Bible Verse of The Day – 8-26-25

Psalm 46:1 (NKJV) 1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

Just a reminder today of this verse; very simple but yet so profound.

Some folks may think the weight of the world is on their shoulders and they must handle it all on their own. But that’s not the case if you are God’s child.

Once you become His child, you never walk alone unless you deliberately deny the help He is offering.

We must understand that He is our Help.

That means if you are struggling with raising your children, He is your Helper, giving you the understanding you need to make right decisions for them.

If you are struggling financially, He is the One who will help you figure out what went wrong, and how to turn it around.

If you are struggling in your marriage today, He is the One who can give you and your spouse answers, and directions to get back on track again.

If you’re struggling on a job with coworkers or your boss, He is the One you go to and find out how to address the issues. Sometimes He may show you that there is no addressing it at all, but just to cover it in prayer.

God is our help when we are in trouble. It’s His strength that gets us through. Run to Him. He is our refuge!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-25-25

Matthew 26:69-70 (LSB) 69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant-girl came to him and said, “You too were with Jesus the Galilean.” 70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are talking about.”

It is well-known among anyone who is a follower of Christ, or anyone who has spent time in God’s word that Peter had his ups and downs, especially as a young believer.

His early years walking with Jesus (literally) were laden with highs and lows.

He had incredible moments of divine revelation, and equally powerful stumbles and falls.

Above, Jesus had been arrested, and Peter had followed as Jesus was led away to be questioned and charged as a criminal.

The verses above are Peter’s first denial of Jesus when he was accused of being one of His followers.

And here is more.

Matthew 26:71-72 (LSB) 71 And when he had gone out to the gateway, another servant-girl saw him and said to those who were there, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.” 72 And again he denied it with an oath, “I do not know the man.”

And Peter went on to deny Jesus a third time, swearing an oath that he didn’t even know Him.

He cried bitterly after his third denial (Matthew 26:75), realizing that what Jesus had spoken had come to pass.

But God is a restorer; the God who forgives a repentant heart.

And restore Peter, He did!

If we fast forward to the early days of the church, we can see the power of God that was operating through Peter:

Acts 5:15 (LSB) 15 to such an extent that they even carried the sick out into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, so that when Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on any one of them.

This was the same man who wept bitterly on the night of Jesus’ arrest, now walking full of God’s Spirit, bringing mighty signs and wonders to further the gospel and the kingdom of God.

Peter was flesh and bone, just as you are and I am. He fell; he got back up. And he let God lead him, restore him, and use him for the rest of his life.

And God will do the same for us if we allow Him to.

Yes, we fail. Yes, we fall. And, yes, we may even do things that make it look like we deny Him.

But He is the God of restoration. And let us never forget that.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-23-25

Proverbs 3:13-15 (NKJV) 13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; 14 For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.

If we are not careful, we will spend our whole life trying to find happiness in the wrong things.

Over the past few months my heart has been earnestly seeking God for His wisdom and understanding.

This life we live is not easy, and probably never will be.

No matter how hard we try to make everything perfect, there will still come days that are hard. Days that we are not sure how to handle. And People that are difficult that we must deal with on a regular basis.

What will make our lives a little easier? Finding God’s wisdom and understanding.

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

We may not have all the answers for every situation that troubles us. It is sometimes impossible to know exactly what to do and say.

And we all know that sometimes we make mistakes, even as God’s children.

I’ve learned over the years that most times that is how we get our understanding when it comes to what NOT to do.

This is also how we can learn and give advice to help others as needed.

But most importantly, we do have Someone we can go to and confide in and get the help we need. It’s His wisdom and understanding that will get us through the most difficult things in life.

Getting God’s wisdom in every area of our life will bring stability and a genuine happiness that we would not know otherwise.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-22-25

John 16:1 (LSB) 1 “These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from stumbling.

This is a very interesting verse.

What makes it so interesting?

The fact that Jesus was warning the disciples that what was to come may cause them to stumble.

Various Bible translations often include a descriptive subtitle at the beginning of each chapter of the 66 books.

For this chapter, the LSB translation uses this subtitle: Jesus’ Warning.

The NKJV translation uses this: Jesus Warns and Comforts His Disciples.

So, from this we can clearly see that Jesus was warning them, and also comforting them.

But it’s also important that we understand what it was that He was warning them about.

In the LSB, above, we can see that He wanted them to be aware so they may “be kept from stumbling.”

The NKJV says it was so they “should not be made to stumble.”

This brings much more clarity to the importance of what Jesus was saying, and why He warned them.

But what does this mean? What was being referred to by “stumbling”?

The NLT translation brings it all together by saying “I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith.”

You see, our faith in Christ is a walk; a perpetual endeavor that relies on our effort to keep it thriving. It is a lifelong journey.

And if the disciples, who spent 3 years face-to-face with Jesus, needed to be cautioned, so must we also exercise that same caution, that we may also not stumble or abandon our faith.

Knowing this, let us give our relationship with God the time, effort, and diligence that are due, that our walk with God may become impenetrably strong; an unbreakable bond between us and our Savior that not even the demons of hell can destroy.

That on our final day, when we cross over into eternity, we may hear God say, “well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-21-25

1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV) 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

For most people, appearance says a lot. It is how they judge a person; by what they have, how they carry themselves, or how they dress.

If we could only get this understanding; it is what’s in the heart of a man or woman that makes them who they are.

We can’t see a person’s heart as God does. But we can know someone’s heart, or even our own heart to some degree.

How?

By listening to what is said.

Matthew 15:18 (NKJV) 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.

A person’s words will speak volumes. We will hear what is in their heart if we listen when they speak.

It is the same with our own heart. If we listen to ourselves and what we say, we will hear what is in our heart as well.

The things we have in there that are good, we will hear them come out. And the things that need correcting and adjusting, they will show up as well.

We must stop looking at the appearance of someone and deciding who they are or what they are about.

Listening will show us what they are all about.

Some people may look like they don’t have much if we judge them by their appearance. But in their heart they may be rich in love and wisdom.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-20-25

Romans 8:38-39 (LSB) 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Life can be hard. Sometimes it seems like we barely get past one dilemma, and another one comes crashing down.

Sometimes we make choices that we question.

We spend our waking hours looking backwards, wondering if we could (or should) have done something differently. And maybe if we had, we would not have ended up in the situation we are currently in.

And we beat ourselves up, over and over again, blaming ourselves for the mess we are in.

And then we begin to question whether God could still love us because of the things we have done.

And sometimes it may seem that God has gone silent, abandoning us; leaving us to wallow in painful solitude in our darkness and misery.

But the truth is that this solitude and silence is not a byproduct of God abandoning us. He does not stop loving us because of the things we have done.

If there is one constant in life, it is God’s love.

It never changes. It is more powerful than our finite human minds can comprehend.

And it is that love that never fails; never faltering because of a choice we made or a trial that we are facing.

Never let the enemy, or your mind, convince you that God has left.

Does He go quiet at times? Yes.

But does He ever stop loving us, or will He cast us aside because of our choices?

Never.

So, what do we do when we have messed up, and we feel like we have blown it for the final time and we cannot possibly be redeemed?

We go to Him. We repent. We bare our souls before Him. And we worship Him, even in the deafening silence.

And we lay our cares and shortcomings at His feet.

And then we let Him work in our heart to propel us past the darkness and condemnation that the enemy has blanketed us in, looking expectantly to Him for His peace once again; that peace that surpasses all understanding.

And we watch as he delivers us as only He can do.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-19-25

Mark 7:15 (NKJV) 15 There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.

It’s what is in us that hurts us.

What can we work on today together? We all have an area where we are weak.

Whether it’s our mouth, our desires, our anger, our habits, etc., there is something in us that, if we don’t bring it into submission, can defile us and cause problems in our walk with Christ.

Not one of us is perfect. And we all have inner things that, right now as this is being read, we know exactly what they are.

Mark 7:16 (NKJV) 16 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!

Are we willing to work on them? Will we let God put His finger on it today and help us overcome that which is in us that defiles us.

Let us do this together. Pick that one thing that stands out the most, and let’s focus on allowing God to help us turn it around.

Together, right now, we are praying and agreeing with you that we will have victory over it!

In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-18-25

Luke 22:31 (LSB) 31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to sift all of you like wheat.

In the hours leading up to the betrayal of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, He spent time preparing His disciples for what was immediately ahead, as well as what they could expect in the long-term future.

He had a genuine desire to help them understand the reality of what they would face as His disciples.

This was a difficult, but necessary thing, as He wanted them to know the seriousness of it.

He did this in a way that was direct, but somewhat gentle and genuinely compassionate.

The verse above is one that carries a tremendous amount of weight, as it speaks directly to Satan’s desire and intent to take drastic measures to persecute them as heavily as God would allow.

This is reminiscent of Satan requesting permission to test Job, that he might persuade him to abandon his faith in God (Job 1:11–12).

The concept of Satan “sifting” believers is not new, yet it remains unfamiliar to many — and even more obscure is the truth that God grants him permission to do so.

This is not to say that God grants permission to every request of Satan. Some that we never know of are denied.

But we must understand that if we are being tested by trials, God is not unaware, nor does it happen without His consent.

So, the desire of Jesus was to help His disciples comprehend what they would face in the days, months, and years ahead, as their faith in Him propelled them into places and situations that they could not comprehend at that moment.

So it is with us. We put our faith and trust in God through Christ. And we become a target of Satan the very moment we do so.

Should we expect to face the same trials that the disciples faced? Will our lives be put at risk because of our faith?

It is highly unlikely. But it is something that we should consider and be prepared for if the situation arises.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-16-25

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Finding God for ourselves is of the utmost importance.

God wants to be very personal in our lives. But for this to happen we must get real with Him.

This means that when we talk with Him, we share our most private thoughts with Him; how we feel about this and that. And what we think about certain situations.

If we are angry or disappointed about anything or anyone, we tell Him. We share those things with Him that no one else can ever know.; our secrets about ourselves and how we feel about life.

The only way God becomes personal to us is if we are truthful with Him and let Him into our personal life.

We don’t hold anything back. We put it out there and let Him help us with sorting through those things that are very difficult.

You may say “well, God already knows.”

Yes, He does! But opening our mouths and talking to Him about it is helping us to share our heart with Him.

We may not know how to open up to Him. Maybe we are not even open to ourselves!

This is not something that we figure out how to do overnight. It takes time to learn, one step at a time.

Start today, Share something personal with Him. And if you need an answer from Him, listen and watch for His answer on this one subject.

It doesn’t mean you will hear or see something right away, it may take time. But know and have faith in Him to give you an answer that will help you with whatever you shared with Him.

John 10:27 (NKJV) 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

He may speak to our innermost being; our spirit.

He may use someone else to speak to us causing us to think, “how did they know I needed to hear that?”

He may show us through ways we never expected, but be expecting Him to answer. And He will. We will know His voice.

He is there for us; seek Him with all our heart.
