does.

But we see the signs. They are everywhere.

We are writing this to encourage everyone to draw near to God. He is our only hope. He is the only one worthy to be worshipped. And He is the one who holds our destiny in His hands.

So, set your eyes upon Him and Him alone. Worship no man. Look to no man. And stay grounded in His word.

Stay sharp. Stay alert. Stay vigilant.

And let the Holy Spirit teach you how to discern everything you see and hear.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 (NKJV) 5 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
