Bible Verse of The Day – 5-20-25

Philippians 1:4 (NKJV) 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,

We are so very grateful today for you. And we don’t want you to think for one moment we take for granted your prayers, your financial support, your encouraging words, and your standing with us.

We know that it’s only by His hand that we are joined together in Christ.

We ask people often, “how did you find us?” And they all seem to say the same familiar words.

“We stumbled upon your site. We can’t even remember how we found you, but it was what we needed to hear at that moment.”

It is God! Amen.

That’s how the good things in life always happen. We can’t remember how, or why. It just is.

Thank you for being with us, helping us spread God’s word, and growing with us. We are truly blessed having you here, and we can’t do it all without you.

We may never meet you face to face on this side of heaven, but we are divinely connected. And we will all meet on the other side some day.

And together we will celebrate and worship our wonderful Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ!

We appreciate and love you all so much, from the bottom of our hearts. Thank YOU!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-19-25

Psalm 19:1 (LSB) 1 The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And the expanse is declaring the work of His hands.

It’s 9 AM. Pastor Ellie and I are sitting on our back porch this morning, watching dark clouds roll in, and listening to the sounds of rain hit the house.

The sunless skies are ominous as thunder rolls in the distance.

We have a fire going in our small fire pit, so the leaping and dancing of the flames warms us against the dampness and the breeze that comes intermittently.

This is God’s creation, performing before our eyes at His command.

It is moments like these where God’s wonder can be easily observed, allowing us to take in the beauty and awe of it all.

Creation speaks of Him, and it puts His power on full display from time to time. And it is incredible to behold.

Sometimes we miss what is right in front of us. We fail to see God’s power and might even as He shows us Himself in such undeniable ways.

All we need to do is take the time to recognize it. Take it in and be reminded of Him as we see it.

Sometimes it is the seemingly small things that can make the biggest impact on our lives. We just need to let God speak to us in the way that He chooses, reminding us of His presence and His omnipotence; His sovereignty in all things.

And as we take that reminder with us throughout the day, let it draw us ever nearer to Him.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-17-25

Matthew 4:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

Understand when Satan, the tempter, comes to tempt us, we have what we need to overcome the temptation.

What is it? The Word of God!

There is power to overcome any kind of temptation by God’s promises. By His truth. By His word!

Sometimes we may not remember the exact chapter and verse, but knowing what God says is what’s most important.

The Holy Spirit will help us in this, but we must be willing to trust God and stand against temptation when it is staring us in the face.

Jesus didn’t try to overcome this on His own. He used the Word of God to rebuke the devil, and He was victorious!

God’s word is powerful. It is true, it’s alive, and it wins every battle the enemy throws at us.

Know the words of God. We must stand on them, and hold them dear to our hearts! Use them whenever the enemy tries to tempt us. And he will flee.

Matthew 4:11 (NKJV) 11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-16-25

Luke 6:38 (LSB) 38 Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”

When Jesus taught in parables, He was always careful to make sure He used examples that were relevant to the life that people were familiar with.

He wanted them to easily understand what He was saying so they could receive understanding from God’s Spirit.

Speaking in ways that were difficult for the people to understand would benefit no one. They would walk away as spiritually ignorant as they were prior to hearing Jesus teach.

The verse above is one that we frequently hear taught. It speaks directly about generosity. But Jesus used verbiage that the people could readily relate to and draw conclusions from.

Let’s break this down a bit so we can be sure to get a clear understanding of what Jesus said, and why He chose the words He used.

As Jesus taught them about giving, He used the phrase, “They will pour into your lap a good measure”, which may seem foreign to our modern-day minds. What does this mean?

This is a direct reference to the marketplaces of that time. Grain at that time was poured into containers. Long robes were used to carry any excess.

As grain was measured out, the receiving container was shaken as a means of causing the grain to settle, creating room for more grain. This guaranteed that the buyer was getting a “full measure” of what they were buying.

And they would often get extra to be sure they received their money’s worth.

Jesus used this familiar practice to teach the people about the importance of generosity, and giving liberally.

His primary message was that we receive by the same standard we use in our giving.

If we give little, we also receive little. But if we give much, we will be abundantly blessed by God for our generosity.

This is a spiritual principle put in place by God that He wants us to understand and to live by. It is not merely a suggestion, but a deep truth that has large ramifications.

So, let us develop understanding in this area and put it into practice in our daily lives. For with the measure we bless others, by that same measure will we too be blessed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-15-25

James 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

If there is one thing we can do in our relationship with God, it is to be real. He knows us deeply and we cannot pretend with Him.

The next thing is to be real with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

If we are going through things, it’s good to be prayerful about it. But we don’t need to hide what is happening.

Let’s be real with ourselves and with others, and share as God leads us.

Many times, as I have shared something personal that was very heavy on me, the person I was speaking to would say something to encourage or advise me.

What a huge help it was.

If we don’t open up and talk about these things, we will probably always be in the same place, struggling with the thing that weighs so heavy on us.

But through speaking about it, we can get insight and help from others. Yes, that means we have to bring it up and speak of it.

Can we be real with each other without people thinking we are being negative?

If we can’t talk to fellow children of God about real life things happening in our lives, we’re in trouble.

As believers let us not fail in this area. Let us be mature enough to admit when we need help; when we need to share our problems with others.

Being a Christian does not mean life is going to always be pretty.

Let us get real! Get real with God, get real with each other. We are not fooling anyone. God can see our struggles.

Prayer is what will help us all. But if we don’t open up and confess, admit, acknowledge or declare to one another what is wrong, how can we pray and help each other? How can we know what others are going through if we are afraid to share?

Stop pretending. And know that it’s OK to talk about our problem, sin or any other issues we may be having. Don’t let others make us feel like we are a bad Christian if we have something going on.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-25

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

As followers of Christ, learning and growing is a lifelong process. There is no beginning or end date.

Growth is something that God wants for each of us.

Part of that learning and growing process happens without us realizing it is happening.

It comes by way of the things we experience in our lives.

Difficulties can push us to grow in areas that we never desired to grow in. Adversity will cause us to reach beyond our perceived boundaries. It will stretch us.

Pastor Ellie and I have seen our share of adversities. We are not exempt.

Admittedly, while facing those difficulties we wanted them to go away. But we have learned to value what God taught us through them.

One of the most prominent and life-changing lessons was learning not to be anxious.

This was not an easy lesson to learn. It required that we fully surrender to God and follow every step He gave us.

But as we did this, He showed us His ways. And He led us through the storm that we were caught in, bringing us safely out the other side with stronger faith in Him than we had ever thought possible.

He has done this for us more than once. And each time taught us new, valuable lessons in faith and trust.

We are not special. He can and will do the same for you. Will you let Him?

Will you surrender to Him and let Him show you His ways, and walk you through whatever storm you may be facing?

It will change your walk with God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-13-25

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

When we start to feel like we don’t get excited about worldly things, it’s not because there is something wrong with us

It’s because we have reached a point in our walk where we are content and no longer in need of worldly things to keep us happy.

What brings excitement at this new place now is learning and growing in God!

I have felt bad a few times recently when I realized I wasn’t getting excited about some things in my life that were good.

I was wondering if there was something wrong with me! I was wondering if I was being ungrateful.

I wondered what was happening. Years ago I would have gotten so excited about what had just taken place.

Don’t get me wrong. I am in no way saying I don’t enjoy nice things, I love it! It’s just that I’m not striving for things anymore.

These things don’t make me or break me based on whether they happen or not.

My emotions or excitement levels don’t change because I got blessed. They are now stable and fixed on God.

He has brought me to a place in my walk where I have such a peace in just being near Him, or being in the place He wants me.

All I desire and look forward to is growing closer and  going deeper in my relationship with God.

What excites me now isn’t getting worldly things, but His peace that surpasses all understanding moving in me! That’s pure excitement, and it brings stability that guides my emotions.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-12-25

Ecclesiastes 3:2 (NKJV) 2 A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted;

Most of us think very little about the brevity of our lives; the limited time we have here on earth in this human skin.

It is natural for us not to think about because we are busy living.

We do need to think about this from time to time, however, because doing so helps us to put things into perspective and keep our priorities straight.

This should not be considered a morbid topic. It should not be something that we fear to speak about or discuss with others.

Death is a fact of life. Ignoring it will not make it go away.

David expressed this well in the following Psalm.

Psalm 39:4-5 (NKJV) 4 “Lord, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am. 5 Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah

Our lives are nothing more than a vapor, a short span of time, and then we are gone.

So, considering this, we should make it a point to weigh our lives and use what we see to make adjustments that give our lives more purpose and more meaning.

What do our priorities look like?

Do we spend our time in ways that impact others for the kingdom of God?

Do we put God above all else?

Are we grateful to God for what He has blessed us with?

These three questions can shape (or re-shape) our lives if we take them seriously.

The question is, do we?

This may be very sobering for many of us. But that should not cause us to ignore it. On the contrary, we need to consider it.

Let today be the day that we ask ourselves what our legacy here will be when we are gone.

How will we be remembered? But more importantly, what impact will our life have for God’s kingdom?

That is the question for us all to consider.

Please click to watch the video nowGreetings in the wonderful name of Jesus!

Our walk with God is something that is unique to each of us.

Some of us seem closer than others to our God, the One who redeemed us. And some seem to struggle with this.

We hope you will watch our new video today, Seek Me and Find Me, which deals with this very important topic.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-10-25

Matthew 16:15 (NKJV) 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?

Who do you say that I Am?

Jesus asked His disciples this question. And Peter was right there with the answer, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Matthew 16:16 (NKJV) 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Peter did not know this by his own understanding, and not by flesh and blood. His understanding of who Jesus was came from God.

There are some things our heads cannot comprehend or explain. For these things, we need understanding directly from God.

He will give us the understanding and revelation of things that our heads can’t otherwise wrap around.

What understanding do we have today of Jesus Christ?

Do we just repeat words that we have heard others say? Or do we know Him intimately with God-given understanding and revelation?

Matthew 16:17 (NKJV) 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

What would be our answer to the question? Who do you say that He is?

Let us ask God to give us His understanding, that we may know in our hearts and let it explode out of us when asked.
