Bible Verse of The Day – 1-11-14

Micah 6:8 (NKJV)8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

So what does God require of us?

To do justly – do the right thing; the thing that pleases Him.

To love mercy – to learn to show mercy to others, just as He has shown mercy to us.

To walk humbly with your God – humility is the key to a successful relationship with our God. If we can learn to humble ourselves before Him, there will be nothing that stops us from pressing into Him and learning to love Him with our whole heart.

Humility is also the key to successful relationships of every kind, whether it be your marriage, your career or anything else. If we can be humble, admit when we’re wrong, heed counsel and correction and learn to listen to others, we will go very far.

Do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.

Enjoy your weekend.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-14

James 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Pride and humility. They are two exact opposites. And a large segment of the church seems to have gotten caught up on the wrong side of the fence during the past few decades.

We know this because we have seen it, and the fruits of it, in our own lives. God has shown it to us and He has been working diligently, skillfully removing it with the precision of a surgeon.

Pride can creep in ever so subtly. It can come in disguised as a million different things that look so good on the surface. But in the end, pride will destroy us, slowly, a little tiny bit at a time, until we are devastated and left empty-handed.

Pride is being propagated throughout the body of Christ in many ways, by many different teachings. The “Prosperity Gospel” is one of the biggest culprits, but there are others too. And as followers of Christ unknowingly become followers of “other gospels”, pride can creep in and sweep us away.

We implore you today to ask God to show you where you may have become prideful. Let Him show you where pride has crept in. And then let Him do what needs to be done to remove it from your life.

Do it now, because the longer you wait, the harder and more painful it will be to root out and get rid of.

God is the ultimate surgeon. He knows how to remove what isn’t good for us and then heal us afterward.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-9-14

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV) But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Wow. God knew what was coming and warned us about it well in advance!

I’m in my 50s and I have to tell you that the world has changed drastically since I was a child. Every kind of crime you can think of has increased by huge percentages.

It doesn’t matter whether you talk about murder, adultery, fornication, thievery, arrogance, lust, haughtiness, or whatever it is, it has gotten extremely bad during the last 25 years. And it’s not going to get any better!

God has told us that this will be so. He has forewarned us about all of it.

But He has also told us and taught us how to keep ourselves from falling prey to this and becoming like this in our own lives.

We need to stay close to Him and listen closely to His voice. He gives us everything we need to resist evil and protect ourselves from it.

God is faithful to teach us and to speak to us. Let’s be diligent and do our part to follow His leading.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-8-14

(Matthew 8:10 NKJV)  When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

What does GREAT faith do? It causes the Lord to Marvel! If we want to make the Lord marvel, have great FAITH!

It’s an easy thing to say and, yes, at times it’s even easy to do. But, there are times when having faith can be difficult. For instance, when we are in the middle of a battle, and we can not see the way out, our faith may get little; so little that we may think we have lost it.

That’s when we surround ourselves with people that have BIG faith!

God has a way of bringing the right people around us at the right time! Don’t take your family, friends and leaders that God connects you with, for granted. They are there to help us and we may need to return the favor, as God leads.

If we are not happy with the people that God has brought around us to help us, then we simply need to get over it. Mature Christians will understand that it’s not always the person we thought it might be, but thank God He knows better than us!

Have faith in Him, that He knows who we need at the right time. We may need that person to speak up and tell us what we might not want to hear. That doesn’t mean they are being mean.

It means, first, that they love God enough to obey Him. Secondly, they love us enough to speak the truth, rather than stand in front of us and make like everything is OK, when it’s really not.

Have great faith in God today, let Him help us in every situation, and with whom He wants to use help us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-7-14

Proverbs 15:3 (NKJV) The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

There isn’t a single thing that gets past God.

No matter what happens, when it happens or where it happens, God’s eyes see it and His ears hear it.

Some might think of this and use it to hold Christians accountable for their behavior. This is, of course, true. We should always be aware of what we’re doing and whether it’s pleasing to God or not.

But did you know that we also need to understand this when it comes to the things that others do?

There is a lot of evil in the world. Nobody can deny this. The world becomes more vile as each year passes. Thievery, deception… these are just a couple of the things that we see a lot of and which are on the rise. Everyone reading this has probably been stolen from or deceived in one way or another.

Some us have been hurt very badly by this kind of activity, suffering loss of money or material things. And others have been hurt badly by deception, suffering emotionally, sometimes for a very long time.

But know this; The eyes of God are in every place. Nothing is hidden from Him. Not even these things that have caused you harm or loss.

The important thing to understand is that when things happen to us, we are not to return evil for evil. So if you’re holding onto something that has happened to you and wondering how you can get back at that person, let it go.

It’s not easy to do, but let it go. It is not up to us to seek revenge. Vengeance is God’s. He will be the one to judge all people and He will be the one to avenge your loss and your pain.

Romans 12:19 (NKJV) Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

So rest in Him, knowing that He sees all things and that all things are in His hands.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-6-14

1 Timothy 1:17 (NKJV) Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

This is what our walk with God is all about.

It’s about Him. It’s about giving Him honor and glory in everything that we do.

Yes, He does bless us, supply our needs and offer us eternal salvation through the blood of Christ. But when push comes to shove, we are here for Him, not Him for us.

Our lives were created to give glory to God. We were created to worship Him and Him alone!

So let’s think about this, meditate on it and ponder on it. And then let’s take action!

Do our lives glorify Him and bring Him honor?

If so, let’s do even more! If not, it’s never too late to start!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-4-14

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Be strong and of good courage!

The challenges that you’re facing right now will not be your demise. They will not bring you down and they will not defeat you!

Do not be afraid. God is by your side and on your side.

When you begin to have doubts, know this:

Romans 8:31 (NKJV) What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Stand strong in His might, not on your own strength. It is God that brings victory and it usually comes in ways and at times that we would never have expected it to happen.

So be strong and courageous.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-3-14

(Matthew 10:14 NKJV)  “And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.

Never try to force our opinions, our ideas or our beliefs on anyone.

People that are ready, will listen. People that are not ready or don’t want to hear it, will shut down and we usually can sense it and know it.

Being forceful will only cause further rebellion and can actually push people away from God.

So don’t waste time on those that are not willing to listen. Move on, for there are others waiting and ready to hear and receive the good things that God has done for us and what He can do for them.

Don’t take it personal if someone rejects what you have to say. We can always continue to pray for God’s will to be done in their lives, and prayer is very powerful.

Shake off the dust from our feet and move forward!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-2-14

(Psalm 47:1-2 NKJV)  Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! {2} For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth.

Have we ever felt like running and hiding when things are getting out of hand? How about not wanting to get out of bed? Sometimes we don’t even want to see anyone or speak to anyone because of our situation; we can’t find the strength to face another day or person.

We have to remember when we feel this way that no matter what we think about our situation, whether or not we can get out of it by our own knowledge, it’s not over.

We will face it, with or without God. Choose to face it with Him!

He is an awesome King, Jehovah God; He has a plan that will blow our minds.

Praise Him, knowing that He has our back. He will go to battle for us as we put our trust in Him.

Shout to God with the voice of Triumph!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-1-14

Luke 6:37 (NKJV) “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”

This scripture is used so often to teach about judging or not judging others. But today we’re going to talk about a different topic.

Forgiveness.

Forgiveness is something we taught about just a few days ago, but as we turn the corner into the new year, let’s talk about it once more, just to make sure we all get the new year started on the right foot.

Forgiveness is something we all need to learn how to do. Most of us already know this. But what doesn’t seem to get taught is how to understand that forgiveness is not just a choice or a decision that’s made, but it’s also a process.

When we talk about forgiveness, we need to know that we are each responsible for making the choice to forgive others. But once we make that decision, the actual act and process of forgiveness, as a whole, doesn’t necessarily happen instantly.

We start by deciding to forgive a person and then we have to walk it out, day by day, a little tiny bit at a time. Over time, whether it takes days, weeks, months or years, forgiveness will happen if we work at it and determine in our heart and mind to forgive them and ask God to heal the wounds inside of us from whatever pain the other person inflicted upon us.

So start the year off by choosing to forgive someone and then walk it out during the remainder of the year, a little bit at a time.

Happy 2014, everyone. May God’s blessings be upon your life in abundance.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-13

(1 Chronicles 16:11 NKJV)  Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!

Are we needing an answer to our problems today? Are we needing someone to comfort us? Are we feeling alone and need a good friend, someone we can talk to and share everything with? Do we need someone we can trust?

Seek the Lord today and He will be there. He will have an answer for us. His arms are always wide open, He will hold us tight and comfort us!

(Psalm 46:1 NKJV)  God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
