Bible Verse of The Day – 4-26-13

(Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV)  Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; {6} In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

During the last several months we have been reminded over and over again that we need to be trusting in Him with all our hearts and not trying to figure things out based solely on our own understanding.

Today that was confirmed to us in a very big way. We have been facing some very major trials in our lives and we received some news today that, if we looked at it solely from our own understanding, could be very, very negative and discouraging.

But we are trusting God and acknowledging Him in everything that we do. Things might not be going the way we would want them to, but it will all work for the good because we love God

For those of you who have prayed for us recently, thank you so much. We truly appreciate it.

If you’re going through a trial right now, trust God with it. Let Him lead you. It’s not always easy, but His ways are best, even when we don’t understand them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-25-13

(Psalm 34:18-19 NKJV)  The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

Is your heart broken today? Have you lost a loved one or someone very dear to you and are you suffering from their absence.

Take some time today to give it to God and let Him help you through your loss.

If you have to cry out and tell Him how you feel, then do just that. God will listen to you and He will gently help you through your brokenness.

Be healed in your heart today as you give it to God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-24-13

(Colossians 3:15 NKJV)  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

This verse jumped out at me when I saw it, so I knew I had to share it with everyone!

As we have talked about so many times recently, we live in times of great turmoil and high stress. Regardless of what country we live in, there is unrest and constant change.

Peace is something that seems to be hard to find, outside of knowing God. With Him we can have peace, but without Him it’s pretty difficult to find peace in anything at all.

But did you notice how this verse ended? It tells us to be thankful. So God wants us to have peace and He also wants us to be thankful.

Sometimes learning to be thankful is what it takes to have peace. Because once we learn to be thankful and content, the peace comes naturally. But if we are never content or thankful for what we have, we will always be in a state of unrest, never having peace.

We need to let God teach us how to be content, thankful and full of His peace, no matter what we’re facing. For when we become content with what we have been given, then we are ready for what He has next for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-23-13

(John 7:7 NKJV)  “The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.

Do you ever get tired of hearing people that want nothing to do with Christianity saying that Christians are judging them?

We say one little thing to someone and all of a sudden we are judging them. They can say and think whatever they want about us and it’s OK… but look out if we dare say something to them.

We are accused of judging; this is just an excuse or an attack to get us to STOP speaking out… to take a back seat and let them walk all over us. Wrong!

We should not judge anyone or condemn them. However, every single day that we are alive we will have to judge the situations around us and make the right decisions, every moment of every day.

If someone is performing evil works or doing things against what we believe is good or right, then yes we have to judge the situation so that we do not get caught up in it.

We can’t let people confuse us when they say we are judging them, when all we are really doing is simply watching out for ourselves and keeping ourselves from getting involved in the wrong situations, conversations, or in with the wrong crowd. We need to know what to and what not to get involved in. It’s as plain as that.

Jesus had no problem with exposing evil, we shouldn’t either.

We need to continue to take a stand for what we believe and not back down to this lame agenda that the enemy uses to try to stop us, as Christians, from rising up and doing what is right. He is trying to keep us from speaking what is truth.

We don’t judge people, but we need to judge the situation and make the right choice.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-13

(Colossians 3:2 NKJV)  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Where are our minds? What do we set them on?

There are a couple of different angles that this could be taught from, but today I we’d like to focus on this aspect;

What occupies our thoughts? Are we spending all of our waking moments wrapped up in earthly matters, or are we giving God the time that He deserves?

As we touched on last week, we can start our day by getting caught up in the cares of our day, or we can wake up and give God our attention before we get busy, setting things in order as soon as we wake up.

But what about after we’re up and about? Are we pushing God aside for the remainder of our day, are we keeping Him in the forefront of our thoughts and the things that we do?

God is everything. He is our source of life. Without Him we are nothing. But with Him we can do all things.

Let’s stop rushing through our days, weeks and years and make an effort to deliberately give God all the time and attention that He is due.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-13

(Isaiah 41:10 NKJV)  Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

This is a beautiful reminder that we are not alone.

So often we can read something like this but yet still not grasp that this is Almighty God speaking to us and encouraging us to not give up, to not back down and to not give in.

There is a lot of pressure these days with all the crazy stuff going on in the atmosphere around us, but we are not without help. God is with us to help us get through, so we don’t cave in.

Fear likes to grasp our hearts and minds when there are things coming against us, but we need to say no to fear, rebuking this spirit in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Let His words be written on our hearts that we may be able to pull from them and stand strong in knowing that He is faithful!!

Have a great weekend and no worries… it will all work out fine as we fear not!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-19-13

(Psalm 5:3 NKJV)  My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.

Who does your voice get lifted up to in the morning? What do you first think of when you wake up?

We all have very busy lives. It’s easy to wake up and let our minds begin to race with the activities of the day ahead of us.

It’s even easier for this to happen if we happen to be in a stressful time or season of our life.

But we need to consciously remind ourselves to put God first, even in our waking hour, giving Him time and room to speak to us. If we don’t do this, we’re starting our day without Him and without acknowledging Him.

It’s not that we do this intentionally, but it sneaks up on us over time and before we know it, we reach a point where we’re many hours into our day before we even think of God.

So let’s start right now. Let’s determine within our hearts to make sure we put God first each and every morning when we wake up, giving Him time and space to speak to us before we jump into our busy schedules.

If we will do this, we will see a huge difference in how our attitude and how our day goes for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-18-13

(Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)  But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

The past few months have been a big waiting period for my husband and me. I have to admit that at times I feel like I can’t wait one more itty bitty second or I will faint. But, I do. I wait a little more in the hopes that something will change.

I am telling you… it’s not easy to wait. It’s not easy to sit back and be patient. But I’m also telling you that if we do, God promises us we will mount up with wings like eagles. We will run and not be weary; and we will walk and not faint!

“Keep going” is the word for today!! If it’s in waiting, keep waiting. If it’s in running, then keep running. If it’s in being silent, keep quiet, and if it’s in speaking out, then shout it from the house tops!! Amen!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-17-13

(Matthew 12:37 NKJV)  “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Our spoken words are a very serious thing. What we say has a huge impact on us and those around us.

Jesus taught in the verse above that we will be judged for our words and we will either be justified by them or condemned for them.

This is truly eye-opening and convicting, because every single one of us has spoken things that would have been better left unsaid.

There is not a lot that can be said to expound on this. It’s pretty black and white, with no hidden meanings or deeply spiritual symbolism.

So let’s heed what Jesus is teaching us and guard our hearts, because it’s what is in our hearts that causes the words to come out of our mouths.

God, give us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us, that we may speak words to be justified by.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-16-13

(Proverbs 22:6 NKJV)  Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Today as I was doing some things around the house, I heard my wife in the other room as she was spending time with our two grandchildren.

She was using a couple of puppets that we have to keep them entertained and to have some fun with them. But what caught my attention was the subject matter. She was teaching them about Jesus.

As she used these puppets and had fun with them, she shared stories about Jesus and taught them who He is and how much He loves them. She also shared some stories about other people from the Bible, like Daniel and David.

I remember that when our own kids were young she would do the same thing. She took the time to teach them the things that would shape their future when it came to their spiritual well-being. We did this when they were young and they still walk with God today.

Parents, please listen to me. It is critical that you teach your children. They need to know God, not just know about Him. It is up to us, as parents, to instill the things of God into their hearts and minds while they are young.

God promises us that if we do this they will not depart from it. This doesn’t mean that they won’t stray occasionally or test the waters outside of God’s desires for them, but if they truly understand who God is and get to know Him, they won’t stay far off for long.

So train your children in the way they should go and entrust them to God. He will not fail you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-15-13

(1 John 3:18 NKJV)  My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

This verse reminds us that action means more than just words themselves.

If we are going to share the love of God, we need to take action. How many of us today are so full of wanting to do something for God, but when we think of doing something, we think of the “mission field” as being in some other country where there is no water or food, or where there are lots of sick and lost people.

We need to take a look around right where we are at today. There are sick and hungry people, and there are lost and dying people everywhere. We don’t have to leave our country to find them…but start right where we are at.

Let us not waste one more day. Reach out today with actions of love and truth and may God’s love move through us MIGHTILY to help that ONE!! Amen!
